Beautiful lil’ green
Tidewater, Virginia - near Hampton Roads River
First time posting. I both wanted to share and identify this beautiful green creature, whom I’ve named Houdini. Stayed on the garage door for a bit and then poof disappeared. Hopefully, they made their way someplace safe.
I sincerely hope the image is clear enough.

2024.06.01 14:32 Trevor9210 A call to urban foresters! What tree to plant here?

Hi friends. I am planning to remove the pavers from this patio in my yard so that I can plant a tree here. I was hoping to get some input on species selection.
The patio is a 4'x4' square. The center of the square is 7' from my house, 5' from the property line, and 9' from the garage. My house is 3 stories tall, and the garage is about 1.5 stories.
Other trees in the area are a Canadian Yew (~30 ft tall) 10 ft away, Japanese Maple (~15 ft tall) 20 ft away, a large Hackberry (~45ft tall) 35 ft away.
I am also planning to plant a midstory tree such as a Dogwood or Redbud in a nearby garden bed about 15ft away between the Yew and Maple. I am also considering planting an Emerald Sunshine Elm sapling I have instead, but leaning heavily towards dogwood.
I'm in a dense relatively urban area outside of New York City, and getting machinery into my yard is challenging if possible at all. I want to choose the best tree for this location so that I can have a beautiful large tree to appreciate when I am old, and that my grandchildren can enjoy in 100 years.
I have a few options for this tree. In order of personal preference there are:
  1. American Beech (from Arbor day foundation)
  2. Black Walnut (grown from local seed)[also concerns about juglone and my garden but I have a large raised bed garden too]
  3. White Oak (Grown from local seed)
  4. Red Oak (grown from local seed)
  5. Hackberry(from Arbor day foundation)
  6. Tuliptree (from Arbor day foundation)
  7. Southern magnolia (from Arbor day foundation)
Any advice on a good long term tree for this space, and how to most effectively maintain it for longevity and safety would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

2024.06.01 08:46 Additional_Phase_675 FlutterHabit Lash Review

FlutterHabit Lash Review
Okay, maybe they existed before 2018, but it took me a bit to catch up!
Over time, magnetic lashes just didn't give me the same longevity as my eyelash extensions. Despite my resolve to never go back, I found myself missing them. I contemplated returning to lash extensions but couldn't justify the time, money, commitment, or potential damage to my natural lashes. My previous extensions had wreaked havoc on my natural lashes, taking years to recover.
One of my amazing followers tagged me in a FlutterHabit post, raving about the product. As a last resort before booking an appointment, I decided to give them a try!

What are FlutterHabit Lashes?

Meet your newest lash obsession. These luxe faux mink lash sections are designed to mimic professional lash extensions while maintaining the convenience and affordability of drugstore strip lashes.
Professional makeup artists have long known the struggle with heavy and cumbersome strip lashes. To innovate, pros started cutting up lash strips into sections and placing them underneath the natural lashes, achieving a seamless and naturally lifted eye look. FlutterHabit Lashes bring this decades-old beauty hack to everyone. With results that last up to five days, all from the comfort of your home, it's the perfect alternative to professional lash extensions.

My Experience

I had been teasing on my stories about falsies that changed my life. Shortly after, several companies reached out to collaborate on a strip lash of my own. While creating my own lash line was tempting, the truth was, I had already found my perfect lashes with FlutterHabit. Simply put, FlutterHabit cannot be replicated.
Since discovering FlutterHabit in 2019, I haven't been without them. This product has had a significant impact on my life, saving me time and money while still making me feel my best!
Later that year, after getting to know the amazing owners, I had the opportunity to buy into FlutterHabit! I was ecstatic to become partners with Tim and Kasey, the sweetest couple who built their idea in a spare bedroom and garage. From one small-business owner to another, I knew this opportunity was perfect.

  • Lightweight and Comfortable: Mimic the look of professional lash extensions without the heaviness.

Final Thoughts

FlutterHabit Lashes have become a staple in my beauty routine. They offer the look of professional extensions with the ease and affordability of strip lashes. If you're tired of the hassle and expense of lash extensions, give FlutterHabit a try. Trust me, you won't look back!

2024.06.01 06:26 expatagain5 Light flirting and skinship leads to my load down my Korean coworker's throat

So I posted this story before under my previous account, but reposting now by request of some of my lovely little Korean snacks.
So it all started when my wife and I (32) moved to Seoul. Very quickly I noticed just how drop dead beautiful the average Korean woman was. I had never really been into Asians previously, but now living in Seoul I was absolutely obsessed with them! I worked at an elementary English school (학원) and quickly discovered I was the only male there. I would take peeks at coworkers in skirts and dresses and would enjoy the views of young Korean teachers in tights bending over and hanging things up. Then S came.
S was an older married Korean woman, maybe in her 40s. She was pretty good looking for her age (it is Seoul afterall) and had the tiniest frame. Tanned, tight, flirty, and desperate as all hell. She would constantly engage with me, try touching my arms and legs, try wiping my face, and would always pry into my married life. While my marriage was and is very happy albeit basically sexless, she didn't need to know that, so I tried to avoid it.
Then one day we're the only two in the teacher office. We're making small talk from our chairs when suddenly I spill a bit of coffee on my slacks. In a split second, S is on her knees with a tissue wiping my slacks right on my inner thigh. I got hard instantly, and she must have seen the bulge. I quickly ended the moment and we went on with the day. But I knew what I had at my fingertips.
After that, I started returning the attention. We'd chat more, I'd rub her arm or back as I passed in the tight office space. I'd touch her hands and hold for just a little too long when handing her things. Soon we started talking outside of work. One evening while my wife was out working, we were chatting and she figured out that I didn't get certain attention from my wife. She admitted that she found me attractive and I admitted the same. She said it drove her wild whenever I touched her. So I started telling her how I could touch her more at work and no one would know. She told me the idea made her wet.
Following that, I started making a deliberate effort to sneak touches of her ass and thighs as I passed by, started tracing my fingers along her arm or leg if we were huddled close together at a table, and (my favorite) make sure my cock was hard and at an upward angle in my slacks so I could glide it along her ass, up one cheek, down her crack, and back up the other side if we ever squeezed past each other in the comically small staff kitchen. Needless to say all of this got both of us wanting more, so I figured out where there were no cameras in the building. I told her that the stairwell of our office building had blindspots in several places and we set a date to meet.
On the appointed day, I made my way down to the B2 parking stairwell, one of two spots in the whole building with no cctv (it's Korea lol). I told my wife that I had to stay late for reports, which was common enough, plus she was working late again. A few minutes later, the door from the parking garage opens up and in walks S. We walk up to the landing with no cameras. She asked if we could kiss. We began to passionately kiss each other as my hands wandered to her ass and began to squeeze as we kissed. She moaned softly. I began to kiss at her neck. More moaning. One of my hands wandered down to her crotch and began to rub her. She moaned even louder. I asked her how long it had been and she moaned out, "Too long." My hand lifted and then pushed down again down her pants and panties. I could feel her silky bush and wet pussy. I started to rub her out. She fondled my crotch a bit but kept getting worried as we could hear the doors and people walking on other floors. She said maybe we should stop, what if we get caught.
These worries passed as I lifted up her shirt and pushed her black bra away to reveal her beautiful little chest. She apologized for how small they were. I responded with my lips all over them as she moaned even more. Her tan lines were on full display as was her incredibly tight and slim frame. We heard more noise and she pulled away. She started to adjust herself, saying we should stop because she didn't want to make a mess or get caught. I was throbbing at this point and she could see it. A moment of silence and she's looking down at my bulge. Without hesitation she begins caressing it through my slacks. "You can touch it," I say. As if she were waiting for that command, she unbuckled my belt and pulls my pants and underwear down. Out springs my throbbing and precum dripping cock. She whispers, "Oh my god," and instantly plunges it down her throat. My wife does not deepthroat me and refuses to do so still. S had me down to my balls in her throat. The feeling and image are forever seared into my head. I can't help but gently pump as she sucks. I see she shows no sign of discomfort. I quicken the thrusts. She braces her hands on my thighs and keeps taking it. I begin to pound her throat. She gags and drools but doesn't stop. I wish I lasted longer but I was and remain woefully out of practice. I cum down her throat. She holds me down. Once I'm done, she finishes sucking and pops back up, wipes her lips, and smiles. "See? No mess."
We said it was one time. It wasn't. We met multiple times after that for oral and masturbating. Still looking for a proper time to fuck in a motel. I've since moved schools and have pursued other coworkers in a similar way, though S and I still meet up looking for that time to fuck. Hopefully someday soon!

2024.06.01 05:18 Desertgirl624 Nervous seller in Phoenix

Not sure if there are any Phoenix agents in this sub but hoping someone can help give me some insight. We are needing to relocate and just put our house on the market yesteady. It’s a beautiful house only 2-years old in a nice neighborhood with fully paid off solar panels. We priced it in line with the market in our area, but also wanted to give some room to go down if needed. I thought sure we would get some showin requests for the weekend but hav not gotten anything. We had one today and apparently the didn’t like the garage despite it being massive, so can’t change that. But I’m nervous because we close on our new house at the end of July and really want to avoid double payments. I also don’t want to drop my price too far bec I already probably won’t break even on my investment because we are having to move sooner than planned. should I be worried to not have more action yet?

2024.06.01 03:15 BJPHS My final Seoul shopping notes (and a few snaps).

My final Seoul shopping notes (and a few snaps).
tl;dr Great shopping in Yongsan, but if you don't have time to hunt around just head to the 4th floor of the ETLAND building.
==Part 1==
Took the metro to Yongsan and immediately sensed the gritty old-school industrial vibe. So NOT like the lush, green Naksan Park we were in earlier in the morning or the bleeding edge tech of Gangnam.
First stop was 'Video Game Alley' at 2-21 Hangangno 3(sam)-ga. Holy shit, this place was run-down and depressing. From the faded old awning at the front to the dust-covered CRTs scattered throughout, everything about it felt neglected. Once the home for up to 20 independent game, console and accessories vendors, there were just three open when we visited. The rest were either covered in tarpaulins and/or dirt. Most of the arcade was blocked-off and in darkness.
It is definitely worth checking out if you were a retro collector as it doesn't look like some of the prices had changed in decades and stock levels are good and prices pretty fair IMHO - especially on handhelds (eg ₩49,000 for a boxed GBA felt like a steal)
As for Switch, it was mostly used games (with horribly faded spines), junk accessories and used consoles. Prices were average-to-high for what was on offer. I walked away empty-handed.
==Part 2==
gameMOL (1-3 Hangangno 3(sam)-ga) was superb. Spotlessly clean, beautifully laid-out (incl game covers facing out) and stock from floor to ceiling. Switch prices were pretty much standard retail, except for the discounted copy of Guardian Tales which I grabbed at ₩42,000.
The manager (owner?) was very welcoming and super-helpful. He recognised that I couldn't read most of the spines so he told me, game by game, which ones had English support. I felt terrible that there was only one that I needed.
This place is worth a visit.
==Part 3==
My next stop was inside the ETLAND complex (at 74 Cheongpa-ro). On the fourth floor you'll find a dozen independent shops sharing a large space called Game Galleria (게임 갤러리아).
If you visit only one video gaming retail place in Seoul, THIS IS IT.
All of the shop owners were friendly, welcoming and helpful...even when my Korean language skills were utterly appalling. Huge variety of items - both new and used - and there's genuinely something for everybody here.
Although I don't collect retro anymore, GWORLD STORE had my mouth watering. Every system from around the world, even pre-8bit like the Vectrex and Intellivision. So many boxed Sega Saturn consoles, Megadrives, MSX, Famicom, Playstations etc. They were all wrapped in plastic ready for new homes. It was like being in Akiba, Tokyo or Denden Town, Osaka 15+ years ago before foreigners started stripping the shelves.
Heaps of Switch games, consoles and accessories (incl the largest number of brand new Amiibos I've seen under a single roof....at least 150). Pricing is pretty sharp and the shops seemed keen to do deals.
On the same floor as Game Galleria are some other awesome places including an airsoft shop and shooting range; a VR studio; drone flying practice range; and a LEGO builders' garage. So cool.
==Part 4==
I managed to discover the best shop in Game Galelleria last. I just wanted to hug the owner of Shop A-18 'Highland Games' (하이랜드). She was so awesome helping me browse through her mammoth range of Switch stock (including v SteelBooks and CEs) and pointing out titles with English on the card.
The amount of stuff in her store – mostly new, current gen consoles, accessories and games – was mind boggling. I could have spent HOURS in there.
I purchased just one game, the collector's edition of the new ShinChan title "Albino of the Coal Mining Village".
About 15mins after we left the shop and were heading for the elevators back to ground level, she came chasing after me with an armful of posters, promotional giftbags etc. What an absolute legend.

Help figuring out an old loom I was given?
Hello there! I'm new to the sun and while I've worked with a lap loom some before, I was just given a floor loom that has me stumped. It has the remnant of a sticker on one of the shafts, but not enough to tell any words, let alone something as useful as a brand of model. I've included pictures below since I'm still trying to figure out the names of all the parts, but I know I'm at least missing a shuttle. It also seems to have a good amount of warp yarn on one end, and the remnants of an old project on the other. (I do a lot of crochet work, so I can at least say that the warp thread that's there is a 1 weight, and it has the consistency of kitchen twine). Any advice on where to start learning more about this beauty? (Also it is temporarily in the garage while we figure out how to get it into the house, we will likely have to disassemble and reassemble it due to door size.)
Thank you for any and all help!

2024.06.01 02:22 Sea_Stranger_9508 Jin did something wrong

Jin wakes up with the glare of the sun piercing through the curtains, he turns to hug his girlfriend illy but she is not there. Jin seems upset and remembers she is probably mad due to the fight they had last night. He slowly gets out of bed placing his feet on the ground and lets out a big sigh as he puts his head in his hands and tries to remember what he did to make lilly upset. He makes his way to the bathroom, brushes his teeth and wash his face.
Lilly is in the kitchen prepping her breakfast. She sits down at the table as she stares at her bowl of oats. She stares at the chair in front of her as a tear rollsl down her face. Jins walking into the kitchen and sits down in the chair illy is staring at jin sits with his hands in his pocket as he looks down. Jin looks up and stares at illy with soft eyes and says to himself how beautiful she is. They both lock eyes and illy begins to tear up even more and cries for 2 seconds then stops herself. She rubs her eyes and mutters to herself
“I told you i told you, why didn't you listen Jin"
Jins looks at her and says ‘ what did you tell me’ . Illy ignores him and walks to the sink to place her bowl of untouched oats. Illy puts her coat on and says to herself as she leaves ‘ i'm gonna be late for work’. Jin follows her to the doors and asks what did you tell me. Illy still ignores him and closes the door in his face.
Jin punches the door and turns his back to it and slides down it and puts his head in his hands saying ‘wtf did i do wrong i can't actually remember’ he starts pacing up and down the halls trying to remember what happened, jin gets frustrated and decided to go for a ride on his motorcycle. Jin finds his way to the garage only to notice his bike wasn't there. Jin was confused . on the workstation was his helmet. He muttered to himself ‘ wtf why is my bike not here but my helmet is. He walked over to his helmet and sees that it was badly smashed and his visor was cracked and half there.
Jin looks at where his bike use to be and says ‘ illy was right i should have listened to her’

2024.06.01 01:09 charliebrooks7 Help! 1850's Books

Help! 1850's Books
I was given this box of books on the promise they would be loved. The oldest dates 1850, many date 1856, there is a 1905 and the youngest among them dates 1920. Many have the name of the owner beautifully hand written inside, and a few even have dedications. Many have binding and spines intact, just as many have lost their binding completely or are just about to fall apart. I've never even held a book this old before. My first step was to arrange them into upright positions, I've heard that is better for their spines, but not even sure that applies at this point. What should I do to care for these books? Anything that can be done for the musty smell? Thoughts? As I held one standing at the garage sale where they were piled up, there was an overwhelming feeling that spoke in a gentle voice: "please, take my books, don't let them be thrown away"

2024.06.01 00:18 EintrachtAdler Best $45k fun ICE car to ride off into the sunset with as the EV takeover comes

TL;DR:
Current Cars:
Past Cars:
Location:
Price Range:
Must Haves:
Nice to Haves:
Note: in my pros/cons, I will often mention a cars depreciation rate. I know all cars depreciate. I know all cars lose value. I know no car is a good investment. Nonetheless, I still like to fully understand and evaluate a cars true cost to own over its lifetime. Think, if two cars were equal, but one depreciated half as slowly for whatever reason, that would be the natural one to pick, so it is something I consider and place some weight on.
Background:
After my Subaru BRZ, I was in between fun cars for a bit and just drove my Forester. I had picked up my Z4 because I had I always wanted a convertible and love it, but that car is sadly not a daily. Partly because it would be nice to keep it lower miles, but also because it beats you up driving with the stiffer suspension and is nothing special when driving in town without curves. When it comes to road trips, going skiing or hauling stuff, it's not the most practical. Thus, I identified the need and desire to find a fun, comfortable, sporty daily driver. My friend had a Giulia and I always loved driving it and his has been nothing but rock solid. I found a great deal on a new 2024 Giulia for $43.5k ($57k MSRP) and snagged it. Well, over the 3 months of ownership, it spent about 60% of that time in the shop. I ended up getting them to buy it back. I don't view Alfa's as inherently unreliable like a lot of people parrot. I think I was just unlucky and got a lemon, but they are still great cars. I still absolutely love the brand and think no car drives as well as an Alfa, but it did make me realize I value dealership access quite highly and I should make that a priority. There is no Alfa dealer in my home state of Montana, where I hope to return in a few years with the closest 8 hours away, which makes me apprehensive about choosing that as my car to be my last ICE with EVs taking over. Also, just how bad Alfa depreciation is spooked me a bit. When I wasn't sure if they would buy it back, I was curuous what I could sell it for once fixed and the fact that the car had depreciated $25k from MSRP in 3 months gave me pause. Yes, all cars depreciate heavily, and Alfa more than other, but that is more like it's 3 year depreciation amount, not 3 months. Some things about Alfa also frustrated me. Just the sense that the platform has changed little since the 2015 debut barring and infotainment update in 2020 and new headlights and digital dash (with so little customization or actually useful info) in 2024. Also, the turbo lag it still has and just no improvements in its overall drivetrain tech is annoying. This was just some stuff I've realized as I've reopned my car search. Like I said, I still love Alfa, and as Alfa owners know, the heart will always say Alfa and the brain will say anything else, but I still want to see what else is good at that price point.

2024.05.31 23:39 Taggerino Trip Report: May 2024, 14 Day ring road on a "budget"

Just came back home from an amazing two week trip with a friend, and thought I’d share my experiences while the memory is still very fresh. I found a lot of useful information on this subreddit while preparing for this trip, so I hope this will help some of you as well. We tried to make it a budget trip, which may sound kinda weird as it is an expensive country after all. But we cut costs by sleeping at campsites, cooking our own food instead of eating out and preferring to hike over paid excursions as much as possible.
We rented a Dacia Duster which had the back seats removed so we could sleep in the back. It’s a bit cramped and the first few days it’s a bit of a hassle to move your bags to the front seats when you want to sleep, but eventually you get the hang of it and it's no big deal anymore. You can probably also opt for a minivan for a little bit more space, but to be honest I think you still need to deal with your bags in that case either way.
Our usual day planning was as follows: we got up early (around 7:00-7:30) and left the campsite by 8:00 at latest. This way you beat the crowds at your first destination of the day. And most often you will also beat them at the next destinations, as the touring buses also follow a specific set of activities. We would usually arrive at the next campsite around 16:00. At this time it’s usually still quiet, so no queues at the kitchen (if available) and showers, so we got that all done before everyone else arrived. Then spend the evening reading; sleep early and repeat.
For the food: an easy option for breakfast and lunch is to just buy whole grain bread and some spreads which do not need to be refrigerated (jam, peanut butter, hazelnut chocolate spread). Another cheap option is the “Oat Burst” instant porridge cups which only cost like 1€ at Bónus and only require boiling water. For dinner we usually used either rice or pasta with some canned vegetables (beans, peas, corn) and a jar of sauce (curry madras, tikka masala, chopped tomatoes, asian sweet/sour, and the likes).
To give an indication, we spend the following on the trip:
For a total of ~2025€ per person. We drove a total of 2846 kilometers during the trip.
We made an itinerary beforehand, which we could follow for like 95%. I will share it here together with my experiences. Of course we also had a lot of random stops during the trip, but I will only talk about the highlights here. Afterwards I will end with some useful tips.
Day 1: we arrived at the airport around 16:00. After getting our rental car we did some groceries at Bónus and drove straight to Þingvellir Campsite. Showers and toilets were modern and very well maintained by the park rangers. No kitchen available. Campsite is also pretty big, so we had a quiet corner without any other campers nearby.
Day 2: we first went to Þingvellir, which was only like a five minute drive. Keep in mind the speed limit within the park is 50, even though it looks like a 70/90 road. We parked at P2, which is free before 9:00 (otherwise 800 ISK or so). We walked to the viewpoint and also to the Öxarárfoss. Then we drove to Kerið, paid 500 ISK entry fee per person and walked around the rim and lake. At first I wasn’t too sure it would be worth the price, but we had beautiful sunny weather which made the water color really stand out. Next up was Strokkur, which surprisingly didn’t have paid parking. We saw it erupt quite a few times, which takes around 5-10 minutes; can recommend trying to get a burst shot in with your camera. Lastly we went to Gullfoss. It was starting to get windy, so we got pretty wet by the spray, but it also allowed us to snap some beautiful rainbows. We then ate the lamb soup at the nearby cafe, which was delicious although a bit salty for my personal taste. Our campsite for the night was Hellishólar. Didn’t like this one so much. It was the most expensive one during our trip and the facilities were rather poor. No kitchen and the showers were so cramped that we didn’t even bother to use them.
Day 3: the next day we went to Seljalandsfoss (and Gljufrabui). Road 250 is unpaved, so another option is to drive back to Hvolsvöllur and take the ring road instead. There was a parking fee of 1000 ISK. It was really nice to walk behind the waterfall although you will get wet. To get to Gljufrabui you literally need to walk through the water (and some step stones), so having decent hiking shoes is highly recommended. Because we were early we were almost alone, so we could snap some really nice pictures. Next up was Skógafoss. We went up the stairs, which takes quite the effort I can tell. At this point a storm started to hit the island (orange alert), so it was getting pretty windy. Afterwards we went to Sólheimajökull, which also had a parking fee of 1000 ISK. We needed to walk about 1km, but we had crazy headwinds due to the storm so it took a while. The glacier was pretty far away from the viewpoint, but still nice to see it considering they unfortunately won’t be around forever. Then we arrived at Dyrhólaey. The road to the top viewpoint was closed due to the extreme winds. We could barely see the arch in the rocks anymore because the sea was going so crazy. We originally also had a plan to go to Reynisfjara, but we had to skip it due to the weather conditions getting too bad. We snapped some pictures at Eldhraun and then went to the campsite Kirkjubær II. It had a nice common room kitchen with some tables. You had to pay an extra 300 ISK for a shower though. It was timed to 3 minutes, you couldn’t change the temperature and you also couldn’t pause the water, so you had to hurry up.
Day 4: the wind was gone, but it was still rainy. First we backtracked a little bit to Fjaðrárgljúfur, which had one of the best views during our entire trip! Also paid parking of 1000 ISK here, and the amount of parking spots is quite limited. We then went to Svartifoss which was another 1000 ISK parking fee. The hike is about 2.5km, which may not seem much, but the path is pretty steep up a hill, so requires quite some effort. Afterwards we went to Jökulsárlón. Another 1000 ISK parking fee here, but if you park at Svartifoss the same day you get a 50% discount. Saw some beautiful blue ice in the water and some seals. We couldn’t see the glacier due to fog. We also walked under the bridge towards the beach to spot some ice crystals. We camped at Höfn. The common room was quite nice and warm. The outdoor facilities were still closed though, which resulted in only one shower being available for like 40 campers. So there was a long queue and we didn’t bother. I believe you also had to pay extra for it here.
Day 5: a day mainly dedicated to driving, and the sun finally returned! Close to the campsite was Stokksnes. They charge you 1000 ISK per person to enter a small area to view the Vesturhorn. I was really doubting whether a couple pictures would be worth about 15€. But luckily nature helped me decide, as the mountain was covered in clouds when we arrived at the gate, so we just left. We drove along the coast and then onto road 939, which is an unpaved mountain pass with snow beside the road! Was a really nice and relaxing drive. We then went to Hengifoss. Another hike onto a steep hill. The waterfall might not be as impressive as others, and the red rock bands aren’t that clearly visible like in most oversaturated pictures online, but I still really liked this hike. The west trail was closed for maintenance, but to be honest the eastern trail looked better anyway. The final part you have to jump over the river a few times, so try to not get wet! The campsite for today was at Egilsstaðir. It had a nice big kitchen with couches. The showers were disgusting though. The floor was sticky and there was some brown mold all over the walls.
Day 6: we drove to Hafnarhólmi at Borgarfjörður eystri to watch puffins. Quite a remote drive over a mountain. We arrived around 10:00 and there were literally hundreds of puffins. Some were less than one meter from the walkway, allowing you to make close ups even with your phone. I still recommend a camera with optical zoom and/or binoculars though. Next up was Stuðlagil canyon. Seeing a picture of this was the reason to book this trip. Don’t go to the viewpoint on the west side. Judging from its location I don’t think you can see much there and you can’t enter the canyon. Drive over the bridge and drive along east to reach a parking lot. From this point it’s like half an hour of hiking, but the path is almost flat so it’s really easy. The walkway into the canyon itself was pretty muddy, so for that I would recommend hiking boots. We camped at Fjalladyrd, a remote farm with some buildings like a church and turf houses. The campsite wasn’t really open yet, so facilities were limited. The kitchen had no running water yet, so to get water we had to walk like 100m over a field exposed to wind. Also the kitchen and toilets were not heated, which made it a bit of a miserable experience at some moments.
Day 7: we went to Dettifoss, westside by road 862. Apparently there is also a spot on the east, but I don’t think the views would be much better there, and that road is unpaved I heard. Was a fun hike through snow. Also don’t forget the small detour to Selfoss. Next we went to Krafla. Unfortunately the lake was still frozen when we arrived, so there wasn’t much to see of the blue color. Close to it was Námafjall, where they charged a ridiculous 1200 ISK to park, but I am still glad we did it though. Boiling mud pools, sulfur smokers, mars-like landscape, the smell… it’s just something you won’t find in a lot of places on earth. So do yourself a favor and don’t miss out even though the admission fee is high. We then went to Mývatn Nature Baths and spent a good 2.5 hours there. Still pricey, but cheaper than Blue Lagoon and less tourists, hence why we had chosen this one. We didn’t book in advance. To enter the baths you have to change and shower nude in public. Personally I don’t care, but I know some people do, hence why I mention it. We planned to camp at Mývatn Bjorg, but the campsite was still closed. So we ended up at the nearby Mývatn Vogar. It had a nice big kitchen with lots of tables. The hot water smells like sulfur though. There were also a lot of insects on the campsite, so if you had the car door open for just a couple of seconds there would be tons of bugs inside…
Day 8: near the campsite we had a short stop at Grjótagjá, which is a cave with nice blue water. The water is really hot, so be careful to not fall in! We then hiked at Dimmuborgir. You can take multiple routes, but by all means do not miss out on the blue track, as it’s the most interesting one. On the signs it was listed as challenging, taking 1.5-2 hours, but we finished it in like 40 minutes while also taking a lot of stops for photos, so I’m not sure what’s up with that. We then hiked to Hverfjall. Tip: do not take the southern slope like we did. It rises 145m over 600m on pebbles, and it was just a miserable experience. We hiked for about 12km; if you don’t want to hike as much you can move your car to the volcano instead. We camped at Mánárbakki campsite and all I can say is that this guy is a hero. When we arrived he noted that one of our front tyres was in very poor condition and probably wouldn’t last another 50km. We were allowed to park the car in his shed and borrow tools (impact wrench, car jack, air compressor) to easily swap the tyre. Beautiful view on the sea and also by far the cleanest and best equipped kitchen during our trip.
Day 9: we had a 3 hour whale watching trip in Húsavík with Gentle Giants. We booked it before leaving for Iceland. We were really lucky with the weather: blue sky and almost 20°C. Spotted three humpback whales, one of which would surface every 20 seconds instead of the usual 5 minutes, so that was really nice. On the way back we also saw some white-beaked dolphins. With your ticket you also get discounts at various stores in the town. We then went to Goðafoss, which was right next to the road (also nice for once). Most tour buses parked to the east of it, but we were at the west and to be honest I think that is a much better view. We camped at Hofsós, a bit of a detour, but at least it was more quiet than the other campsites. Clean facilities. The shower drain was too slow and would flood the room if you showered for too long.
Day 10: next up was the Glaumbær museum. We weren’t sure it was worth the entry fee (2000 ISK per person) at first as it looked rather small, but we still did visit it anyway. I’m glad we did, because the interior was way bigger than I anticipated and I really liked it. Then something we didn’t plan: we stopped to eat lunch and stumbled upon Þrístapar. At this site the last death penalty in Iceland was executed. There was some pathway with storyboards to read and I thought it was rather interesting. Next we went to Hvítserkur, and all I can say is: please, don’t. Road 711/717 is an unpaved mess with potholes and washboard texture which you have to drive for 20km (and back). And when you arrive at the rock viewpoint it is some tiny rock really far away. Not worth the effort in my opinion. We also had a short stop at Kolugljúfur, where you can take some nice pictures of a canyon. We then drove to Reykhólar campsite to prepare for the fjords. It’s a bit remote and there wasn’t any reception. We couldn’t shower, as I think you normally have to do that at the nearby pool, but it was closed that day. Near the campsite were a lot of different birds, so if you like bird watching this is definitely a place you should check out.
Day 11: a lot of driving this day, but no problem due to the beautiful views of the fjords. We drove the southern route over road 60. We went to visit Dynjandi. By far the most beautiful waterfall we saw during our trip. Once road 60 goes northbound there’s road constructions. I think they are trying to make the waterfall more accessible with a new road. But be prepared to drive 30km of unpaved road full of potholes while also dodging construction workers. Next we checked out Garðar BA 64 for some cool pictures. We camped at Melanes campsite. It was just so remote and peaceful. We walked over the Rauðisandur beach in the evening. Beautiful brown/black sand patterns made by the wind. We tried to spot seals during low tide, but unfortunately didn’t see any.
Day 12: we drove back to Brjánslækur and took the ferry at 12:00. We booked the day before, and I’m glad we did because it was pretty much full. We checked out Kirkjufell, but it was covered in clouds so it was not that interesting. We parked at the viewpoint to the east, which is free. The closer parking is paid, but I don’t think that is worth it, unless you also want to see the nearby small waterfall (we didn’t bother). We camped at Ólafsvík, which had a rather small but nicely maintained kitchen and shower. You couldn’t change the temperature and had to keep pressing to keep it going, but it was alright.
Day 13: first we visited Saxhóll, which was a fun short stop, but at this point I already saw so many beautiful things that I thought this was a bit meh. Next up was Djúpalónssandur, which is a nice black pebble beach, which has a beautiful sound when the waves retract. There was also some stone lifting sailor game, which can be rather fun if you are with a group. We then parked our car at the Hellnar viewpoint and walked along the coast to see birds, and also to see the Gatklettur stone arch. If you don’t want to hike you can also park your car closer at Arnarstapi instead. Finally we went to Ytri-Tunga to watch some more seals. You had to pay 750 ISK to park for “road maintenance”, but the road to the parking had the most potholes per m² of our whole trip… The seals were pretty far away, but we still managed to shoot some nice pictures, including a cute baby seal. We camped at Akranes, which didn’t really have a kitchen, but we did read books at the washing machines as that room was heated.
Day 14: the final day was for Reykjavík. In the morning it was raining, so we visited Perlan first. A bit pricey, but the ice cave and northern light show was pretty cool. Spent about 2.5 hours there. We then dropped the car off at the Stjörnuport Parking Garage, which is only like 100 ISK per hour. Went into the city to visit the Hallgrimskirkja and to walk around the main streets. At this point the volcano near Grindavik got active again, so we hit the road and parked near the highway exit at Grindavik (Memorial board B-24). The lava was pretty far away, but you could see it bursting out with the naked eye and also managed to snap some pictures. Definitely an experience of a lifetime and a nice finale. We then stayed at the Vogar campsite, as we had a really early flight the next day, so we just chose it because it was close to the airport. Didn’t use any of the facilities.
And before I finish, I’d like to share some tips for your trip:

Bought a 19 Year Old Broken Bike… Best Decision Ever
Decided to pull the trigger on a 2005 GSXR 600 a local guy was selling. Bike would start when jumped but would die, decided he didn’t have the time to work on it and sold to me for $2,500 in AZ (great deal for out here). Got it to my apartment garage and used a little Amazon toolkit to diagnose the issue, turned out to be a fried rectifier plug. Replaced that and bought a new rectifier from a supply shop all for about $100. Did the soldering work myself and have a perfectly running bike. Absolutely in love with it and enjoy it even more knowing I got a good deal, and that I know about every inch of the bike now that I’ve torn it down. “Nothing worth having comes easy”.
First photo is when I first got it running with broken fairings, second photo was when the new plastics came in, third photo is how it currently sits with its Nardo Grey fairings with no decals. I personally love the clean look, and I’m glad I could bring such a beautiful bike back to the glory it deserves.

My mint BRG Miata took me to work today, never thought I'd actually get this car
This beauty has quite a story to it. A few years back I found quite a deal, a family was clearing out space and the older father had three datsun roadsters and half a barn full of parts that they were just giving away. I obviously was interested, but the logistics of a three hour drive one way and moving and storing all that stuff was a bit too much of a task, and they wanted it all gone quickly and wouldn't part out anything. While going through all the stuff I noticed a lot of Miata parts, and asked if they were planning to swap the roadsters or what, turns out they were far more into Miatas then the old roadsters stuffed into a barn, and said they might be ready to let go of those too. I said can I take a look and when he opened up the garage I fell in love. This absolutely mint BRG was sitting there, 80,000 miles and specd beautifully with 15in BBS wheels. They said it hadn't moved in a few years and don't know what to do with it. I threw a battery in it and it fired up like it was driven last week. Took it on a little test drive and besides the flat spotted tires and typical lifter noise it was great. We agreed on a price I absolutely couldn't believe, and I went back home to make arrangements. Sadly when I inquired about coming back up to get the Miata, the communication broke down. They were focused on clearing out the barn and the Miata would come later, and my rush to get it upset them enough to raise the price to something I couldn't afford. I figured, well they must have another buyer and realized the value of such a nice example and I will never get this car. Fast forward to recently, and I had just sold my last NA, and this car popped into my head again. I figured it couldn't hurt to call them up again and see if they knew who bought it or if it was still available. Turns out, it was left exactly how I parked it those years prior and nothing had changed, we agreed on a number very close to our original deal and I should probably get a move on to come pick it up as the older mans health wasn't going to be getting better. I got a trailer, drove the three hours again and just like before, put a battery in it and loaded it up with a whole truck load of parts to go with it. Definitely had some complications with the ORIGINAL title from new and NC's law on getting a notary involved, but it's now registered to it's second owner and I couldn't be happier. The car itself also has a story, as it was the old man's bought new in 91, but he gave it to his son who raced it in autox and sadly passed away about a decade ago, which is why this car has sat so long. Definitely brought out some emotions but they are pleased to see it go to someone who loves these cars as much as they do. This has become a novel, but thanks for reading my Miata love story. Maybe in the future I can snag the other car I saw stuffed in the garage that day, a very nice lava orange Mazdaspeed with all the bells and whistles. After a few hours of changing fluids, tires, and fixing the broken Jackson racing intake and I felt it was ready for its maiden voyage, taking me to work on a beautiful Friday. Once I get it fully cleaned up, it'll head to some car shows and Miatas at the Gap!

In the market for a user-friendly and affordable welding option for your home projects? The HITBOX MIG Welder 110V 200A Flux Core Welder might be just what you need! This reviewer, initially unsure about the budget-friendly price tag, was pleasantly surprised by the HITBOX MIG Welder's performance.
They used it to MIG weld 3/16" spring perches to a rear differential, and were impressed with the machine's ease of use and the quality of the welds. Unlike some welders, this HITBOX MIG Welder 110V 200A Flux Core Welder doesn't require constant adjustments to the wire speed. Instead, you simply set the amperage based on the metal thickness you're working with and you're ready to weld. In the reviewer's case, they set the machine to 188 amps and plugged it directly into a standard wall outlet in their garage. It welded beautifully on both sides of the brackets, without tripping the circuit breaker.
The reviewer acknowledges that their weld wasn't perfect cosmetically, but emphasizes that it's a strong and secure weld that will hold up over time. They conclude by recommending the HITBOX MIG Welder 110V 200A Flux Core Welder for hobbyists or occasional welders. If you plan on welding frequently or working with thicker materials, a higher duty cycle welder might be a better fit for your needs.

02: ASSETS / DEBT
assets:
  • 401k + ROTH IRA + HSA: ~$114,650
    • I have maxed my Roth IRA and 401k since about 2020. My employer match vests immediately, but one of our bonuses also go here, and about $24k of that bonus total won’t vest for a couple of years.
  • Brokerage account: ~$99,100

  • Credit card debt: $3,644 right now (woof). I pay it off every month.
  • Student loan debt: $0 now, $27k originally for a bachelors in graphic design. I focused on paying it off asap after graduation.

  • When I have an extra paycheck because of a 3rd Friday, it goes to the HYSA (funding travel slush fund). I follow a zero-dollar based approach and don’t budget for an average monthly amount.
  • One of my favorite parts of work is bonuses– we get quarterly and bi-annual bonuses. I receive about $35,000 total in bonuses total throughout the year. Of that, about $10k is deposited directly to my bank account in the middle and again in the beginning of the year.
Side gig: Anywhere from $50 to $400 monthly depending on how much I focus on this. It's nice I can just make some extra cash if I want to.

5a: TRIP OUTLINE
Day 1 — East coast → SF → Yosemite Day 2 — Hiking Half Dome! Day 3 — Driving Yosemite → Big Sur → Carmel-by-the-Sea Day 4 — Driving up the Coastal HWY to San Francisco Day 5 — Wandering San Francisco Twin peaks, Christmas point, Golden Gate Day 6 — Wandering San Francisco Chinatown, Railcar, Saluhall, Japantown, movies, flying home Day 7 — Arriving home

5b: TRAVEL DIARY
1 — Wed, 5/22 — ✈️ Flying into SFO, driving to Yosemite :)
3am – My flight is at 6:20am, so I get up and start to get everything ready. Most of it is prepped from last night– I just have to pack a box of strawberries, get dressed, and head out. I have time for 10 minutes in front of my red light therapy lamp so I do that and use the time to meditate. My boyfriend let me use his Lyft account to save 20% on my ride and it comes out to $40. I venmo'd him when we scheduled it last night for 4am, and my ride is outside early so we go.
9am – Plane lands! Flight went super smooth, I spent some of it reading a HBR book and some of it sleeping. I had a middle seat. The flight attendant dropped off 3 fruit bars and i'm so happy to snack.
10am – Take public transit (load $20 into the Clipper app) to make it to my Turo car rental, but I get there early so decide to go do a little grocery shopping for my hike tomorrow. I find a little grocery and buy canned beans, kale lentil soup, cotton candy grapes, 2 power bars, 2 apples, green almonds (!!), and shower gel ($35.59).
12pm – I can finally pick up my car! I got a Black Mini Cooper <33 which has been my dream car for like almost a decade. I knew driving would be a BIG part of this trip and so I wanted it to be fun. I got a convertible because I wanted full view of the seascape, forests, etc while I drove through. I also thought it would be a good way to test it out before committing to actually purchasing one in the future. I get it, pickup is smooth, and I start driving to Yosemite.
2pm – Make a quick stop at CVS to get... a USB charger because the car takes USB-A and I only have USB-C. I bought something else but I honestly have no idea what it was, just that the total ended up being $50 somehow : I keep driving snacking on the grapes and make another stop at Alta Masa memorial park to visit Steve Jobs resting place who is like a 33% of my hypothetical dream dinner guest list.
7pm – After a long, winding, and kind of scary road, I finally get to my little glam tent. It's so cute and cozy. It was a 5-hour drive total but it wasn't so bad. I finish eating the kale lentil soup and then fall asleep pretty quickly excited for my day tomorrow. Tomorrow has to go perfectly because it's the only day I'll be able to hike Half Dome without a permit.
2 — Thurs, 5/23 — 🪨 Hiking Half Dome
3:30am – Get up and get everything ready: harness, rope, carabiners, gloves, sunscreen, apples, almonds, and power bars. I decide to leave my credit card and license behind because "I won't need it" (I needed it). I leave by 4am planning to get there by 5:30am, but I'm running low on gas and try to stop at a few gas stations but they're closed and don't take Apple pay. I'm a little anxious because I know I'll keep going uphill and gas efficiency is low. I decide I'll be fine because the way back will be downhill.
6am – I make it to Curry Village, fill up my water, and find an Information Station and ask the person there a few questions and walk out with two maps. I make my way towards the trail and start on John Muir by 6:30am.
12pm – Yay! Finally made it through John Muir and sub dome. I'm exhausted and I ate one of my power bars and most of my almonds on the way here and kept promising myself I'd eat one of my apples while looking at Half Dome. So I do that and take like an hour break just chilling taking in the view. I meet a mom and daughter on the way up and they're so sweet, and a man that says he hikes to the cables all the time and that he likes to run back down sub dome. wtf.
1pm – I've made it up the cables and I'm on the dome!! I'm kind of thirsty with not a ton of water left, so I eat some of the snow on the dome— It's so delicious and rewarding and beautiful to eat this snow. It feels so special and nice to eat it. idk.
6pm – I make it all the way down to Curry Village and I'm somehow not very hungry but a big meal still sounds like the move. They have pretty good vegan options. I get rice and beans and vegan ceviche with chips. Everything totals ($16). I drive back to my tent but stop at a gas station for gas (it's open! they take apple pay inside) ($44.12) plus Oreos and Maria cookies ($1.78). I'm back home by 8pm and fall asleep pretty much right away. Dreading a cold night shower... I don't shower :(
3 — Fri, 5/24 — 🌊 Big Sur and Carmel-by-the-Sea
9am – I shower (finally) and am pleasantly surprised the shower has warm water. There are cows all around the tent and they're SO CUTE. I pack everything up while I take a vlog recounting the hike yesterday (an interesting development in my Aging Anxiety<3 as I'm nearing 30 is this mild phobia of forgetting experiences and so I find myself recording every little thing recently..... the video vlogs just feel like a nice way to capture this, right now, though). Anyways– Goodbye, Yosemite! I vow to come back because I'm realizing now that just 1 day in Yosemite is bananas. I'm on the road by 10am en route to Monterrey/the coast.
12pm – This is the worst drive of my life. Google maps decided to put me through farm country and I see SO many dairy farms and by the 6th one I'm like, sobbing in my car. It's so cruel and sad that this is the entire life of these beautiful beings. One of the farms had like a thousand cows rounded up in squalor. Ugh. Having the freedom and agency to see the beautiful waterfall and mountains in Yosemite, and knowing I can live my life like I want to, it's especially hard seeing these cows not have that available to them. They were born to be bred and used like machines. They don't get paid. Then they're slaughtered. I cycle in this mental loop for a long time and work to mentally move past this because I can't actually go back there and, like, take the cows with me.
3pm – I've finally gotten to the coast and the ocean is so beautiful. The coast, the rocks, everything is so breathtaking and I feel so lucky to be here. I send pictures to my boyfriend and we joke like "no but why is my MacBook open" because the landscape looks exactly like screensavers lol. I see a woman holding up her dog to see Big Sur. It's so sweet. I'm hungry so eat the faba beans right out of the can because scrappiness and when I'm done I see the label says "Best by 07/2022". uhhh. I keep driving up/down the coast and stopping at a bunch of scenic points, etc. I stop at the beach and eat a piece of seaweed that's growing on a rock. It's really good and I'm sad we don't have more seaweed varieties at like, mainstream grocery stores. There's this giant flat field right next to the coast and somehow, it's just full of roaming cows. They're sooo cute and so lucky to have this view and that this is their home! <3 I later find the property on Zillow for 5.5 million. So cool.
6pm – I make it out to Carmel and walk around but it's not as cool as I wanted it to be. It's very commercial. There's an Anthropologie and a Bottega Veneta. Meh. I stop at a little grocery Nielsen Bros Market and get extremely fancy dried apricots for $21 and a little pouch of mango mochi for $6. I look at restaurants on Google maps and it sends me to an Israeli restaurant that ends up being terrible and so overpriced. I get a cup of lentil soup and zaatar with pita and it comes out to $30 thx to a large tip just because the service was so good. I keep walking around for a while and leave at around 9pm.
10pm – I get to my dome in Watsonville– it was such a nightmare to drive up to! The driveway was extremely steep, long, narrow, and bumpy—Just extremely scary to drive up with a tiny car. I was supposed to stay here two nights but decide I can't do it again and message the hosts that I need to cancel tomorrow and get a refund. They are cool with it and send me a refund ($240) and I extend my stay in SF by one night (53.93) (both already subtracted from reservation totals). I'm glad because honestly I'm ready to spend more time in SF vs. out by the coast / Watsonville. I go to sleep happy. The dome is cute.
4 — Sat, 5/25 — 🌲🍌 Big Basin Redwoods Park + Pacific Coast Highway
10am – Shower, pack everything, and I'm out by 10am. Driving down the nightmare driveway is way more manageable in the daytime! I decide to drive back to the coast and to SF through Big Basin Park which was on my list. On the way there, I stop at a little town and get snacks: corn nuts, sesame bars, a box of strawberries, chocolate, and a bottle of almond milk cold brew ($21.74). I also get gas ($48.60). While driving with the top down, eating a giant super juicy strawberry, the lyrics of this one remix of Smashing Pumpkins I love comes on and "greatest day of my lifeeee" feels so right and so good in this moment. The freedom I feel right now is amazing. I love my life and everything I've worked on to achieve it <333
12pm – Make it to Big Basin Redwoods Park and parking is $10. The 2020 fires seem to have brought down so many trees, but Redwoods are apparently super resilientent and a bunch of them are coming back even though they look like total charcoal. I walk a few of the trails but many of the paths are closed off, unfortunately. It's still beautiful. There are so many banana slugs everywhere (native!!) and they're so bright yellow and so super cute. On my way out I ask the park ranger how to get to the coast and she gives me a map and great directions for a long scenic route. cool.
2pm – The drive was indeed so awesome, and I make it to the coast! I stumble upon Pebble Beach and holy shit, it's indescribable. Nature is insane. That is all. I hop around a couple of the sand formations, so overwhelmed by the joy inside me and the surroundings so much larger, older, and more powerful than I. Ugh.
7pm - I keep driving up and down the coast and finally as the sun is starting to set I decide eating a sandwich watching the sunset is exactly what I want. Yet, finding a vegan sandwich is impossible, I guess. So I go to a Nepali restaurant and get daal and aloo & bhanta. I park and wait for a looooong time in the car until I go inside to check and they've had it ready for like 15 minutes. Time is precious! The sun sets fast when you don't plan ahead! It comes out to $27.71. By 8:15pm I'm sitting on a bench in Half Moon Beach watching the sun set, shivering in the cold pacific wind lol and eating my daal + aloo bhanta combo. It was much more romantic in my head. I pack up and chill in my car for a bit and I'm driving again by 9pm.
10:30pm – Get to San Francisco, find public parking trying to avoid a $60 overnight garage, and hope for the best given i've heard there's an approx. 89% chance your car will get broken into overnight. I check into my hostel in Chinatown and !!!! it's theee beeeessttt! I love this place. Check-in is smooth and the entire place is so clean. I shower and get ready for bed. 3 other girls are sleeping in our room, but thanks to noise cancelling AirPods I don't notice anything disruptions or anything.
5 — Sun, 5/26 — 👟🌁 Urban Hike through a few San Francisco Tourist Spots
9am – I get up and decide I need to do laundry– get cash from an ATM ($8 fee) and buy a laundry pod for $1. The laundry machines cost $7 total. Looking back, this was insane—I spent $16 on laundry. I could've just washed by hand. While the washer and dryer run, I come downstairs for free breakfast in the commons. I have 2 bananas and a bagel with PB&J, plus orange juice. I leave around 11am to return my car—it's fine and all the windows are there! I stop to fill up on gas again before turning it in ($16). Since I'm near the grocery store that sold me the expired beans, I go back and ask for a refund. They're going insane over me asking for a refund for $1.79 beans, and I'm going insane over them selling me beans that expired two years ago. They finally realize I'm insufferable and just give me the refund (-$3.18). I text my boyfriend about them being mad I wanted a refund and he also sends me a refund (-$2).
12pm – I still need to figure out how to structure the rest of my day so I stop at Starbucks for a Pink Drink and try to plan the rest of it ($6.25). I decide to do an urban hike starting at Twin Peaks and going up north from there towards the Academy of Sciences park/area/etc. I take the bus and it drops me off kind of near Twin Peaks / Christmas Tree Point and I hike up and look at the city. I get a snack from a truck stand—Mexican pinwheel chips with chili on top ($6). These people are making a killing selling these. They're pretty good but I'm kind of just whelmed by the view. It's a city, and yes civilization is impressive. I just think nature gets to me more. I pick up some trash while I walk but I'm also consistently struck by how trash-free SF is! Even when it's so windy!
2pm – I keep walking and make it to the Golden Gate Park area trying to find lunch. Hopefully a sandwich!! I want to just hold something in my hand and eat it with a view. smh. I go to The Loving Hut which is just this vegan kind of culty place with posters on the wall about how da Vinci was vegetarian, etc. I get a burger ($20.94) because that's the most sandwich thing I can get, and walk to Golden Gate Park and eat it overlooking the fountain. Very unfulfilling. Not quite a sandwich, not really a view.
8pm – I keep walking through a few of the trails right before the bridge and make it up to the Golden Gate Bridge in time for sunset. By this time it's pretty cold and starting to get dark quickly so I kind just want to get to the hostel. I take the bus back and it's the wrong one lol so it kind of takes me forever. I'm home by 10pm, shower, and go to bed.
6 — Mon, 5/27 — 👟🗺 More urban hike??? Chinatown, Japantown, wandering San Francisco??
11am – I finally get up, pack everything and leave my bag at the front desk. I came down too late for breakfast so I just leave. I walk around Chinatown and see a cable car so I hop on it. It charges $8 (prepaid via Clipper). It takes me down to Market Street near a few spots I wanted to check out so it's perfect. I walk towards Saluhall by IKEA and get a sub-okay chickpea curry bowl ($22.21) and a strawberry ice cream cone with hazelnut powder ($5.36)—It's soooo pretty. I keep walking around and I'm cold so I buy a sweater ($10, but this is going towards my normal clothing budget) and a jacket ($40 from Ross, but not counting it because I returned it when I got back home). I stop at the VC Morris Gift Shop which is a building designed by Frank L W.
2pm – Keep walking, get a snickerdoodle from Jane The Bakery ($5.55), and make it to Japantown. I kind of go crazy and get my boyfriend a bunch of little gifts from Japan Center—A pack of mushroom cat figurines and some cat manga ($56) and finally win two flower cats from a claw machine at Kiddleton ($27). I feel super guilty now because he's super frugal and also feels guilty receiving gifts so I kind of regret getting all this, but I really missed him and I think this was my way to cope? I also get a small journal and pen to record the trip from Maido Stationary ($8.36).
6pm – Walk to Alamo Square and look at the Painted Ladies for a bit while I talk to my mom on the phone. This is such a nice spot for people watching. I wish I had a sandwich in my hand to eat with this view. I still have 3 hours before I have to leave for my flight, so I go see Babes at Alamo Drafthouse for the 6:40pm show ($17.61). It's fun and Ilana Glazer is so lovable and funny. Seeing a movie on a trip is the best.
8pm – I make it back to my hostel to get my bag and head to the airport. Checkin isn't going well and the checkin screen keeps saying I need someone for assistance. I'm paranoid I'm past the checkin window or something... and, well, it turns out I was. When I talk to one of the attendants, he informs me my flight was actually for yesterday, Sunday 5/26. Shocked, dismayed, in complete disbelief, I ask, "How am I going to get home??????" lmao. He then tells me the good news, which is that ***the same flight***!!! is happening again tonight, same route, and that I can just board that one. He doesn't charge me anything. I'm so beside myself and grateful. I text my boyfriend, "I'm a silly silly goose. A very lucky one".
7 — Tue, 5/28 — ✈️ Flight home
1am – Finally board the plane, buy wifi for $10 so I can log into work, get a pack of trail mix for $12, and get a Lyft home the next day for $34.
9:30am – I sleep most of the way home wake up but wake up in a panic that the workday started and I'm offline. But it's fine, I get back to messages on my phone, and it all works out okay.
11am – I get home and am so happy to be back and to see my boyfriend <3 I realize I left one of my AirPods in the Lyft, and the driver says he didn't find it. It'll cost me $89 to replace it unfortunately, so I start planning to make money via my side gig to cover that loss. :)

7. CONTEXT, FUNDING THIS TRIP
How did you save up for this trip and for how long? Did you accumulate credit card debt for taking this vacation? I started planning this trip in January when my year-end bonus hit my account. I funded my Roth IRA and put the rest in my travel sinking fund / used it to buy the plane tickets. I also had an "extra" paycheck in March that I put towards my travel sinking fund. After this trip, I have $1,942 left in my travel sinking fund.
I didn't take on credit beyond what I know I can cashflow.

Considering 2019 Audi Q3 30 TFSI with 9K on odo
Just coming out of test driving a beautiful Q3 with the parameters mentioned above. Offer price is 30 lakh.
Questions to the wonderful car aficionados on this forum.
  1. At 30 lakh, is this a good purchase? I may have room to bargain for a lakh or so, not more.
  2. The low odo had me a bit surprised but apparently rich people of west Delhi buy and let cars marinate in their garage. Any comments there?
  3. I wrote the chassis number and registration plate number. What detective skills I need to put on?
  4. The car is not under insurance currently. Is that a red flag?
  5. What else should I be thinking of?
  6. Also since it’s a pre 2020 Q3, there’s no CarPlay and your highness here can’t drive 5 km without google maps. What are my best options with stock panel? I don’t want to go for Karol Bagh mods right from the start.
Thank you good people! Kind of a 2nd hand car buying noob here, so all help will be appreciated in dua.

Tips for Staying in Bentley Hotel
I cannot recommend the Bentley. The service is horrible and the management does nothing to correct the problem. Not even a "sorry." Don’t depend on them The views from the rooms vary enormously. Know what you want to see (bridge, water, streets). Great location on the upper east side. They offer Fiji water in the rooms. I love that about this hotel. Don't expect to get the view you paid for, this hotel is extremely damaged and the staff knows
