Hello! I'm trying to get back into the game after years and to make a long story short, I want to rebuild some of my favorite decks. My very favorite was an Angel deck that my friend helped me build (<3 Magic Angels), a unique brew of control and powerful Angels for the late game.
I'll try to break down the general concepts at play, and I could really use help from those who know the Modern card pool better than I do. I have made some builds and tested them on MTGO and found success, even against tier decks, but I know it can be much better. While I have received some helpful suggestions from Salvation, those forums are a ghost town now, alas, so I could use some more input from a more active community.
I'm still trying to learn the deeper parts of the game. But I have a dream for this deck and with your help I may just be able to realize it!

Angel, Angel, What Have I Done?

This concept is an Angel tribal because I love four things in Magic most: Angels, Elves, Dinosaurs, and control. My friend helped me create a unique Angel style that utilized cards like Mana Tithe, Lapse of Certainty, a whole lot of wraths, Quicksilver Amulet, and some pretty heavyweight Angels. Game plan: slow it down early, then bring out the lovely ladies late game to crush the opponent. It was lots of fun!
Here is the post I made on the Salvation forums that lists all the cards and options and things I'm considering, but in case no one wants to look there, I'll just copy the relevant stuff over here.
The biggest problems before were a lack of meaningful card draw that wasn't purely creature-based (I want to keep this tribal) and ramp. There are more options now, and some more versatile cards that in my testing have been all-stars. When it worked well, I had a pretty good time, as the control package early gave me a chance to set up for the later advantage—and "flashing" in a turn 5 Iona, Shield of Emeria through QA against a mono-colored deck is always a good time.
I have, at times, splashed green in the deck. I wanted to keep it mono-W, but adding some green may not be a bad idea. For one, I've received some great suggestions like [[Smuggler's Surprise]], and various flavors of Sigarda are also helpful.
Green does open some ramp and potential draw options, as well, although I'm finding Palantír of Orthanc to be pretty helpful in this deck. They can only afford to deny your draw a couple times, at most, before those high-MV Angels kill them.
On with the show!

Removal/Wraths

I used:

• Path to Exile
• Wrath of God
• Austere Command
• Sunblast Angel

Even in a slowdown-style deck, Austere Command feels a bit slow, and/or is probably made obsolete by Farewell? Though it is pretty easy to customize it to work for me.
What strong removal options do we have? Get Lost seems good to me, and after a lot of testing, I've found Soul Partition to be kind of a sleeper hit. It doesn't even give them anything right out the gate, and it's possible to counterspell or use Silence to stall their recasting. I may trade it out for Get Lost because I feel like Map tokens are not too worrisome—this deck is pretty strong against creature decks, anyway.
Do we look at Farewell? Settle the Wreckage?
Also, I have found the versatility of [[Final Showdown]] to be intriguing. When testing it, I've been able to use its various modes to my advantage frequently. It's expensive, especially if you want to use it as an emergency wrath, but it can be effective, and the element of surprise is powerful. Considering how well I can often stall the game, is this one worth considering more?

Utility

This is definitely an area in which I could use help. I've used things like Quicksilver Amulet, Endless Horizons, and Leyline of Sanctity (both for early devotion ramp and for warding off discard, burn, etc.).
I love Endless Horizons. I'm always scared it'll get blown up, and I know you don't have to necessarily pull every single Plains with it, but it's still a scary prospect. It's such a unique card. Is this worth another look?
Leyline of Sanctity maindeck? It's nice to have some proof against discard, and sometimes the early/free devotion helps me ramp out some of the higher-cost Angels. Or is this purely a sideboard card?
If I splash green, I've considered Time of Need to go after specific legendaries for a specific situation. Or if mono-W, Search for Glory?
Do I want to ramp with stuff like Flagstones of Trokair or is that too many moving pieces?
Again, with green, there's stuff like Explore, which seems to be a very popular card. I want non-creature-based ramp (except maybe for Giada, Font of Hope). This seems viable?
What about card draw? I'm guessing Secret Rendezvous is not the best option (though the game plan is banking on my late game answers being better than theirs).
Palantír of Orthanc feels kinda amazing. Do I go with that?
One suggestion I rather like is Smuggler's Surprise over Quicksilver Amulet. More mana up front, but more of an immediate effect, as well. Amulet costs 8 total mana to put out a creature. Smuggler's Surprise would be hilarious in many situations. As one helpful user pointed out, surprise drop Serra's Emissary and Iona, Shield of Emeria into play and things should work out.

Control

The fun part! There's still nothing quite like Mana Tithing someone's spell away. I also used to use Chancellor of the Annex, but I have mixed feelings there. The pre-game thing is nice but if you don't have ramp, then you're stuck with a 7MV creature in your hand, and the opponent knows it.
Silence has been kind of an all-star for me when used in that Time Walk sort of way. No, it doesn't prevent them from activating what's on the field, but it's been great early to mid game to shut down whole turns of spells or force their hand with instants, all for 1 mana. I had someone pull out Ancestral Visions and an extra-turn suspend one with Paradox Haze the other day. I popped Silence at the beginning of that turn and they immediately quit. xD
Orim's Chant will be in Modern. I'll use it instead of Silence, but I'm considering it in addition to Silence. More opportunities to stuff spellcasting for a turn, especially against something that isn't instant-heavy or needs to do things on the main phase still (which is almost everyone I play against). This strategy has even let me stall out Goblins long enough to hit wraths before they could get going, and against slower decks it does help me disrupt them to a degree.
Originally, I also used Lapse of Certainty with the deck. Lately, I've been using Reprieve. The cheaper cost and the cantripping really makes it useful. It puts the card back in hand rather than on top of the library, but I've found the tradeoff to be worth it.
Rebuff the Wicked feels too narrow for me, and I have also used Dawn Charm, but not sure if it's worth a slot.
Do I consider Rule of Law-type effects?

Creatures

There are too many good ones here to choose from! I had a lot of awesome Angels in this deck throughout its lifespan. It started with some control-based ones, then later iterations incorporated more legendary ladies. I've used all of the following at various points, and love them all:
• Iona, Shield of Emeria is not something you hard-cast, of course, but she's awesome when you get her out. Turn 5 with QA is great and hard to deal with, or just wins on the spot against mono-colored decks. • Reya Dawnbringer is so cool but I think she doesn't do enough these days. Too many ways to stop her greatest strength, and way too expensive if you can't cheat her out. • Akroma, Angel of Wrath is an all-time fave. Who doesn't love keywords? • Avacyn, Angel of Hope is my favorite creature of all time and I'm so mad WotC fridged her. So great when you get her out early and can wrath away with impunity. The few times I got her out and had Leyline of Sanctity and/or Sigarda, Host of Herons, I felt pretty invincible. Like most other creatures here, great for devotion, too. • Linvala, Keeper of Silence won me a lot of games when I could keep her protected. • Sigarda, Host of Herons is awesome and helped me stop worrying about annihilator so much. • Gisela, Blade of Goldnight again wasn't really feasible outside of cheating her out, but certainly has a powerful effect. • Shalai, Voice of Plenty gets a lot done, and I admittedly do love shield effects. • Basandra, Battle Seraph is awesome (gods, that art) but requires the red splash, and the effect is less than what I need. • Sunblast Angel is a wrath on a nice body. What's not to like? • Angelic Arbiter is so much mana but so fun. • Baneslayer Angel. Great art. Cool stuff. • Archangel of Tithes is awesome. Great devotion, tough customer against aggro. • Angel of Jubilation has killer art and a great effect I really liked, plus more devotion. She helped me disrupt a lot of strategies. • Chancellor of the Annex is nice, but feels very feast-or-famine to me. Of course, I'm far from the most experienced, so maybe perception differs among veterans. I do love her ability to stuff early plays, but is it enough? • Resplendent Angel is great, and it's nice to have lower-cost creatures, but I don't typically have enough lifegain, especially if I'm not running Baneslayer or Lyra.
I'm also considering stuff like Lyra Dawnbringer. I won a game the other day where I stabilized at 1 life. Having the ability to gain life (and fast) wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, and really helps cement this deck as strong against aggro decks, right? But then, aggro decks aren't often its biggest weakness. It's why I need to have some disruption/control (in the form of spells and legendary Angels) to stuff combos and such.

Lands

I mostly used basic lands you'd think of for this throughout its lifespan.

• Emeria, the Sky Ruin (my favorite land ever)
• Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
• Cavern of Souls

If I splash green, I'll probably need Temple Garden and fetches and stuff. What else? Gemstone Caverns? Flagstones of Trokair?
I suppose I should have Field of Ruin or something, maybe, though I'm not sure it's worth bothering with.

Advice Needed!

Someone on here posted recently asking about the Mormons and I have been thinking about writing an expose on them for a while so I took that as a sign. That along with recent events has motivated me to write this. Here is my expose.
Firstly, I was born and raised Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah, am fully ordained into all of their secrets, and am the child of a very prominent and high ranking member of the church. All of my facts are from direct personal experience.
The Mormon church is and always has been a Zionist entity. This in my opinion is why the temple rituals are kept so secret. They don’t want you to know it’s actually for Zion.
The first rule of the temple is you don’t talk about the temple, or at least what goes on inside. This is a covenant they make with God while they’re in the temple. They promise to never speak about it to anyone uninitiated. There are even signs and tokens exactly like in freemasonry including the secret handshakes. Traditionally the secret handshake or “grip” was used to identify those who are initiated into the secrets. If both people grip the hand in a certain way then they know they are both initiated and can speak freely.
So why is the temple so secret? I’ve always wondered that myself but now in light of recent events it makes perfect sense. It’s Zionism.
Don’t let the beautiful and varied exteriors fool you. The interior of every single Mormon temple is an exact replica of the inside of the temple of Solomon. Being raised Mormon you obviously ask questions about the temple even though you’re not allowed to be initiated until 18 years old. Most people you ask about it will simply tell you to read the old testament (Torah) specifically the chapters detailing the building of the temple of Solomon. They tell you that that will tell you everything you need to know about the interior of the temple. And for the most part it does. Every single Mormon temple is an exact replica of the temple of Solomon on the inside. Every last symbol is there including the holy of holies and a veil (a curtain) separating you from the “celestial room.” You even have to shake a hand that pokes out from the veil and give it a specific grip to get through the veil. It’s like the password to heaven.
There is a baptismal font in every Mormon temple that sits atop 12 oxen in a circle. Beginning at the age of 12 people do “baptisms for the dead” where the living person is symbolically baptized into the Mormon church for the deceased person. They do it for literally everyone. If you could look into the church’s records I guarantee you would find most of your deceased relatives have been baptized into the Mormon church posthumously. I have even done a few of them myself. You can bring in names you know if you like but ultimately the church has massive lists of names of deceased people who have not been baptized yet. Have you ever heard about how Mormons are so obsessed with genealogy? Yeah, that’s why. That’s how they make the list of names of all the dead people who haven’t been baptized yet.
The covenants are terrible. You’re raised knowing that you’ll have to make covenants with God in the temple but they refuse to tell you what they are until the moment you’re in the temple making them. They tell you you can walk out if you don’t agree but who’s really going to do that? The covenants are made in a group setting. Mine were made in a group of maybe two dozen people. Especially considering the setting you’re in (extremely sacred to Mormons) you’re not going to walk out. That would be sacrilege.
Most of the covenants aren’t so bad. Basically don’t cheat on your spouse and be an honest person. I can get behind that. The last covenant is the big one though. At the very end they sneak in a covenant making you promise to give everything you have to the Mormon church. Literally. In no uncertain terms you promise that everything you have in this world belongs to the church. Do you remember when Mitt Romney was running for president? There was this massive uproar (rightfully so) because he was an initiated Mormon. Word got out about this covenant that Romney made and I believe a video of him making it in the temple even came out (you renew your covenants every time you go by redoing the ritual). Obviously this should be concerning to anyone with two brain cells to rub together. A future president of the US having made a promise to a church to give them everything he has. Yeah, that’s terrifying.
So this post is already quite long and I have much more to write. It looks like the rest may need to be in some follow up posts. If you like this and want more then like it so I’ll know people are interested. I don’t want to write a series of long posts just to yell in the wind. I've been trying to run a playthrough using Trailblazers quick and dirty, ai overhaul lite, Extended encounters and Radiance with interesting npcs on x1s. Problem is, via Sage advice and digging I feel as if my LO may be too intensive for my console. Getting things like shorter draw distance and npcs popping up right in front of me letting me know the system is taxed. I wish use Fashions of the fourth era and enhanced blood textures lite.
I really noticed a problem when all the textures and assets of outer Rittenhouse completely disappeared early on a level 6 character, so I've gotta face the music and cut some things out.
My ultimate goal is to at least be able to run interesting npcs together with Trailblazers quick and dirty but I'm not sure if that's possible.
Can anybody take a look at this LO and let me know what needs to be cut to make this possible? Should I just stick with interesting npcs (what I originally used) and get rid of Trailblazers and the encounter mods? Does elfx make things heavy performance wise too?
I'm willing to cut down on things to have the npcs (this is for someone going through a tough time and they like that they can escape their situation in "another world" so any help is greatly appreciated even if it is a "no, it can't be done".

Unfortunately m8r98a4f2 is MIA, and his phenomenally excellent StarUI series of mods are stuck in limbo.
Hope (s)he's OK, and comes back to us soon!!
I've done a *little* poking around, and I'm absolutely amazed by how clever the StarUI mod is.
It doesn't "cheat" at all, as far as the system is concerned, because it replaces the animation files (.swf) that drive the menus -- no console commands or anything -- clever as hell!
I was able to use JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler to look through the mod (still haven't figured out everything I did to get to that point -- I was throwing a font error originally)
I don't know how to fix the HUD (yet) but I have some idea on the Shipbuilder:
There seem to be three areas of the ActionScripts:
ShipPartData - Seems to be a library mapping FormID's to their relevant Hull/Mass/PoweDamage etc...
ShipPartInfoFetcher and ShipVariantInfoFetcher LOOK like they might feed this ShipPartData construct, but I haven't poked through to see everything that's happening.
MAYBE this is enough for some of you out there who do this stuff regularly to go "oh heck yeah, I can fix this in 10 minutes!!"
But I don't have any experience editing SWF's and my JPEXS is crashing (can it even upload changes back??)
Any insight from y'all on 1) -- is m8r ok?? and 2) how do we carry this on if they've decided to move on? Anyone with the SWF background that would consider describing how they'd go about applying the fix?
Basics that I could think of:
How do we get the FormID's for all the new habs? -- This seems to be the only part that's really breaking.
I would suggest that ShipPartInfoFetcher at least is working (mostly) -- as the mod works with DerreTech and Darkstar Astrodynamics, and it does well with variants from Darkstar -- so the ability to dynamically get the info without the formid's all prepopulated into ShipPartData has to be at least partially working, unless I completely understand how those two built their parts.
There's PROBABLY a flag in the empty habs that needs to be accounted for (BGS could've done something like create a new variant on the parent formid that can only differentiate itself with this new flag??) which would suggest that the ShipVariantInfoFetcher is where we need the most attention.
How would you go about debugging this? What can you do to get verbose/debug logs out of the SWF?
How would you update the SWF with the modified ActionScripts?

-More rewards with less companions. Make them lose strategy time
-More rewards that are actually life experiences and give opportunities for funny moments like Ethan, Lex & Big Tom in Africa’s rewards (goats, safari)
-More late night challenges with night stories from Jeff about the history of the place that go directly to tribal with no time to prepare
-Quiz challenge based on knowledge of other contestants. Too many self centered egoists that need to be knocked down a peg
-Tree mail needs to be creative again, not corporate postcards. I wanna see that serial killer font on like a fish skull or something
-Less idols and advantages
-Penalties for failing immunity challenges after refusing to not play for rice. Fail holding on to the pole for 1 minute? Lose your vote
-Change up the order votes are read. Too predictable
-Allow cheating. Someone stole your idol before tribal? That’s rough, buddy.
-More severe weather. Tribes need to fear the elements like in the Outback
-One person that doesn’t speak any English
-Special season where everyone lives at the same camp. New tribes are formed for every immunity challenge and disbanded after tribal.
-Crew haunts players at night. Jeff makes up some legends about cryptids/mythical creatures/legends and the crew brings them to life

Andddd I stopped listening to the podcast around the Dr. Pie Laundry Guy but have stayed up to date with everything via this sub.
I have a huge interest in dating culture, human behavior and data similar to Ali and this little project of mine was really interesting once I got the framework of this list. I started this list once I found this sub in December 2023 and started re listening to the Patreon while working out (and lost 10 lbs ayeee) and writing down information in my notes app. I did my best to keep this list unbiased and just give facts and information that was said.
My own thoughts after making this list is that I'm very sad for Ali. I didn't realize the extent of her dating history. I think about my own dating history or even my friends who are in their 30's and dating and Ali's dating lore runs so deep. Is Ali unlucky with love? Did she pass on someone that could have been great for her? How has she had so many dates with little success in a long term partner or even going beyond 6-8 dates? Or is Skyline the person she has been waiting for? What's the pattern with all this dates/men? So many questions.
I truly do hope Ali finds her guy because I believe theres someone for everyone. Until then, I'll be hopping into this sub (cause y'all are too funny and give the best advice) and waiting for Ali to find Mr. Height.

To all May 2024 CPALE takers, 1 week from now you will be taking the CPA Licensure Exam. I know that you worked hard to get into this moment. Trust yourself, your RC and your gained knowledge as you take the board exam.
Last May 2023, ito yung mga ginawa ko 1 week before yung cpale.
1) Monday to Wednesday, pinasadahan ko yung preweek ng RC ko. Basa basa and tinignan pano nasolve. This time di na ako nagcocompute like binabasa ko na lang yung tanong then just checking if after ko basahin yung tanong napoprocess ba ng isip ko kung pano siya ma compute.
2) If may notes ka, this is the perfect time na gamitin mo yan. Just scan it and all para ma refresh ka lang.
3) Yung last 3 days before the exam itself, di na ako nag aral. Literal na relax na lang and ikalma ang sarili at isip. Do whatever you want na magpapa relax sayo (pero please avoid muna mag basketball or other sports dahil baka ma injury pa days before CPALE). Kumbaga cheat days mo yan.
4) 2 days before yung CPALE, prepare mo na yung lahat ng kailangan mo dalhin sa testing center. Do a checklist ng lahat ng need mo dalhin para walang makalimutan. Baka sa sobrang excited mo NOA pa makalimutan mo patay tayo dyan hahaha. Please prepare this in advance para iwas hassle and stress if ipeprepare mo pa ito ng madaling araw during the first day mismo.
5) The day before the exam, I went to St. Claire (sa may Katipunan) to attend the morning mass and magpadal sa madre. No need naman sa St. Claire ka pumunta, pero I suggest na 1 day before the exam is magpunta ng church para magsimba and manghingi ng guidance. Also, this is the time din to check if pano ba yung way of commute papunta sa testing site mo if malayo distance sa bahay nyo (you can do this naman pala kahit 2 days before the exam kayo na bahala)
During the 3 days straight CPALE ito naman yung mga ginawa ko.
General Tips
Please kumain kayo ng bfast. This is non negotiable kahit light lang basta magkalaman lang yung tyan nyo. Mahirap mag isip kapag gutom kaya kumain ng bfast.
Sa first day, need na maaga kayo as per the memo from PRC. If you will be having your commute at alam mong malayo distance ng bahay mo sa testing site mag allocate ng extra time for the traffic and unexpected happenings sa daan. Wag malelate at baka di na makapasok sayang naman yung chance na makapag take ng boards.
Arrive early sa testing site para magpagpag ng kaba (if kinakabahan) and para ma feel mo din yung testing center mo. As you enter sa room assign sayo please lang alisin mo na yung kaba/nerbyos sa katawan mo since di ito makakatulong sayo habang nag eexam and it will cause you mental block.
DAY 1 (CPALE)
MS first subject and AUD second subject. Before the exam, sinasabi ng proctor kung ilang pages yung exam and naka set A at set B ito. Kapag narinig nyo kung ilang pages wag kakabahan utang na loob! Kaya dumadami yung pages kasi malalaki yung font na gamit nila kaya mostly 1 to 2 problems lang nagkakasya sa isang page. Pagkatanggap ng questionaire bilangin agad if complete ba yung pages tapos scan nyo simula hanggang dulo para ma check nyo if saan ba maganda mag simula na makaka kuha ka ng momemtum sa pagsagot. Also, manage your time wisely since this is a 3hrs exam. Kung ako sayo, sasagarin ko na yung 3hrs if ever maaga ako matapos magsagot irereview ko ng paulit ulit yan and make sure na tama yung na shade ko na answer. Pwede nga pala sulatan yung questionaire, ang ginagawa ko non is sinusulat ko sa gilid ng # sa questionaire yung sagot ko if sure na ako. Then sa mga items naman na di pa ako sure, naglalagay lang ako ng initial answer para just in case di ko na mabalikan eh medj may chance yung hula ko.
During lunch break na for sure yung pinaka mabagal na oras ng buhay nyo hahahahaa kasi 2hrs yon and after mo kumain wala na kayo gagawin kasi bawal din magreview and bawal mag usap. So eat your lunch and power nap na lang.
DAY 2 (CPALE)
Ito kahit di na kayo maaga dumating sa testing site, kahit mga 7am pwede na pero be mindful pa rin sa traffic kasi Monday ang araw na ito. First subject here is Tax and second naman is RFBT. I highly suggest na umuwi agad after day 1 and day 2 para makapag pahinga.
DAY 3 (CPALE)
Dito sa last day bigay nyo na lahat. Dapat kondisyon ang daliri mo dito pati calcu mo kasi puro compute since FAR ang first subject at AFAR naman ang second subject. After this day, makakahinga na kayo ng maluwag since its over tapos na ang board exam.
Sa 3 days straight na board exam labas mo na lahat ng alam mo sa accounting.

I was wondering what font is best for cheat sheets, thank you for trying to help me

Just so I can bring everyone to the same page of context before actually starting the story.
World of Darkness: A setting of TTRPG’s that take place in a darker grittier version of our reality, where supernatural creatures such as werewolves, vampires, wraiths, mages and so on, exist and hide from the public eye creating their own means of protection, politics and secret societies to protect themselves against humans.
Werewolf the apocalypse/Werewolf 5th edition/Werewolf 20th edition: Is the setting/system where you play as werewolves and fight the enemies of the spirit of earth Gaia. Werewolf 5th edition is the newer system and werewolf 20th edition is an older system.
Vampire the masquerade/ Vampire 5th edition/ Vampire 20th edition/VTM: It’s the World of darkness system where you play as a vampire sneaking through the shadows of cities and feeding on humans. Vampire 5th edition is the newer system, Vampire 20th edition is the older system.
Storyteller: It's the World of Darkness way of saying “Dungeon Master”, the one that runs the campaign/Chronicle.
Flaws, Merits and Backgrounds: I can explain them as essentially D&D feats but with levels to it that determine how mechanically strong the “feat” you picked up is, I can mention one where you can make bullets bounce off surfaces to hit targets and it decreases the difficulty for hitting a target behind cover or being so shockingly beautiful that you gain extra dice when you are trying to seduce someone. Backgrounds are like feats but that need to be explained by your backstory, like magical pacts, riches or even spirit pacts. And flaws are mechanical and role-play disadvantages that you need to pick on character creation, like having an enemy or being illiterate.
Actual story:
So, I’ve been a forever Storyteller ever since I got to know World of Darkness and I was aching to drop the whole responsibilities as a Storyteller and for once enjoy this rich urban fantasy setting as a player thrown into the night as any of the multiple splats. So, I saw that someone just posted a werewolf 5th edition chronicle and applied, Werewolf 5th ed is not my cup of tea, but I’m the type that is desperate enough and open minded enough to just go ahead and try any system that I can get my hands on, so when the Storyteller of that chronicle dmed me the link to join his discord server I was just overjoyed.
I started interacting with other players, they all seemed pretty nice and I even started to plan a shared backstory with one of the girl players that was pretty nice to me (I’ll call her Avery, as she is part of the horror story too). So as me and Avery were planning the shared backstory we started to wonder what some of the merits and backgrounds mechanically did within the setting as I wanted spend all of my 7 merit points (everyone gets 7) into a specific advantage called spirit pact where I essentially made a pact with a powerful spirit to make them my companion and give me a minor supernatural ability/edge, however, how fantastical these edges and how the spirits behave varies from storyteller to storyteller as some like something more fantastical while others prefer something more realistic, so I reached out to him to get some more context on how crazy I could make the pact.
Several days passed and he didn’t replied my question at all, nor any other ones I made as I wanted to know if my knowledge about werewolf 20th edition lore would help at all (Werewolf 5th edition and Werewolf 20th edition have big lore differences despite being set in the same universe, so I needed to know to not metagame and/or ruin continuity) but well, I thought that he was just a busy guy, I mean, he was also running a Vampire the masquerade game in the same server, so I was just planning on tackling these doubts I had on Tuesday when the session started. But, then I saw one of the players in the server asking for help on how to set their character sheet as apparently they were lost on what to do, so I went ahead and offered to join VC with him and run him through the character creation, I’ll call this player OZ and he is the star of this cheating story.
So as I joined VC he just asked me how the Gifts, rites and renown system works, with Gifts and Rites being the akin to werewolf magic and renown being what you use to cast magic per say. After that he said he didn’t had no other doubts and so we started a conversation in world of darkness as a whole, there he showed me that he had pretty extensive knowledge on how Vampire the Masquerade functioned, telling me old lore related to Vampire 20th edition such as a specific bloodline of the Tzimisce vampire clan (that instead of their trademark flesh crafting ability had an extremely powerful blood magical superpower) and he even told me that he participated on several vampire chronicles before in the past and well, since he seemed to know what he was doing and there was a big, pretty simplified how to make your character summary right on the first page on the “how to make your character” section, I thought that he’d not have any other issue, as character creation (at least in the 5th editions of World of Darkness books, in my opinion.), got pretty simplified and are the types where if you understand how to create one character you can created all. So after some more talking and a friendly remind that I’m also a regular storyteller that loves to help newbies and so my dms are always open, I left the call.
Oz posted his character sheet on the server for the Storyteller to review and approve and well, he did within a literal minute of him posting it (something that at the time I didn’t noticed as I doing something else and well an experienced Storyteller could’ve noticed if he did anything wrong within a minute, so I really thought he didn’t do anything wrong and simply attended to my business). However, on Sunday Avery decided stop procrastinating and finished her character sheet, finally the whole crew had their character sheets done and since they were publically available I decided to take a peak and see what we as a pack would have as our arsenal and so on. However, when I looked into Oz’s sheet things got a bit rocky.
So, to start to addressing the problems I’ll say that Oz didn’t use a regular werewolf 5th edition sheet, no, he used an abomination (aka a vampire werewolf) sheet to actually make his character to begin with and not only that, he was way, way too op for a werewolf that just had their first change. And how OP you might ask? Well, I started to question him about it and he said that he picked a skill distribution called “Specialist” a skill distribution type that offers the following: One skill at four points, Three skills at Three points, Three skills at Two points and Three skills at one point, a skill distribution that makes your character very good at something, good at some other areas but lacking in several others, however, Oz in this particular moment has the following distribution: One skill at four points, five skills at three points, six skills at two and three skills at one and aside from that, instead of having spent 7 merit points he had spent 10 and for some reason he had also 4 specialities allocated all on his physical skills, something that is just not possible at character creation as the book specifically say that you can only add new specialities on these specific skills Academics, Craft, Performance, and Science IF you actually bought them upon character creation something that he totally didn’t do.
I know this must be hard to imagine how much stronger he was than the rest of the party, so to bring it down to a more digestible context, the amount of xp you’d need to get to get that strong is Storytellers in werewolf 5th edition are recommended to give out the following amount of XP per session:
Participation = gives you 1 XP
Perform something remarkable during the session = Gives you 1 XP
Use a Skill, Gift, or other Trait in a clever or critical way =Gives you 1 XP
“Tell me something important your character learned this session.”= Gives you 1 XP
Conclude a story within the greater chronicle = Gives you 2–3 XP
This means that if he concluded all of the requirements above he’d get a minimal of 6xp and a max of 7 xp. However, not all session you can use a gift in a creative way, not all session you can perform something remarkable and not all session you conclude an important story within the chronicle, this means that great majority of the time we’d be getting 2-3 XP per session, yep, no World of Darkness game is the type that you go from zero to hero and with that in mind, he’d need (if my calculation are correct) 114 XP to actually level up his PC to be that strong, something that it would take 35-40 sessions to normally get.
When I started to question him how he exactly got so many skill points and merits he said that the storyteller approved of his character and that he just filled stuff up. I proceeded to just inform him the right skill spread for specialist and what he did wrong on his sheet and he said that he’d fix it despite the fact that the storyteller approved of his character. After that 40 minutes passed and there was silence of both the storyteller and the player just so he’d post a new character sheet, this time containing the spread of One skill at 4 points, Three skills at 3 points, Six skills at two points and three skills at 1 point, with his merits still being 10 points and still keeping the 4 specialities. At this point I started to think that he was trying to sneak some extra skill points, specialities and merits through me, because there is no way he didn’t understood what needed to be fixed when my message has attached to it literally a print from the core rule book with the details on the specialist skill spread and what he needed to change was literally:
“You have 10 merit points instead of 7, you have one extra HP that you shouldn’t have, (Hp is calculated by adding Stamina + 3 and his stamina was 3, he has 7 hp there when he should actually have 6), you still have 6 skills at two points instead of what specialist gives (3 skills at 2 points). You have 4 specialities even though you didn’t pick Academics, Craft, Performance, or Science that are the only skill trees that actually give you free specialities, otherwise you’d just start with 1.”
At this point I started to reach out to Avery and ask for her opinion on that, so she pinged Oz and the Storyteller on chat only to ask thing like “have you guys read the book” specially because he was trying passively aggressively shift the blame on his google search that apparently “mixed up werewolf 20th edition character creation rules” that he had just “skimmed through the book due to a lack of time, that he had “no help at all creating the character and had no idea on what he was doing”. I just want to emphasize that me and Avery were not trying to intimidate him at all, nor try to get a confession out of him or anything, our questions were just about if they (OZ and Storyteller) read the book or not and about what fonts Oz used to generate that character. I was really trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he was just very misguided by some crazy algorithm and coincidence, but it was a very hard pill to swallow when you consider his previous knowledge about world of darkness system, the fact that I found a full fleshed out character creation guide on Youtube by simply typing “Werewolf 5th edition character creation guide” on Youtube at the fact that he used “I thought you didn’t want to stay on VC with me by your tone of voice” when me and him the other day were having such a lovely chat and I told him multiple times that my DM’s were open in case he needed any help and if he didn’t want to bother me he could’ve just asked help on our discord server instead of making his super Saiyan werewolf. Now, at this point of the story you’d think the Storyteller would’ve at least said something, right? But hah, no, look at the tittle again, he was just DEAD SILENT.
Oz then proceeded, while we were talking, to post his last character sheet update for us, reducing his merit points to 8, and his skill points to the following: 1 skill at four points, 3 skills at three points, four skills at 2 points and three skills at one point. At this point he was either fucking with us or straight up ignorant of the rules completely, so me and Avery wanted to talk to him over VC and explain the rules to him in case he was actually just a newbie completely lost on how it all worked and if he was actually a cheater, talk to him to stop doing that and offer him new solutions for his character in case he wanted a better skill distribution, he refused to join VC with us because he was “working” until late despite his discord saying that he was playing League of legends. So instead me and Avery decide to join early before session (that was supposed to be the day after all of this happened), settle what happened and properly help him make a character, and well he agreed to it.
So fast forward to the following day, the Storyteller remained completely silent through out the whole night, morning and afternoon and two hours before the session I simply pinged Avery and Oz to see if they could join VC so we could talk it out in about 1 hour, OZ simply left the server without saying anything and I stared at my computer screen for 2 minutes before I went out to do something else. After that me and Avery joined VC a bit before session started and hang out and talk about the situation… Almost a whole hour passed and the Storyteller or any of the other players didn’t even hop on VC, it got to the point where the Avery sent a message to the Storyteller and just then he hopped on, the first thing he said? “Sorry guys, I was on another session that I joined this week and I didn’t thought it’d take this long”.
I never got so mad in my entire life, I’ve been a forever Storyteller for the past years and I was so excited to actually be the PLAYER, but despite that I needed to keep civil. Me and Avery informed him of the situation that Oz was most likely cheating, and the Storyteller said that “He was going to talk to him” not even knowing that Oz had left the server almost 3 hours ago, me and Avery just proceeded to ask him what he was going to do next and he said that he was going to call out the whole chronicle, so me and Avery just proceeded to tell him how disappointing the whole thing was and give him a few words of advice on how to improve before we left VC. Later the same night he announced that he wanted to retire from world of darkness as a whole and tried to pass the responsibility on running his vampire chronicle for someone else, after that I just left that server and friended Avery.

Hey boils and ghouls. One of those posts lol.
So, I returned to the game a few weeks ago, for the first time since the winter update. Since then, my game crashes about 90% of the time I try to so much as load a save. I've gone through and removed mods I thought were a problem (example, people swear up and down Open Cities has conflicts with modern mods, so I took it out). No, I did not do this mid playthrough. Ive reinstalled the game from scratch once, I've cleared reserve space a few times and started fresh, I've started like 4 characters to test. I'll be running just fine, aside from one file that was hard crashing at the Mirmulnir fight (first dragon fight outside Whiterun).
With any character, it goes alright until I make a save and leave the game. Then, upon attempting to load, I get two seconds into the load screen and CTD. Am I using anything known to be problematic, have things in a screwy order, or missing patches I should have? I appreciate any suggestions!

So I had to kill my stable vanilla + LO the other day and have been trying to make a new and improved LO for the past couple of days (I'm a bit green at the whole nodding scene). Problem is, when I boot up the game and walk around in the game crashes. I've tried disabling various mods to find the culprit but haven't figured out what it could be (on top of the missing textures for lanterns but I can look past that. I had to let go of Skyland for quests so I'm morning the loss of a beautiful skyrik anyway T__T).
My goals are: To play really dope rp/ choice heavy quests
And to have a plethora of new generic characters that I can recruit as companions or tell my own story with. This part is very important to me but I can't seem to find a reliable mod that just adds a fee generic npcs you can safely add to your party without crashes. The ending part of this story happened a week ago, but i waited a week before writing this just to be more sure that the stuff that happened was caused by the games anti cheat, and i can confirm (for now at least) that the problems stopped after completely uninstalling nprotect gameguard and helldivers 2 from my system.
Just let me clarify first, i always felt like the game was running too poorly on my system. I have a laptop with rtx 4050, 12th gen i5 with 12 cores, 32 gigs of ram, 1tb nvme ssd, but my pc for some reason was reaching temperatures of 90 degrees celsius during gameplay on medium settings. Also for some reason i felt like capping the fps to 60 didnt change the situation much, nor did changing the games graphic settings. The only thing that seemed to help was turning off the cpus turbo, and so i played the game with turbo off from now on.
So now let me tell you what happened. I mained the game for some time now. I got 100hrs of gameplay on steam and almost reached lvl 50 if i remember correctly. There were no problems playing the game at first if i remember correctly, but after some time i started having blue screen crashes on my pc. For some reason the crashes also happened mostly while playing Helldivers 2. If anyone wondering what type of bs crash was that it was the BSOD(DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (its linked to drivers and PERIPHERAL DEVICES), but i also read some post here that said the anti cheat can cause driver crashes itself. I tried a lot of tutorials to fix the blue screens but nothing seemed to work, nor did the pc show any hardware errors. The crashes just happened to keep returning from time to time. Also the crashes happened mostly while playing Helldivers 2, often after like 10-15 minutes of gameplay. If i remember correctly it happened only 2 times not during hd2 gameplay, once while i was playing some other game, and once while i was just browsing the web.
One time i was playing Helldivers 2 and i started an automaton mission on one of the icy planets. After like 10 minutes of gameplay, one of my teammates told me on the games vc to shoot at a detector tower with my autocannon bcs i he thought i could destroy it. But when i was getting ready to shoot suddenly my character started walking on its own. It walked only in the south-west direction (like holding A and S on the keyboard at the same time) but i could kinda steer it with my mouse. I didnt know what was happening but i just assumed it was my keyboard bugging out some way so i tried to click some other buttons but nothing worked. i tried to click Escape, alt tab the game, turn on the task manager, go back to the desktop, but nothing worked at all just like somebody plugged out my keyboard or something. So i started mashing my buttons harder but nothing still happened to work. After some time suddenly everything on my screen started flickering chaotically, random buttons were clicked on the games menu screen very quickly (at first i thougt it was just my keyboard getting unlagged and releasing all the sygnals i mashed into my buttons at once) but suddenly my game minimized, and i got back to desktop. Then the windows search bar went up and i saw SOME CHINESE LETTERS BEING TYPED (Could be also Korean or Japanese, but im fairly familiar with those alphabets and can i distinguish them accurately i think, but also i only saw it for a brief moment so i cant be sure). Seeing that i quickly clicked the windows button and turned off the pc on the start screen. I didnt know what to think about the situation there, i was unsure if it was just some bug, some pc lag, or i just got hacked, but just to be sure i updated windows defender and fully scanned my pc for viruses. Windows defender found nothing.
Some time had passed, lots of crashes happened, lots of hours i tried to fix my blue screen issue. Then this one evening exactly a week ago, I was sitting in a discord call with my friend, streaming Kenshi, when suddenly it happened again, but this time even worse. This "thing" opened the steam overlay, and then opened the overlays browser. There it started typing something but most of it came out as some random symbols or those wieird rectangles that appear when you are writing in an alphabet that is not supported in the app you are using. Then (probably seeing this) the thing went into desktop, and AGAIN started writing SOMETHING IN CHINESE into the windows search bar. I tried to wrestle with it and just like last time tried to shut the pc off using the windows start screen, but this time it CLICKED OFF IT. Then i quickly forced my laptop shut using the power button. After this i didnt wanna play no game no more. I booted my pc again, uninstalled helldivers 2, and searched for some answers. Then i remembered i probably need to be offline just in case :skull: so i plugged my ethernet cable off. If u wondering i had my wifi completely turned off in the device manager cause i thought it was causing the blue screens so i didnt need to do anything with it, and just like that i was offline. Then i researched, and found awful things posted about the games anti cheat "Nprotect GameGuard" being a kernel level rootkit malware, that can access your pc in many nasty, unwanted ways. I also found a very helpful and masterfully crafted guide on steamcommunity, how to remove the anti cheat (the devs said it is removed when you unintstall the game BUT it files and services in windows STILL EXIST HIDDEN in some hard to access places). I followed the guide and removed the files and services myself, without using any sketchy uninstalling software. I wanted to find this guide and link it for any of you, but i couldnt find it and im getting kinda very sleepy soo... ill try to get back to you with it later.
I also downloaded Avast, resetted windows internet and firewall settings, scanned the pc for viruses, resetted my browser etc, and guess what? The blue screens stopped, and yeah for now also i have not seen any more HACK attempts on my pc, but yeah it was only a week just like i said in the beginning. If anyone is concerned about my security im also checking my emails for any activity and if somebody is trying to log in anywhere, and there was no sus activity. The blue screens i had are linked to peripheral devices, so them happening could also be a accidental way my system was protecting me from the hack (just bugging out my peripheral devices when some remote chinese keyboard was logging into my pc), but also it just could be the anti cheat doing this.
If you have any questions, i can respond to them later, for now im gonna sleep cause tis very late here, and i have to wake up in the morning. If anybody of yaall gonna come at me with "ugh it was probably not that causing this and you cant check that, since you mostly crashed during gameplay of helldivers 2 and you dont have helldivers 2 installed no more", I can tell you that i MAINED that game so i played technically only Helldivers 2 for 99% of time. It also crashed once while i was playing OSRS i think just for a moment, and just as i told u earlier, when i was just browsing the web. I accidentally turned on some weird font thing while writing and dont know how to turn it off zamn. Well, i think im gonna be finishing here for now.
I just hope somebody sees this, and maybe even devs see this, and many many posts before me that criticized the games anti cheat system. For the most part it istnt even doing its job, there are still cheaters in the game XD, its just giving some chinese dudes access into our PCs. I want to get back into the game, i really do, but right now im too scared to even install it back. Kinda feel like im missing out on the fun, and i cant use a product i paid for, but whatever, my security is far more important. So yaall stay safe out there, share any of your weird stories and questionable things about the games security, and maybe try to make the problem louder. Maybe one thay we will see this miserable anticheat changed for something better, thus making the game playable again for people like me. See you.

I told her her I wasn't sure but FH and daughter had been putting gifts away all week and they probably planned breakfast or dinner, maybe a walk or a visit to the park. She responded "aaahhhhh. I'm going to bring my mother flowers" (my grandmother, her mother, died in 2021 and she never even brought her flowers when she was alive. Now that she's gone she has immense guilt which turns into attention seeking, my least favorite quality in her, and it exhausts me) so I responded that's nice of you. She said she's done it the last few years, I said yea I remember you saying that. End of conversation.
I don't spend mother's day with her because she expects the whole day to be about her, gifts, meals, all the things. And I used to spoil her, when I was able, especially after my dad left. My family is very low income, I've only been a mom for 3 years, I'm now 6 months pregnant, and we honestly don't have a good relationship and haven't for almost a decade now. When I was 22, my fiance went deaf, I got fired and my car was totaled within a couple months. I had to go to her house to get the title of my car and I broke down in tears, for obvious reasons, and told her I missed our relationship. She had started dating this awful man who hated me and basically told her she needed to chose him or me at one point because I made it very clear I didn't like him. She chose him. So while I was crying she looked me dead in my face and said "you're 22 years old, you don't need your mother anymore." This was 8 years ago, and I've never forgotten that day. I immediately distanced myself from her and she started to try and come back around when I got pregnant 5 years later and she eventually broke it off with that horrible guy. Who stole $5,000 from her and cheated on her numerous times.
So today, she texts me first to say happy mother's day, enjoy your day, love you, whatever. I respond with basically the same message.
Then I see her Snapchat stories of "starting my mother's day off like this" with a card (probably from my sister who has not woken up to her insane toxic behavior) and a smoothie. Next story is "breakfast made by my LOVING daughter" now this may seem innocent, but she's been this way for years now. It's always "my loving daughter" "spoiled by my loving daughter" and to me it's 100% intentional and I'm just so sick of it. It's also not something you really post on Snapchat stories. But she knows I don't have Facebook and blocked her on Instagram because, again, attention seeking behavior just agitated me and it's all pictures of her with her cleavage trying to get male attention and posts about "I know I'm the best and deserve the best" just weird stuff that you would normally see a teenage girl post on myspace in 2004.
Now my fiance texted her last night to see if we could maybe have a small baby sprinkle for me because I had my daughter at the height of covid so I never got to have one, they went back and forth about it. Then this morning he texted her happy mother's day and she responded with "I thought she said she didn't want a baby shower" which we never even discussed one time. And now I think she had a conversation with someone, probably my sister, and they just are being super negative about it.
I think I'm going to have him just tell her to forget it. I'm so sick of all of it, I'm so sick of her, I'm so sick of being treated differently because I have my own family and don't use all my time to revolve around my grown ass woman of a mother. Just because I moved out and finally woke up to how draining and narcissistic she is. It's just so exhausting at this point.
Sorry that's long. It's really just a vent. It just makes me want to cry and I wanted to get it off my chest so I can enjoy the rest of my mother's day without thinking about it anymore.
