2024.06.05 18:42 Former_Zucchini_510 Employer “no firearms policy”

This is primarily aimed at any attorneys out there/law experts. I will try to keep this as simple and straightforward as possible. I work for a construction company who does a lot of work for municipalities and private companies all over the SE. My company has a no firearms policy stating ”(employer) prohibits any employee from bringing firearms on any company property, facility, or job site. Violation of this policy is a serious safety violation and grounds for immediate termination.” “Please note, this policy includes employee vehicles driven to and or parked on job sites.”
My question is do they have any legal authority with this policy? Is my vehicle not an extension of my home? Is it not private property? I understand that there are some extenuating circumstances such as national parks, military bases, etc. I would think that, my vehicle is my property and as long as it remains in my vehicle they do not have any grounds for termination, even if they are aware of it in the vehicle. I should also mention that, although it is my personal vehicle registered in my name I do receive a weekly vehicle allowance compensating me for vehicle wear and tear and insurance. Others working for the company drive company vehicles registered to the company which I would understand them having the legal authority to restrict firearm possession in that instance.

Gold Mining (NYSE American: GLDG) is a gold-focused royalty company offering creative financing solutions to the metals and mining industry. Its mission is to acquire royalties, streams, and similar interests at varying stages of the mine life cycle to build a balanced portfolio offering near-, medium–, and long-term attractive returns for its investors.

What is a gold royalty?
A gold royalty is a contract that gives the owner (a gold royalty company) the right to a percentage of gold production or revenue in exchange for an upfront payment. Gold royalty companies use these contracts to finance junior and established mining companies needing capital.

Unlike many financial deals, each party benefits almost equally. GLDG provides the financing for exploration and production and gets a royalty on each ounce produced, or whatever the weight unit the target commodity is measured in. GLDG keeps working with the company to ensure growth for itself and its holdings.
Here is a detailed research report on GLDR and the Corporate deck for a deep dive into the Company.
There are very few companies that employ this gold/copper (and recently uranium) per royalty concept, but the successful returns are in the graphing;

There are a million reasons a project can fail. This fact is where it gets interesting for GoldMining Inc.
GG’s vision is NOT to risk the farm on one project. It is difficult to take on the capital expense, risk, and stress of putting a mine into production.
“With a diversified portfolio, we’re less exposed to single project, high risks faced by many in the gold production business,” (CEO Alastair Still)
Instead, GoldMining Inc. takes a more ‘value investor’ approach.
To highlight the quality of the holdings, investors need to look no further than the 15% of Gold Royalty Corp (Groy), a great gold royalty company in its own right. As GROY looks to add more producing royalties or some of its advanced-stage existing royalties ramp up towards production, its value proposition improves. That’s not a guarantee; it’s just common sense at this point.
That means, very simply, that GLDG buys up mining projects when gold markets are relatively low, holds onto them until the right moment… and buys them when no one else wants them.
This happened 15 years ago when projects were sold at depressed prices by single-asset companies that couldn’t raise the capital required to advance the asset.
The GLDG commodity exposure is 81% Gold or equivalents, 18% Silver, and 1% Copper. Wait for Uranium to join the mix.
Royalties assets include properties in Alaska, La Mina Columbia, Tapajos Region Brazil, São Jorge, Brazil, Nutmeg Mountain (USA), and REA Uranium, Canada.
Crossing Fingers
…is what most mining investors do. ‘Drill on the property’ merde. GLDG actively manages its assets, and investors get a piece of some of the world’s premier mining sites with a higher-than-average payment surety.
With Gold, Copper and now Uranium royalties, GLDG is historically ahead of the cure before the curve rises, eventually steeply. For diehard gold investors, GLDG should find a way into your portfolio. Or GROY, as noted. Someone mentioned that Goldmining would appeal to weak investors as it appeared to be low risk. I agree with the low-risk assessment.
However, when you have some of the best gold minds in the world doing smart deals that lower volatility and present returns 4x better than the physical, you can call me weak, but you need to add smart to that sentence. Aggressive gold players could use this as a base and trade juniors or seniors to enhance profit.
GLDG is almost an Occam’s Razor situation. The in-depth research aside, the approach is simple and somewhat elegant if you’ll forgive personal feelings.
The bottom line is that GLDG provides investors with many advantages.
  1. Proxy for the gold market
  2. Relatively lower risk
  3. Exposure to more prominent and higher quality gold companies
  4. Uranium is an example of GLDG moving ahead of the herd.
  5. A great example of a long-term hold.
  6. Cool Logo.
Have a look. I have put several outside information assets in this piece for your perusal. The company makes sense, good times and bad.

2024.06.05 18:22 Missdermeanerthanyou Severance mess.

I was let go from my position at a hagwon after 1 year and 9 months. My former employer paid severance for 1 year only, at the rate if my first contract, but is refusing to pay the 9 months prorated, as required.
I mentioned this, that he did not give me written notice of termination (just a text message warning me that he was thinking about it from my manager). I told him that I was going to submit a claim for improper payment and he is threatening to enter a counter claim, as the contract was not completed.
As I understand it, regardless of who ended the contract, severance is due based on continuous service and to be paid at the rate of the final contract.
Am I correct? Any advice other than get a lawyer?

2024.06.05 18:17 Environmental_Pool62 M48 and F37. My girlfriend has just move in after a bereavement and there has been some very odd behaviour. Is this just grief?

So this is the background. I’m 48 (male) and my girlfriend is 37. We’ve been seeing each other for about 9 months. About a month ago my girlfriend moved in, but in difficult circumstances and there has been some strange behaviour. I’m English, my girlfriend is Italian. We live in London.
My girlfriend had been in Italy for a month spending time with her terminally ill mother. Her mother passed away and she returned to the UK and moved in with me. She’s had quite a nomadic 5 years, moving location and changing job on roughly a yearly basis.
We live in London and are at quite different stages. She was renting a small room, and I had a much bigger home, which I own. Quite early on (after about 6 months) she’d started asking about moving in. I’d said this was too soon.
There had been some potential red flags when we were dating. Things like getting quite down and withdrawn the day before returning to work (for example a Sunday, or the last day of a week off work). She’d also gotten angry over what I felt were quite small things, for example me saying “shall I open the window?” and her replying no I’m okay, and then me going ahead an opening the window as I wanted it open.
Her mother’s terminal illness had been completely unexpected, it was diagnosed very late and she passed away fairly quickly (about a month after diagnosis). My girlfriend is clearly grieving, and there’s been some behaviour, which I don’t know whether to consider as symptoms of grief, or to be quite concerned. These are:

1) There will be days where she won’t talk with me, and will stay in different rooms. This included when I was sick with covid (nothing serious, but I was feeling very unwell). She essentially left me to look after myself and didn’t ask how I was feeling.
2) She’s getting angry over very small things. For example she wanted to write on my arms with a pen, I said no, she persisted a few times and I had to more assertively say that I didn’t want this. She then didn’t speak to me until the next day. There’s been other examples, very small things like, I wanted fishcakes for dinner, and she said I shouldn’t as it was using up a lot of electricity and that I should cook something using less energy (I’m the one paying all the bills). I persisted and she again stopped talking to me. I have more, all equally quite trivial and related to excessively negative responses when she's not getting her way.
3) Outside of this, there will be days where she is in a great mood, is very considerate and caring. This will last a few days and then she will get very withdrawn for a few days.
4) She will go out, but won’t say where she is going or for how long.
Some more context. My girlfriend isn’t working or employed. She works in healthcare and at the moment couldn’t engage with patients who have cancer (her mother had cancer). She spends most of her time alone playing video games or reading. She’ll go out a few times a week, but I don’t know where. I'm currently paying all the bills (my choice).
So I have some questions:

1) Is this a grief response, or is there something else going on I should be concerned with?
2) I’ve been thinking about ending the relationship and letting her stay until she’s back on her feet with a job and is emotionally stable, but I’m worried this might tip her into depression.
3) Does it sound like she’s already depressed?

TLDR Girlfriend has moved in following the death of her mother. There are days where she will withdraw completely and not talk to me. She’s also getting very upset and angry with me over quite simple things, for example wanting to write on me in pen, and me saying no. There were some signs of this prior to the bereavement.

2024.06.05 18:15 kattrisen 5 online side project ideas people are actually waiting for

My secret hobby is to discover untapped keywords that are perfect product ideas.
The untapped keyword criteria: - It needs to be a keyword you can build a digital product around - It needs a significant volume (monthly search volume of >500) - It needs to have low competition (keyword difficulty <20) - It needs to have enough relevant related keywords (to get even more traffic)
If the untapped keyword fits all those criteria, it means that if you build a good product around the keyword and get some mentions on other websites (max 20), you will: - Be able to rank in the top 10 on google - Get customers on auto-pilot

2024.06.05 18:13 patriotlawyer00 First Advantage Background Check, do I disclose prior wrongful termination lawsuits?

I just received a great job offer and I'm about to begin the background check. There is a gap of a few months (4-6 months after a contract position and my most recent due to me being fired for needing surgery and the second one I had covid and the flu and it was too many days out of the office despite covid being a disability at that time and their policy not to come in the office).
I don't wan't to scare my current employer and not sure what questions will be asked, but if I just put the correct dates and leave the gap there without explanation, is that better than providing I am suing my former employer for wrongful termination?
Lastly, they asked me to sign a legal release/promise not to sue which is why I retained an attorney to represent me. Thank you in advance

2024.06.05 18:12 adulting4kids Flash Fiction Prompts

This is taken from and is copyright protected by globalsoup.net, a website that promotes flash Fiction with annual writing contests.
I am reprinting these Flash Fiction Prompts because they are outstanding ways to freewrite and offer plenty to work with for those who want to learn how to write Flash Fiction.
So check out these prompts and the article and work some of them into your journal! Post the best responses!
100 Awesome Flash Fiction Prompts - Plus Bonus Prompts!
We’ve put together 100 flash fiction prompts, each one designed for a very short story. These prompts will probably be best suited to a story of between 300-1,000 words. If you want to write a longer story using these prompts, you can easily expand these ideas to fit a story of any length.
What is flash fiction?
Flash Fiction is defined as a very short story that can be anywhere from just a couple of words to about a thousand in length. The beauty (and difficulty) of writing flash fiction lies in trying to tell a complete story in so few words. Great flash fiction is succinct, emotive, thought-provoking, and impactful.
What’s the difference between flash fiction and a short story?
The only difference between flash fiction and a typical short story is the word count. However, this scarcity of words means that writing flash fiction can feel like a completely new skill. Just like the short story is a different animal to the novel or novella; flash fiction is kind of unique.
When writing flash, you’ll need to use fewer characters, a simpler plot, and you’ll have to make each word count. This is why editing is so important. You have to be brutal. Cut out everything superfluous and really make sure each and every word is performing an important function in the story. If you’re interested in writing very short fiction, why not check out drabbles? Drabbles are stories of exactly 100 words in length, and they can be a great way to practice keeping your stories very, very short.
How to plot a flash fiction story
When you sit down to write flash fiction, you must begin by choosing an appropriate plot. You cannot simply use a short story plot and tell it using fewer words. A typical flash fiction plot is like looking at one part of a story under a microscope.
For example, let’s look at prompt #21 in our list of 100 Flash Fiction Prompts:
  1. Two people on a sinking ship must decide who should take the last seat in the last lifeboat. If you were writing a novel about a sinking ship, you’d probably want the actual sinking to be the climax of the story. Of course, there are infinite ways to write a novel about a sinking ship, but this would structurally be the most obvious. You’d use the first part of the novel to introduce your characters and describe the voyage leading up to the sinking and the sinking of the ship would be the dramatic climax, leaving the last part of the book as the resolution.
The golden rule of writing short stories is to begin as close to end as you can. So, to turn the same story from novel to short story, you’d probably want to begin with the ship sinking. You haven’t got time to introduce the characters before the action begins, so you’d need to feed in exposition and backstory here and there during the events.
All stories need a good climax. So, you would find the most dramatic moment in the story and build up to it. Perhaps your climax would be the two main characters having to decide who will take the remaining seat on the last lifeboat.
Finally, you need a resolution. In a longer short story you do have time to bring in some kind of satisfying resolution at the end.
But, if you’re writing flash fiction and your story is only a few hundred words, you really need to zoom in on one tiny moment in that story.
You don’t have time to tell the entire story of a sinking ship, but you can turn one moment into a story.
We’ve chosen the lifeboat situation as the key moment in this hypothetical story. Two characters must decide which one of them will take the last seat on the last lifeboat. This is an appropriate plot for flash fiction because it’s simple, high-stakes, dramatic, and thought provoking.
Not all flash fiction will have a plot quite this dramatic, but all great flash fiction will have a plot that can be expressed in just one or two sentences.
If you have a plot in mind, but it seems more suitable for a longer story, you can sometimes find several flash fiction plots hidden within it. Just look for little stories within the story, like the lifeboat moment in our hypothetical tale of the sinking ship.
This brings us to our top tip for coming up with ideas for flash fiction stories:
if you’re ever stuck for ideas, you can find little stories within the story in books, movies, and TV shows. A full length feature film might have as many as 20 little incidents in it that could easily be flash fiction.
Don’t directly write a story based on the film, though. Just carefully pick out those little moments, write down what’s happening as a one or two sentence plot, and then use it to inspire your own, completely original flash fiction story.
One of our 100 Flash Fiction Prompts was actually taken from the movie Pulp Fiction!
How to write very short flash fiction
There are several reasons writers might start writing flash fiction. Of course, it could be that they just love and enjoy the form, but sometimes they’ll be a more strategic and practical reason at play.
Perhaps they want to practise the process of writing stories within the confines of a certain word limit. Maybe they are trying to develop a daily writing routine and they don’t have a lot of free time. It could be that they’re trying to break a habit of not finishing writing projects, or perhaps they are entering a flash fiction competition.
Whatever the reason, very often when we sit down to write flash, we must work under an imposed or self-imposed word restraint. We’ve set ourselves (or been set) the task of keeping the story under a particular number of words.
So, how do you plot a flash fiction story when you have to keep your story very, very short.
We’re not going to discuss stories of 100 words or fewer here. Technically, those stories are still flash, however, we prefer to categorise 100 word stories as drabbles and anything under 100 words as micro fiction.
But what if you have to keep your flash fiction story under, let’s say, 300 words? How do you write a flash fiction story that short?
The answer is: get your microscope out again. Remember earlier when we said writing flash fiction is like looking at part of a story under a microscope? If you have to write very short flash fiction, you’ll need to zoom in even further.
Let’s look at a couple of examples from our 100 Flash Fiction Prompts:
  1. During a match, a young boxer must decide whether to throw the fight.
If you had 1,000 words to devote to the story, you could have time to tell the story of the entire fight. With only 300 words, it might be better to zoom in on the very moment when the boxer must choose whether or not to go down.
In a longer flash fiction story you might have time to go into detail about why he’s in this situation and why he’s so conflicted. In a 300 word story, you might only devote one or two sentences to his gambling debt and the large sum of money waiting for him if he goes down in the third round, as instructed.
  1. A family must decide what to take and what to leave behind as a wildfire approaches their home.
If you had 1,000 words to devote to this story, you might be able to write about the whole process of choosing what to take and what to leave behind. You might be able to mention many different choices and have the whole family participate in the story. You’d be able to go into some details about certain choices and the stories behind individual objects or mementos, as well as the implications of choosing certain things over others.
With only 300 words, it would be advisable to zoom in on one member of the family and to focus on one profound and important choice.
How to write a flash fiction story
Now you have your mini plot, you still need to make sure your flash fiction feels like a complete story. It should still have a beginning, middle, and an end.
Just like a short story, you may need to bring in a little exposition here and there to give texture, context, backstory, and to bring some depth to the characters. But, unlike a short story, you won’t necessarily need to end with a full, detailed resolution. It’s quite common for a flash fiction story to end with a quick twist or plenty of ambiguity.
Flash Fiction is much more about eliciting emotions and provoking thought, than setting up and resolving a complex story.

2024.06.05 18:11 Dry-Advice2414 Choosing between a Corporate Job or OIP (if I make it)

HI Everyone!
I came to Canada in 2022 on a study permit and have completed my course in comms field. I was lucky to get into a govt agency for a short term contract and get to know a little about the work culture here.
After the contract ended, I switched to a corporate job at a marketing agency. I'm at a coordinator role here and am learning a lot. This month, I will be done with my probation and will be a full time employee here with benefits.
Parallelly, I applied to OIP and was passing every stage. After listening to the govt employees talking about OIP in such a high regard and also telling me what a great deal is it to come this far in the application process, it really motivated me. I do like the idea of eventually having a govt job which is safe and secured.
Right now, I am waiting on the final result for OIP. (It is speculated to come in this week) and I'm in splits on what to choose.
I am still on probation here, so I can leave. But, I'm unsure of how safe and stable will my journey be at OIP and after it. Will I be stuck between contract to contracts, how long will it take to secure a permanent spot.
Other thing to note would also be the fact that I have to apply for my PR soon. If I stay back at my corporate job, I have an option of getting a letter from them and applying for OINP from the international student stream. I'll have to figure out a path when I join OIP.
I'll be honored if I make it in OIP, but I want some advice on how to go about my situation.
Please help!

2024.06.05 18:09 WMH81 I think this is it.

She broke up with me 4 months ago, I was unable to move on for the first 3 months because we still lived together. She wanted to stay friends as we had been before we dated, but the last week when I should have been packing and moving she was overloading me with tasks, always needing help with things. Even once after I moved out, she convinced me to come help her with some stuff at her place.
We go with and without contact on and off and she's always the one that initiates contact, but it seems like the last week or two she was trying to convince me to do stuff over there again. I never offered my help, but then she also never asked me for help. One of our mutual friends got drunk and angry, and texted her a bunch of stuff including how she felt my ex screwed me over. This of course led to some angry back and forth between them, and she's been sending me screenshots of what she has sent to the mutual friend. The one from last night prompted me to address some things.
It was only a small handful of all the things I had wanted to get off my chest, but part of the conversation made me realize that the cold answers I was getting regarding my emotions were the same cold answers or non-answers I got the whole time we were together. Then after that I could tell she didn't want to talk about it, she started talking about being irritated about her cell phone contract. 😑
I realize now that she'll never want to talk about it. She never did in the first place. The emotions are all on my side. So I typed up the letter that I know want to put with her stuff that I already have boxed up, and I'm going to leave it at her place with her keys while she's gone at work. Part of that letter is telling her that I think we should go no contact.
When I first stepped out onto my patio this morning with my coffee, for some reason the song Let It Be popped into my head. I think that was a sign.

2024.06.05 18:07 Big_Guard_3 They fired me cause coworker wanted to harm me

So i had the canonic opportunity to recommend My Best friend in My job and we worked togerher for a year or so. He always had the habit of blaming working errors all on me, trying to show a good image of himself to the boss.
So last week he started blaming me on thrash not being put at it's place, and i responded proving it was his thrash, and out of spite i said to him "You should start helping your dad cleaning up his house of You think You are such a tidy person".
Next step, he is threathening to harm me with a knife if i show up to work. I explain the situation to the boss and i sent her the screenshots of the threats, and all she says to me is that she thinks it is a very unproffessional thing that i didn't advice her that i would need to be absent from work with days of anticipation, and told me i could come back 4 days later. (I thought she was going to do something about My co worker i'm that time). I just asked the boss to keep an eye on me just in case something happened.
So i went back next week and she directly fired me with My coworker being present there. The motive explicit in the letter says "thinking about your well being, considerating You Say You feel unsafe to come to the workplace and given the situation that we can't take responsability on You if You suffer any accident in the workplace, we're decided to dispense with your services".
This workplace didn't give us a contract, we don't have any kind of insurance or medical services, legal benefits or festive days off, and it is an 8 workday week before getting one day off. All of the payments are lend by hand without a receipt.
I feel like i could be the ahole because of what i said to My ex Best friend and because i somewhat tried to asked for something to My boss that i knew she wasn't gonna give. Also i never gave up or tried to de-escalate the situation because i felt everyone was against me. Also My boyfriend thinks i should have had legal orientation before asking for a better security. What do You think?

2024.06.05 17:57 TRMerc Caterpillar finish letters to values

I really hope this isn't violating anything, and I'm not going into specifics about the part, but I need to know what the value for caterpillar finish letters H and K. When I look online all I can find is people selling the templates online, and I don't want to risk damaging the only one we have by testing it with a diamond surface tester.

2024.06.05 17:56 Fishyninjabread Advice: Do I inform my manager of the intent to leave before handing in my resignation letter?

Hello Reddit Community.
First time poster here.
So I wanted to ask your advice. I have been working with a company for a long period of time (just hit the 9 year mark), however I have been approached by another company (in a completely different field so not a competitor) with a very tempting offer, an immediate £10k increase in salary at entry level and a sign on bonus, structured progression in the company, private health care as well as shares scheme and a potential to become director in 5 years time.
I have had my interview and I am just waiting for the final acceptance, which I should hear back this Friday (7th June)
So here lies the questions:
Not sure if it's relevant but my notice period on my contract is one month.
Any suggestions, advice, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

2024.06.05 17:45 Ofw_1999 Leaving the company after 30 days notice period without signing clearance here in Abu Dhabi to join another company.

I just finished my probation period but my company is delayed salary. That is why i submitted my resignation last 23May2024 with 1month notice based on my MOHRE Contract, but my employer is insisting me to stay for 2 months because it is mentioned on the offer letter issued by the company. They wanted me to look for my replacement, otherwise they will not sign my clearance and file a case against me. One of my previous colleague who also left the company, told me that I can leave the company after my notice period without clearance, all I have to do is to surrender all the company belongings like petty cash, mobile/sim, company shirt, access card, office/drawer key, then I can freely leave, and then I can complain to MOHRE regarding my case on my last day after leaving the company. Please advise.

2024.06.05 17:44 mr-peabodyxD [US-CA] evicted in response to raising mold concerns to landlord. is this retaliatory eviction?

yesterday morning i texted my landlord raising concerns over mold and asking for some remediation steps to be taken. she responded over text seven hours later with a 30 day notice of lease termination and also sent an email with a formal letter however, the letter does not state a reason for eviction (i.e. breaking the lease, failing to pay rent…)
is this considered illegal landlord retaliation? what should i do? my roommate is abroad for the month and there’s no way we could possibly move out in 30 days
