 | Did some redecorating and now have a bonsai tree in my new scape, I have had success with Monte Carlo on wood âcreepingâ in the past and I thought HC would do the same (it hasnât). submitted by Significant-Bat-9503 to Aquascape [link] [comments] Would like some suggestions on the best plant to create the effect of leaves on the bonsai. Iâm thinking either flame moss, Monte Carlo or crystal wort. The issue is that with this particular bonsai wood, the branches sort of curve inward to create this large chamber in the middle (which means anything growing inside will get a lot less light, had some java moss which we growing poorly in there). As far as any other suggestions: this is primarily a shrimp tank but I want a good scape as well, I have an under gravel filter so I donât want to have substrate too deep so that it canât filter the waste from them properly- nor plants that have root systems that are gonna clog the filter. I know this is limiting but still looking for suggestions. Iâve been using a backup filter to scrub my water which I share between my tanks to spread beneficial bacteria for faster cycling- this will be removed soon. Thanks |

- The Stetson Kennedy Foundation and the St. Johns County Parks Department present "Sundays at Stetson's," a much-loved concert series held at Kennedy's former residence, Beluthahatchee Park. Each month, this folk music series features a different musician or group â one who carries on Stetson Kennedy's traditions and values.
- The concerts take place inside one of the property's buildings from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. one Sunday a month. The concerts are free, and donations are accepted. Admission is limited to 40, and reservations must be made in advance, via email. Tours of the Stetson Kennedy cottage (Beluthahatchee) may be available on select Sundays.

I feel stressed and disheartened. None of my shrimp have died off my tank seems extremely healthy, i have more females than males my parameters are correct temp is kept at room aka no heater, hygger wall spongefilter etc.

A smash sounded a few yards away in the sundry shop and Nancy jumped, severely startled.
âJesus Christ!â she exclaimed, losing the grip on her magazine, which went tumbling to the floor.
âWhat was that?â called a voice a moment later.
Nancy put her hand to her chest over her racing heart and took a deep breath before answering her boss, Marjorie, who was currently at the reception desk near the front of the hotel lobby. âJust a second,â she said. Picking up the magazine from the floor and putting it on the counter, she walked around some of the shelves and displays until she saw what had fallen. âHuh.â
If Nancy got a nickel every time sheâd thought the phrase, âThatâs new,â while working at the Crossroads Hotel, she would probably be able to retire. Being an âintersectionâ of multiple dimensions occasionally made things appear out of nowhere, from objects to weird weather to even the occasional animal. The clatter had been from a ceramic potted plant shattering on the linoleum floor.
A moment later, Marjorie walked into the shop and where Nancy was standing, hands on her hips. âDonât ask me,â Nancy said promptly. âI donât know where it came from.â
âWhere everything comes from,â the manager responded with a small smile. âSomewhere else. You got this?â
âYeah, I got it,â she said with a dismissive hand wave. Marjorie nodded once before turning and walking back through the lobby.
Nancy took a look at the plant, unique as it was. It looked like the pot had been about six inches across, just the type of thing to put on a living room table as a centerpiece. The thick leaves were a gorgeous blue and purple color with white blotchy stripes, and there were deep purple flower blooms growing tall as well. Pursing her lips at the beautiful sight, Nancy couldnât bring herself to sweep everything up and trash it, so instead, she just decided to only throw away the shattered pottery.
First, she went back to the counter and took a dustpan and brush from one of the drawers, as well as her small trash bin. After picking out the bigger pieces of the pot and putting them in the bin, Nancy picked up as much of the plantâs roots and dirt as she could, putting them aside, and then swept up the smaller pieces of shattered clay.
Once that was done, Nancy unlocked and went through the door marked Storage.
The storage area was her domain. As far as any of the employees knew, it was just storage, but they also knew it was so much more. If someone came to Nancy and requested any items, usually Marjorie or the chef Andrea on behalf of a guest or one of the guests themselves, Nancy would go fetch it. And by any items, that meant any items.
Shutting and locking the door behind her, Nancy went down the small hall to the storage room. The hallway had been purposefully added in, so no one could see into the room. Then she took out her wand, going over to her cauldron.
If she had any regrets about working here, it was that she wasnât able to tell those she worked with that she retrieved the items they needed from a genuine large black cauldron in the middle of the room. She knew Marjorie in particular would get a kick out of it. But the fact was that it had been made from solid iron because it contained any magic that was done inside it, since iron repelled magic. It didnât hold a stew, bubbling away like in movies. Instead, there was just a fine mist up to the rim, as if there was dry ice at the bottom.
The rest of the room was mostly empty. There was a long folding table against the wall to the right, for organization of any and all things she needed to give to those whoâd requested them if there was a list. Then there were some shelving units that held boxes full of the sundry shopâs most popular items. Other than that, the room was empty.
The Crossroads Hotel was one of the rare places that had an artifact like the cauldron. Nancy had brought it with her when sheâd started working there, and she knew without a doubt that the fact that she owned one was the reason she was hired.
Any witch could work at a sundry shop, and also it only took about a decadeâs worth of training to properly use the cauldron. Aside from that, playing backup to the wizard who ran the hotel if the occasion presented itself was another thing on a resume that many witches out there had. But owning an artifact that could conjure items was extremely rare, and to be allowed to use them by the authorities was rarer. The witch had to be incredibly trustworthy, since only warded items were safe from its near-infinite reach.
Then there was also the door to her right, which lead to what could more properly be called Storage. It led to another location in a nearby city, a warehouse that stored any and all items that had been left by accident at the hotel. It was a warehouse because they kept things indefinitely, and the hotel had been open for over 150 years. That meant an absolute ton of items.
Nancy took out her wand, closing her eyes, and let herself slip into a calm and tranquil place. Then raising her wand, she spoke, âAfferte mihi ollam parvam plantae ex visu viso ubi multa sunt..â Roughly translated, it came out to, âBring me a small pot for a plant from a sight unseen where they are plentiful.â
Her concentration on the direction and instruction of the spell was just as important as the words spoken and the power directed through her wand. It would take the item from somewhere on Earth where there were a lot of them and one wouldnât be missed, for example a shelf at a closed Walmart, and teleport it to the cauldron. If it was longer than the cauldron was tall, it would allow the witch to pull it out, like a lamp from Mary Poppinsâ purse. And it would work on any item as long as human eyes werenât currently looking at it.
Once the spell had been cast, Nancy slowly drifted her wand around the top of the cauldron, murmuring, âDissipare.â The smoke spread to the sides of the cauldron and dissipated into nothing, letting her lean down and pick up the small white ceramic pot that had appeared. Then, she walked back out to the sundry shop and knelt at the plantâs side. Sweeping together the dirt, she picked up it and the plant, carefully depositing it in the pot. Moving around and patting down the dirt, Nancy smiled in satisfaction.
After sweeping up the rest of the dirt into the dustpan and emptying it into the trash, she fetched a wet paper towel from the bathroom to get the last of it. Then she put it on the counter next to her cash register. Not long ago, theyâd had a visit from some very special fae whoâd been disappointed at the lack of live plants in the lobby. Theyâd remedied that, but Nancy figured theyâd approve of any new live plant she added to the dĂ©cor.
About two hours later, there was another noise, though this time it was a thump. Nancyâs attention was piqued and she stood up, walking out of the shop. It didnât take much time to find the culprit: a cloth bag that looked like it held some kind of sand or dirt, probably about twenty pounds worth.
Marjorie was at her side a moment later. âWhat is going on?â she chuckled. âDo you think we could be getting presents from someone who thinks we need more plants?â
Nancy grinned. âThat would be a nice surprise.â
At that, Nancy grabbed and hefted the bag up and onto her shoulder. She wasnât buff by any stretch of the word, but she certainly had the strength to carry a bag of dirt. Returning to the shop, she dropped the bag with another thud behind the counter, near the wall. âHow long are we going to be receiving gifts from a garden store?â Marjorie asked with a dry grin, leaning over the counter so she could see the plants. I saw the assistant manager Josh behind her, leaning further forward so he could get a good view also. âIf someoneâs trying to give us a hint, they certainly have at this point.â
âNo kidding,â Nancy chuckled. âAt least theyâre nice plantsâŠâ

Nancy walked out from behind the desk and took a glance around. If anyone saw her, the womanâs appearance would have to be passed off as some sort of cosplay.
âHello, Iâm wondering if you could-â She let out a sigh, walking over to the plants that had just appeared. Carefully checking them over for any damage, she shook her head. âHere they are. Youâre the Manager, arenât you?â she asked, glancing to Marjorie. âThis is the Crossroads Hotel?â

âOh, good,â she said, turning and walking over, the two employees following her. âThis potâŠthis is new. Did you replant it?â
Nancy nodded. âYes, maâam. It must have fallen from a good height because the pot smashed on the floor. I repotted it because itâs so beautiful. I couldnât imagine putting it in the Lost and Found just to dry up and fade away.â
âThat was so kind of you,â the woman sighed. âI just fixed the issue that was allowing this to happen, but then it was a matter of getting back what I lost. Itâs my fault. I was doing some reworking of my wards and I made a mistake.â
âNo problem at all,â Nancy replied.
âYou know what? Keep the plant as a gift, an appreciation of my thanks for caring for it,â she said with a dimpled smile. âIt will last for years and years and only needs watering once a week, but wonât get any bigger, so this is the perfect spot for it. And Iâd be honored to have one of my plants at the Crossroads Hotel.â
Nancy blinked in surprise. âWell, thatâs quite kind of you!â
âThink nothing of it. Itâs my lifeâs work to find homes for all of my plants, and this one just managed to find a home all on its own. Itâs a variety of pinguicula from where I live, and should flourish without much effort.â She walked around behind the desk and spotted the bag of dirt. With another wave of her hand, it vanished the same way. âYour hospitality is greatly appreciated,â she said, looking from Marjorie to Nancy. âI must be going.â
âIt was nice to meet you,â Marjorie said. Nancy smiled, guessing that the Manager had just felt she needed to say something to wrap up the encounter.
âYou as well.â With another thorough glance around the lobby for anyone who might see, the woman took a few steps through the air and disappeared.
Marjorie took a closer look at the plant, smiling at the flowers that bloomed a good six inches from the leaves. âItâs really pretty.â
âYeah. Iâve got a hunch though, considering how high the flowers are,â Nancy said thoughtfully. She placed the tip of her pointer finger on the tip of one of the leaves, then found it difficult to pull it off of the sticky surface, removing it with a small snap from the adhesive. The leaf then curled up all the way to the base.
âOh,â Marjorie stated. âWell. A carnivorous plant from an alternate dimension. Donât see that every day.â
âI think Iâll give it to Andrea,â Nancy said with a satisfied smile, picking up the pot. âNothing like a living insect trap to keep your kitchen free of flies.â

Nancy put her hand to her chest over her racing heart and took a deep breath before answering her boss, Marjorie, who was currently at the reception desk near the front of the hotel lobby. âJust a second,â she said. Picking up the magazine from the floor and putting it on the counter, she walked around some of the shelves and displays until she saw what had fallen. âHuh.â
If Nancy got a nickel every time sheâd thought the phrase, âThatâs new,â while working at the Crossroads Hotel, she would probably be able to retire. Being an âintersectionâ of multiple dimensions occasionally made things appear out of nowhere, from objects to weird weather to even the occasional animal. The clatter had been from a ceramic potted plant shattering on the linoleum floor.
A moment later, Marjorie walked into the shop and where Nancy was standing, hands on her hips. âDonât ask me,â Nancy said promptly. âI donât know where it came from.â
âWhere everything comes from,â the manager responded with a small smile. âSomewhere else. You got this?â
âYeah, I got it,â she said with a dismissive hand wave. Marjorie nodded once before turning and walking back through the lobby.
Nancy took a look at the plant, unique as it was. It looked like the pot had been about six inches across, just the type of thing to put on a living room table as a centerpiece. The thick leaves were a gorgeous blue and purple color with white blotchy stripes, and there were deep purple flower blooms growing tall as well. Pursing her lips at the beautiful sight, Nancy couldnât bring herself to sweep everything up and trash it, so instead, she just decided to only throw away the shattered pottery.
First, she went back to the counter and took a dustpan and brush from one of the drawers, as well as her small trash bin. After picking out the bigger pieces of the pot and putting them in the bin, Nancy picked up as much of the plantâs roots and dirt as she could, putting them aside, and then swept up the smaller pieces of shattered clay.
Once that was done, Nancy unlocked and went through the door marked Storage.
The storage area was her domain. As far as any of the employees knew, it was just storage, but they also knew it was so much more. If someone came to Nancy and requested any items, usually Marjorie or the chef Andrea on behalf of a guest or one of the guests themselves, Nancy would go fetch it. And by any items, that meant any items.
Shutting and locking the door behind her, Nancy went down the small hall to the storage room. The hallway had been purposefully added in, so no one could see into the room. Then she took out her wand, going over to her cauldron.
If she had any regrets about working here, it was that she wasnât able to tell those she worked with that she retrieved the items they needed from a genuine large black cauldron in the middle of the room. She knew Marjorie in particular would get a kick out of it. But the fact was that it had been made from solid iron because it contained any magic that was done inside it, since iron repelled magic. It didnât hold a stew, bubbling away like in movies. Instead, there was just a fine mist up to the rim, as if there was dry ice at the bottom.
The rest of the room was mostly empty. There was a long folding table against the wall to the right, for organization of any and all things she needed to give to those whoâd requested them if there was a list. Then there were some shelving units that held boxes full of the sundry shopâs most popular items. Other than that, the room was empty.
The Crossroads Hotel was one of the rare places that had an artifact like the cauldron. Nancy had brought it with her when sheâd started working there, and she knew without a doubt that the fact that she owned one was the reason she was hired.
Any witch could work at a sundry shop, and also it only took about a decadeâs worth of training to properly use the cauldron. Aside from that, playing backup to the wizard who ran the hotel if the occasion presented itself was another thing on a resume that many witches out there had. But owning an artifact that could conjure items was extremely rare, and to be allowed to use them by the authorities was rarer. The witch had to be incredibly trustworthy, since only warded items were safe from its near-infinite reach.
Then there was also the door to her right, which lead to what could more properly be called Storage. It led to another location in a nearby city, a warehouse that stored any and all items that had been left by accident at the hotel. It was a warehouse because they kept things indefinitely, and the hotel had been open for over 150 years. That meant an absolute ton of items.
Nancy took out her wand, closing her eyes, and let herself slip into a calm and tranquil place. Then raising her wand, she spoke, âAfferte mihi ollam parvam plantae ex visu viso ubi multa sunt..â Roughly translated, it came out to, âBring me a small pot for a plant from a sight unseen where they are plentiful.â
Her concentration on the direction and instruction of the spell was just as important as the words spoken and the power directed through her wand. It would take the item from somewhere on Earth where there were a lot of them and one wouldnât be missed, for example a shelf at a closed Walmart, and teleport it to the cauldron. If it was longer than the cauldron was tall, it would allow the witch to pull it out, like a lamp from Mary Poppinsâ purse. And it would work on any item as long as human eyes werenât currently looking at it.
Once the spell had been cast, Nancy slowly drifted her wand around the top of the cauldron, murmuring, âDissipare.â The smoke spread to the sides of the cauldron and dissipated into nothing, letting her lean down and pick up the small white ceramic pot that had appeared. Then, she walked back out to the sundry shop and knelt at the plantâs side. Sweeping together the dirt, she picked up it and the plant, carefully depositing it in the pot. Moving around and patting down the dirt, Nancy smiled in satisfaction.
After sweeping up the rest of the dirt into the dustpan and emptying it into the trash, she fetched a wet paper towel from the bathroom to get the last of it. Then she put it on the counter next to her cash register. Not long ago, theyâd had a visit from some very special fae whoâd been disappointed at the lack of live plants in the lobby. Theyâd remedied that, but Nancy figured theyâd approve of any new live plant she added to the dĂ©cor.
About two hours later, there was another noise, though this time it was a thump. Nancyâs attention was piqued and she stood up, walking out of the shop. It didnât take much time to find the culprit: a cloth bag that looked like it held some kind of sand or dirt, probably about twenty pounds worth.

âHello, Iâm wondering if you could-â She let out a sigh, walking over to the plants that had just appeared. Carefully checking them over for any damage, she shook her head. âHere they are. Youâre the Manager, arenât you?â she asked, glancing to Marjorie. âThis is the Crossroads Hotel?â
âI am and it is,â the young woman replied, walking over from the desk.
At that, the woman, whoâd yet to give her name, Nancy noticed, gave a quick look around to make sure they were alone before waving her hand over the plants. They vanished in an indistinct blur.
âThereâs also a bag of soil in the sundry shop, and a smaller plant,â Marjorie told her.
âOh, good,â she said, turning and walking over, the two employees following her. âThis potâŠthis is new. Did you replant it?â
Nancy nodded. âYes, maâam. It must have fallen from a good height because the pot smashed on the floor. I repotted it because itâs so beautiful. I couldnât imagine putting it in the Lost and Found just to dry up and fade away.â
âThat was so kind of you,â the woman sighed. âI just fixed the issue that was allowing this to happen, but then it was a matter of getting back what I lost. Itâs my fault. I was doing some reworking of my wards and I made a mistake.â
âNo problem at all,â Nancy replied.
âYou know what? Keep the plant as a gift, an appreciation of my thanks for caring for it,â she said with a dimpled smile. âIt will last for years and years and only needs watering once a week, but wonât get any bigger, so this is the perfect spot for it. And Iâd be honored to have one of my plants at the Crossroads Hotel.â
Nancy blinked in surprise. âWell, thatâs quite kind of you!â
âThink nothing of it. Itâs my lifeâs work to find homes for all of my plants, and this one just managed to find a home all on its own. Itâs a variety of pinguicula from where I live, and should flourish without much effort.â She walked around behind the desk and spotted the bag of dirt. With another wave of her hand, it vanished the same way. âYour hospitality is greatly appreciated,â she said, looking from Marjorie to Nancy. âI must be going.â
âIt was nice to meet you,â Marjorie said. Nancy smiled, guessing that the Manager had just felt she needed to say something to wrap up the encounter.
âYou as well.â With another thorough glance around the lobby for anyone who might see, the woman took a few steps through the air and disappeared.
Marjorie took a closer look at the plant, smiling at the flowers that bloomed a good six inches from the leaves. âItâs really pretty.â
âYeah. Iâve got a hunch though, considering how high the flowers are,â Nancy said thoughtfully. She placed the tip of her pointer finger on the tip of one of the leaves, then found it difficult to pull it off of the sticky surface, removing it with a small snap from the adhesive. The leaf then curled up all the way to the base.
âOh,â Marjorie stated. âWell. A carnivorous plant from an alternate dimension. Donât see that every day.â
âI think Iâll give it to Andrea,â Nancy said with a satisfied smile, picking up the pot. âNothing like a living insect trap to keep your kitchen free of flies.â
Marjorie grinned after Nancy as she went off to deliver the gift.

A friend of mine and reader asked me a question about this beautiful flowering shrub that she saw on the edge of Jeromesville a number of years ago that she would pass by on her way to Hayesville regularly. This plant was growing in a large pot and had the biggest trumpet shaped blooms that she had ever seen and were there yet again this past summer. I had seen this same huge shrub on many trips that I made driving towards Mansfield. She asked me what it was and what I could tell her about this plant. This plant was at least 8 feet and maybe 10 feet tall with maybe 18 inches to 24 inches long beige and another was pink trumpet flowers.

I want all my friends that are growing them to know that this plant is well worth growing and with a normal number of constraints you should have no problems growing this plant.
My parents had two different Angelâs Trumpets, or Brugmansia spp, for more than 10 years, which is what this plant is. One was a pink flower, and the other was a white flower. These were both fairly easy to grow for my parents and the white blossomed plant had a very pleasant, sweet scent with a little lemon overtone during the summer evenings. From what my parents said they did like the plants but was a challenge for them to constantly haul the small tree into the house each season. The ones that my parents kept were 4 - 6 feet tall. I remember moving them more than once.
There are good things and bad things to this beautiful plant. This Angelâs Trumpet is a member of the Night Shade family, which means that it can be poisonous. Some plant experts consider the Angelâs Trumpet the most poisonous plant of all tropical plants you may grow. Letâs not sugar coat this fact, if you eat even small amounts of this plant as an adult you could die a very painful death. Personally, I want to spare you the way that the tropane alkaloids affect a person who has eaten any portion of this plant. But these alkaloids are called scopolamine, atropine, and hyoscyamine. One of the other things we need to know is that most of these alkaloids are serious medicines in the hands of our doctors when applied properly. As I have said my parents kept 2 different Angelâs Trumpets for over 10 years and had all kinds of grandkids and great grandkids around these plants and never had any poisonous plant problems, besides most kids know not to eat tomato plants and just eat the tomato. Donât let the kids play with the plants. All said and done I would use caution as I would care for this plant and dish gloves. The rewards are an incredible flower and an amazing scent. I remember the challenges and the rewards were worth it for me. A report from the National Library of Medicine says that from 1978 â 2013 there were only 10 cases of hospitalization because of a mistake in an herbal tea mix worldwide. Most parents will be careful in handling this plant and provide for the safety measures required.

My parents having grown two different Brugmansias found that they did the best with worm castings and kelp as a bi-weekly mild fertilizing routine. Best thing to keep in mind is that this plant will be producing a large bloom and will need fed. These small to medium trees can grow up from 3 to 35 feet tall in its native areas from Chile to Argentina. From the latest information this plant is extinct in their native ranges. When we grow these plants in pots, you will have to prune it. Tomatoes and Angelâs Trumpet are both easy to start from cuttings, which means that starts or cuttings from this plant should root fairly easily. Therefore, you can pass out cuttings from this plant fairly easily and have new ones to back it up.

Our long story begins with the near collapse of the ancient United States of America. â April 10th 2002 CCE Congressman Lincoln Representative of Alabama, 5th District. â Three months, three fucking months. That's how long I got to stay as majority leader of my party in Congress, and now everything has gone to shit. It was April 10th, 2002. The perennial plants that my wife had planted the year before were blooming very prettily. I was back in my home district for the weekend, visiting some old friends and doing some public relations work. I walked into my old study in my house. The smell of old law books hit me hard, and the wave of nostalgia hit just as hard. I went over and plopped into my seat. I threw my briefcase up onto my desk and pulled out my laptop and state issued phone. Even on my vacation days, I still had work to do. As I opened my laptop, my phone began to buzz. I looked down, and the presidential seal filled up my phone screen and under it was a little message that read âUrgent call. Direct line to POTUSâ. This worried me, as the majority whip in the House of Rep. I had personally informed the president of my little break from Congress. He had no reason to contact me, not when he should have been working on reelection campaign endorsements. I took one deep breath, picked up the phone and put it to my ear. âHello Fredrick, I need to call in that one favor you promised me.â He chuckled âGood Afternoon, Mr. President. What do you need?â I said happily, trying to disguise my disgust. For all of my years in Congress, he had kept blackmailing me. And now he was setting me free, as long as I did one last favor. âYou know what's coming up this next election cycle, we are going to lose our power in both chambers.â He laughed a bit, âWe need to cause a bit of ruckus, find for all of our colleagues to stay in office.â âI understand, Mr. President, what exactly do you need me to do?â I asked cautiously. âI had one of my advisors write something into a quite simple bill, and that allows us to disregard the votes of any state in federal elections. We will be controlling the elections until someone finds outâ He stated menacingly. âBut Mr. President, what happens if someone does find out. Both of our heads will roll.â I plead with him. I knew nothing could change his mind, and it was too late. âIf push comes to shove, and you get sued, bring that case all the way to the supreme court. They will make sure it gets upheld.â He said. You could nearly feel him smiling sinisterly. I shook my head, there was no way this man wasn't written by a comic book artist. The supreme court for the past 50 years had slowly become filled with lackeys for my party, which also happened to be the party of the current president. âYes Mr. President. I understand.â I muttered, pushing down the bile, as if my body was physically rejecting betraying my people. Not only that, but I knew what had to be done. I hadn't let my morals interfere with everything I'd done so far. I knew that after death, the only thing that awaited me would be a room in hell. I might as well become a legend down there. I pulled the phone away from my ear. As I took a deep breath in, my mind kept on racing. I was going to have to keep this relatively contained. I pulled my laptop closer to myself and opened it. Sitting in my inbox in my email was the article that the president wanted me to add. âThe validity of votes in federal elections shall be decided by the United States Department of State. The decision that is put forth shall not be questioned. Any elected officials that bring forth arguments of the legality of this bill once passed shall be tried for treason in federal court.â âHoly hellâ I whispered to myself. There was no way this bill could be passed if people read it. That left me with one choice. To cause a distraction so big that once the bill that I used to disguise this article reached Congress, no one would look twice before signing it. I had a few ideas. None of them legal. My first call would have to be with an Iraqi contact. An American deserter whom Iâd done a favor for. He has abandoned post during a guard shift to go smoke with the locals. While he was high, he got into an argument with one of them. He fired his handgun and injured the guy. He ran away and called me. At the time, I was a pretty corrupt politician at the time, and he knew me as a family friend who had some federal jurisdiction over the base he was at. I got someone to smuggle him out of the area he was serving in and brought him to Iraq. He then became my weapons guy. The guy I would call when one of the presidents needed a ceasefire to boost ratings. The guy I would call when we needed to cause a ruckus. His name was Micheal Roans. A good man turned towards a dark path by mistake. My second message was to my Media Contact. She controlled the biggest conservative and liberal new stations in the country. And de facto, I controlled both of those stations. A very useful tool for a party in a democratic state. The only contact between me and her personally was emails containing âStand-byâ indicating I had information for her. All highly important information was handed over through my assistance by hard drive. You never could be too careful. I looked around my study. I then swiveled around in my chair to face the window overlooking my yard. The trampoline we got years ago stood abandoned and covered in leaves. The pool cover was as moldy as ever. I wondered how much worse their condition would deteriorate once I became too busy to send someone to clean the place up at least once a year. How much worse would it be once I was gone. It's never a good idea to think about what might happen when you're gone. So I stood up and pulled the blinds down. I then walked opposite the room to the entrance and brightened the room using the dimmers. It truly was going to be a nightmare for these next few weeks. I then walked back and sat down. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. Not only that, but I could nearly feel the headaches that were about to come. I hate to repeat myself, I just have to reiterate that I just knew that something horrible was coming, and I would be the man signing it off. Maybe this Presidentâs plot would fall short, and I would be brought before Congress and the American people on my knees. Or may his plot and whatever he was planning would work, and I would have been the man who set America on fire.

 | Hello, so i have a 5 gal with some cherry shrimp. The plants i bought when setting up the tank had snail eggs on them. At first i didnt mind but theyre starting to take over. My question is, is there any type of snail eating fish that would be happy in a 5gal? Ive looked into assassin snails but i have a mystery snail id like to keep. Would it be better to move Atlas (mystery snail) into a different tank and then work on the snail problem with assassin snails?? I have a 10gal tank already setup but its got a betta in it, and he eats the snails in his tank so im worried it wont be good. I got diagnosed with BPD in November 2023. I was lucky and able to access three months of outpatient treatment through the public hospital. (In Australia for context).
I am middle aged. I have the BPD trait of impulse spending. I wised up to building âwealthâ and had a small bit of savings after working on saving for 18 months. I have never owned property, always rented and now my minimum wage doesnât cover rent (and Iâm gracefully living with my elderly / ill father. I donât know how long heâs got.)
I quit my job (3 weeks before BPD diagnosis) because of my abusive boss and his horrible daughter. They both made my life hell, I was working 12-14 hour days. He threatened all employees (not just me) but the threat of âweâre going to put you in a PIP and terminate youâ was too much to bear. I am the extreme of sensitive and cry at the drop of a hat. Itâs crap. It had some savings behind me, however, I was unemployed for months and they soon disappeared.
I was bullied as a kid for being poor. I was bullied in high school for being socially awkward / different / gay. Iâve never had a lot of âtrueâ friends, and without my dad, i donât really have someone to reach out to.
I used to be conventionally attractive and rather healthy in my teens. When I finished high school, I lost my first serious relationship where my BPD symptoms were all over the place. My fault 100%. I sometimes go back and write to apologise to them, but choose not to. It brings up too much.
In university I made many friends and for a good 10 or so years we connected, they were accepting of my quirks, life was ok.
Then COVID happened.
(We know how that panned out. Still panning out.)
I also lost friends because of different life paths and how that stuff goes. No one did any wrong, we just drifted apart.
Then when things got back to some sort of ânormalâ; I joined a queer affirming church (religion does play a part in my heart, however, I do not condone abuse, murder, exclusion, and extortion in the name of Religion.)
Iâve made some friends there. They all live rather far away and I havenât been to church since my diagnosis.
I also got a new job in March and I am enjoying it. There are a few downsides, yet only one that irks me.
There is a woman I work with. She is approximately 10 years younger than me. She is one of those âsickly sweet typesâ (100% me issue, not her issue. I know this.)
So far she has stated: - Her fiancé has bought her a 170,000 car - She controls all finances and her fiancés money is put into her account. - She had her braces, current car, and all overseas travel paid for by her brother. - She is about to marry a man who is about to inherit millions of dollars.
Sheâs definitely a bit of a BS artist; I think we all can be, as life is tough. However, ever since her arrival my BPD has flared up. I am poor. Always have been, always will be if I donât change my life.
As DBT costs 21,000 AUD + and is often ran during the day (when Iâm at work); I cannot access it.
My executive disfunction is rife too.
I am not close to my siblings as they are generations older and have their own lives. My extended family isnât close either; my mum was an only child and dad avoided his family due to trauma. I donât have many friends and I can guarantee I am sh*t at being a friend.
I am so lonely, facing tough times because Australia is only for the rich; and I canât move countries to try something different. I only work in admin and I suck at crafts (but enjoy them). I enjoy reading too.
If youâve made it this far, youâre amazing! Thank you for reading my ranting.
My question is: where do I start? Iâm terrified of everything and spend every day suffering from s******l idealisation multiple times a day. Iâm sick of feeling this way and know I could try and make a better life, so why canât I?

I tried to download the World Flora Online Taxonomic Backbone. But I canât get it to open up in excel, itâs too large. I sort of opened it in an online resource called gigasheet but it did not seem to have a complete list of all families (or maybe it was just flowering plants?)
When I go on websites like the catalog of life or the encyclopedia of life, you can certainly do a search for any single item or term; but I donât see a place to just get a straight list of all Plant families.

I been always had an addictive personality rather impulsively doing spurratic shit or simple getting stimulated , an when I say I go hard , I mean what I say I go hard in the paint from injecting heroin fetty,methaphatamines,cocaine,I overdosede 31 times an trying to get my life back in track after falling off five yrs ago on going cycle of rehabs ab shelters, although I slowed down alot or life slowed down I still mess regularly....need help

A few months ago, my (23M) fiancĂ©e of eight and a half years ended our relationship. I think Iâve gotten past the worst of it, but now that Iâve accepted itâs really over Iâm feeling increasingly lonely. This is the first time in my adult life that Iâve been free to do whatever I want whenever I want and yet Iâve never felt so alone and unhappy.
My ex and I were part of a really close friend group, but ever since our break up I feel like Iâve lost most of my friends in that group. We didnât have a bad break up that made the group take sides or anything like that. She moved back to her parents, closer to where those in the group live, while I still live in our apartment an hour away. I donât really talk to anybody from that group anymore except one guy who Iâve been best friends with since high school. He also lives closer to everyone else, so I donât see him often. The group invites me to their activities, but I canât make it most of the time because of my job. My ex is also always there and it feels awkward for me. As I mentioned, we didnât split on bad terms but itâs hard for me to act like our relationship never happened. I only have a couple other friends, none of which live remotely close to me, so I donât ever see them.
I have a really demanding M-F job thatâs been keeping me extremely busy lately, for better or worse. The past month Iâve been stuck in the same cycle of waking up, working 10-12 hour days, eating dinner, falling asleep on the couch, and doing it all over again. Iâve been working a lot of Saturdays too. On weekends I usually just clean my apartment and play xbox. I generally donât leave my apartment on weekends unless I have to work.
Lately, Iâve only been playing xbox with whatever free time I have. Iâm bored of it and I want real human connection. Iâm sick and tired of the same cycle every single day. I know the only way I can meet new people and make new friends is by going out. I live in LA where thereâs pretty much an infinite amount of people to meet and things to do and Iâve got a lot of different hobbies (Lego, D&D, TCGâs, board games). The issue is that I donât know how to talk to new people. Iâve never been good at initiating conversations or making new friends. My ex was, which was the only reason I came to have friends when we were together. But Iâm on my own now. I have to start all over and I have no idea what to do.
I guess this is partly me putting my feelings into writing (which has been surprisingly therapeutic) and a really long winded way of asking for help.
