Stress Damage Clarification for Adversaries

2024.05.17 09:20 Admirable_Bus_1102 Stress Damage Clarification for Adversaries

To clarify we have done a lot of random low level to high level fights and in conclusion "stress damage" is overpowered by far. Now I am also new and am still learning so I want to make sure I am running this accurately. When stress is filled to the max and you add additional stress you mark Hp for each additional stress applied.
Scenario: Boss has 4 stress 8 hp, Bard uses Troublemaker and increases stress by 4 (assuming they roll 4) which has happened so far in our games every time (luck i know) he uses 2 more actions and does the exact same number dealing 8 points of damage and killing the boss. Ignoring threshold entirely.
Assuming I did not misread that and I applied it all correctly this is beyond broken and I would like to hear everyone suggestions on how I could improve this and not make it so easy for them. (the players brought this one up)

In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, Flutter app development has emerged as a game-changer, offering a plethora of benefits that streamline the app development process and drive success. Let’s delve into the key advantages that Flutter brings to the table.
  1. High Productivity: Flutter’s hot reload feature allows developers to see real-time changes in the code instantly, without the need for a full app restart. This boosts productivity by enabling rapid iteration, quicker bug fixes, and seamless feature additions, ultimately saving time and resources.
  2. Efficient Development Process: With Flutter, developers can write code once and deploy it across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, and the web. This eliminates the need to maintain separate codebases, streamlining the development process and ensuring consistency across platforms.
  3. Faster Time to Market: Time is of the essence in app development, and Flutter helps businesses get their apps to market faster. Its extensive library of pre-built widgets and customizable components enables rapid prototyping and deployment, while its cross-platform capabilities accelerate the development cycle.
  4. High Performance: Flutter’s foundation on the Dart programming language ensures high performance, with compiled code running directly on the device’s native hardware. This results in smooth animations, fast rendering, and consistent performance across different devices and platforms.
  5. Open Source and Engaged Community: Flutter’s open-source nature fosters collaboration and innovation, with a vibrant community of developers contributing to its growth. Developers have access to a wealth of resources, documentation, and community support, making it easier to troubleshoot issues and stay updated with the latest developments.
In conclusion, Flutter app development offers a myriad of benefits that empower businesses to create robust, high-performing applications efficiently. 2024.05.17 09:16 Marcxworld Can jax kill himself already??

So, I was watching the amazing digital circus since I wanted to see what all the fuss was about after all this time. I'm watching it and faintly remembering all the gay art of this guy jax, where every piece is of him being gay and I'm wondering: "this jax guy must be a real rizzler, a manler, if you will, if he can make so many gay men fantasize about him like that". And I'm under the impression that he's at least likeable, but when this man comes onto my pixels all I feel is disdain, I didn't like that pink character cuz she was a downer, but jax is just a straight asshole. Like, seriously what's his problem why doesn't caine kill him like he did that green crocodile (still don't know his name btw) since all jax does is make everyone's lives miserable. I get it, you're stuck in this digital realm for maybe eternity, but at least make your peers stuck with you have a decent time! Like do you have to be so pissy about everything? "Oh I didn't get to hurt someone, woe is me!" Ok buddy. And why are the characters not giving him the same energy? I want to see pomni brutally beat up jax as part of an adventure. Infact this is the story:
Caine says some dumb adventure like going into some cave that's infected with radioactive aids or something, and bubble is like "oh, I must've left those there" or something dumb that he would say and then the characters go there and jac Is just being an asshole as usual like he's being all stupid and then when jax throws someone under the buss pomni loses it, I'm talking full on ytp caillou type stuff and she grits her teeth and exclamation marks pop off of jax's head and then pomni pounces on him and starts furiously ripping him apart like Travis the chimp when u takea photo, I'm talking full on MAULED! know what, have more moments where that pink triangle head character grips his throat, since these characters can still feel pain y'know, so that'd be cool. Anyway yeah that's about it

2024.05.17 09:14 NulloftheAbyss Characters that I deeply respect.

Characters that I deeply respect.
Endou Mamoru/Mark Evans: Endou has a highly admirable spirit and sense of resolve, down from the first episode of the anime up until his latest appearances, he never gives up no matter what the challenge ahead of him awaits, always motivating those around him and being a strong voice of support and motivation. Whenever you're down, doubting yourself, feeling as if you don't have this, Endou will be right there to pull you back up on your feet. He has strong charisma, everyone he's ever met has been influenced by this soccer freak one way or another, he has faith and belief in everyone, he wants the best out of everyone. Endou holds a spirit that I wish to have, he's the type of person I'd like to have around in my life, somebody that I wish I could be or even just meet one day.
Gouenji Shuuya/Axel Blaze: At one point when I was still fresh to this series, I sometimes would try to be 'different', I remember that I saw people saying this guy was overrated and all, I ended up finding myself trying to shy away from popular opinion and told myself he was ok, despite me always liking the guy. But, fortunately, I've grown out of this because Gouenji is incredible. Yes, he's a cool character and is an awesome player, but he's also an incredible brother. The moment you see his backstory and his reasoning for quitting soccer, you know right off the bat he'd do anything for Yuuka/Julia. He was going about it the wrong way, but he stopped playing soccer because he cared and loved her, what had happened to her due to him playing it traumatized him and he didn't want this to happen again. Then he later on realizes that she wouldn't want this, her becoming one of his main motivations to keep on playing. Gouenji then even stops when seeing that her life was in danger during S2, but he arises back stronger than even later on and his efforts were rewarded with her being in safe hands. Gouenji is a cool character and player, but he's just as good as a big brother as he is those.
Kidou Yuuto/Jude Sharp: Another character who's an amazing big brother. His whole life he spent it protecting Haruna/Celia and wanting to be there for her. From fighting off bullies to being motivated to win consecutively when they were separated just so they could be reunited. He cares so deeply for his sister and did a lot for her, the guy even plays the LITERAL DEVIL in Season 3 when she's kidnapped just so she wouldn't be used as a sacrifice, he lead a team to play ACTUAL DEMONS because he wasn't going to let them do anything horrible to his sister. That is an incredible sense of familial love and bond, you mess with his sister, you mess with the Genius Playmaker.
Tsunami Jousuke/Hurley Kane: He's a big brother of many without being of blood relation. I've always loved this character, from his design, to his thematics in hissatsu, interactions and even how he joined the team in S2, but one of his strongest traits to me is how much of a big brother he is to Tachimukai/Darren. Tsunami has such a lovable and fun personality, he's somebody that I'd really love to be around in real life, as well as a person I'd like to be in my life as well. Caring for others, always just being himself, fun to be around while having such a free yet kind spirit, never worrying about much, all things I want to be. And his interactions with Tachimukai is one of my favorites in the series, from S2 to S3 he's always had his back, always motivating him and helping him out, giving him his shoulder to lean on and helping him keep confident, Tsunami Jousuke is a role model.
Tsurugi Yuuichi/Vladimir Blade: My last character of the brotherly trope I seem to have going on. Yuuichi was a character I was fond of in GO1, even though he was there primarily to show what Kyousuke's motives were, I liked him on his own as a character. When he confronted his younger brother about how he was working off the Fifth Sector, angry at him for betraying the soccer they loved and making him humble himself, it was one of my favorite moments in GO1. Chrono Stone later on made me love the character more, even if it wasn't the Yuuichi we had previously saw. Not only did we get to see the guy play with the others AND pull out a Keshin (Along with Armed), he went out in a touching way. Yuuichi knew he was going to fade out of existence from this, but given that this was a timeline where his injures didn't happen, him and his brother had the opportunity to go play soccer abroad until their father says he could only afford it for one of them, making Kyousuke 'give up' soccer for his sake. Yuuichi wanted to give soccer back to Kyousuke, even if it meant that he no longer would exist, he met his end smiling, being happy as long as it meant that his brother kicked a ball again.
Kakuma Keita/Chester Horse Jr: Kakuma is such an icon, the reason for why he's here is quite simple, his undying passion. No matter where Raimon went, who they played or what their situation was (Excluding the second half of the FF), he was ALWAYS there to commentate their matches and was their hype man. Kakuma is quite literally gives off ride or die energy to me and I love it, he commentated their matches when they were fighting off aliens, followed them around when they travelled around different regions of Japan. Hell, he was even there for matches for Inazuma Japan that happened within school grounds which were the selection match and Inazuma Japan vs Neo Japan. Even during graduation he did one last commentation. He wasn't a player, but Kakuma was part of the team and will always be a member in my eyes.
Tachimukai Yuuki/Darren LaChance: My third (Yes, my third, he isn't my first believe it or not, lol) favorite character in the entire franchise, a character who I always had a soft spot for and see great potential in. I respect and love Tachimukai because of his journey as a goalkeeper and a person. Going from this fan of the legendary Endou who mimicked what he did to becoming his own man and stepping out of his shadow, unveiling his own unique hissatsu with the help of friends who wanted to see the best out of HIS ability. Tachimukai has had moments where his confidence in himself was weakening, something I can identify with as I lose my confidence countless of times and can get overwhelmed when things don't go too good. But, no matter how many times he's been knocked down, he has people to help him get up and his resolve further strengthens. His growth in S2 was beautiful to me, becoming one of the strongest keepers in the season and being as good as his idol, while he didn't do much in S3, he stepped out of Endou's shadow, being hit the realization that he can't keep doing what he sees his inspiration do and has to go his own path eventually.
Fidio Aldena/Paolo Bianchi: The number one of all characters for me in Inazuma Eleven. Fidio, for me, had one of the best arcs in the franchise, I've said it numerous times but Inazuma Japan vs Orpheus is my favorite match of all time and is where I really began to favor Fidio due to it and the Mr. K arc in general. Seeing him grow interested in the man's hatred for soccer despite being so good at it, then after Nakata gave him the answer as to why, even though this was the same man who directly tried to sabotage his team prior, he trusted his commands and became motivated to complete Catenaccio Counter. This caused distrust from his own team and they wouldn't even listen to him during their match, but his resolve was enough to not only get them to gain their trust back, but to also revive the hissatsu tactic, bringing back Kageyama Tougo's plays from the ashes. He made Kageyama see the light with his resolve and trust in him, even getting his team to completely trust him and had Nakata call him a reliable leader. Fidio even had a cool rivalry with Kidou and even had similarities to him, both played soccer due to it reminding them of their fathers and even played similarly to the point that Kidou was needed to counter Catenaccio Counter. I respect Fidio similarly to why I respect Endou, his great influence and resolve that can change people, even those who are in the lowest of the darkness.
Amemiya Taiyou/Sol Daystar: Unfortunately, this character nowadays is treated like a joke due to his handling in Chrono Stone, while I do feel that it was lackluster compared to other characters, it does not take away from having incredible of a character he was in GO1, some of my reasoning for respect will even apply to CS as well. Taiyou had an illness that refrained him from playing soccer how he wanted, despite being said to be a genius that comes every decade, he was practically bounded away from the field. But, Taiyou never let that stop him, no matter what everyone around him told him, no matter how much they tried to get him to give up on his dream, he still wanted to play soccer and would keep motivated to make that happen. Not only did he have an amazing match with Raimon thanks to his resolve, but he continued to play to save soccer in Chrono Stone. Even in Orion, a younger him helped Nosaka/Heath not lose hope in being able to play soccer despite being told that he couldn't due to his brain surgery, being in a similar situation to him, he rekindled the resolve back into him. Taiyou is admirable because he refused to give up on his dream and desires despite having a limitation, I really love that about him.
Matatagi Hayato/Falco Flashman: Lastly, we got our speedy falcon, Matatagi. This one may be a bit of a surprise compared to the others given what I said about them, but he's just relatable to me. Matatagi had a bad time trusting people due to how others treated him as a kid, the others kids not being interested for who he was and only what he had, then he took the blame for indirect trouble that his younger brothers caused, making people lose trust in him in return. While my trust issues aren't as strong as his, I don't have much trust in many people as well, I'm wary of others out there because that's just how this world is and I've had times in my life where I was betrayed or regretted trusting somebody. Matatagi never opened up to anybody on the team, not even considering them his teammates and was hiding his true self from them all, another aspect of him I can relate to because I keep a lot of myself concealed in real life most of the time, most of it is due to shyness and lack of socialness, but also thanks to me not always feeling like I can be who I am around people. Matatagi had such a nice character arc, Tenma/Arion bringing out the real Matatagi and showing genuine desire to befriend the real him was touching, it also made me like Tenma more as a character in turn. Seeing him now just being who he is without trying to satisfy everyone is something that I just want to do one day, consistently.

What lens should I buy?
Hello, I recently got the sony a6700, amazing camera. I currently only have the sigma 16mm f1.4 and want something wider. I used to shoot with the canon m50 mark 1. I had a 11-16mm lens on it that I used the most, I usually shot at 11mm (I will attach an image below). I want to buy a lens for the 6700 that will produce the same type of image, I know there are some calculations involved w apsc sensor where a 16mm is like a 20mm or smt like that, so I'm just confused as to what lens will give me what I want. Right now I'm looking at the 7artisan 7.5mm or the 10mm. I don't know what to pick. Please let me know what lens would help me achieve the type of shot below. Thank you for your time.

2024.05.17 09:05 egregious555 That RIDICULOUS survey

RANTING
What a scam!! It's over 45 minutes long for the average person from what I can tell. No reward for all that time. Why are they giving rewards for downloaded their new game and not this? Atleast you get something downloading the new game (enjoyment). I was sure they would give something for it.
I don't even want to play after doing that and regret not quitting at the 3 minute mark.
I feel so cheated and the time I usual use at the end of the day for hayday was wasted. Now I'm off to bed without my regular relaxation.
I know I'm being dramatic but I had a long day and wanted a new decoration or something :(

2024.05.17 08:57 spaceyleira A tribute to an unsung legend

Maybe I needed this for my own closure.
A few days ago, BJJ in Malaysia lost a legend of a black belt. I don’t expect a large audience here to know who he is, but all you need to know he was the first few in the country to receive his black belt.
Five years ago, he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer which later worsened to stage 4. He was a loving father, lawyer, coach, teammate and a friend. This was a man who embodies pure grit and strength. I don’t know anyone who could go all these cycles of intensive treatments and chemos, fight in court, watch over your children and still make it on the mats to coach us.
I remembered his first round of chemo, he was off the mats for month and when he came back he had this entire syllabus planned for the gym. The studies hours on hours. He always said BJJ kept him going through this very difficult time. He never sugarcoated his honest feedback with us, he was blunt as can be — but all you need to know is that he cares and he believed in you even when you’ve given up on yourself.
He would teach class after his chemo sessions, and even when he lost his voice, he came to the mats with a microphone set — despite being broken and tired to give us nothing less than the best quality of classes. He had love for the sport and us.
Rest in strength, Tjun. The team is very lucky to have the chance to come across a person like you — people like you are truly one in a million.
When the team competes this Saturday, we will fight in your honour as you look down cornering us. And we will celebrate your life after as we send you off.

2024.05.17 08:55 GamingHearts1 Is Mickey Mouse Still a Video Game Attraction?

Is Mickey Mouse Still a Video Game Attraction?
https://preview.redd.it/0cozfkokpx0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ba11093d5e5eac636d559bca86c041c7c60195b
Mickey Mouse is one of the biggest names in television history as it relates to cartoons or animated media in general. Mickey Mouse has been around since the 1930’s and is the first thing that many people around the world instantly think about when it comes down to Disney. It seems like Mickey Mouse was more popular during the 20th century especially around the 1950’s opposed to the 21st century mainly because he was considered a fresh creation 70 years ago opposed to now. Also, when it came down to video games it seems like Mickey Mouse has more popular during the 90’s with games such as: Castle of Illusion and the Disney’s Magical Quest series from ’92-’95. During the 2000’s Mickey Mouse had seemingly become irrelevant mainly because casuals mainly teenagers and adults had were more interested in adult-themed video games within action-adventure or first-person shooter genre of gaming.
However, despite his declining popularity Mickey Mouse stayed somewhat relevant in the video game scene during 2000’s by appearing in the Kingdom Hearts series. By the time the 2010’s decade came around Mickey Mouse still remained irrelevant for the most part maybe with the exception of Epic Mickey title. While Epic Mickey was somewhat underrated Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two from 2010 ended up being a commercial failure. Disney Illusion Island which came out back in July 2023 ended up being a solid platform game which was unfortunately overshadowed by so many high profile video game releases from that year. Mickey Mouse is obviously recognized by just about anyone and everyone who is familiar with gaming or television but he is clearly not as popular as he once was. The landscape of gaming has changed drastically since the 90’s when 2D platformers dominated scene and unfortunately Mickey Mouse could not compete with the likes of Super Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of popularity.

2024.05.17 08:52 fran217 Arrowverse Rewatch

How many times did you rewatch before you got through the whole universe, all 699 episodes over 6 shows? Or what is the furthest you've gotten in each series?
I'm on my third attempt for the whole universe, can never get through the first part of Supergirl, and have only ever finished Arow. And I've only see 2 episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, 6 seasons of the Flash and none of black lightning, and batwoman.
I have ADHD brain and I feel like the universe gets too complex to follow 😭😂

2024.05.17 08:51 Relative_Law_1331 Request for free coaching on Ashe. Hardstuck silver/gold

Hi!
I'm looking for someone that can spare some time for free to help me improve my Ashe (and perhaps cass and sombra) gameplay. I have been as high as diamond in one previous season in OW1. I am currently Plat 5 support mainly using Ana and Illari (a bit of Bap and moira here and there). As DPS, I was hardstuck Silver 2 for a month, and finally was able to climb a bit to Gold 4, feel like I'm already getting hardstuck here again.
I feel that whenever I get put into a "pressure" game (aka loser queue), I can't get a win. Can't help but feel like a victim of the infamous forced 50/50. Whenever I win 2 or 3 in a row, it feels like you are punished with a bad team because the game wants you to be the carry. I thought this was an urban legend, but Blizz pretty much confirmed it with the May 14 patch.
I HAVE done my homework (I'd enjoy a conversation about my knowledge of the game so you can assess my level of understanding), but feel there's something that needs expert advice. Here's what I've improved on :
Here's what I feel I need to work on:
There's even been games where i get 40 - 50 kills, 15k damage, 5 - 6 deaths and still lose. In these cases, my logic tells me the fault is somewhere else, but im sure its me.
I know that there's the concept of VOD reviews, but I feel that I can get the most out of a live session where someone spectates my gameplay and gives me feedback on the fly. Let me know if you can spare some time to view my gameplay and give me some pointers. I would greatly appreciate it!
You can contact me thru DM here on reddit, reply to this post, or discord me at elkioscotv.

Struggling with education. Currently in college and it is NOT going well.
23 F, got into a college two years ago for a subject I was genuinely interested in, but due to a major life event, I am emotionally devastated feeling burnt out. Since, I'm in a creative field, its getting harder for me to have ideas. I am also bad at communication, due to social anxiety and can't express myself well enough. My marks are dropping drastically. Neither do I understand, nor do I know what I am doing. The professors are awful and they continue to be unprofessional and humiliate me. I just keep on losing my interest. I feel like dropping out at times.
I don't have any love life either for years now, I just have a handful of friends, hence no distractions as such. I just overthink a lot. Life is NOT getting better.

2024.05.17 08:44 According_Bed_7335 Pregnancy / 2 consecutive miscarriages

Hi! Question for the mamas here :)
In the past six months, I've unfortunately experienced two miscarriages, typically occurring around the 6-week mark. My OB-GYN suspects Sjogren's syndrome as a potential factor. While the challenge isn't in getting pregnant, it's in maintaining the pregnancy. I'm frustrated because despite mentioning my Sjogren's multiple times, my OB-GYN never discussed medication or risks of heart block. My rheumatologist, who initially gave me the green light for conception a year ago, now recommends starting medication. However, I won't see her for another month, and she hasn't mentioned the need for an eye exam before starting treatment. She's suggesting not trying to conceive until we try Plaquenil, in case of side effects. I wish both doctors had been more proactive earlier. Now, I'm asked to wait again, possibly for a couple of months, before trying again. For those who've taken Plaquenil, did you start before or during pregnancy? From what I've read, it seems safe, so I'm confused why I'm being asked to wait. Thanks!!

2024.05.17 08:44 XZCosmos1 Pre-Nursing Tips V2

Hi all UPN/Pre-Nursing people! I just wanted to write out some tips on how to look best on your NursingCAS applications for your goal starting semester. This is a pretty detailed guide with some good calculations to determine other scores beyond just the basic impaction score. This also provides some resources for your TEAs that I found most useful. This guide is directed towards those applying to SJSU especially those on the Pre-Nursing Track at SJSU.
Don't flop your first semester: It is true that the first semester of college has a learning curve, but it is still important that you stay focused and maintain a high GPA. For many this is the easiest semester, but don't be fooled English 1A or Chem30A/BIOL65 will bite you in the butt last second.
Aim for a high GPA not solely TEAs: As much as people brag about their TEAs scores a GPA at SJSU is much more important! If you have a 4.0 GPA and score lower on your TEAs you will have a way better shot at getting in. Take this for example: a person got 2 A- in 3 unit courses out of the big 8. This makes their cumulative GPA a 3.94 GPA. If this person applied to nursing against a person with a 4.0 this score is then doubled, for impaction. 8 compared to a 7.88. With 2 A-'s you now need to do better than 3.5% of whatever teas score the kid with a 4.0 got. Also keep in mind that SJSU already requires a 84% to even apply leaving a 16% playing field. If you get a 4.0 and a 84% a person with 3.94 needs to get a 87.5% on their teas!
Don't rely on comparing stats to AllNurses: This is a hot take, but hear me out; 60 kids get into SJSUs nursing program and maybe 10 people post their stats on AllNurses. I am throwing no shade saying this, but these are the people that are for the most part going to get in. Some claim to have 4.0 GPAs, 98 TEAs, 2000hrs of Healthcare experience, and co-reqs done too. Obviously they are going to get in but, that spot is now taken from a person bringing it down to 59 others. It is nice to have a comparison to, but unless more people post on it people are going to have skewed to the right opinions. There are tons of applicants and there are different groups of people apply. The overachievers, the average, and the prayers. Most people are average and do not have the crazy stats these people have. There are some people that do post stats that are more relevant to compare to such as a 4.0 with an 88% or something like that. Again this is highballing and it is important to really dig deep into who got accepted when using this platform. A 92% TEAs is what even the pre-nursing advisors and these guys want you to drop the major. Do realize that if you have a lower GPA you will need a higher TEAs. Doing this calculation [20(4-(current GPA))*3] will tell you what you need in comparison to a 4.0 GPA.
The minimum GPA and TEAs: Yes it is true that if you do have a pretty poor GPA (3.3-3.4) and don't have the TEAs to make up for it then it is probably unlikely you will get into the program. But, at this campus the stats are never posted for who gets in and during which semester. Recently SJSU raised their TEAs from a 78% all the way up to a required 84% which to me is crazy high! I assume this is to cut down the amount of applicants and in turn this makes the TEAs pretty irrelevant to the total stats. With only a 16% max gap, now any person who is able to apply to nursing must have at least that score making the GPA that much more important. If you have a 3.9 GPA and a 94 on your teas, a person with a 3.8 will still get outcompeted regardless of TEAs score. This is most likely why the GPA was lowered for nursing and is now a 3.3 instead the previous 3.4 because some kids may have done well in the GPA aspect and messed up their TEAs. Aim for a higher GPA but do realize that a lot of kids do manage to get really good GPAs that correlate with good TEAs scores. Get a good GPA, 3.8 and above is pretty good, a 3.9+ is quality work for both Fall and Spring semesters, and make sure to aim for higher than the TEAs threshold.Nursing advisors deter people from applying but, it is accurate that as of Fall 2024 that you have to be at the top to get in. Keep in mind that there are 500+ applicants and only 60 get in that is only 12% of the applicant pool. You need to aim for the 80th percentile at the minimum to be on the waitlist first round (beating 400 other applicants)
TEAs Test: Now I know I have talked a lot about the importance of the GPA, but regardless you still do want to do well on the TEAs. Your TEAs score, like I talked about above, is directly related to your GPA. If you got a lower GPA you need a high TEAs and if you got a high GPA you can slack on the TEAs score. If you have a low GPA this will make or break the odds of getting in and every 3% on the test you get a .1 point increase. Going against what I think everyone I have ever talked to has said, for me personally I say take the TEAs online, if that is still an option. Not only can you take the test literally whatever day you want, you can also take it at whatever time of that day you selected as long as a proctor is available. Some argue that the they test better when in a school environment and this is valid, but I also test better in those environments and I bombed my first TEAs due to nerves. When I took it online the only stressors were if the test were to crash or the proctor flagged my exam for no reason, but neither of those happened not even close. The low stress of being at home and taking the test when I wanted to allowed for much better results and comfort. You get to finish the sections when you want. If you think you are done and don't want to triple check your answers to save the brainpower for later sections you get that option. Take the test where you think you will test best though and take these words with a grain of salt. I just wanted to say that the TEAs online is the same content as it is in person and at the leisure of your home. Not many people talk about how the TEAs online is positive for some people!
Get the extra points if you can: The extra points are pretty easy to get at SJSU especially as commuters. Of course nobody can make themselves a first generation student, but if you are that is easy free points and congrats. No one has a clue what SJSU gives as a "bump" to an applicants score and it is honestly only there because everyones stats are so similar so they need more tie breakers. Granted, you will most likely want to win the tie breaker and in order to do you have to at least have all the co-reqs done. I want to be straight up and say I think the vast majority of students have these all completed prior to applying for the Fall because you have an extra semester (maybe not Spring idk). So make sure to have these all completed so you are not left behind and waste an attempt in the SJSU applicant pool(unless you have great stats t or have healthcare hrs instead then just apply). You only have 2 attempts at applying to nursing at SJSU so make them count. If you can, there is also the healthcare hours bump. This is a bump isn't achieved by all applicants and could help if you have lower stats. Keep in mind that this usually involves volunteer work once a week for 4hr shifts so you will be wherever you choose to stay for about 6 months (decent time commitment with school). I've heard that the healthcare hrs are pretty lenient about what exactly you did as long as it is part of the healthcare field and you can get it signed. Of course if you already have had a health job within 3 years this is a free point bump too!
Spring semester isn't as easy to get into as it once was: SJSU changed this policy. In 2023 only transfer students can apply for SJSU fall semester cohorts, no longer accepting post-bacs. Whereas spring semester cohorts will accept post-bacs and no longer accept transfer students. This means that Fall semester likely is getting more difficult to get into as all transfer students have to apply for the same cohort. It is believed that the School accepts a bunch of SJSU students and after the initial acceptance everyone on the waitlist is combined meaning more transfers will get in from the waitlist process as they may not have made the original cut with the SJSU students bump. This would also mean there are less opportunities for SJSU students to get in during the spring cohort as they battle against stronger transfer candidates. As for transfers, in Fall there are more opportunities to get in as more are accepted initally and through the waitlist process. For post-bacs the same process is in place but, since the top UPN students (because they were following the exact track) were picked out for Fall stats could be a little lower. Regardless, Fall semester cohorts I would assume have slightly higher impaction scores from all areas that are applying as most students took their time throughout all the courses and UPN program students are all expected to apply for Fall semester. Take this all with a grain of salt since again there are no exact numbers of all that get accepted as transfers and post-bacs and if these numbers have increased because of this change.
Remember your overall GPA prior to applying does matter: Your overall GPA does matter when applying for nursing at SJSU! When it comes to tiebreakers if everything is the same - the gpa, the teas, and the extra points - the school will look at overall GPAs to decide who gets in. So make sure to get good grades in that moral issues class freshman year because it will come back to haunt you if you don't get in because of it.
Don't Break down!: It is easy to read all of this and think that you are screwed, but it is important to remember that many people are in the exact same situation. We are not all getting 4.0s and 92s on our teas like our advisors tell us we need. Expect A-'s and a B+. No stats are published and nobody knows for sure what you need but the advisors say people get "mostly a's". Aim for the highest impaction score that you can get and don't slack on it because literally that is what is determining if you get in or not.
Waitlist: If you get waitlisted it really is not the end of the world. Most schools send out acceptance letters in two waves one at the beginning/mid of April and at the end of April where people accept of decline their schools. SJSU keeps a long waitlist because a lot of people drop the school for more local schools/bigger name schools so never lose hope. I've heard stories of people being #70 on the waitlist and still getting in. (FYI you have to contact someone to check if you were waitlisted you will not get any notice of what is taking so long for your acceptance. only when you are on the waitlist can you contact staff about your placement. Staff will not tell you where you are if you are not emailed by Nursing that you are on the waitlist.)
EXTRA Info:
TEAs Studying TIPs:
Application Assistance:
I know this whole process is stressful and pretty terrifying, but everyone has a chance. This is just what I have learned throughout the whole process and hopefully it will help others that have 0 clue what is going on. Although some of this may make it seem like you need to have crazy high stats I am just trying to say do your best. If SJSU ever posts the stats for accepted applicants this would a be a different story. This is a CSU so unfortunately this application does follow the "a single number means everything" this means your impaction score is who you are; not necessarily how well rounded you may be. Good luck to all future nursing applicants and congrats.
"Congratulations! This email is to inform you of your provisional acceptance to The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San José State University" Fall
You can DM if you have any questions.
