Acord homeowners

Long story short, my water heater was leaking because it was old and I called a “professional” plumber to change it. After 5 minutes working on it, he broke one of the main water pipes flooding my apartment and 18 more below me. He admitted full responsibility and told me that his insurance was going to cover the repairs. It’s been a week since he told me he made the claim, but he hasn’t sent me a copy of the claim he supposedly made or set up a meeting with the adjuster from his insurance company.
The people who dried the apartments after the damage was the insurance from the building. Also, tomorrow the adjuster from the building is coming to my house to check the damages and probably get an estimate.
My main concern is that I haven’t heard anything back from the plumber because he is not answering my calls and I honestly have 0 idea if I’m handling the process correctly by letting the insurance from the building take care of everything.
Yesterday, I called my homeowners insurance to make a claim because I was insecure, and I was told by them that if a claim was already made by the plumber or by the building then I shouldn’t make another one because there would be 2 insurers working in the same case, so they told me to wait and let the others insurers work (which didn’t make sense to me).
In conclusion, I need guidance. Please let me know if I should call my homeowners insurance , and what should I do about the building and the missing plumber.
Finally, as a quick note. I have the copy of the plumbers insurance, but they are not answering either. The company is called Acord.
