Top 10 Movies to Watch When Working From Home
Working from home has become the de facto standard for companies these days which means things might get monotonous for you folks at times. In case you have a spot of time on your hands while taking a break, here are the top 5 movies to watch while working from home:

Top 10 Movies to Watch When Working From Home

1. Trading Places (1983)

I gleaned the plot of this entire movie with just a single easter egg from the movie "Coming to America" starring Eddie Murphy. I'm not saying the plot of Trading Places is that simplistic, but the movie was that popular and well-executed.
https://preview.redd.it/tb1o1qu4ex3d1.png?width=417&format=png&auto=webp&s=29362d29a4c7987f88bf113a8b4ff3fd5fb9398f
This movie revolves around two wealthy commodities brokers who run a social experiment on two people from different strata of society to settle the nature and nurture debate. Unbeknownst to them the two subjects of the experiments have plans of their own to turn the tide in their favor.
Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche play the role of the Duke brothers, the steel-hearted multi-millionaires who think it fun to play around with the lives of Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy as Lois Winthorpe and Billy Ray Valentine.
There is a lot of buddy comedy material, a cliche yet, well-done storyline, and an expected redemptive story arc.

2. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

In case you ever feel like taking a personal day off work, this is the perfect movie to watch. The plot here revolves around a slacker who fakes being sick to go on a joy ride through the city.
https://preview.redd.it/hw5bpateex3d1.png?width=893&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9a408b9e096c5c5a2504387904bb6cd13612663
Mathew Broderick plays the role of Ferris Bueller who convinces his best friend and girlfriend to play hooky while going on an elaborate adventure. There's juvenile behavior, childish pranks, great music, and one awesome Star Wars reference.
https://preview.redd.it/wa67x8tgex3d1.png?width=875&format=png&auto=webp&s=02d6cb7fa9b2d002a4fe03b24dbbe918d94b1248
There have always been theories of Ferris being the split personality persona of his best friend Cameron played by Alan Ruck. Another theory speculates that it is actually Cameron's fever dream, imagining the whole day while being sick at home.
This movie is part of pop culture and is hinted at in the Deadpool movie end credits as well.

3. Tommy Boy (1995)

One of the better movies by David Spade, Tommy Boy is a buddy comedy with a Laurel and Hardy dynamic, graced by the comedic stylings of Chris Farley.
https://preview.redd.it/rgowtn1jex3d1.png?width=428&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0e2180804bb6834b772961c54aa154ec4ea09e1
Chris Farley plays Tommy Callahan III an easygoing goofball who rides on his industrialist father's (Big Tom) coat-tails until he dies unexpectedly thrusting the son into an unwelcome position of responsibility.
Meanwhile, Tommy gets a stepbrother in the form of Richard played by David Spade. As fate would have it, Tommy and Richard need to join forces to save Big Tom's manufacturing plant by getting a big sale order.
Find out Why Two and a Half Men is a Tragic Series with a Laugh Track
Tommy recognizes Richard's finely tuned people skills and puts them to work in procuring a massive sales order to save his father's manufacturing plant and legacy. The movie is a fun-filled road trip that sees the step-brothers forming an unbreakable bond while battling a common problem.

4. Office Space (1999)

The dry humor in this movie is as applicable today as it was when it was released. The employees are frustrated, the boss is a gigantic douche, and growth prospects are non-existent.
https://preview.redd.it/26qglralex3d1.png?width=482&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee95f6b0d79671c53a17868eebf782bb3c3bd4c1
This is not a movie that goes with the laugh track approach wherein the comedy is obvious like in Horrible Bosses. Dark humor is employed in this movie. If you are feeling frustrated at work, then this movie might be highly cathartic for you.
All employees are seething with contempt for their jobs, workplaces, and everything related to those aspects. It is incredibly funny and reminds you of Dilbert comic strips.
Violence against people is not funny. Violence against malfunctioning technology however can be very entertaining as seen below. One of the central themes of the movie is the faulty printer that jams and swallows essential documents at crucial times.
You might like The Marvels: An Unexpectedly Fun Ride
This is what inspires the trio of employees in this movie to vent their pent-up anger against an inanimate object as if it messed up on purpose. You can see how this plays out in the images given below where they take the evil printer to an isolated location and take turns eviscerating it.
https://preview.redd.it/rr5pm81oex3d1.png?width=912&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb638220bd4f442bb923c8ae9339f659914d2399
This movie has been a cult classic for quite some time with references to it in pop culture. Anyone who has watched The Mandalorian will know the reference to TPS reports by Bill Burr in one of the episodes.

5. Being John Malkovich (1999)

One of the most John Malkovich of all Malkovich movies is undoubtedly Being John Malkovich. This movie has the titular actor playing a fictionalized version of himself although the more you watch the more you feel this is him in real life.
John Cusack plays a failing puppeteer who finds a physical door that leads into the mind of the actor John Malkovich after which you can experience life in the actor's body.
https://preview.redd.it/8tvwmlmqex3d1.png?width=405&format=png&auto=webp&s=1464632c74c8f4c8fca563070c149dfc2ef90730
You BECOME John Malkovich.
Catherine Keener plays Cusack's love interest Maxine and Cameron Diaz plays the third locus in this love triangle. There is also a cameo by Charlie Sheen which is interesting.
You might like Examples of Mindfulness and Emotional Awareness in Movies
The sheer absurdity of the movie makes it funny at the beginning, but as the film progresses relationships get knotted with each other, taking a really dark turn. This is a movie that needs to be experienced without a plot summary giving things up.
However, Catherine Keener takes on movies relating to mind control such as in Jordan Peele's Get Out and Brad Bird's Incredibles 2. For some reason, this sends a chill down my spine - does she know something we all don't?

6. School of Rock (2003)

One of my all-time favorite movies is this Jack Black vehicle that feels like his personality made into a movie. Jack Black plays Dewey Finn, a wannabe rockstar who is down on his luck and living with a dweebish roommate Ned Schneebly played by Mike White.
https://preview.redd.it/9yenrzysex3d1.png?width=425&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4beb1ebff0361fd551da33bbd9fe08b6b016088
When Finn gets kicked out of his band, he stumbles upon an opportunity to impersonate his roommate as a substitute teacher at a private school for substantial money. As he goes about pretending to be a teacher he finds that the kids in his class have exceptional musical abilities that he immediately plans on exploiting for money.
However, while chasing money, Finn forms a genuine bond with his students, helps them overcome their challenges, and finds his purpose in life.

This movie has great music, an amazing comedic cast, and original songs, and one of the few to have inspired a successful musical and a not-so-successful series.

7. Yes Man (2008)

A down-on-his-luck man sinking into a self-destructive spiral of despair and negativity comes across a self-help program that changes his life. Jim Carrey's overacting is put to good use in this movie where Carrey learns to say YES to everything in his life - to hilarious effect.
The images given below show the moments when Carrey is introduced to the concept of saying yes, when he meets the semi-cult self-help leader, and when he is taking action as a Yes Man. ( Saying yes to all that life has to offer)
https://preview.redd.it/vlg7qqivex3d1.png?width=907&format=png&auto=webp&s=52d4273efa6611eaca5ba7d55cbfdef0bc9286b0
What will you learn from this movie:
  • All skills you pick up from random workshops will be directly useful in everyday situations ( Re: Slumdog Millionaire)
  • Take things literally at first when attending a self-help workshop

8. Up in the Air (2009)

George Clooney at his dramatic best is something you wouldn't wanna miss. As an instance of the old ushering in the young at a corporate workplace, this is insightful and entertaining at the same time.
Clooney serves as a contrast against the vulnerability of a corporate drone while being considerate to the people he fires - for a living. The tables are turned however when a young ivy-leaguer decides that the company needs a makeover.
Also, read Netflix Movie Review: Don't Look Up
The whole movie is about Clooney training his replacement and getting a dose of his bitter medicine in the process.

The cinematography is great in this movie, with beautiful aerial shots and stills portraying silence and contemplation. They explore loneliness and self-discovery in Up in the Air.
This is a quiet movie with a slow pace and great acting. You get to see many metaphors play out throughout the movie.

9. Horrible Bosses (2011)

Taking the a**hole boss stereotype to the max, Horrible Bosses is a laugh riot with a lot of physical comedy and dirty jokes aplenty. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day play Nick, Kurt, and Dale, the hapless employees with a monstrous boss.
Explore Into the Spiderverse: Every Spider-Man Movie Franchise
The comedy in this movie is due to the great chemistry shared by the three actors shown below. They always end up quarreling and at each other's throats, but make it through dire straits through sheer dumb luck.

Anyone looking for a whole load of laughs will find this movie delightful, with Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, and Julie Bowen adding to the comedy.

10. The Intern (2015)

Nancy Meyers always makes pleasant movies, leaving you feeling all warm and fuzzy by the end. This movie is no exception with Robert De Niro playing a man (Ben) who thinks that "he still has music left in him," and Anne Hathaway playing the role of a young CEO (Jules) running a growing e-commerce start-up.

The movie brings both the actors together by having DeNiro volunteer as a Senior (Citizen) Intern at Hathaway's company. De Niro and Hathaway form an unlikely bond that enriches their lives and watching this happen onscreen is a genuine joy.

You also get memorable performances from comedy regulars such as Adam Devine, and Zack Pearlman, and a great cameo by Rene Russo. One of the cutest actors in this movie is JoJo Kushner playing the adorable child of the CEO and she does an amazing job, adding to how warm and fuzzy the movie makes you feel.

Is it OK to watch TV while working from home?

Now, this is an interesting question. The purpose of this post is not to make you drop all you're doing and start streaming content.
In case you are on a break from work (Lunch/Tea) or experiencing unexpected downtime, then it's good to have a backup playlist of movies. You can stream a show or watch part of a movie when you are taking a break from work tasks.
Check out El Conde: A Quirky and Fun Chilean Film on Netflix

What should I binge-watch while working from home?

If you are working from home, then I would advise you not to binge anything during work hours and even during your off-time. Binging content means spending more than an hour of your time watching consecutive episodes of a show or two complete movies back to back.
Binge-watching is best done over the weekend when there's no other good alternative such as hanging out with your friends.

2024.06.01 08:26 forex4all The Mysteries of Coinblox Revealed.first: An Investigation of Its Cryptographic Presence

An fascinating and enigmatic site has developed in the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology: Coinblox.top. Crypto aficionados and curious persons alike have been captivated by this website's enigmatic moniker and secretive online presence. In this detailed essay, we will explore Coinblox in detail, trying to understand it better by looking at its features, possible consequences, and user experience.

Why Unclear Is So Enchanting

It is clear that Coinblox is not your average cryptocurrency platform the second one sets foot on the homepage. The uncluttered layout and vague branding of the website instantly piqued my interest and made me wonder what was to come. There is an air of mystery behind Coinblox since there is no typical navigation menu, no thorough explanations, and not even an indication of the platform's intended use.
Curious visitors are confronted with a maze of mysterious pages and material as they try to navigate the site. The scant writing, which is sometimes in vague or incomplete words, seems to be an effort to avoid direct explanation. By including unorthodox symbols, codes, and images, the level of ambiguity is amplified, leaving visitors with more questions than answers.

The Mysterious Perception of the User

Challenging as it may be, navigating Coinblox is like setting out on an uncharted expedition. The user interface is designed to be purposely vague, making it difficult for visitors to understand the logic behind every click and interaction.
When you click on random links, you'll be sent to pages with mysterious graphics, cryptic messaging, and mysterious requests. Even more perplexing is the fact that visitors are left to their own devices to decipher the site's arcane information in the lack of any directions or explanations.
The navigation structure of Coinblox seems to be non-linear and irregular, which is rather intriguing. Instead of using rigid navigation structures and predetermined page orders, websites are going for a more organic and random user experience. By taking this route, the sense of mystery is intensified; users are utterly confused about where they are going and what their activities will accomplish in this digital maze.

The Crypto Community Engaged in Speculation

There is a devoted group of crypto aficionados that love the intrigue and mystery that surrounds Coinblox, despite the fact that it is vague and has no apparent goal. Popularly known as "Coinblox seekers," these users are always contributing to the community's understanding of Coinblox by posing questions, offering explanations, and working together to find the solution.
People looking for Coinblox gather on online forums and message boards to talk shop, share what they've found, and speculate about the site's real nature. A feeling of community and common goal has developed among Coinblox members as they work together to decipher the site's cryptic information.
To further emphasize the feeling of exclusivity and belonging, the Coinblox group has even created its own language and inside jokes. A distinct subculture has emerged among those who have experienced the site's mysteries together; in this group, the thrill of conjecture and the quest for knowledge take center stage above more typical forms of online communication.

Hypotheses and Possible Consequences

The more time passes without a clear answer to Coinblox, the more people will speculate and theorize about what it may mean. The site might be an advanced experiment in blockchain and encryption, testing the limits of safe data storage and communication, according to others. The platform's opacity may demonstrate the efficacy of encryption and the promise of decentralized networks.
Some think Coinblox is a decentralized finance (DeFi) system or a hidden cryptocurrency's portal. Users may find a new digital asset or a revolutionary financial software by following the site's mysterious instructions, which might be part of a complex treasure hunt.
A number of ideas have proposed connections between Coinblox and other crypto-themed puzzles or broader alternative reality games (ARGs). Devoted players may be able to decipher a greater narrative included within the site's enigmatic messages and symbols.
Whatever its actual goal may be, Coinblox has certainly piqued the interest of the cryptocurrency community, leading to conversations over the limits of the internet and blockchain's possibilities. Concerns over the function of secrecy in the cryptocurrency industry and the future of digital interaction are prompted by the site's capacity to attract and hold users' attention in the absence of clear content or objective.
If you have lost money to companies like SMT Capital, or CVM-Crypto; please report it to us on our Report a Scam form.

Concerning the Dangers and Questions

Although Coinblox's enigmatic nature is appealing, users should proceed with care and skepticism when interacting with the platform. There are legitimate worries regarding the hazards since there is a lack of clarity and openness regarding the site's ownership, purpose, and security measures.
Phishing attempts, ransomware, and other frauds are only some of the risks that customers run when they interact with untrusted platforms in the cryptocurrency industry. People risk losing control of their data or digital assets if they don't do their research and know what the platform is trying to accomplish.
Also, bad actors looking to take advantage of the interest in and speculation about sites like Coinblox could be drawn to the crypto ecosystem because to its anonymity features and the lack of governmental control. Before interacting with any enigmatic or cryptic crypto site, users must proceed with utmost care and perform comprehensive study.
In the broad crypto realm, Coinblox distinguishes out as an unusual and confusing organization. An air of intrigue and perplexity has been cast over it by virtue of its obscure character, mysterious user interface, and devoted community of seekers.
As we delve more into Coinblox, we are struck by the boundless potential and unexplored landscape of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. By just existing, the site forces us to reevaluate our assumptions about the nature and operation of crypto platforms, prompting us to think critically about the limits of our digital lives and the place of mystery in a world where everything is becoming more apparent.
To this day, we still don't know what Coinblox is trying to do or what it means, but we do know that it has aroused more interest and intrigue than any other cryptocurrency platform. We can only wait for the mysteries and disclosures to come as the Coinblox community keeps expanding and the speculation heats up.
But you should be very wary and skeptical about Coinblox and similar obscure services. Users put themselves at danger when they interact with unknown entities in the crypto world, which is full with hazards and uncertainties. Before diving headfirst into the strange world of Coinblox or any other crypto site, make sure security is your first priority, do your homework, and consult reliable sources for advice.
In a world where openness and responsibility are highly prized, Coinblox.top stands as a testament to the timeless appeal of secrecy and the thrill of the unexpected. Whether it's a mysterious riddle, an innovative experiment, or something else completely, Coinblox has unmistakably made its imprint on the cryptocurrency scene, encouraging us to welcome the mysterious and the unexplained with an attitude of utmost care and thoroughness.

2024.05.31 23:21 ben-tobox-san Our Guardian Angel

Obligatory long time lurker, first time poster. Please provide feedback for my writing, how I might improve.
Xelyana waited in line anxiously. Orion Station had been her home for 3 months, by the human’s standards, and she wanted to begin her next assignment.
And what an assignment it was! Her very first human vessel, straight from the staryards of Hestia, the renamed planet of humanity’s origin.
“The Sacajawea” was a fine ship, named after a woman who was instrumental to the safe travels of some of human history’s most famous explorers. “Without her, the bumbling fools would have died shortly into their journey,” her professor had said. Having a woman and her newborn as part of their group had certainly sold their peaceful intentions to the tribes they encountered.
And like her namesake, The Sacajawea would be instrumental to the further development of galactic civilization! Outfitted with the most advanced translation AI, six redundant sensor arrays, and a command center with a faraday cage built into the walls themselves, this was a vessel built to explore the uncharted regions between stars and planets, finding the safest routes for travel and trade. To make first contact with who knows what sort of creatures lived in the dark!
Xelyana had been approved for this mission due to her dual degrees in xenobiology and xenoanthropology, and by this point, almost everyone had met a human before. But humans were, as repeatedly expressed, not a monolithic species, and atop that, prone to wanderlust. Hence, she had met many humans on the station, in her classes, and especially in the old bars by the docking bays.
What a fascinating species she found in humanity. On average, 66% larger in stature than her fellow Celenians, and nearly 150% more mass, owed in large part to the gravity of their homeworld. A history overwhelmingly dominated by nearly 97% warfare since they first began recording their history, and yet she had never encountered individuals so kind, gentle, and warm (both metaphorically and literally! They averaged 37 degrees!).
They were not monolithic, of course, the human race being as varied as the galaxy itself, so there were some unpleasant individuals she had had to contend with, but more often than not, she found a friend in humans.
Virgil had jokingly called it their “capybara effect.”
“Strangest little animal, that one. You can always find them, friendlier than anything, with anything.”
Of course, she had seen that in how many animals they had domesticated over the millennia, using selective breeding to produce subservient beasts. She hardly considered using wolves as hunting tools or sentinels as “friendly” relations with humans, symbiosis at best, but the fact was that humans and wolves still ate one another.
She was drawn from her drifting thoughts when she noticed something strange about the crew. Each and every one was stepping into the hatch, then reaching up and patting something.
It didn’t take her long to reach the hatch herself, and she looked up and saw a most peculiar symbol, one she did not recognize from her linguistic studies of humans. As she moved forward, she saw Virgil reach up and gently touch the symbol, with a smile on his face. A religious symbol perhaps? One she had missed?
Hours later, she sat across from Virgil in the mess hall, shuffling aside her excitement for the human delicacy known as “tiramisu.” She simply must have an answer.
“Virgil, may I ask you something?”
“Mhm.”
A usual response from him. It had taken her some time to realize that it was both an expression of disinterest and an assent to continue. He was obviously more focused on scooping his “iced cream” in between two… were they called biscuits, or cookies? A question for later.
“That symbol that you humans touched, just beyond the threshold of the ship’s hatch, could you tell me what it meant?”
“Hm? Ah, you must be talking about Little Laika, humanity’s guardian angel.”
“Oh! So it is religious iconography? I did not recognize it.”
“Eh, it’s not truly religious, just… traditional?”
“But you called it an ‘angel.’ Is that not a religious icon?”
“Angels are, yes, but… well, it’s better I explain the whole story to you.”
“Please do.”
“So, in the mid twentieth century, on Hestia, then called ‘Earth,’ humanity was taking its first steps towards true extra-terrestrial flight. While we had achieved air-flight decades prior, we were still bound by our planet’s gravity, and still within atmo. It wasn’t even certain at the time if a living being could even survive leaving the atmosphere. No one had yet tested anything they built. So, one of the old nations, the Soviet Union, their space program scientists plucked a dog off of the street. Just this tiny little stray mutt. They named her Laika. It meant ‘Little Barking One.’”
“So, your religious iconography is of a ‘mutt?’”
“I’m getting there. So, they picked up this dog from the streets of Moscow. She was already a few years old, so they figured she was used to being cold and hungry. She was something between 5 or 6 kilos, and was pretty even tempered. She barked, of course, and before she had an official name, they called her things like ‘Little Curly,’ ‘Little Bug,’ or ‘Little Lemon.’”
Virgil’s smile fell a little, and his eyes looked sad.
“One of the scientists, Vladimir Yazdovsky, took her to his home before her flight. He wanted her to experience the love of children, and a family at least once. He said ‘I wanted to do something nice for her: she had so little time left…’”
Xelyana looked stunned at her friend. This giant of a man, near 2 meters tall and at least half as wide, with his dark prickly hairs on his face and head, had tears silently flowing down his cheeks. She knew that humans considered the canids a companion species, but this emotional response for a dog that had died centuries ago… it did give her a reason to reconsider just how close dogs and humanity were.
He cleared his throat and continued.
“They spent months training her to live as close to normal as possible in such a confined space as the capsule they were testing. No room to move, just stand, sit, or lay down. They hooked up monitoring equipment, made sure she wouldn’t be laying in her own waste, and prepared seven days worth of food for her. One of the other scientists, Anatoly Zak, he said… ‘After placing Laika in the container and before closing the hatch, we kissed her nose and wished her bon voyage, knowing that she would not survive the flight.’”
He took a moment to draw in a few deep breaths.
“She orbited the planet four times, before she died of overheating. The capsule didn’t separate properly, causing thermal controls to malfunction. Thermal Insulation tore. Cabin temperature rose to about 40 degrees. Life signs stopped transmitting between 0500 and 0700.”
He shook his head, looking down.
“It took five months, and over 2500 orbits, before her capsule orbit degraded enough to re-enter atmo. It wasn’t equipped with any way to de-orbit safely. Burnt away on re-entry.”
Virgil looked devastated for this little thing. The fact that he had memorized so many details…
“As for why we call her our guardian angel, there was this old belief that the first soul to be laid to rest somewhere would remain there, to guide other souls laid there to the afterlife. Of course, people weren’t keen on their immortal souls being separated from their families and friends simply because they were buried first, so the graveyards and cemeteries were inaugurated by burying a dog. It was believed that the dog would serve as guard and companion to people, in death just as they would in life.”
He looked fondly out of the porthole.
“Laika was the first creature from our planet to die out here. Beyond our home. And she never touched home again. So, a lot of us like to think that she watches out for us. And if worse comes to worse, she’ll be there for us. Like we should’ve been for her. She’s our little guardian angel.”
He smiled sadly at Xelyana.
“Hestian staryards always make sure to engrave her image at the threshold of each ship. So we always remember the sacrifices that got us where we are.”
Xelyana ate her treat with less zeal than she ever had before. To immortalize such a small creature, who had no idea what her purpose was…
Years later, after decades of exploration, and dozens of ships, she always reached out and touched her guardian angel.

2024.05.31 20:54 dankatheist420 Corn, yeast, and saliva... Introducing "Spit Take", my homemade kuchikamizake beer

Please finish your sip of coffee, because this is not a joke. I want to be taken seriously. I made a delectable "beer" from corn, yeast, and saliva!
Spit Take™™™ might be more accurately called kuchikamizake or chicha de muko instead of "beer". I really only used TWO ingredients: brewers yeast and cooked cornmeal that I had my friends chew up and spit out into a big bowl. (Chewing and spitting the corn was by FAR the grossest part of the whole thing.) The amylase enzymes in human saliva were used to break down the starches and complex carbs in the cornmeal, and then the yeast converts these simple sugars into alcohol. It's one of the historically earlier ways of making booze!
Since I'm no wuss, and because I didn't want to half-ass this, I did NOT pasteurize or chemically sterilize the brew at any point. I used an aquarium heater, a water bath, and a thermophilic strain of yeast called 'kveik' to speed up the enzymatic reactions: I fermented it hot at around 96F. (The salivary enzymes work fastest at around human body temp, for obvious reasons.) Since kveik is so agro when warm, I figured it would snap up any fermentables as soon as they were produced.
After this parallel fermentation, I strained out the corn solids and force carbonated it, I believe. I included bit of the cloudy takju/nigori in some of the bottles and left others clear (my preference). For a FEW bottles, I added a bit of artificial corn flavoring, hoping to boost the corniness, which didn't really pan out.
As for taste... it's surprisingly good. It tastes like a light apple cider with a hint of sake fruitiness and the slightest funk. It's very bright and refreshing, and I was honestly disappointed it didn't taste nastier. I was originally hoping that I'd get something REALLY strong and funky. Unfortunately, Spit Take just ended up being earnestly delightful... ah well!
I've successfully experimented making choujiu several times at home, and so this wasn't a huge leap. Instead of using Aspergillus based amylase, I used human spit.

2024.05.31 17:47 AdminEating_Dragon Catching your (red and) white whale: Olympiacos FC road to European glory!

The 29th of May 2024 in OPAP Arena (colloquially Hagia Sophia Stadium), the 2023-24 Olympiacos squad entered the club's history by winning the Conference League and becoming the first Greek club to add a European trophy in its collection at senior level (after doing the same at Youth Level a few weeks ago)!
Brief history lesson for the class:
Olympiacos is historically the emperor of Greek football. 47 league titles vs 41 for every other team combined speaks for itself. But European glory has always been the club's white whale, the goal that was never scored, the one thing missing from the club's myth. There are many reasons for this oddity:
Europe was the only lifeline of Olympiacos' enemies in years of red and white domestic rule: they had memorable moments from Europe that Olympiacos didn't. They also used it as an argument that Olympiacos' local dominance is based on corruption and in Europe, where there is real refereeing etc., the true strength of the club shows.
Zooming in the last years:
Marinakis bought the club in 2010 and immediately achieved domestic domination. He brought back Ernesto Valverde, whose football philosophy affects Olympiacos until today, and the club stated regulary getting 9 and 10 points in CL until 2016. A combination of reasons led to a decline of quality and 2 lost titles until Pedro Martins put the team back in a order.
Εuropean success kept eluding though: despite some great wins, there was always a circumstance putting an end to the European journey - luck, Marinakis firing the coach for ego reasons (Jardim, Bento), GK blunders, covid changing the season, or simply a weaker team at the given moment.
In 2022-23 Olympiacos had a horrible season and Marinakis changed everything in the summer: you can read in details my post from August here.
Since then:
Did you read it? Good. Now throw all the planning and philosophy which was in theory put in place in August out of the window.
It didn't work. Diego Martinez improved the team and quality was added in several positions in attack and the wings, but the defense was vulnerable, the midfield was understaffed, and it went down the drain in November: the defensive performances against Greek minnows at home (despite wins) and the draw against Backa Topola (!) was the warning bell, and the hammer fell against PAOK at home (2-4) and Freiburg away (5-0). These results are not acceptable for Olympiacos under any circumstance, especially heavy defeats from other Greek clubs, and in early December, Martinez was fired with Olympiacos finishing 3rd in an EL Group with Freiburg, West Ham and Backa Topola with 7 points but having only 1 point in 3 Greek derbies.
But it gets worse: Marinakis hired Portuguese journeyman Carlos Carvalhal. He "fixed" the defense by positioning the players to sit back which led to not scoring against Lamia, Atromitos and Panathinaikos (twice), the players disliked him (Podence was visibly not even putting an effort) and the season looked lost, with PAOK having a 9 points lead in early February, the team out of the Cup to Panathinaikos and unable to win any Greek derby, much less think of Europe where Ferencvaros was waiting. Carvalhal was fired 1 week before the 1st leg match against Ferencvaros.
Marinakis is impulsive, arrogant and confrontational, and these traits led to the demise of the red and white stranglehold on domestic titles. But he is also very stubborn and really, really hates losing.
Changing 80% of the team didn't work? Let's do it again then in January!
Out go:
https://preview.redd.it/t7iqi675yk3d1.png?width=1392&format=png&auto=webp&s=89367a037749a8dae6197aa89546c43a4b684c0e
In go:

And this time...jack-pot!
These transfers transformed Olympiacos for the best. Carmo is a 10 times better CB than Freire and Porozo combined. Chiquinho and Horta are quality, modern midfielders which complement the wonderful Hezze who was fighting alone for months next to unprofessional Mady Camara, and give a role to veteran Iborra in a midfield of 3. Martins gave much needed depth in the wings that Solbakken and Biel had failed to do. Abbey gave depth to the CB position. Navarro was a flop but you can't have it all.
The key to turning a wasted season to a glorious one, the missing piece of the puzzle, was the 3rd coach of the year: Jose Luis Mendilibar.
The fans were furious with Marinakis, his entourage, and the players, and there was no enthusiasm when Mendilibar arrived: his EL trophy was treated as a fluke, like Di Matteo's CL because "Sevilla can win EL without a coach". His work at Eibar was disregarded as "it's a small club, what does he know about having to win every week". His debut was to be against Ferencvaros....
Here. We. Go!
1st minute of the match, Olympiacos defense is sleeping as usually and the Hungarians score. The new coach is destined to fail already, just like that. But VAR to the rescue: hairline offside! The match is balanced, but Olympiacos with the new coach aura and the January transfers starting to glue with the team find a goal with leading scorer El Kaabi (who had missed January because of AFCON) and the morale shifts.
7 days later, Mendilibar is hailed as the second coming of Ernesto Valverde: Olympiacos have won their 1st derby of the season by demolishing league leader PAOK away (1-4) and played their best European match so far in Budapest, doubling the 1-0 wins against Ferencvaros. The draw is kind to Olympiacos: the next opponent is Maccabi Tel Aviv, everyone's 2nd preference after Viktoria Plzen.
Mendilibar has already flipped the team morale, won the players, had luck in his 1st match and his 1st draw, and the next week he gets 3 more league wins while rotating the squad. The 9 points gap from the top of the league is down to 3, the fans who were asking for everyone's head are delirious, and the expectations for breaking the curse against Israeli teams (3/3 eliminations) are sky-high.
The back-to-earth reminder is brutal. Olympiacos' shaky defense, especially when not protected by a 3rd midfielder, is torn apart by Eran Zahavi, Maccabi scores 4 goals in 5 shots and leaves Pireaus with a shocking 1-4 win.
The next day changed the course of the club forever: against all odds, Marinakis announces (through press leaks) that Mendilibar signed a new multi-year contract. And when the Basque has a tactically bad match and Panathinaikos leaves Piraeus with an 1-3 win a few days later with the crowd booing everyone, Marinakis doesn't change his mind: the message to the players is that the coach isn't going anywhere, start performing.
Was it their bruised ego? Was it football wanting to reward a good decision over an impulsive one? Was it Maccabi thinking they're already through?
The match in Topola (Maccabi used it as "home") had everyone rubbing their eyes in disbelief: Olympiacos went to HT leading 0-3! And when CB Retsos gifted a penalty to the Israelis, the psychology shifted back with usually clumsy El Kaabi scoring a bicycle kick (!) and veterans Jovetic and El Arabi completed a mircale in extra-time: 1-6!
The draw was again kind, and the opponent in the 1st QF since 1999 was Fenerbahce (note: Greek clubs and Olympiacos in paticular are not afraid of Turkish clubs. In Greece they are considered as "rich but not necessarily stronger than us". I recall Turkish fans here seemed to think Fenerbahce is a club of the size of Porto or Ajax and clear favourites - in Greece they aren't seen like that. It's just the Greek fans and media POV, not an attempt to belittle Fenerbahce).
Until then though, the league campaign suffered a severe blow with an away 90th minute defeat to AEK in a match where Olympiacos was good but not clinical, with only slim hopes remaining for the title. But everyone's mind was in Europe.
Olympiacos entered the home leg pressing the error-prone Fenerbahce defense at every chance they got, and got a 3-0 lead after 60 minutes. But another stupid penalty given by Retsos plus lack of depth which brought fatigue allowed the Turkish team to make it 3-2 and a very close return leg...which started very wrong for Olympiacos, 1-0 down early on. The match "froze" for a big part and in the penalty shoot-out, Tzolakis who became starting GK at the 2nd leg against Maccabi Tel Aviv, saved 3/5, including the 5th one by Bonucci, and sent Olympiacos to heaven.
A rotated side managed to beat PAOK at home, dropped points to Aris and beat punching bag Lamia, and thanks to AEK's poor results vs PAOK, the title chase was also still on, with 3/3 wins in derbies needed.
Nobody was focusing on this: Olympiacos has a lot of titles, they can survive losing one. All eyes were on the prize: Aston Villa and the prospect of a final in AEK's stadium!
What followed was football giving back to Olympiacos what they deserved over the years: a perfect referee and VAR referee who didn't give any "home advantage" to the "big league" team, a perfect finishing night from the striker, and timing, always timing. Aston Villa scored early but the goal was cancelled because on an offensive foul (from the ones referees often miss), and Olympiacos shocks Villa Park in a counter attack with El Kaabi using Cash's heel to beat the offside trap by 1mm! 13 minutes later, El Kaabi doubles the lead with Mendilibar's press doing wonders against Lenglet and Olsen. Villa bounces back though, with a goal at the end of the 1st half (a limping Ortega couldn't follow Watkins) and equalize early in the 2nd half with Diaby catching Tzolakis by surprise. At this point the match reminds the Yassine Meriah-induced fiasco against Tottenham a few years ago, but this time Olympiacos doesn't crumble. Douglas Luiz gifts a penalty, and El Kaabi (who never misses penalties) completes his hat trick. 10 minutes later, Hezze who had never scored for Olympiacos tries a shot outside the box...deflection, Olsen doesn't react quickly, 2-4! Villa press a lot but tactical freezing of the pace and Luiz sending a penalty to the stands send Olympiacos back to Greece with the 2-goal lead.
In the week until the 2nd leg, reporters and English fans had started an irrational hype about Emi Martinez returning....forgetting that Villa needed 2-3 goals and a goalkeeper, even an elite one, doesn't really help much in that.
In a flaming Karaiskakis stadium, El Kaabi says thank you to Podence and Quini serving him a tap in on the counter and Villa has a mountain to climb and neither the stamina nor the morale to do it. Iborra and Carmo dominate the air, Retsos avoids his usual catastrophic error per match, Tzolakis is there when needed, and Villa has more or less the pointless possession that Spain's NT had in the World Cup.
El Kaabi puts the cherry on top with an identical VAR-verified goal: everyone believes he's offside, but a defender's heel keeps him onside. 2-0 and the dream of every Olympiacos fan (and nightmare of AEK and not only) is reality, final in Athens!
The league title is lost against a spirited and focused PAOK 3 days later. The club really wants to screw AEK for many reasons (mostly because of a fat Slovak referee gifting them a win in January in Piraeus) and beat them at home, sending the title to PAOK's hands. The domestic season ends with smiles after drawing Panathinaikos from 2-0 down and securing Europe for the next season.
The final is recent so I won't go into much detail: in an expectedly tactical and close match, Olympiacos made the dream come true in the way that the last 2 months went: El Kaabi goal in 116', dancing on the offside line, and VAR confirms that for the 3rd time he managed to find the millimeters separating glory from defeat!
Olympiacos caught their Moby Dick, lifted a European trophy in a season which was borderline disastrous for several months, filled haters with despair and fans with ecstatic joy and changed the club's history forever.
The golden team of the club, by order of matches started:

Rodinei: The best RB seen in Greece for many years, Rodinei is what Olympiacos fans dream from wing backs: a player with the technical skills of a no.10, who fearlessly runs forward and terrorizes opposition defenses when matched with Fortounis. He does leave gaps behind and isn't tactically very aware of crosses from the other side, but if he did that he would be in the Premier League. He almost became the black sheep when Livakovic saved his 5th penalty, but thanks to Tzolakis this moment cost nothing, and it would have been a huge pity for Rodinei. A cornerstone of the triumph!
Hezze: The soap opera tranfer of August was worth every second of waiting. Hezze started running in the summer and never stopped. A tireless athlete with the stamina of a long distance runner, the tactical awareness and tackle timing of a modern DM/CM, who held the midfield by himself every single match until February due to poor transfer planning, who also always has the clarity to pick the prime option when passing. The 22 years old Argentine was a hidden gem who shone very brightly once competent players played alongside him in the midfield, and got his personal reward as well with a goal in the Semi and the assist to the title-winning goal! Several European clubs are greedily looking at him, but there is the feeling that Marinakis is not going to sell him this summer.
Retsos: The most controversial player of the squad throughout the season. Retsos is an amazing CB 90% of the time, with an excellent ball-playing ability which made Leverkusen spend almost 20M for him when he was 18 years old. The other 10% of the time he has brainfart moments which usually lead to goals. In several matches throughout the year, he ruined his own excellent matches by giving an easy penalty or getting a red card or losing the ball where he shouldn't. He also had the bad luck to not get away with any of these errors - almost everything got punished with a goal while mistakes of others didn't end up in goals. This resulted to a lot of social media hate, peaking after the home match against Fenerbahce when his needless penalty kickstarted the return of the Turkish team in the tie. Nevertheless, he was still the 2nd best CB of the team and managed to not let his rollercoaster season affect him negatively in the final sprint, performing flawlessly against Villa and Fiorentina. If he stops the brainfart moments, he will become the best Greek CB ever.
Fortounis: The team captain lived a moment legends of the club were dreaming of. After 2 ACL injuries and a falling-out with Pedro Martins, he proved to everyone that he can make the difference at European-level pace, he can cover his wing back effectively (a chronic weakness of him), he can combine his lethal through balls with playing from the side and not strictly as no.10, and that Gustavo Poyet commited a crime by not having him in the national team (he rated Bakasetas more, lol). Fortounis gives solutions when matches get stuck, he opens the defenses and his creativity is a tool Olympiacos relies on so frequently that it's often taken for granted. He deserved this moment maybe a bit more than the rest. Top assister of the season!
Paschalakis: The starting goalkeeper for most of the season, dropped before the 1-6 against Maccabi. An old style keeper, with a huge body, very good reflexes, but with terrible ball-playing abilities and afraid to leave his line to clear crosses and corner kicks. Which was the reason, in parallel with the 7 goals in 3 days conceded to Maccabi and Panathinaikos, that Mendilibar changed him with Tzolakis. He had spectacular moments when the team wasn't well and there were many threats for the defense and accepted the secondary role in the end of the season with grace.
El Kaabi: Another amazing story reaching its climax. El Kaabi arrived in the summer with a career in Morocco, China, Qatar and one season in Turkish minnow Hatayspor. Noone was enthuiastic about him, and despite him quickly proving how easily he scores, there was still a lot of criticism about his limitations to control the ball and "break" it to the side and the fact he wasn't as technically skilled as prime El Arabi. His month in AFCON coincided with the team failing to score in many matches, and from February onwards he became an Olympiacos fan's dream of a striker: he was there in every single big match, finishing almost every one-touch chance he got: with his head, his feet, even a bicycle kick! He was what was expected from Tiquinho, from Oscar Cardozo, from so many bigger names who have passed from the team and never managed to be at the right spot at the right time as often as El Kaabi. 16 goals in Europe (2nd scorer of the club, in his 1st season!), 33 in total, 11 in 9 matches in the Conference League. 2 against Ferencvaros, 3 against Maccabi, 5 aganst Aston Villa and the golden goal of the final. That's an Olympiacos CF, the one the fans demand and rarely get to see. Clinical, always on the right side of the offside trap, present in big matches, 0 injuries. A player with an unremarkable career became a hero at Olympiacos and his name known in all Europe. What a story!
Masouras: When Olympiacos is struggling, Masouras is always there to fight and give solutions. When the team is rolling, he stands out negatively more often than not because he lacks the technical skills and quality a winger needs. Masouras became a bench player in the last 2-3 months and added his own part in the road to the title, as one of the clubs oldest players.
Ortega: The 2nd Argentine August arrival was the starting LB and had a lot of ups and downs. Tactically he isn't at the level he should be and makes it up with fighting spirit, technique and overlaps. He isn't Hezze, but covering the position occupied by the (hated by almost the entire fan base) talentless Reabciuk for 2 years, he had something rare: time. The bar was so low that there was patience to give him time to acclimatize and develop. As the rest of the team, he stepped up when it mattered and his 1st season in Europe ended ideally!
Podence: The short legend! When he got sold to Wolves, Olympiacos suffered for years, unable to find a winger of his quality. From players who are usesless without open space (Bruma), overweight players (Rony Lopes) to downright joke players (Onyekuru) and players who didn't give a shit (De La Fuente), everyone failed miserably to replace Podence. His return was greeted with joy and he showed why he is loved and was so hard to replace: the team's best dribbler, he improved his weak finishing in England (2nd scorer and 2nd assister of the season), he loves Greece and the club and gave everything he had most of the time (apart from his falling out with Carvalhal), he has a character and and an ego, he wins a lot of fouls, he is a tiny demon messing with every defender. He scored the 1st goal of the miracle against Maccabi, a screamer against Panathinaikos, he served on a silver platter to El Kaabi. Him, Hezze and El Kaabi were the summer transfers who changed the image of the team the first months.
Mady Camara: The less said, the better. An ungrateful, selfish player who believes he deserves to play in a bigger league and a bigger team, reluctantly stayed after Roma (and nobody else) wanted to buy him, chose to try hard only when he was personally interested, and was iced out of the team in January for refusing to renew and get sold, opting to leave as a free agent. Enjoy watching your teammates celebrate from your sofa, Mady!
Ntoi: An academy product, 20 years old, Ntoi was a DM in his youth career and was turned to a CB by Michel last season. He has good and bad qualities, not ready to be a starter for a team playing a high line but giving it all in Istanbul when he was needed in the return leg. He was the 1st bench option at the position for most of the season and he is with Tzolakis and Retsos one of the academy players who wrote their name in the history books with the title.
Quini: In Olympiacos, when you are a more limited player with a role to offer solutions from the bench, you are either a fan cult figure of a lightning rod for blame and hate. Quini zigzagged between the two, and his step-up when it mattered the most was one of the X factors. A veteran RB with a career in Segunda, he was asked to play LB often (thank Richards for being always injured) with mixed to poor results for most of the season. But with Ortega out against Villa, he had to step up for 3 halfs against the 4th PL team's wingers, and step up he did. He managed to limit the threats and assisted El Kaabi in the return leg to seal the presence in the final. Everyone played a part!
Chiquinho: Among the January transfers, he was the less flashy. Unknown to most people, the bar was low given the multiple failures of the last years when buying players from the Portuguese league, he soon proved everyone wrong and was one of the 3 January signings who turned the season around. An all around midfielder, playing both at no.8 and no.10, controlling the tempo and rushing forward when needed, with Hezze and Horta/Iborra he changed the way the midfield worked and turned the tide. He came with just 500k euros!
Carmo: Perhaps a 15M CB is what is necessary for Olympiacos to have a decent defense. Carmo came on loan from Porto in January and showed from his first game that he would be a season-changer. Strong, dominant and confident, he became the leader of the defense and changed the fate of the club. His block in Fiorentina's chance in 121' was his personal rubber stamp to a season his arrival turned around. Porto's asking price is high, but there's hope Olympiacos will manage to keep him. Best CB after Ruben Semedo and without criminal tendencies. He is worth every euro.
Tzolakis: Among so many stories, the one of Tzolakis is the greatest. The 21 years old goalkeeper was second for most of the season, with his performance in a few matches in previous seasons being lukewarm. Mendilibar made him starter before the return leg against Maccabi, valuing his quick thinking and skill to play with his legs and come out of the box when needed, and nobody could image what would follow. The young GK played with the confidence of a seasoned veteran, had flawless matches against Maccabi and Fenerbahce and became the ultimate hero in Istanbul by saving 3/5 penalties! From there with morale sky high, he was a rock until the end of the season, with 2 clean sheets in the 2nd Semi and the Final, and from another young prospect who was thinking of leaving to find playing time, you're looking at the starting GK of Olympiacos for years to come!
Alexandropoulos: The former Panathiniakos youngster on loan from Sporting scored one of the most crucial goal of the seasons: the equalizer against Genk in early August when half the squad hadn't arrived yet. His contribution came in the less flashy part of the season, but it was just as valuable. He didn't find much playing time the last months since Mendilibar preferes technically skilled midfielders and he's a bit clumsy, but if he stays there's a lot of room for improvement.
Horta: A technically artistic albeit a bit soft CM, Horta gave much needed solutions and filled the midfield of Olympiacos with quality and simplicity. Releasing pressure from Fortounis and Podence, sometimes from the bench sometimes as a starter, Horta was another missing piece of the puzzle which fell in place. He also put the nail in AEK's coffin with 2 goals which took the title out of their hands!
Navarro: You can't have 100% success in January transfers. Navarro is not a great goalscorer, he can't do much against parked buses, doesn't have the positioning of El Kaabi or the skill of Jovetic, and it's frankly a mystery why Porto values him at 8M.
Iborra: Extreme makeover, football edition. Iborra in a 4-2-3-1 system looked like a geriatric dinosaur, unable to follow the pace, slow, tired and generally useless. Mendilibar saw something in him though and when he changed the system in a 4-3-2-1 with both Hezze and Chiquinho alongside him, the 36 years old Spaniard turned to a leader in the pitch: calm, methodic, dominant in the air, he was a different player and lifted his 5th European trophy, with significant contribution to it!
Biancone: A rather mediocre CB with no attributes to make him stand out, he played in league matches mostly before March.
Jovetic: The Montenegrin veteran stayed away from injuries, with the correct usage (coming from the bench), and proved his quality: technique, experience and big moment goals, with the 5th against Maccabi his highlight. Everything you can ask from a substitute forward!
Carvalho: A meme player who cost the Greek Cup with a missed 5th penalty, mediocrity and lack of mental strength, a Mendes plant who made a career with almost zero skills to play anywhere above Rio Ave.
Biel: A player completely unfit for the brutal environment of Olympiacos. He rarely managed to show his talent, he cracked under pressure, he doesn't fight back but his performance takes a nosedive if things go wrong. Shipped to Augsburg in January.
Richards: The medical center's permanent resident, he showed flashes of quality, but what's the point if his body is made of glass?
Freire: A wrong transfer from the start, a mediocre player, error prone, not a great match with any of the other CBs, left in January. Night vs day compared to Carmo.
Gelson Martins: A proper winger, with acceleration, dribble and threat to the defense. Not in the European list because only 3 changes were possible in January, but he rested the starters in the league and is a big hope for the next season as long as he stays healhy.
Porozo: Average, never justified the hype, not worse than Freire but his lack of an EU passport led him to being ommitted from the squad more often than not due to league rules, and left in January.
Solbakken and Scarpra: Flops of the season. Came with much fanfare and high expectations, and offered nothing. We're still waiting for a player coming from Forest to be in the "good" and not the "mediocre" or "bad".
Abbey: A prospect CB who came from Reading in January, showed raw talent in several matches and will play more next year.
El Arabi: A club legend says goodbye in the best way possible. At age 37, he couldn't have the role he was used to, but what better way to close his career in the club? His last game was the winning final, his last goal was the 6th against Maccabi Tel Aviv. With 20 goals he is the club's top scorer in Europe, in the top 10 scorers overall, and the most talented all around CF seen for at least a decade. Thanks for everything!
Vezo: A Mendes transfer, probably in a silent deal to bring us the good Portuguese alongside. Didn't play much, not sure what his level is, he is no Carmo though.
Vrousai: Academy player, on loan to Rio Ave to find game time.
Cabral: He got injured at the only part of the season where he could have found minutes. Came as an extra solution for Greece, can't say we saw it.
Brnic: Started the season strongly but with Podence's arrival he couldn't find space in the squad.
Apostolopoulos: Academy player who debuted with the first team against Aston Villa! Mendilibar proved he isn't afraid at the slightest with his debut.
Ramon: I forgot he played. One of our many mediocrities out on loan.

Future:
Apart from the obvious (the title itself), Olympiacos won the chance to change the next years for the club as well: the direct spot in the next Europa League league phase means a proper pre-season without qualifiers. It means planning without must-win matches in the summer.
The club completes 100 years in 2025 and Marinakis was already talking about the EL Final in Bilbao! Wild, but shows the mood to raise the budget, keep the key players and aim even higher!

2024.05.31 16:30 simon_dateup I asked a girl out at Starbucks, and she said yes! 🙌

This is one of the best reference experiences I had. In 2017, I was in Madrid at Callao, one of the most famous squares of the Spanish capital. At that time, there was still a Starbucks where there is now a perfume store at the corner of the square. I still remember the time; I used to go there every morning at 10:30am to get my grande hot cappuccino, even if the weather was extremely hot and sunny (it was late July).
I remember that as soon as I entered, there was a beautiful girl with light brown, almost red, long straight hair and blue eyes waiting in line. As soon as I walked in, our eyes met, and I knew that we both already liked each other. When you have these kinds of prolonged eye contact with someone you find interesting, it is usually a good sign. I consider this non-verbal communication as a conversation starter, even if there’s no exchange of words. Noticing these patterns helped me a lot with my approach anxiety as I considered the conversation already started between me and her.
The thing was, this Starbucks had an incredibly long line, and there were at least six people between me and her. I started to panic a bit, thinking that she would have picked up her order and disappear into the streets of Madrid. That was the only reason I felt stressed - not because I was nervous about talking to her, but because I was afraid she would be gone forever! So another important thing that I was doing was to reframe my feelings in a positive way in order to support my goal rather than letting them go against it.
Five minutes passed until the line moved on and I finally paid for my cappuccino. My card beeped and meanwhile, she was waiting for her order to be delivered. And that’s when something magical happened: she took her order, left the Starbucks, but surprisingly, the barista called “Simon!” and gave me my cappuccino just 30 seconds after her latte! I don’t know why that happened so fast, and why I skipped the five orders in front of me! but I immediately jumped out of the Starbucks, hoping she wouldn’t have disappeared forever. What if I can’t see her in the crowd? What if she entered the metro? Maybe she crossed the street? But then... she was just waiting outside of the door, looking around! She wasn’t moving or walking; she was standing there!
I didn’t hesitate and walked closer, I smiled and I told her that she looked French! She started to laugh and said yes! She was from Paris! I guessed right! I kept talking and introduced myself - I had just met Alexandra! We talked a bit, joked about the fact that Italians want the Mona Lisa back (we really do! :) ), and since we were both tourists planning to explore the city, I suggested to walk toward the Royal Palace together. She said yes! We had an amazing walk until we decided we should also visit together the Parque del Retiro and the Palacio de Cristal, and then one thing led to another; we had lunch and dinner together. It was one of the best dates of my life.
I wanted to share this memory with you because in life, you never know where the next opportunity to meet someone special will come from. Honestly, you shouldn’t even think about it too much. What matters is that when an opportunity arises, you have the right attitude, mindset, and experience to turn that opportunity into a great memory.
If there are five things you can learn from my experience, I would say:
  1. There’s no perfect moment to talk with someone; do it as soon as possible. Sometimes I still think the best thing in that situation would have been to skip the line and go directly to talk to her.
  2. The fear of having regrets is more powerful and more positive than the fear of rejection. Make sure to be dominated by the right fear. The girl that is looking at you or smiling at you could be your wife in the future, and if you miss that opportunity, she’ll be gone forever.
  3. I didn’t overthink about what to say or how to start the conversation. I just said it correctly nonverbally and without trying to be perfect.
  4. I didn’t go to Starbucks with the idea of meeting someone there; I just wanted my cappuccino. But when you see an opportunity, you need to be proactive. It doesn’t matter if you’re at the airport, at the park, or commuting back home. Make sure to be ready.
  5. Don’t plan too much ahead: in the moment, I didn’t know that we would spend so much time together, but I managed to enjoy the moment as much as possible, and that’s what she ended up doing as well.

2024.05.31 15:58 ToomintheEllimist [Cooking contests] “Pico de GAL-low”: Great British Bake-Off Destroys Its Entire Premise with Racist Blunders

The Background
Great British Bake Off (GBBO) is a cooking contest show that has been on BBC since 2010, Channel 4 since 2017. It’s long been notable for its refusal to entertain petty drama: in a 2014 incident known as “bingate”, judges famously voted off contestant Iain because he “lost it” after his ice cream was accidentally removed from a refrigerator. The judges later praise (and favor?) contestants like Nadiya and Rahul who persist through similar mishaps to deliver imperfect-but-intact food. Many fans saw bingate as a declaration of identity, that GBBO is not an American high-drama competition between cutthroat cheaters “not here to make friends” — it’s a cozy apolitical show where contestants help one another, and the worst drama comes from a mix-up between custards quickly resolved with heartfelt apology.
GBBO is a show about food, not interpersonal drama. It’s about British food, but also about multicultural influences on British food. It’s about being polite and caring and utterly British, soldiering on through dropped ice-creams and elbow-smashed rolls. It’s not about corporate sponsorship, and it’s not about politics.
HOWEVER. Then came Series 13. The resultant backlash caused a restructuring of the show, an alleged firing of a host, and a classic series of corporate apologies.
The Blunder
To be clear: what made the Series 13 fuckup unique was NOT (merely) going beyond the judges’ and contestants’ expertise in ways that revealed the hidden imperialism of the show’s assumptions about “coziness," “lack of drama," and "apolitical food." What made the Series 13 fuckup unique was that the show did all that for North American food.
The Imperialism
Butchering foreign recipes, and blundering in describing non-Anglo food, isn’t actually new for GBBO. S1E2, judge Paul refers to challah as “plaited bread” and claims it’s “dying off,” leading Shira Feder to declare “GBBO has zero Jewish friends.” Throughout S10, judges Prue and Paul ask contestants of SE Asian descent (Michael, Priya) to “tone down the spice” and stop using “so many chiles.” Paul openly declares American pie disgusting. In a brownie challenge (S11E04), literally every contestant fails to make good or edible food. During “Japan” Week (scare quotes intended), the challenges include Chinese bao and a stir fry where most contestants use Indian flavors. Hosts mispronouncing non-Anglo food names (“schichttorte,” “babka”) for humorous effect is a running bit on the show.
These incidents were not without backlash, but (until S13) none of it rose to the interest of producers.
S13E04: Mexican Week
GBBO has had national-themed weeks since S2, with what’s alternately referred to as “Patisserie” or “French Week.” In S11, it finally expanded beyond Europe with “’Japan’” Week. And in S13, in what was no doubt an effort to appeal to the simple majority of viewers who view the show through Netflix from North America, the producers gave us Mexican Week. Or “”Mexican”” Week. At least there were no bao this time?
This tweet of a butchered avocado foreboded everything wrong with the episode. Though the U.K. etc. largely consider avocado an exotic luxury (see: the avocado toast meme), in North America it’s been a staple for millennia, #1 produce item in Mexico and #6 in the U.S. last year. Contestant Carole’s attempts to cut the avocado… like an apple? I guess? result in food waste, and an inedible end product if pieces of the skin or toxic core are mixed in with the flesh. It calls into question the alleged expertise of the contestant bakers.
Then the episode aired. It opens with white hosts Noel and Matt in sombreros and sarapes (costume versions, not historical garb), Noel announcing “I don’t think we should make Mexican jokes; people will get upset.” Matt asks, “Not even Juan?” And Noel replies, “Not even Juan.” As NYT points out: both men have a history of blackface and brownface on other shows, so this is hardly out of the norm for them. It then goes into a montage sequence of the contestants proclaiming their lack of knowledge of Mexican food: “What do Mexicans even bake?”
Then contestant Janusz refers to “cactuses” and judge Prue interrupts him to say “cacti”; Janusz apologizes and corrects it to “cacti.” Cactuses is a correct plural. Then Noel’s voice-over complains about the “tongue-twisting title” of bella naranja. It just keeps coming. Paul and Prue go on to explain to the viewer that tacos typically contain “pico de GAL-low,” repeatedly saying “gallo” as if it is a singular of “gallows.” These are the people, let me remind you, who are being paid for their food expertise. The people who are about to judge food on the extent to which it is “authentically Mexican.” The people who can’t even say the name of the unofficial national sauce of Mexico. But in case you were worried that this buffoonery calls into question the whole premise of the show, fear not — Paul “recently visited Mexico”, and Prue “enjoy[s] a tres leces [sp] cake.”
Meanwhile in the tent, the poor contestants try to make tortillas… with the undersides of mixing bowls. Because there are no tortilla presses, and the show doesn’t appear to know what a tortilla press is. “Bleh!” one contestant announces, after trying cumin, “It’s burning my mouth… Well, it’s meant to be Mexican, isn’t it?” All of them speculate on what “pick-io day galliow” could be.
If I could soapbox for a second: it’s not so much that these fuckups happen. It’s that every single one makes the final edit. 10+ hours of baking, likely 20+ hours of testimonials, and an unknown number of reshoots got turned into a 60-minute episode… and no one bothered to look up the plural(s) of “cactus” or how to pronounce the Spanish word for “chicken.” GBBO has zero Hispanic friends. We all get the history of anglicizing words like “lieutenant” and “bangle.” But it’s not fucking ideal to be evoking that history so blatantly and clumsily, not when (an estimate since Netflix doesn’t do numbers) over 70% of your audience is syndicating this show from the Americas. To paraphrase Taika Waititi: the recent increase in performers of color is great… but behind the camera, most big shows are still whiter than a Willie Nelson concert.
S13E06: Halloween Week
This was the cherry on the shit sundae. Meant to be a North American week. Yes, Halloween originated in the British Isles, but it only became a major holiday in the U.S., and all the bakes were North American. It just added to the clusterfuck to see judges Paul and Prue deducting for contestants melting the marshmallow in their s’mores, presenting the piñata as Halloween décor, and otherwise anglicizing the hell out of bakes with North American names.
The Consequences
That avocado image went viral, as did the blatant incompetence about s’mores. The New York Times’s Tejal Rao did a great piece on the “casually racist” history of GBBO, archived here. Dozens of American publications got in on the criticism. Again, I want to emphasize: this wasn’t the first colonialist blunder committed by GBBO. It was just one impossible for North American viewers to ignore.
It also proved impossible for the BBC to ignore. Host Matt Lucas left the show, allegedly after being asked to step down. He was replaced by GBBO’s first-ever cast member of color: Alison Hammond is a comedian of Afro-Caribbean descent and a veteran TV host. GBBO announced an end to all “national” weeks. Reddit bandied the phrase “jump the shark.” The future of the BBC’s most popular reality show is looking murky.
Regardless of what else happens, the illusion of GBBO as “cozy” and “apolitical” has collapsed. Probably for good.
Footnotes
  1. I used the British name and numbering system for the show, despite being from the U.S., because those are more conventional online.
  2. “Cactuses” and “cacti” are both correct plurals of “cactus.” I’m not saying Prue had the plural wrong; I’m saying Janusz’s plural didn’t need correcting.

2024.05.31 14:27 PretentiousHip91 My ranking of (almost) every Zelda game

I did post this on the other Zelda subreddit a while back, and got accused of trolling, which kind of hurt tbh after playing Zelda games for over 25 years, and owning every physical copy (the CDi ones are reproductions though, cause... you've seen their cost). I think it's simply because my rankings are more unorthodox, but I have the arguments to back them up.
I'll do a slight, mostly spoiler-free description for every ranking, but if you want me to discuss any points in detail, I'll be happy to do it, even covering them up with the spoiler tag if needed (trust me I can talk for ages about every game lol). I'll add a spoiler flair just in case as future potential discussions might contain them.
Without further ado, here it is:
  1. Tri-Force Heroes - This basically felt like a bad f2p mobile game, including repeating levels on the chance of getting incredibly overpowered items. It's also the least friendly to play singleplayer BY FAR. The reflexes needed to achieve some tasks is practically impossible, and boss battles become a lot more annoying with their length because you only one person to do everything. I did like the silly setting and the fashion designs though.
  2. Link: The Faces of Evil - The CDi controls is the biggest flaw of it. I don't hate the console, but it only works for games where you can take your time with the controls such as point and click adventure games and other multimedia. It simply wasn't made for a more action-oriented game such as this. However, there is also the tiresome grinding aspect of getting all the bombs, ropes, lamp oil, and snowballs. It doesn't have that sense of adventure either as you gotta explore stuff out of order to find out what tasks to accomplish. It sounds fine, but with gameplay like this you just shudder at the thought of repeating some areas instead of that sense of escapism into the in-game world.
  3. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - This is just a bad fanfic. However, it's the complexity of the combat that ruins it. You just do filler attacks while waiting for the rune logo to pop up. You then use the proper one, stun them, and them attack their weakness gauge. There's also hardly any enemy variety. It makes sense for botw as it's not combat-oriented, but in this when you gotta fight like 50 moblins with one mission it makes it by far the most repetitive game in the series.
  4. Zelda's Adventure - The combat of this is atrocious. However, I loved some of the dungeon and enemy designs. I'd suggest looking it up, especially an interview of the enemy designer (I can link it if needed). There's a crystal and circus dungeon which looked cool, and one dungeon was you going through a sort of knight tournament that was full of friendly NPCs. Plus, one of the bosses is a werewolf jester that does cartwheels... come on that rules.
  5. Zelda: Wand of Gamelon - This is the best one simply because I found that it had a lot less grinding without you needing snowballs. It felt easier to kill the bosses with the right items as well, but maybe it was just because I played this second, so I knew the gameplay style more?
  6. Tingle's Balloon Fight - This DEFINITELY took advantage of the real estate of the DS. Making the levels vertical made the levels fantastic. However, it's 99 levels, and it's not in order of difficulty. You will get tired of it after a dozen or so. There is another mode that's like the NES version, but it's the most boring thing imaginable.
  7. Four Swords - This was the one I had to play multiplayer with my partner. It's simply too much of a collectathon. However, the boss battles were fun.
  8. Twilight Princess Picross - Do I really need to expand on this? It's picross! I do enjoy those puzzles, but I obviously get a lot more out of most Zelda games.
  9. Link's Crossbow Training - This had massive potential to me. There are two stages that are fantastic in this which I won't spoil. However, I felt like a more "campaign" style game would have been a lot more effective to me. This is just 3 stages per level where you advance depending on your scores. Imagine if this did the same approach as the House of the Dead games.
  10. Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the Necrodancer is a masterpiece to me. This one didn't feel as effective because after a while you find a ton of needed items, it becomes a joke difficulty wise. It didn't give that sense of a power fantasy that I don't mind in other games where this happens, so it all felt underwhelming.
  11. Skyward Sword - This is something that I gotta do a more spoiler-heavy discussion, so I won't mention anything in-depth for now. I will say this: This jumps back and forth between being an incredible masterpiece, to the most absurd game design choices I've ever seen, back and forth so often that it was a very interesting game to play.
  12. Oracle of Seasons - The dungeons didn't feel nearly as interesting as in Oracle of Ages. I didn't like that it didn't have a variety of settings for each dungeon, as you keep having to return to this one area after every dungeon. Plus, this has the most underwhelming bosses in the entire series. It makes sense if you've played the older Zelda games.
  13. Hyrule Warriors - This also felt like a bad fanfic, but at least it was the insane kind. I mean, Cia? Especially with how some of those cutscenes are impressive. It was so strange to see that in a Zelda game, but hilarious. I preferred the gameplay of this over Age of Calamity. It is just mashing buttons, but the arcade-like nature and overall fast-pace of it made it quite fun.
  14. Ancient Stone Tablets - This was a fantastic idea, and I love how there are fan restorations of how it was originally presentation. It also had some of the best minigames in the entire series. However, the dungeons simply suck. I think it's because they have an episodic format, so they have to make them simple, but having the hidden rooms visible when you get the map? What's the point?
  15. Phantom Hourglass - I dunno if Linebeck counts as a companion, but if he does then he is easily the best one. The overall dungeon designs of this is great, and it uses the DS gimmicks in a very entertaining way. However, we all know the big flaw of this one...
  16. A Link Between Worlds - There's a simple reason why I didn't love this as much as the other ones: the item rental system. It ruined the dungeons to me. I loved the formula of the dungeons from the other Zelda games. Only a few areas being accessible, the enemies being tougher to fight, and needing to kill the miniboss to finally get that item, where it completely opens up the dungeon. It's a satisfying experience. With this, you have the item already. Each dungeon only takes like 10-15 minutes, and that sense of satisfaction is all gone.
  17. Wind Waker - This started out as a masterpiece, but it's the last third or so of the game that ruins it. The 2 dungeons with escorting being involved, and the infamous part. I did read that they had to sort of rush this game, so that explains why they had some of the worst filler.
  18. Spirit Tracks - This felt the opposite. I HATED this game at first. You use the microphone so often which is incredibly unreliable. However, later on when you're not so dependent on that, the game is just fantastic. I loved the dungeon designs of these, being more puzzle-heavy, and honestly, the train stuff is fun. It's weird that they hated that stuff for the overworld, as other Zelda games, like the two boat ones, do something quite familiar. The overworld song helped quite a bit. It's one of the best tracks in the series.
  19. BS Zelda - This is another one like Ancient Stone Tablets which has the fan restoration. It didn't feel like a romhack of A Link to the Past like Ancient Stone Tablets did, but rather a remaster of the first game. It's cool seeing the sprite design of the bosses. Plus, there's one track that was a robot rapping the plot of the first game over electronic-heavy funk music. It's about as awesome as it sounds.
  20. Four Swords Adventures - This might have been a bias because this was a multiplayer game that not only didn't feel like suffering, but was very easy to play singleplayer in. I simply just had so much more fun with this than usual. It probably is a case of a overhyping, with that "FINALLY" sort of feeling, but hey that's how opinions work at times.
  21. Twilight Princess - This felt like the safest entry in the franchise, and it takes too long for it to get started. I also found the in-game world to be way too huge in an underwhelming way. However, this easily has some of the best dungeons in the series. Once you reach the 2nd dungeon the game REALLY picks up. Only other flaw later on is that although some of those items are cool, they're practically useless outside of their respective dungeons.
  22. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - It's probably infamous having it here, It's simply because this has the most satisfying combat in the series. Figuring out the enemy patterns, and some of the very cool attacks you can eventually do. It is a meme, but it almost felt "proto-souls-like". I found that it didn't take too long to get the dungeons after game overs as well. With a few quality of life improvements, with stuff like getting rid of the limited lives, or the NES trends like enemies making you fall down cliffs mid-jump, this would have been a masterpiece.
  23. The Legend of Zelda - This game had a fantastic pacing to it, and I found that it aged really well. The sense of adventure is still there, and I felt that sense of escapism. The dungeon designs are fun to still go through, which especially makes sense if you've played games like Binding of Isaac which made it seem fresh. This might be a boomer moment for me though. I'm not old enough for the NES days, but I did grow up playing the SNES, so I wouldn't mind game mechanics like this.
  24. Oracle of Ages - Some of the hardest dungeons are here. If you're up for a challenge, this is the game to play. This improved Oracle of Seasons in almost every way. There are variety for the areas, but this also had some of the best boss battles in the series. I can go more into detail by entering spoiler territory, but they have very interesting ways of defeating the bosses that are unlike any other entry in the series.
  25. Tingle Rosey Rupeeland - The postmodern Zelda game (not even the most postmodern in the series). First off, I should mention the company behind this. It's Vanpool, who used to be a company called Love-de-Lic, which came from employees of the company Square. The people that made this game have a connection to games such as Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, and Moon. The latter is impressive, because it was THE inspiration for Undertale. The sense of Undertale's subversion is apparent in this game as well. This has game design choices that you would never see in any other game. They are mostly surprises, so I won't mention them for now. However, the major flaw of this is that you don't know the value of items that you're buying or selling. I think you need a wiki for that to enjoy this game a lot more. The thing is, the concept of it makes sense if you go the more economic angle, with how greed in a capitalist society works. This could be more of an essay, and enters spoiler territory, but I'll gladly talk about it. Because of this, I have to respect that game design choice, even if I don't necessarily like it.
  26. Majora's Mask - It's starting now where I have to be REALLY nitpicky, because they're all masterpieces. This felt like one of the "deepest" games in the series, and one of the most emotional. I even cried during the scene after the first dungeon. There are many interpretations as to what this game consists of, and I even came up with a few myself that I could discuss. My nitpicky thing is that there is a repetitive miniboss.
  27. Breath of the Wild - I'll summarize this in one sentence for now, because this is something that I can lost in with discussing it. This is basically a Ubisoft game done right. That is a huge accomplishment.
  28. Ocarina of Time - I didn't play this the most as a kid, but definitely the second most. I enjoyed its plot for how much it'll help kids, such as being the outsider like he was in the Kokori Forest wasn't a bad thing. The huge jump in difficulty with the dungeons after the first 3 makes sense when you consider the context of the plot at the time. Basically, this is the game where everything was done right, and I can't think of any major flaws.
  29. Minish Cap - This is the perfect entry point of the series for newcomers as it's the most accessible one. The gimmick of this is absolutely fantastic, to the point that even with its one flaw (two underwhelming bosses), I still have to rank this above Ocarina of Time. Many of the items here were used in Skyward Sword, and it's hilarious how much better they are implemented here.
  30. Tears of the Kingdom - Take Breath of the Wild, and improve it in nearly every aspect. I don't like to commit so many hours to video games, maybe it's the fact that I'm getting older and they can be too time consuming, but I put in over 100 hours into this. It's interesting through a game design standpoint, seeing how much they try to foolproof stuff, and let you explore how to accomplish tasks.
  31. A Link to the Past - This was the one I played the most as a kid, and is one of the two first video games I've ever got my hands on (the other being Yoshi's Island). The big thing about this is that it established the Zelda formula that was used until Breath of the Wild, AND it already perfected it. That's just mindblowing.
  32. Link's Awakening - This regards the Switch remake. It is subversive with how the plot plays out, and the graphics of the switch remake helps emphasize the true nature of its plot. It's also one of the "heaviest" games in terms of emotion, as it explores the true horror that all of us face at some point in our lives: existentialism. Take some of the most interesting dungeon designs that were still used in the Oracle games, yet somehow better implemented here, and you have the utmost masterpiece.
  33. Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love - I assume this is why people though I was trolling, so I should talk more than usual about this entry before someone asks for me to go in-depth. Firstly, I have a tattoo of the 4 major characters of this game. The other thing is that point and click adventure games is my favourite video game genre, so it makes sense that I would really love this. However, this is also incredibly postmodern, AND a parody of not only many games, but game design choices. The places this goes, and the genres it does for a short amount of time, always kept this game incredibly interesting and fresh. It is insanity in the best way possible. It also has THE best plot of any Zelda game. Like it is leagues ahead of the others. I'll just summarize it like this: I HATED Tingle before playing this game. I wanted to make a very long YouTube video ranking the series before I lost interest in making videos and got too busy adulting, and I avoided this and the other Tingle on purpose, and only gave in when another ranked video came out including them. I watched a vinesauce compilation of this first. It was 20 minutes long, and after 8-9 minutes I knew I had to stop and immediately play this. What happened in the end? Tingle grew on me. I ended up loving him as a character. In fact, during an arc moment with him I had an incredibly emotional experience with it, and I even cried. Yes... Tingle made me cry. Doesn't that say enough? If you want to try something very different, borderline cozy at times, and don't mind the more absurdist sort of humour, I'm sure you would love this if you go in with an open mind. Or at the very least, check out that vinesauce compilation on youtube. Plus, like with Rosey Rupeeland, there is a social aspect to this if you end up analyzing it.
If you've reached this point, thanks for reading up, and hopefully we can have a discussion out of this.

2024.05.31 12:53 forex4all Binanceapis.com Review: Is It a Scam or Good Broker?

In the quickly developing field of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, Binanceapis has become a fascinating and enigmatic website. This website has drawn the interest of both cryptocurrency aficionados and inquisitive people due to its mysterious name, which is similar to that of the well-known cryptocurrency exchange Binance, and its elusive online presence. We will take a close look into Binanceapis's operations in this extensive post, hoping to clarify some of its standout features, possible ramifications, and general user experience.
The Allure of Ambiguity: It is immediately clear that Binanceapis.com is not your typical cryptocurrency platform upon visiting its site. The mysterious layout and unclear branding of the website created an air of mystery and intrigue right once. Even if the names are similar, there are no overt signs of an affiliation or support from the well-known exchange. The enigma surrounding Binanceapis is increased by the lack of a conventional navigation menu, thorough explanations, or even an indication of the platform's intended purpose.
Curious visitors encounter a maze of mysterious pages and material as they seek to navigate the website. It seems that the scant material was purposefully created to defy easy interpretation. It is often given in broken sentences or vague phrases. The uncertainty is further enhanced by the usage of unusual symbols, codes, and iconography, leaving visitors with more questions than answers.
The Mysterious User Experience: Using Binanceapis is like setting off on a confusing trip into the unknown. The purposeful opacity of the user experience makes it difficult for visitors to understand the significance of each click and interaction.
When apparently random links are clicked, confusing graphics, mysterious questions, and cryptic text are shown on websites. Users are left to decipher the esoteric material of the website on their own, which exacerbates the feeling of confusion caused by the lack of clear directions or explanations.
Binanceapis seems to use an unusual and non-linear navigation structure, which is interesting. A more flexible and unexpected user experience replaces conventional website hierarchies and logical page progressions. This method intensifies the feeling of mystery even further by putting visitors in the middle of a digital maze and leaving them confused of where they are going or the meaning of what they are doing.
The Speculative Crypto Community: Binanceapis has drawn a devoted following of cryptocurrency enthusiasts who love the mystery and conjecture around the site, despite its obscure nature and lack of an obvious purpose. These people, who are often called "Binanceapis seekers," regularly use the site, exchanging hypotheses, figuring out hints, and working together to solve the mystery of Binanceapis.
Discussion boards and online forums have developed as centers of activity where people interested in Binanceapise together to share information, brainstorm, and make theories regarding the actual purpose of the website. In the process of deciphering Binanceapis's enigmatic information, people have developed a feeling of unity and common purpose.
The sensation of exclusivity and belonging inside the Binanceapis group is further enhanced by the development of an internal jargon and inside jokes. A distinct subculture where the excitement of conjecture and the quest for knowledge trump traditional online relationships has been formed by the shared experience of navigating the site's secrets.
Possible Implications and hypotheses: Just as Binanceapis remains mysterious, so too do hypotheses and conjectures about its possible ramifications. Some speculate that the website may be an advanced experiment in blockchain and cryptography, pursuing new avenues in safe data storage and transmission. The platform's enigmatic design may serve as evidence of the promise of decentralized systems and the strength of encryption.
Some suggest that Binanceapis may serve as a portal to a decentralized finance (DeFi) system or a secret coin. The website may include intricate treasure hunt-like hints and mysterious prompts that reveal a new digital asset or innovative financial application.
Theories further indicate that Binanceapis may be connected to a bigger ARG or a riddle with a cryptocurrency theme. The site may include codes and mysterious messages that, if deciphered by committed users, might form part of a much longer story.
Nonetheless, it is essential to proceed cautiously with these notions in light of the absence of an official affiliation with Binance. It is not impossible to rule out the likelihood that Binanceapis is an unapproved or fake site looking to profit from the Binance name. Before interacting with the site or disclosing any personal information, users should be very cautious and do extensive research.
The Perils of Unpredictabilities
There are serious worries regarding the possible hazards associated with using Binanceapis due to its opaque nature and lack of transparency. In the event that consumers are not provided with clear information about the ownership, purpose, and security protocols of the website, they run the risk of being exposed to malware, phishing attempts, and other frauds.
Malicious actors may be drawn to the crypto ecosystem's anonymity and lack of regulatory control in an attempt to take advantage of people's curiosity and conjecture about sites like Binanceapis. Before using any strange or cryptic cryptocurrency site, consumers should always be cautious and do extensive research—especially if the platform seems to be trying to capitalize on the popularity of a well-known company like Binance.
In summary, Binanceapis positions itself as an enigmatic and nontraditional player in the wide realm of cryptocurrency. Its mysterious user interface, devoted community of explorers, and opaque nature have all contributed to its allure and perplexity.
Even if the real goal and significance of Binanceapis are still unclear, the website serves as a reminder of the attraction of the unknown and the lasting power of mystery in the quickly changing cryptocurrency world. The site's presence questions our ideas about what a cryptocurrency platform ought to be and how it ought to work, pushing us to consider the limits of digital experiences and the usefulness of ambiguity in a world becoming more transparent by the day.
But it's important to proceed cautiously and skeptically while dealing with Binanceapis and other mysterious sites. Engaging with unknown organizations might expose people to possible damage in the crypto world, which is full of dangers and uncertainties. This is especially true when there are worries about the unlawful use of well-known trademarks.
Users should emphasize security, do extensive research, and seek advice from reliable sources before delving into the mysterious realm of platforms such as Binanceapis, since the cryptocurrency ecosystem is still developing. In the face of the unknown, the value of being cautious and doing your research cannot be emphasized, even while the thrill of conjecture and the search for information may be enticing.

2024.05.31 02:06 Mrarkplayermans Fucking done

Honestly don’t even know what to do anymore. Leaving it all doesn’t seem like such a far out idea anymore. It all just seems to get worse and then ease a little then just get even worse. My dad’s always flipping his shit. And it fucking blows. The one person who actually loved me unconditionally was my mother. And last year on march 25 she succumbed to brain cancer. I was always hopeful it wouldn’t happen but it did. She was awesome, always loving, never unreasonable about anything, and she would have NEVER done anything to hurt me. I miss and love her so much. Living pretty poor, dads got crazy credit card debt. He’s always flipping his shit anymore. I’m always doing something wrong, and then he rants about how everyone is against him. And he is crazy abt it to bc like bruh nobody is out to get us or you. But I think he’s manipulative, idk if it’s on purpose or if he’s jus t a sociopath. Seems like when I talk he doesn’t give a shit. It’s always half responses and a lot of time he’ll just ignore it or start talking abt something else. Today he flipped his shit on me. Not the first time and not even the worst. But I’m fucking done. I want to run away but idk what I’d do and I don’t want to leave my sister behind and I don’t want to put her in the situation of running away. Today we went out to work. I thought it was gonna be a good day and we was just going to enjoy working. No. It wasn’t. We was having good conversations and just having a good time. For context we work with firewood. We cut it and sell it in pickup truck loads. We get some work done and then he moves onto the next tree. So I sit on the truck tailgate while I wait for him to get some wood down. He got a little cut and I was expecting that he was going to throw it down a little bit for me to take to the truck. Not unreasonable or nothing because that is literally what we just fucking did. So I’m just chilling there waiting for that. And then he looks down at me and condescendingly says “it ain’t gonna get done by you sitting there”. I didn’t like that but I was willing to fix my fuck up and get to work. I get up there again and he’s keeping on and on with his bullshit. He then starts comparing me to my mother. This is what bothered me. He was talking abt how they would have it done in like an hour and a half when they was doing it. This was fucked up to me. She was hard working. EXTREMELY hard working, it was awesome. But it made me feel like shit having him tell me how much slower I am. And honestly it’s an unrealistic expectation, she was like a beast in her work. Not to be little professional victim here but hearing this was just a reminder that she’s dead. So that pissed me off and I kind of started dissociating a little bi. So I stop talking and just keep working. And when I’m taking the wood to the truck he keeps thanking me in this almost sarcastic way. So I just keep quiet because what th fuck yk? And then he’s all like did I hurt your feelings son?? In the same borderline sarcasm. So I just say “huh??” Bc I didn’t want to talk abt it. We keep working he seems alright. Then near the end of the load he said something and it kind of prompted what I had been thinking about saying anyways. So I said it “I’m not mad or anything and I don’t mind you telling me to get to work and I like working as hard as I can. But I prefer not to be compared to my mom.” He looked at me like I was fucking crazy. Starts getting all pissed off about it. I don’t remember exactly what he said because I was doing my best to just dissociate because I didn’t want to start crying because he would’ve really flipped then, but he wasn’t super mad just yet. We are just abt to get done working and he just stops and fucking stares at me while I’m tossing the wood towards the truck to put it in. So I ask him (without showing any sense of attitude and as nicely as possible) “do you want me to just carry it and load it into the truck”. You think he was reasoblar? Fuck no. He flipped. He was like “you can do whatever you want but I can tell you are so trying to be as difficult as possible.” So I start trying to de escalate the situation. And he wants all the fucking smoke. Keep in mind I never argue back to him because if I did idk what he would say. Then he starts guilt tripping me and telling me abt how much he gives to me and how he has absolutely no time to do anything he wants (maybe stop being a Facebook addict?) and then he tells me and I quote “idk where the fuck you think you’re coming from saying that” and he’s trying to make me feel crazy and honestly that’s why I’m making this post because I don’t know if I’m in the wrong. But he continues the guilt trip and makes sure to remind me that my mother will always be on my mind. And then he hits me with this “so who’s in the right and who’s in the wrong?” BRO FUCK YOU WHAT DO YOU THINK??? So I just reply “you, you’re in the right” because I just wanted it to end. He stars de escalating but is still being mean as fuck. Then he starts giving me his dog shit life advic. And was acting like nothing was wrong, even making jokes. Then he starts telling me how I shouldn’t be listening to deftones because their message isn’t whole (he was playing heretic anthem last night????? 666, that’s whole? But eventually he seems to just forget abt all he had just said and was acting all nice again. He was also saying I was insulting him when he was most heated. I am so fucking sick of it. I can feel my mental slipping and tbh, recently I’ve kind of developed an ideation for sui. And it almost feel like whateve fucking bipolar he has is rubbing off on me. Just so fucking sick of it. Am I crazy? Is he really in the right? What should I do?

FFS: Update Cylinder Head?
Jokingly made a post about my MIL illuminating, even joked it’s probably the cylinder head. Am I dealing with the dreaded M260 DE LA engine valve seat- cylinder head failure? MBworld is concluding I might be. There were/are no signs, no smoke, no limp mode, no rough idle. The A35 has 33,670 Miles on it. Please excuse the cheap ass scanner, as it’s all I had access to. Ignoring that - any insight would be greatly appreciated. Googling it is like googling medical symptoms and WebMD telling you you’re dying, or maybe you just have a headache. Upvotes for visibility would be helpful. Thank you! 🙏🏼
