Started at 210, have lost 20 pounds after 4 month without any exercise at all. I am a couch potato. My dose is 45 units twice weekly. My husband has lost more than me, also without exercise but also without significant dietary changes, and his dose is 25 unis twice weekly. We are both with Henry meds.
My diet has naturally changed because this medicine suppresses appetite. I have been eating a lot of salads from Trader Joe’s, bananas, oranges, and about one full meal of whatever my husband makes (usually meat, starch, veggie and maybe bread). I drink a lot of coffee with cream. This major change in diet happened naturally.
My joints are barely painful now, I feel twinges here or there, and I no longer have to crawl up the stairs. My hands are rarely achy even though I have a computer job. I have way more energy. I stopped taking my bp med and antidepressant. I am post-menopausal, but a faint period returned for a few days — supposedly fat holds onto a lot of estrogen, and losing fat also releases this hormone. No drug side wffects anymore — no heartburn, nausea or fatigue. My skin tags haven’t disappeared but are continuing to shrink. My nails are hard as rocks, and I’m losing less hair than I used to.
I used to say that Prozac needs to be put in the water so that everyone has access (jokingly, of course). Now I feel that way about tirzepatide — it is a miracle drug.

I’m currently in college but have opted to spend my last semester at home (I live across the country from my school so I’m taking all online courses). I had a job from when I was 17-20 but had to quit for school, it was just at a grocery store nothing incredibly special. But now that I’m back they’re not hiring nor is the other store from the same company near my house. I have gotten no word back from the store down the street and have gotten rejected from Trader Joe’s 4 times. No word from in n our either and looking online just has yielded no results (well for anything I’m qualified for, want to/can do, or are close by). It’s also a challenge because I can only get around on bike or possibly by bus. I can’t drive and still don’t want to learn so all my job options have to be close. I’m mostly looking for customer service or retail, even a mall job if they’re hiring. Are there any tips you guys have to search because I don’t even know where to start and I’m desperate now, my mom has been bugging me practically every day about how I don’t have a job yet and I don’t have the drive or moxy to do anything which is so unfair because I AM looking and I AM applying and going in the store to ask myself!

This is unfortunately the opposite of a success story but want to post it here for anyone in the future who might experience something similar as I was so scared and searching the internet for months on what to do. As a warning- I do not have my gallbladder. I don’t see much about this and wish I would have bc I think it’s a big factor of why I had issues. Everyone is different - maybe it wasn’t but sharing anyway. (F/31)
I took sema for 2 months no problem. No rapid weight loss but at normal rate. (I can’t remember my exact dose) but I went up as suggested by my dr in January. I felt horrible the next day. Nauseated, was walking on the treadmill and had to lay down. Next thing I knew my heart was beating so loud I thought I was going to pass out…went to the bathroom and had bright orange watery stools for hours. I was so sick, I thought it was food poisoning from Trader Joe’s frozen food. I threw up once. Still felt ill the next few days.
Then it happened again. Rapid heartbeat in my chest, I was sweating, seeing black spots, going to the bathroom and the worst stomach cramping of my life I was SCREAMING in pain. My husband took me to the ER and they gave me pain meds. There was high levels of troponin so they kept me overnight (which is bizarre bc I do not have heart issues).
They sent me home and said it was all likely due from sema and that they’ve been seeing a lot of people come in with issues due to it. I proceed to have small amounts of food over time but nothing is going down well. I had burning sensations in my upper abdomen, I felt it radiate into my chest at night. I was surviving off of bone broth as to not upset my stomach.
I went weeks feeling anxious and ill so went to the ER again where they did a CT scan and other tests diagnosing me with gastritis and putting me on PPis. I was thankful because these really did seem to help. Potentially all due to slow gastric emptying from the higher dose?
Anyway, taking the PPIs for a month gave me SIBO. So after two months of trying to figure out why I’m still in so much pain, I have my diagnosis. And here I am, up late after taking my first dose of meds still with so much bloating and gastro pain cursing the day I took these shots.
So, if you’re reading this and experiencing pain from sema- know that you’re not alone. And if you’re someone with previous stomach issues or no gallbladder, bring that up to your dr. The delayed gastric emptying is no joke.
If anyone else has experienced this and has felt relief, PLEASE share your story!! This has been 6 months of hell for me.

I’ve been doing more meal planning lately, and I wanted to make a soup/salads incorporating watercress.
So far I’ve been to Vons, Sprouts, and Trader Joe’s. While Vons advertised that they had it, I wasn’t able to find it in store.
If anyone knows a grocery store or market that has watercress, I’d love to know!
