2024.05.23 08:25 Altruistic-Area-5935 Needing some guidance

Here's my current situation. I'd love some opinions or ideas.
This all "started" (I say that because I think my anxiety has been around for years, just never had physical symptoms, if that makes sense) after my grandma passed away in Dec 2023. Two days after she died, I was driving to the airport to pick up my siblings and I started to feel lightheaded and nauseous, like I might throw up. Pulled over and my mom continued driving. I never passed out or threw up. This would happen a few times again, during driving, until mid Jan. Same symptoms every time.
Then I started to get the same symptoms at the grocery store. The worst was on Feb 20th. I had the worst anxiety attack of my life. My grocery cart was full, I was almost to the checkout and I felt this rush go through my body. Then shaking, nausea, lightheaded, just panic. I had to abandon my full cart and leave the store.
After this I started to suspect it was the medication I was taking. I had started taking Zepbound, which is a glp1. I had lost 20 lbs so I thought, maybe it's from weight loss. Hypoglycemia, blood pressure etc. All of that was fine. I coincidentally started taking Zepbound two days after my 1st anxiety attack. The one on the way to the airport. So I thought maybe the Zepbound didn't CAUSE the anxiety attack, but it could have heightened them?
I also have hashimotos, and I suspected that my thyroid had flipped into hyper. My labs showed my T3 was high, and my TSH was at its lowest ever in my life, 1.42. So I stopped Zepbound and started lowering my thyroid medication. My symptoms didn't improve, but I was convinced it was thyroid or medication related.
I asked my doctor to refer me to an ENT to rule out stuff. ENT said my hearing was perfect. Didn't suspect vestibular migraine and no BPPV and no meniers. ENT referred me to a physical therapist for vestibular therapy. I had my first appointment last week and she diagnosed me with PPPD. My current symptoms are just dizziness and lightheadedness, like walking on a boat. I don't get the nausea, shaking, or feeling like throwing up anymore. I've never passed out but the dizziness is so debilitating. It's not all day, just shows up when I'm exposed to my triggers. Driving, grocery stores, crowded places, conversations with people, haircuts.
Basically she said it's all anxiety related. She was very reassuring that its manageable. She also said a lot of her patients do well on SSRI. I've had Zoloft 25mg sitting in my cabinet for weeks now because I'm not comfortable taking it. I also had my vitamin d checked last week and it was very low, 27. Iron was fine, ferritin 51, b12 408. So I've started taking vit d3 5000iu day.
I've accepted that this is all anxiety related. Could this be low vit d symptoms? My question is, are SSRIs the only option for PPPD? Can you manage this with natural methods? CBD oil? Magnesium? I've never taken SSRI ever and I've been reading some really bad stuff about them, specifically Zoloft. I did recently come across a book called 'How to rewire your anxious brain.' It teaches you how to fight through your anxiety and stand up to your amygdala.
I want to find my root cause. I know that my grandma passing away could've been traumatic but somehow I don't believe that's the cause. I didn't know it was possible for an event like that to change your brain? I was in the room, holding her hand when she took her last breath. So yeah, it was very upsetting for me.
Anyway, I have a therapist who I'm in contact with regularly. I would LOVE to hear some positive feedback/success stories with SSRI's. I'm a mom to a 9 and 7 year old. Stay at home Mom with many many responsibilities and I feel like I'm not who I used to be. I can feel myself detaching from my family and I hate it. I want them to be able to count on me. Thanks for reading!
Just a side note, I've caught more respiratory illnesses than I usually do. Like back to back! I had this nasty cough over Christmas, I never tested for covid, but daughter ended up getting covid a week later. Same with my parents, even my grandpa. So it was going around. Since that illness, I've never fully recovered. I'll get "better", but I still have this deep cough with phlegm. A couple weeks go by and then another cold! That's why I'm thinking is this vitamin d? No fever anything like that. Just a lingering respiratory thing.
Sorry for the novel.

2024.05.23 07:56 rascian038 Don't forget calcium, whose deficiency can cause fatigue and other issues as well

In my previous Keto attempt I had loads and loads of cheese, about 250g x 2 a day, along with meat, but that gave me some issues on it's own and it wasn't that great of a fat to protein ratio, so I decided that this time I'll just completely skip cheese and go for the ultimate elimination diet by only eating meat for a while and then reintroduce things to see what works for me and what doesn't.
I got all the electrolyte supplements and the better bioavailable ones, I learned from my previous attempts that too much water is bad, as well as that way too much salt creates an imbalance with potassium, I had a multivitamin, additional D3 and a 2:1 fat to protein ratio in weight instead of just calories, being somewhat underweight I also made sure to have more than enough calories, so I should have had no issues, right?
Well...I forgot one thing. By eliminating cheese, I also eliminated almost all of the calcium, meat has about 10mg to 15mg of calcium per 100g, which isn't that much at all compared to the 1000mg RDA, even if the RDA is different for Keto, it's still way too little. The multivitamin I had was the cheapest one I could find and while it covered the usual vitamins and a few minerals, I compared it to the usual better multivitamin I used for years and guess what was missing from the cheap one.
I had constant fatigue, but I also got some symptoms I never had before like very low libido and weird tingling feeling around my hands and legs, my mood was also pretty crаppy and I was about to quit the diet, but right at that time the cheap multivitamin ran out and I got the better one, which fixed all the weird symptoms and fatigue in just a few hours. A few hours later I also tried a little cheese and since then I had zero fatigue.

2024.05.23 06:04 LaSinverguenza General questions

General questions
Hello everyone. I am very new to Reddit so I’m sorry if I’m posting something that’s already been asked. I used to Google a bunch of things and a link to Reddit posts with good info always came up so I decided to join. I do have hypothyroidism that I was born with as a little background. Probably important to note that I haven’t been on medication for my thyroid regularly since my mom died when I was 12y (now 32y).
Anyways, I have two questions. One, this was my vitamin D level and my doctor put me on 2,000 units a day. Is this enough to increase me to a normal level? I also think my B12 is a little low but not a concern for the doctor so not being treated for it.
And two, I have a lot of symptoms…mainly anxiety, depression, blurred/strange vision, vertigo, general dizziness, and a crap ton of others. Is my vitamin D level low enough to cause these symptoms or do you know if my untreated thyroid levels would cause these symptoms? I have been suffering for YEARS. Currently kinda bed ridden and just had to quit my job. Really struggling and at this point don’t know if anything is going to help or if this is just my new normal. Any advice is appreciated!

2024.05.22 22:49 Asreal_as_it_gets can you get lung cancer from second hand smoke at 17 yrs old?

this needs a little explanation, but i'm 17f and most of the people around me smoke cigarettes, my mom did when i was still developing and it was worse when i was little too. im worried atm bc i've been coughing a lot as of late, and i do smoke weed( not a lot. like a hit every month or so with my friends) and i stopped drinking alcohol a few months ago because i started antidepressants. i've never smoked cigarettes myself, but my best friends picked up vaping (much to my dismay). im 5'7 197 lbs, and whiter than snow. im not all that worried, but i do have some bad health problems that cause me to get sick much more often as of late (we are trying to get it diagnosed). i take D3 vitamins (i believe it's that). there is a history of asthma in my family as well, on my mom's side. thank you so much for reading

2024.05.22 20:48 Icy_Patience2930 Ginger supplements

I've decided to start taking ginger capsules twice a day(550mg each). Because of an issue with the liquid in my inner ear, I've been hit with nausea and balance issues. I was prescribed a betahistine, but it's side effects are nauseous and dizziness. How nice. My question is, with my normal vitamin stack being a multi, a 1200mg fish oil, and 7500iu of D3, can I continue to take all that while taking the ginger or is there any issue?

2024.05.22 20:00 WishPuzzleheaded76 B12 Injections and neurological symptoms

24M, 196cm, 100kg. I've had severe headaches for around 3 years, and I've tried most of the natural methods of trying to fix them. I've never used painkillers or any medication for the headache. I've only used supplements (D3, K2, Omega-3s, Magnesium, and Zinc), and I've perfected my sleep. 90% of the time, I slept 9 hours and woke up without an alarm clock on most days. My nutrition is 80–90% healthy (I've tried different approaches, but its primarily based on whole foods in every category). And I still felt weak. During my workouts, i felt weakness in my muscles, but i still did the workouts, i felt as if my nerves weren't sending the signals for muscle to contract and i had to somehow force it. And if I do a minimal-dose workout, it helps me feel better, but when I push intensity, I literally get hurt (wrist, lower back, etc.).
In December 2023, I started reading about vitamin B12, and I noticed that symptoms were almost identical to what I was experiencing, so I started using sublingual tablets for 2 months, but it didn't work. Then i went to Doctor, but in my country, you have to wait few months to get to specialist (neurologist) and my symptoms were getting so bad that i felt as if i were sick every day for 2 months (but not traditional flu-like symptoms, just overall weakness of the body and headaches)
Then i decided to start taking OHB12 (Hydroxycobalmine) on my own, and after first injection, all the symptoms went away in an instant. It was like a miracle—no headaches, no body weakness—I could finally train and think properly, and it lasted for around 3 weeks at that 100% recovery, Then i tried to give injections every other day and every 3rd day and then symptoms started coming back. And then i started injecting daily again. And i feel better than i was feeling before i started injecting (100x better; its not a constant battle to survive each and every day), but its not 100% better; its like 40–50% now, b12 is obviously doing something, but it's not a solution to inject daily for life (I am currently going to Doctors and Neurologist trying to figure it out, this is just another way to get help). I sense that it has something to do with B vitamins, but some of you guys might know more.
Thank you in advance.

2024.05.22 18:51 hushhush56 Ferret stole a lick of cat food, can I use it as an occasional treat?

First I want to say that my ferret is very very picky, she only eats her Marshalls food and an egg every couple days (which took a while for her to open up to). So needless to say I was really surprised when she showed interest in my cats food and was wondering if I could give a bit as a little treat.
the main thing I have heard against cat food is that it is not nutritious enough, but it shouldn't matter as a treat much no?
the cat food was

2024.05.22 17:26 Jiople12 Idk if it’s derealisation, it could be something else

I’m extremely tired everyday beyond the point of exhaustion. My family says it’s because I’m currently “unemployed” and I’m going fuck all every day (it’s a long story, I’m not unemployed willingly). They say it’s all psychological due to derealisation and anxiety - maybe some depression too. But they just bring it down to the fact that I’m doing nothing everyday, but it feels like I have absolutely no energy.
I’m nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded.
I take vitamin d3, vitamin b complex, magnesium, and iron every single morning for the last week and I’m still extremely tired everyday.
It really feels like there is something wrong with me beyond anything psychological, my brain feels like it’s floating and I just feel ill. It feels like I’m going to roll over and die any moment. This is awful. The extreme fatigue is debilitating.
Please tell me I’m not the only one.

2024.05.22 15:37 Endonium Vitamin D3 side effects took 2 months (!) to dissipate after being in severe deficiency

I had severe vitamin D deficiency (10 ng/ml) diagnosed in December 2023. I promptly started supplementation with 5000 IU/day the same day I got the results, and later lowered to 1000-2000 IU/day for maintenance.
The first 2 months were absolutely horrible. I was miserable - the main side effect was excessive daytime sleepiness. I was just so incredibly sleepy throughout the day, even with 8 hours of sleep. Even after napping, I was extremely tired. I was also very unmotivated and didn't even have energy for gaming, not just for work.
It went on for so long that I didn't think it could be the Vitamin D3 for so long. But it was. Somewhere in February, I just felt back to baseline, much less tired throughout the day, and I'm still doing okay even with daily supplementation now.
Magnesium had no effect whatsoever on the side effects, even though I've tried multiple forms (Citrate, Bisglycinate, Malate), nor did Vitamin K. It just took time.
If anyone else has trouble with vitamin D3 side effects after being diagnosed with a deficiency, despite taking moderate doses, hang in there! Vitamin D3 apparently behaves as a neuromodulator in the brain, affecting neurotransmitters and brain health, so it makes sense to me it takes time to get used to being sufficient after a long period of deficiency.

2024.05.22 15:07 Dangerous_Counter198 Why do I have crazy High Estradiol as a Natty

Why do I have crazy High Estradiol as a Natty
First time poster here, I got my Bloodwork done because I thought I noticed some puffyness on my nipples (nothing crazy may just be chest fat).
My Estradiol turned out to be crazy high and I have no idea what could be causing it.
  • 22 y/o 179cm and 78kg
  • I am sitting around 17-19% bodyfat (still visible 4 pack)
  • Sleeping well at around 7-8 hours/night
I have been consuming a lot of soy products over the last 2-3 weeks could that be causing an increase in estradiol? also been drinking a lot of cow milk.
For now my first steps would be ending the bulk and going into a cut and I ordered a zinc supplement because I saw that it was supposed to help regulate the hormones?
I'd appreciate any opinions/ suggestions on what to do :)

2024.05.22 14:55 Long_Machine_5206 Safe for goats?

Safe for goats?
This is technically a horse forage based feed, but I’m not seeing any reasons why it wouldn’t also be ok to supplement my goats hay and browsing. I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing any bad ingredients. My horses and goats get most of their nutrition from pasture and their own mineral supplements but I wanted to add an extra calorie source that would be safe for both of them.
