2024.06.05 00:28 thisoneguy9476 How should I continue?

So, I'm kind of in a predicament...
Long-ish read ahead, you can skip to the TL;DR if you feel like it, but I think the paragraphs below have some important information.
I've started watching Star Trek with Star Trek: Discovery about one year ago and really loved the visual style of the series. I didn't really plan to get into the whole Star Trek franchise, but after finishing the series, I wanted more.
After I had finished Discovery, I tried to find a similar series, or at least one that also had spaceships and nice visual effects, as I've said, I'm just a sucker for that kind of content. So, I've discovered Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and also loved the series. For me, it seems like the series has a similar feel to Discovery and also has quite nice VFX and CGI. I basically binged the series and from that point forward, I've been hooked.
I continued with Star Trek: Picard, and if I may say so, I really wasn't for me. I thought it was just so slow paced and generally just didn't feel like something I wanted to watch, way too much drama. So, I basically tortured myself through the first season. The second season was way more manageable, and the third one was rather good, compared to the other ones.
As I've now finished Picard, I still need more, but I don't know how to continue. I know my watch order is really strange, but as I've said, I just kinda fell into this franchise by accident.
TL;DR (skip to the next paragraph if you read the above):
I've started watching Star Trek with Discovery, continued with Strange New Worlds and now have finished Picard. Please read the last two paragraphs, as they are quite important to my question.
Another thing to note is, like I said, I love good VFX and CGI, and it's kinda important for me. I love me some eye-candy. And I don't think I can get myself to watch some of the older series with the, in my opinion, horrific black bars on the sides, at least not yet. I don't think I'm far enough into the franchise to allow myself to enjoy them, even if they're lacking my so beloved eye-candy (yet).
My question now is: How do I continue? What should I watch next, or in which order should I watch? I'm also okay with rewatching things I've already watched, if that's important.
Edit: Totally forgot to mention, I already watched The Orville and totally loved it. And btw thanks for the really fast replies and your help, much appreciated!

But before i leave...
Oh fuck American Idiot. I’m gonna play a fucking new song, newer than Nightlife. Fuck 21st Century Breakdown. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. Only one minute fucking left, can't even play fucking Nightlife. You’re gonna give me and LC fucking one minute while we're gonna play Nightlife? Taking a... look at that fucking sign right there, that almost-vacant sign on a noose over the stage. One minute. Let me fucking tell you Nightlife is magic. Let me tell you something. I’ve been singing Nightlife around since fucking 201-fucking-1. And you’re gonna give me one fucking minute? Not even enough time to catch up with girls hanging on bar stools? You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! Yeah, little angels of death. You’re fucking kidding me. I've gotta be rolling strolling into town. What the fuck! Am I crazy? Is it me? What the fuck is this dirty city, you motherfuckers? I ain't gonna make a move. You've gotta be fucking exploring milady's vocal cord, you dirty motherfuckers. 2024.06.04 23:54 trolling4bitcoin Planos

Stop giving the plano ppl the good crack.
Digestive, I had to switch shelves one and two in two different sections because it madeire sense to put tall bottles on the top shelf than having room to between products and the tops of shelves. Candy, had to spread out a shelf to two different sections because, again, no space between products and the shelf above. And what's up with putting Lilly's chocolate into the big candy bar display? How does that work? Is there some insert I'm missing? It shows four bars (2x2) but if you add the Reese's, it's five bars being added to the display. And, theater box candy, in order to fit the Toffifay packages, it's in front of the shelf above. How do you fix that? Simply make that a 13" shelf while all the others are 12".
C'mon, you're just making things up
I think the plano people should have to actually set it with real product rather than just drag and drop on the computer..

2024.06.04 23:13 Icy_Fox_907 Things to do that don't involve alcohol

So basically what the title says. I'm noticing these days that there are a lot of community activities, events, etc. that always seem to have drinking or alcohol involved. It's really hard to find anything that doesn't.
I remember a time when movie theater concession stands had soda, popcorn, and candies. Now you can't step into a theater that doesn't also have a full bar, or cocktail options. My boyfriend and I ran a 10k for our anniversary last year, and there were beers and vodka seltzers at the finish line. I did some volunteer work at a rehab center and someone in a meeting circle said Chuck E. Cheese serves wine for the adults now. Which...I'm sorry I find that wildly inappropriate. I do blame Mommy Wine culture for that one...
I've seen posts on other subreddits with people absolutely losing their minds over dry weddings. Even when the couple chooses to have a dry wedding because of family history of addiction. People argue there's no point in going without being able to drink at the reception. I think if I had a dry wedding and one of my friends or family members said they wouldn't come JUST because there isn't alcohol...well I'd be hurt.
I don't drink much myself, and my boyfriend has decided he's not into drinking anymore either. Problem now is how hard it's been to find social scenes and activities that don't have alcohol. Some spaces offer non-alcoholic options, and we have the choice not to drink, but sometimes we just don't want to be around a whole group of people who are drunk.
He is getting into sporty things (just got a pickleball set) but what other suggestions does anyone have? Anybody else feeling this way?

New Startup Slot Developer Massive Studios Features Gorgeous Graphics & Animations
I accidentally came across Massive Studios by searching for a game with a similar name to their beautifully designed Super Mega Monsters. Released nearly a year ago, the cascading reels feature captures that Candy Crush style of gameplay where one spin can lead to multiple drops of disappearing symbols. Apparently, I'm not the only person fond of this game as there are several videos of gameplay with enthusiastic commentary.
Founded in 2022 with headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, Massive Studios has already released 7 quality titles in that short span. As a web designer, I really respect their dedication to formatting the games to different devices and aspect ratios. Characters and elements that appear next to the reels in landscape mode seamlessly move from top to bottom when changing the orientation of your phone.
Much like our developer from last week, the company maintains a very active profile on LinkedIn. Things must be going very well as they recently posted about an animator job opportunity. Innovation is a huge priority and given their recent accomplishments the future looks very bright for this young company.

Games That Stand Out

While the library of games is small, Massive Studios has no problem exploring different themes and topics. Sure, a few of them are in the horror category but there are other quality choices too. Although, I definitely need to start out with the game that got my attention.
Super Mega Monsters
There's a lot to keep an eye on (no pun intended) when playing Super Mega Monsters. As mentioned in the introduction, the cascading reels keep the action going with each successive drop of matching symbols. A history bar on the left begins to grow while on the right side each of the monster's five eye balls start to fill. If you're feeling lucky a buy feature allows you to activate a game enhancer mode or apply 2 specific bonus attributes.

Bonsai Banzai
As soon as you start this game you may choose your character and the level of volatility. Will you play it conservatively and select the option for high volatility and normal wilds OR extreme volatility and multiplying wilds? Fortunately, you can easily switch between the two mid-game with the click of a button. I caught myself doing just that several times in a row to activate leaves fluttering in the background and the accompanying sound effects.

Drac's Stacks
Take on Dracula in this spooky-themed slot game featuring fun symbols like mirrors, garlic, holy water and more. The buy feature has not 1 but 2 game enhancers along with 2 bonus options to opt for. While stunning for sure, it's the music that really sets the tone of the game. It's a track that would fit right in with any other ambient Halloween music.

2024.06.04 20:38 whiskysic Fat my whole life

I’ve(34f) been overweight almost my whole life. In high school i played sports and worked out, due to my parents being very health oriented. End of my high school career I was very healthy. Once I moved out and went to college and didn’t have the overwhelming “support” from my parents to eat better and workout I’ve been sliding scale up for my weight and on many yo-yo diets. I’ve worked out and joined many gyms, learned to cook and eat healthy but I just can’t stick to it. Currently I’m 5’1 and 260. I’m a butterball. I buy very healthy food and no snacks when grocery shopping for the week. But my husband and I get take out and pick up food half the week and snacks from the corner store all the time. I know I shouldn’t but I do it anyway. I’m too tired to cook after work and so is he so we get fast food. I want a sweet treat, so we go get candy bars instead of eating the fruit. I’m just sick of being fat.

2024.06.04 18:50 SaltyAqua77 What is it like eating food at home long term?

I was spending $900-1300 a month on eating out without batting an eye, that’s including grocery stuff (like snacks), sparkling water, candy, fast food, restaurants. It was just a norm.
Then I woke up and instead of $15-20 chipotle for lunch, I opted for $5-6 premade sandwiches at supermarkets. They honestly are kind of gross and feel unhealthy. But I already cut my daily spending in half. I’ve done this for about a week or two.
Then yesterday I made the biggest change. I bought a rotisserie chicken on sell for $5, had some pita bread laying around, and bought some microwave veggies for less than $2.
I ate some of the chicken for dinner, and this morning packed some more with a pita bread for lunch. Now my lunch is like $2-3. Compared to $15-20.
I’m easily going to save a lot more money now and might even get deeper into stuff like buying raw chicken breast instead and cooking it myself. But buying a $5-7 rotisserie chicken seems to make the most sense because it’s so easy and tasty (is there a con?)
I think I can survive on two meals a day. I usually don’t eat anything until 12 pm anyway. Then there’s snacks, that’s my weakness. Should I be relaxed when it comes to paying for snacks? Like I prefer a $4-5 can of whipped cream and a $4 box of Oreos and eat at least one row of ores with the can of whipped cream to be happy.
Or if I have a Cadbury chocolate bar that’s still like $3-4. How should I save money with snacks?

Anyone able to recommend body products that actually smell like edible chocolate🍫? I'm looking into chocomusk after a few recommendations but I'm looking for more. I've tried the search bar, but it brings candles up more than anything, no matter what i type 😥. I really dislike the majority of "cocoa/ butter" scented things as the Shea butter normally added with it smells musty to my nose and then changes to sour milk on me 🤢. I don't care if it sounds weird, I wanna smell like a candy bar all day lol, can anyone help me with that please? 😆

2024.06.04 15:31 Atyzzze Why Hasn't America Adopted Universal Basic Income Yet?

Why hasn't America adopted Universal Basic Income (UBI) yet? Why aren't leaders like Andrew Yang or others running again with adjusted, more refined ideas?
It seems so obvious that this is the direction we need to go. A daily dollar might not be enough, but what matters is that we start NOW and reevaluate the economy later, once we've had time to absorb the economic changes. Imagine the ripple effects:
Kids buying more candy: Stores get more money, candy producers thrive. Teenagers going to movies or bars: More revenue for entertainment and hospitality sectors. Parents saving for the future: Enhanced financial security. Elders not worrying about their pensions: Greater peace of mind for retirees. A basic income would stimulate the economy by increasing consumer spending across all demographics.
Yet, despite the clear benefits, there's resistance. Why?
Self-Worth Tied to Jobs: Many people equate their self-worth with their job market utility. They fear losing this sense of purpose.
Denial of Technological Progress: Some are still in denial about how far technology has come. We're on the cusp of fully automated driving, but political adjustments and new laws are needed to fully embrace this change.
UBI isn't just about economics; it's about recognizing our inherent worth as human beings. It's about preparing for a future where automation will dominate the job market. Why isn't this direction more obvious to everyone? What are the real barriers preventing this idea from gaining traction?
Let's discuss. How can we push this conversation forward and start building a future where everyone can thrive?

2024.06.04 15:19 Important_Island_366 AITA for not letting my step-nephew spend time at my house anymore?

My brother Nick (35m) is married to Rachel (34f) and is stepdad to her son Colton (9m). Rachel and her ex split custody of Colton so he's at their house 50% of the time and the other 50% he's with his dad's family. Something that is kinda relevant is Nick does not play an active parenting role in Colton's life. He's basically the backup, the fun uncle figure, but parenting is only between Rachel and her ex and Nick is not allowed to discipline Colton or handle parenting matters. So I have been dealing with Rachel alone on this issue.
I have two boys. My oldest is 8 and my youngest is 4. Because my oldest and Colton are so close in age Rachel wanted them to spend as much time together as possible and she asked if we could take Colton after school in an informal agreement. We had agreed he could come to my house until 5pm but when it came into practice, he would be here until 7pm or later and Rachel never picked Colton up before then even if I called.
Colton was taught that if you're in a family members home you can take what you like and don't have to ask. So while he was in my house he eat and drink so much of our stuff. In one day before he drank an entire 6 pack of Sprite that he went outside to get, a big share bag of Doritos, three chocolate bars, a bag of gummy candies and cookies I had left out of the way for later. I spoke to him and said he should ask before taking in the future and he told me he didn't need to ask and his mom said he should eat when he wants to. I talked to Rachel about this and she scolded me for bringing this to Colton at all. She said if it's in my house he should be able to eat or drink as much of it as he likes.
There was also the added fact that he was here for dinnertime and I couldn't just let him sit there day after day and watch us eat so I started making enough for him too but then he'd take the things he liked off my sons plates and he'd leave what he didn't like (veggies and meats usually unless nuggets). Again this was a conflict with Rachel because I told Colton not to do it and tried to make him apologize. Colton told Rachel about it and she was pissed off at me for trying to discipline her son.
I tried for a few weeks but it wasn't working and so I pulled the plug on him being here. And now I say no and I have told her he can't spend time at my house anymore. Rachel told me if he was my real nephew I wouldn't dismiss Colton so quickly. She also told me I'm taking my issues with her out on him and he's sad he can't spend time with his bestie cousin anymore.
AITA?

2024.06.04 15:14 como365 Already outlawed in Missouri, noncitizen voting ban will appear on statewide ballot

Already outlawed in Missouri, noncitizen voting ban will appear on statewide ballot
Missouri’s Constitution has banned noncitizens from voting since 1924. And state law requires individuals to verify they are a U.S. citizen in order to register to vote.
But GOP lawmakers contend the constitutional and statutory language isn’t strong enough. Instead of saying that “all citizens” can vote, Republicans argue the state constitution should be changed to make it clear that “only citizens” can vote.
So on the final day of the 2024 legislative session last month, the GOP pushed through a proposal that would, among other things, ask voters to change “all” to “only.”
“If they become a citizen, then absolutely I would welcome their engagement in our electoral process,” state Sen. Ben Brown, a Republican from Washington, said while presenting the bill to a House committee. “However, what I aim to do is to prevent the dilution of the voice of U.S. citizens.”
Critics painted the proposal as nothing more than “ballot candy” designed to stoke anti-immigrant sentiment and trick voters into signing off on the amendment’s other provision — a ban on ranked-choice voting.
Marilyn McLeod, president of the League of Women Voters of Missouri, called the proposal a “red herring” at a legislative hearing last month.
“It’s already against the law,” she said.
The idea that noncitizens could be illegally voting has become an election-year talking point for Republicans across the country, often echoing the baseless conspiracy theory spread by former President Donald Trump that millions of undocumented immigrants voted in the 2016 election.
A nationwide survey by the Brennan Center for Justice found the number of noncitizens suspected to have voted in the 2016 election was only around 30. A national database run by The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, shows that there have been fewer than 100 cases of voter fraud tied to noncitizens since 2002, according to a recent count by The Washington Post.
The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office this year announced only 137 suspected noncitizens were discovered to be on that state’s rolls out of roughly 8 million voters. And the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office found that 1,634 noncitizens attempted to register to vote over a 25 year period, but all had been blocked by local election officials.
Yet in some states, even though noncitizens are prohibited from voting in federal elections, they have been permitted to cast a ballot for local candidates.
In 16 cities and towns in California, Maryland and Vermont, noncitizens are allowed to vote in some local elections, such as for school board or city council. In 2022, New York’s State Supreme Court struck down New York City’s 2021 ordinance that allowed noncitizens to vote in local elections, ruling it violated the state constitution.
State Sen. Bill Eigel, a Weldon Spring Republican and a candidate for governor, said the language in the Missouri Constitution designed to prohibit noncitizen voting is similar to other states where the practice is taking place locally.
He believes Democrats in Missouri could follow suit.
“So do I think that if (St. Louis) Mayor Tishaura Jones thought that there was an opportunity to start engaging noncitizens to vote in local St. Louis city municipal elections, would she do it using the same procedure that’s happened to these other states?” he said. “I absolutely think she would. So for me, it’s important to put these additional protections in the constitution.”
Already illegal? In 1865, Missouri voters approved a new constitution abolishing slavery. The 1865 “Drake Constitution,” written by what were called Radical Republicans, took the vote away from former Confederates and extended it to immigrants who were not yet citizens but who had declared their intent to become one.
The provision rewarded the largest immigrant group in Missouri at the time, Germans, who were among the most anti-slavery, and therefore Radical Republican voters.
The franchise was taken away from noncitizens in 1924, when newcomers were more likely to come from eastern and southern Europe, in an amendment proposed by a state Constitutional Convention passed with 53.5% of the vote.
In addition to the century-old constitutional prohibition, state law also requires Missourians to declare whether they are a U.S. citizen when registering to vote. And Missouri Secretary of State Jay Aschroft, a Republican and candidate for governor, has repeatedly clarified over the years that state law says “you have to be a citizen to register to vote.”
Much of Missouri’s debate this year about noncitizen voting took place as part of a session-long fight over a Republican push to make it harder to amend the state constitution through the initiative petition process.
A campaign to legalize abortion up to the point of fetal viability submitted more than 380,000 signatures to the Missouri Secretary of State’s office, paving the way for the proposed constitutional amendment to potentially land on the November ballot.
In response, Republicans hoped to raise the threshold for amending the constitution from a simple majority statewide to both a majority of votes statewide and a majority of votes in five of the state’s eight congressional districts.
Under that proposal, approximately 23% of voters could theoretically control the outcome, where a vote against an amendment in four districts would be enough to defeat it statewide.
Many Republican proponents of raising the bar for amending the constitution acknowledged its chances of winning voter approval was slim.
“Raising the threshold is a loser and various states have proven that’s a loser,” Tim Jones, state director of the Missouri Freedom Caucus, said earlier this year.
So to bolster the amendment’s chances, Republicans added the noncitizen voting provision.
Senate Democrats refused to allow the proposal to go to the ballot with the noncitizen language, arguing it was deceptive. They staged a 50-hour filibuster that ultimately killed the proposal amid Republican infighting.
“It’s in there to deceive voters,” state Sen. Karla May, a St. Louis Democrat, said during the filibuster about the noncitizen voting ban. “It’s already law, but they want to trick voters into thinking it’s not law. It’s deceiving language added to the bill.”
Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, seemed to agree, telling a reporter from Nextar Media Group that “it’s already illegal for an illegal to vote in the state of Missouri. We’ve already got that part.”
With the Senate mired in gridlock, the House picked up and passed the rank-choice voting amendment that included noncitizen provision. After months of heated debate over the issue, it was barely mentioned when the rank-choice voting ban was sent to the ballot on the session’s final day.
“It seems like we’ve been wringing our hands for about a week or two on this particular issue,” state Rep. Brad Banderman, a St. Clair Republican, said during the House debate, “but on this day, on this Senate Joint Resolution, the other side of the aisle doesn’t seem to be standing at mics complaining.”

2024.06.04 13:37 Daniel_the_Cabbage Flamigo Carry Strat

I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but Flamigo with Moxie (his passive) absolutely CARRIES all the way to wave 200. Double Kick and Peck gets past the first 30 waves easily, Learning Wing Attack instead of Peck is a great power spike in early game, his stats are great, one of his hidden moves is thunderous kick, wich kills even without super effectiveness (90 BP + 45 STAB + Moxie Boosts), He can learn Dark Type moves to deal with frail psychic types and he costs like, 5 (up to 3 if you invet candies) points, leaving space for CC or lategame Mons.
My current strategy to consistently beat Classic Mode (non ironically at least 75% Win Rate with no resets) is to start with my moxie Flamigo (not even full IVs in ATK and Speed), Shiny Yamper with Ball Fetch (turns into Strong Jaw) and Ice Fang Hidden Move and any other pokemon that can beat the two big boys late game. I try to catch a water type, but it can be one of the starters since Flamigo and Yamper only add up to about 6 (I reduced both their costs by 1).
No need for legendaries that cost about 8 to 6 when you can have a Flamigo to sweep, a Yamper to nuzzle and either CC or make easy cacthes and whatever mons you may catch along the way (Yamper with Strong Jaw and Ice fang also leaves the big boys with, like, 1 HP bar in the end game, no protein, no setup, just straight up GAS)

I purchased some raw Stainless Steel bars. How do i sand them and polish?
Hello i’ve recently purchased these 304L cold drawn stainless steel metal bars to use them in confectionery work like sugar candy and caramels (you arrange the bars to form a square frame on the worktop and then pour the hot molten mix, as you can see in the second image as an example).
I didn’t inform myself properly so they’ve arrived in their raw state which is not safe for direct contact with food products. How do i make them smooth and ready for food work, as any other metal kitchen utensils? They don’t need any specialized treatment right? Just sanding and polish i assume

This is my unicorn whisky
Tokyo day 2
Clynelish 1965 Scotch Malt Sales: Japan exclusive 27 years old Bottled 1992 51%
Others may seek out old Bowmore or Laphroaig but pre-Brora Clynelish will most likely be my favourite whisky of all time. (Clynelish from the old distillery before it was renamed to Brora).
I have seen a 1972 and pale vatting of 1965 before but i have never seen this bottle.
A friend tells me that it was probably from the first batch of 500ml bottles that Scotch malt sales ever got from Signatory vintage. To my knowledge, a picture or write up of this bottle didn't exist on the internet at all.
When I found out this bottle was for sale from a private collector, I planned a trip to travel over and collect it. (Convinced my wife that Tokyo is a nice place for our honeymoon 😆🤭)

Tonight we cracked it open on the spot and tasted it together with the bar owner that hosted us.
Old pre Brora Clynelish at cask strength and as a single cask is a rare sight. This bottle taken from Signatory Vintage stock and I suspect this was never bottled as a single cask apart from this 500ml version and was one of the first bottles ever bottled for Scotch Malt Sales. It’s completely understated in its packaging and appearance and many might glance over it if they didn’t know what they were looking at.
It is important to note that these 500ml bottles were never sold with seals or capsules - this means that it can easily be opened and refilled. Provenance and trust is of utmost importance when seeking out these bottles for Scotch malt sales. The seller acquired it from a stockpile of bottles that he bought over from a Bar owners private collection.
when we tasted it together, it was unmistakably old clynelish. I shall refrain from giving tasting notes until I am able to taste it in a more conducive setting but for now it’s feeling like 96/97 points. Stunning whisky…
The whole experience of travelling down to another country, meeting the bottle owner, sharing the liquid, a few laughs and deep discussion about the whisky alongside a knowledgable bartender made the whole experience amazing.

To compare them side by side provided a lot of context that I feel would be missing if tasted individually and helped me to develop a deeper understanding about the essence of old Clynelish distillate. The discussion was also insightful and lovely - a whisky nerds dream.

Some bonus tasting notes of #666 which i brought a sample back with me:
Clynelish 1965 Signatory Vintage Cask #666 28 years old Bottled July 1993
A month after Tokyo....
I tried this one when it was freshly cracked in Tokyo thanks to a friend who kindly brought it to share. I brought 2 small samples back and shared one of them with a close group of friends who polished it off way to quickly before it had time to develop in the glass Haha.
Today, I spent 2hrs tasting the last sample I have. Once again, a big thank you for sharing this whisky with me!
Initially when I tried it freshly cracked in Tokyo, it was quite resinous and sherry forward. Stripped bark, charred walnuts, oily perfumed wood resins, boot polish, flambeed brandy, cherries and engine exhaust dominated the nose and all hinted towards an old style sherry cask that also leaned towards dryness. To be honest, I struggled with it quite abit and the palate had some wood spice and leafy notes that seemed to clash with the spirit and obscured the clynelish distillate. It was a good sherried whisky but I hard a hard time finding the old clynelish distillate.
Now with air in the sample bottle and time to develop in the glass, this has blossomed into the old style clynelish I have come to love, with an extra dimension from the sherry cask that I do not find in the other pre Brora clynelishes I’ve had. The dry elements have transformed into lush and warmer hues. Candied tangerines, a stunning soft minerality in the form of beach pebbles, limestone, warm sea breeze, the smell of warm earth baking under the afternoon sun, very ripe mangoes and plums 1960s bowmore style (is this from the sherry cask?) and a lovely note of old oily resinous oak that has become an anchoring base note that uplifts the other flavours rather than obscuring them.
As it sits, Wow wow wow the mango notes and candied minerals are getting immense. In fact if I were to reduce my tasting notes into 4 words, it’ll be - mineral, incense, mango and wax.
This was far in flavour and aroma from #667 when I first tried it but now the flavour profiles are getting closer and closer. This one is definitely has more sherry influence in comparison which I initially thought would subtract from the experience but I was wrong. The sherry here is providing the ripe exotic yellow and orange fruit notes and a beautiful soft but aromatic wood influence. In time it melds with the soot and soft mineral notes and becomes incense like. The only aspect that is missing would be the immense linseed oil, coal and precise mineral purity that I found in other pre brora clynelish (Giaconne 12s & 1965 CA 51.7) . Its less forceful, is rounder and less phenolic from the time it’s spent in the cask.
The palate is more powerful than the nose would suggest. Here the old clynelish distillate really asserts itself. Soot and old workshop tools are drenched in tangerine and mango syrup with the texture of warm bubbling wax that sits on the tongue. Fat and velvety distillate. Its creamy in texture with tropical fruit syrup, spices and mineral studded gloopy waxes that glue to the tongue with notes of wood resins intermingled with vibrant minerals, oyster brine and green herbal liqueurs.
Initially a 89 when I tried it freshly cracked, to a 91 when revisited with friends and now to a 94. This really shows that reviews of whiskies done from samples can really differ and the most reliable reviews are from people who have journeyed with a full bottle… ha I wish I have a full bottle!
And wow I think this is the longest review I’ve written 😅
Sorry for the long rant!
P.s. : For those who would like to try this bottle, I will be sharing it at The Malt Affair Singapore. do come down to say hi and discuss this whisky with me!
