2024.05.17 12:41 CalemPerrin Appealing a decision

Hey so I was wondering because I made a stupid decision and brought brass knuckles into college just for self defence because I didn't feel safe at all in my area and had some outside drama happening but I was messing about with my mates and the brass knuckles dropped in front of security and I picked them up and ran off because I was scared of what was going to happen but I was wondering if I write a formal letter about an appeal stating that I would let any searches be made on me, I would come in earlier to get searched and I would let them risk assess me to see if I am safe to myself and others and I would let anything happen to prove I am safe around myself and others and what could I write to help me get back into college If any of you could help me with this thankyou very much .

2024.05.17 12:28 bobkairos How much talk of pioneering at the convention?

If you attend this year's convention, please could you report how much pioneering is featured on the programme?
I see from Larch's new post that they have updated pioneer book.I have to admit, I'm surprised at this. I had a suspicion that they were quietly phasing out pioneering. It would be crazy for them to do it, but then they are crazy.
Here are my reasons for thinking this:
Pioneer school has been reduced from two weeks to one. Now often the school is conducted by a CO and a local pioneer elder, instead of two CO's In many places they have to bring their own lunch. It used to be a sit-down meal provided by the local congregation. The school used to be a big draw - "You only need to pioneer for 12 months, then you get invited to the school...". Now it is less special, it is less of a draw for new ones.
The reduction in pioneer hours makes it less significant as a role and naturally lowers its status. 12.5 hours a week is not such a feat of spirituality. If people stop thinking that pioneering is so special, they will be less likely to sacrifice college or career prospects to do it. Actually, now the hours are so low, it would be possible to attend college AND pioneer. For me, this is the biggest danger for the Borg. They have to offer a career path that keeps young people out of mainstream education and life. If they don't, this religion will surely sink once the boomers have left the scene.
No more foreign language groups. When I was pioneering (90's-2000s), the only thing that kept us going was the academic appeal of learning a new language and the time it used up trying to find people who spoke that language. If I was left in my home congregation (very white, middle-class suburbia) I would have gone nuts knocking on doors all day. Nobody in the English territory was interested or would listen for more than 20 seconds.
The fact that non-pioneers don't have to count time at all makes pioneering seem unnecessarily unfair. If I can be "in good standing" and knock off whenever I feel like it, why would I bind myself to pedantically counting my time? On the Borg videos, they have portrayed not counting time as a positive, an advancement to help us focus on people, not time. If so, why the hell would anyone pioneer?
So my theory is that they won't abolish the "privilege" of pioneering, they will just talk about it less and less.
If you attend the convention, please report back on how pioneering is talked about on the programme. Is it the focus of the ministry, or just something you can do if you wish?
What do you think?

2024.05.17 12:02 Tasty-Objective676 Small claims against an app for wrongful deactivation / permaban

Hello all!
I was wrongfully deactivated from the Hinge dating app. I have never acted inappropriately or violated any of their terms as far as I am aware of. When I requested an appeal I was denied and never told the reason why I was banned or why my appeal was denied. My best guess was I made my profile after a sour breakup, and my vindictive ex might’ve seen my profile and reported it to get revenge.
I kinda just shook it off and moved on to another app but then I saw this story of a person who I suing Lyft in small claims for wrongful deactivation, so it kind of reminded me of this.
I think the reason it bothers me the most is that it was a false allegation that I want to be exonerated from. Also, as a 27 year old in a major city, people don’t meet new people in person as often anymore. I am a social person and do occasionally have those experiences, but I miss having the option of Hinge as well.
My question for y’all is this: could I file a case in small claims to get hinge to review my profile again? What kind of damages could I claim and what grounds do I have? I have paid for memberships with the app in the past, but I don’t remember if I had an active membership at the time of deactivation. Would sending a demand letter be a better option? Is this even feasible?
Constructive criticism is appreciated, please don’t be a dick. Ty in advance!

Professor Thaddeus Rune
____

Introduction

Thaumaturgy, the ancient discipline that merges magic and science, has long been a fascinating and challenging field of study. In our ongoing effort to expand the boundaries of knowledge and thaumic practice, we are faced with the challenge of finding and synthesizing materials that are not only abundant but also rich in crucial magical aspects. In this essay, we will explore two such materials: pyrite and icosahedrite, and examine their potential in the creation of new alloys and thaumic artifacts.
Pyrite, known for its composition of iron sulfide (FeS2), has long been a cornerstone in thaumic practice. The presence of sulfur and iron in its crystalline structure makes it an ideal source of the ignis, terra, and metallum aspects. Additionally, its perfect cubic crystals offer a generous dose of the ordo aspect, adding an additional level of complexity to its thaumic utility.
However, the growing scarcity of natural pyrite crystals, specially those with cubic shapes, due to its extensive use in the crafting of pyrotic magical alloys and power objects, poses a significant challenge for modern thaumaturges. It is imperative that we explore viable alternatives for obtaining this material.
We must also highlight the importance of emerging materials such as icosahedrite. Icosahedrite, recently discovered and of meteoric origin, exhibits a unique chemical composition of aluminum, copper, and iron (Al63Cu24Fe13). Although its availability is limited and its cost high, its potential in thaumaturgy is extraordinary. In addition to being an excellent source of the metallum and permutatio aspects, the true marvel of icosahedrite lies in its emerging aspects, especially the rare alienus aspect.
This alienus aspect, with its exotic and mysterious qualities, offers a vast field of possibilities in the manufacturing of quantum devices, metamagic contraptions, and artifacts for metric manipulation of space-time. Furthermore, icosahedrite infused with praecantatio essence can give rise to powerful dodecahedrites, with potential applications in the production of high-density magical batteries, wands and scepters of great power, enhanced arcane weapons, and antimagic ammunition.
In conclusion, both pyrite and icosahedrite represent valuable contributions to the thaumic arsenal. Their unique properties and potential in the creation of new alloys and artifacts urge us to explore more economical and scalable production methods.

Summary

Throughout my research in the field of thaumaturgy and materials sciences, I have conducted a series of experiments aimed at synthesizing high-quality materials for application in thaumic practice. These experiments have resulted in the development of innovative synthesis methods, which have been detailed and documented in a report attached to this essay.
In this essay, however, my goal is to provide a concise and accessible summary of the synthesis methods employed, as well as the results obtained. While the attached report contains specific technical details and additional experimental data, here I will focus on presenting an overview of the procedures used and their implications in the context of contemporary thaumaturgy.
It is my hope that this summary provides a clear and practical understanding of the synthesis methods employed, as well as their relevance to research and thaumic practice. For those interested in delving deeper into the technical and experimental details, I refer to the attached report for further information and detailed insights.

Method of synthesis for Pyrite cubes

The process of synthesizing high-quality pyrite involves several meticulous steps to ensure the formation of cubic pyrite crystals with optimal perfection and purity. Below is a summary of the main steps of the method:
  1. Preparation of the reactive mixture: The process begins with the preparation of a stoichiometrically calculated mixture of sulfur and iron. 32.06 grams of sulfur and 55.84 grams of iron, both finely powdered, are carefully weighed and mixed.
  2. Formation of iron sulfide (FeS2): The sulfur-iron mixture is placed in a crucible and ignited to initiate the reaction and form iron sulfide (FeS2).
  3. Grinding and dissolution: Once the iron sulfide is formed, the product is finely ground. Subsequently, the resulting iron bisulfide is dissolved in a eutectic mixture of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium chloride salts. The exact proportions of these salts and specific temperatures are detailed in the attached report.
  4. Crystallization and controlled cooling: The dissolved mixture is placed in a crucible inside a glass annealing furnace for slow controlled cooling. This process allows pyrite crystals to form and crystallize in an orderly and uniform manner.
  5. Extraction and selection of crystals: Once the mixture has cooled and fully crystallized, the salt block is broken to extract and separate the precipitated pyrite crystals. Crystals with the most perfect cubic shapes are selected for use as seed crystals for growing larger crystals.
  6. Process refinement: Throughout the experimentation, refinements were made to the process to improve the quality and perfection of the pyrite crystals. These refinements are detailed in the attached report.
  7. Results: After a series of experiments and adjustments, a pyrite cube measuring 3.24 cm on each side was successfully grown, representing a significant success in the synthesis of high-quality pyrite.
This method of pyrite synthesis offers an effective route to obtaining cubic pyrite crystals with optimal thaumic properties, opening up new possibilities in the research and application of this material in contemporary thaumaturgy.

Method of synthesis for Icosahedrite dodecahedrons

The synthesis process of icosahedrite dodecahedrons involves a series of meticulous steps to cultivate polycrystalline crystals with desirable thaumic properties. Below is a summary of the main steps of the method:
  1. Preparation of the metal mixture: The process begins with the pre-fusion and mixing of a finely powdered combination of 21.51 grams of aluminum, 19.305 grams of copper, and 9.185 grams of iron, in a controlled argon atmosphere. The mixture is carefully conducted to ensure a uniform distribution of the elements.
  2. Refusion and controlled cooling: The metal mixture undergoes a refusion process to ensure complete melting of the components. Once melted, the mixture is allowed to cool within a crucible placed in a glass annealing furnace, ensuring slow controlled cooling.
  3. Addition of ordo aspect essence: During the cooling process, ordo aspect essence is added to accelerate and enhance crystallization. This addition helps promote the growth of desired dodecahedral quasicrystals and improve their quality and purity.
  4. Formation of the polycrystalline metal matrix: As a result of the controlled cooling process and the addition of ordo aspect essence, a polycrystalline metal matrix is obtained containing a variety of crystals with different orientations and structures.
  5. Extraction and selection of dodecahedrons: The polycrystalline metal matrix is carefully broken and fragmented to separate and extract perfectly formed and desired dodecahedral quasicrystals. Dodecahedrons with the most suitable shapes and thaumic properties are selected for use in thaumic applications.
Although the obtained icosahedrite dodecahedrons may be small in size, their successful formation represents a significant advancement in the synthesis of this highly promising material in thaumaturgy. This method provides a solid foundation for future research and applications in the field of contemporary thaumaturgy.
____

Request for acquisition of magical materials for Dodecahedrite research

Given the success of the icosahedrite synthesis process, I am attaching the reason why I have requested a budget. Although the letter sent details the reasons better, I have chosen to include an excerpt in this essay for transparency purposes.
In order to advance our thaumic research and reduce future costs, I propose an innovative strategy involving the acquisition of key magical materials for the manufacture of dodecahedrites. These materials, greatwood and thaumite, are crucial for extracting large quantities of praecantatio essence, an essential component in the successful production of dodecahedrites.
Greatwood and thaumite, with their high concentration of praecantatio essence, will allow us to obtain the necessary raw materials to manufacture dodecahedrites efficiently and economically. These dodecahedrites, combined with the icosahedrite quasicrystals we have successfully synthesized, will be used in future research on advanced thaumic applications.
By acquiring these materials in large quantities, we can not only reduce the production costs of dodecahedrites but also ensure a constant and sufficient supply for our thaumic research projects. Additionally, it will enable us to conduct large-scale experiments and explore the full thaumic potential of dodecahedrites in various areas of study.
Therefore, I respectfully request the University of Tecnomagic of Valencia to consider allocating a budget for the acquisition of greatwood and thaumite. This strategic investment will allow us to advance more rapidly in our thaumic research and achieve new milestones in the field of contemporary thaumaturgy.
I am available to provide any additional information that may be necessary and that I am authorized to provide.
Sincerely,
Professor Thaddeus Rune

2024.05.17 10:18 YoLoMaN2510 [REQUEST] [PS5] Horizon Forbidden West $49.99 (23rd ATTEMPT)

Hello everyone at GiftofGames, how are you all doing!!
I recently graduated from college and I'm struggling to find a job. It's really demoralising for me receiving rejection letters, I'm a big gamer and playing games is the only thing that has kept my morale up during these tough times. My financial situation is pretty dire right now, I can't afford to buy a lot of new games.
I'm currently looking to buy Horizon Forbidden West on my PS5. This is my 23rd attempt at requesting for this game. I played the first game on my PS4 and loved it. The standard edition of the game is currently on sale at $49.99. I'm looking for a $50 PlayStation gift card of US region.
GAME SUMMARY
The sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Western United States recovering from the aftermath of an extinction event caused by a rogue robot swarm. The player can explore the open world and complete quests using ranged and melee weapons against hostile machine creatures.
Basically the game takes place in the far future where humanity almost gets destroyed by their advanced robotic creations. But it seems humanity have sort of gone backwards with their primitive clothing, implying that they haven't got the previous knowledge of their ancestors. The first game Horizon Zero Dawn, the protagonist Aloy discovers secrets about what happened to humanity, and its sequel is the continuation of this first game where she explores the far west of modern day america.
WHY I'M INTERESTED
The reason why this game appeals to me is the setting. I find it soo interesting how humanity was able to be on the brink of extinction and somehow managed to survive (I can't anymore due to spoilers). And after surviving, civilisation sort of went backwards instead of continuing on from the ancestors. I watch a lot of lore videos on youtube about this game, and there are many different stories hidden in the game world which tells us different perspectives of people on the situation. Even though its humanity that is in trouble, everybody has a different view on how to tackle the problem. But this is only touching the surface, there is also the robot machines created in these giant cauldrons that is a big mystery to this day.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my post and will give my thanks if I receive the gift card from you. Here is my PSN ID: https://psnprofiles.com/Revelanttech713

2024.05.17 10:13 No_Hippo_2551 Is it too late for me?

Is it too late for me to turn my grades around and be better? I’m 17, going to be a senior next year. My gpa is a 2.2 and overall I’m not a great student. I’m planning on going to community college after highschool for 2 years for academic and financial reasons, but is there anything I can do to make myself more appealing for universities after? Anything I can do now, I will, I just need someone to tell me what. Any advice from anyone who knows what to do or has been in this situation. Thank you.

2024.05.17 09:27 Specialist_Cell2174 Some thoughts on life and academia.

I keep thinking about my experience in academia (Ph.D. and postdoc), an unsuccessful attempt to escape and how I dug my grave with my own hands.
I keep reading about recent developments in US biotech industry and its has been absolutely disheartening. The job market right now is awful and it has not bottomed out.
I cannot help, but thinking how did I arrive at this point and what could I have done to save myself???
I am speaking here about my experience in life sciences. I hope that the situation is better in other areas, but life sciences are absolutely over-saturated, over-flowing and under-paid area of STEM, probably along with chemistry.
Long time ago, after 1 year into the Ph.D. program, I got a weird feeling. I quietly approached people in the lab, with whom I was on friendly terms and they confirmed my worst expectations. Essentially, the unspoken (and un-communicated!!!) assumption was that after a year or so a Ph.D. student should show to the PI outstanding results, worthy of publication in "Nature", "Science" etc. Obviously, with no help, no guidance, no support. The PI did not want to tarnish his academic CV with publications in low- or medium-impact journals! So, if you could not show a potential for a publication in "Nature" (or similar journal), the PI would simply lose interest in you and "dis-own" you. This meant no support of any kind, no interest in your defense and no recommendation letter. Nothing! I saw this done to several people in our group. The PI tried (in some cases very successfully) to sabotage careers of his subordinates.
Remainder of my Ph.D. was absolute mental torture. I knew that without support of the PI I had not a single chance for academic career. Basically, academic career was dead for me. Every day I experienced a mental torture of senseless work. I knew that it was absolutely pointless to continue my Ph.D. The project was going nowhere. The PI lost all interest. By then I knew very well, how competitive and cutthroat was academia. I could have just sat in my office, collected stipend for another year or more and walked away. There was no point of doing anything. It was like digging a hole in the ground and then filling it back with same soil. Again and again and again! Every day! Coming to the lab, doing senseless work, knowing that it was all meaningless and continue doing it over and over -- just to have something to put in the thesis. This experience crippled me to the point that now I absolutely cannot stand any meaningless work.
I defended my Ph.D. and somehow got a postdoc in a shitty lab. 3 years of my postdoctoral experience could be described by one word: abuse! Constant lies, gaslighting, micromanagement, disrespect, threats, being underpaid, being overworked. I clearly remember that I cried because I did not have a courage to commit suicide.
I tried to seek on-line, on various forums advice on how to get out of this situation. To put it short, I was "trolled" and bullied by academics to the point of mental meltdown.
Recently I tried to find a career coach / mentor. Needless to say, my search was unsuccessful. There is no help out there! Sure, there are people that gladly will take your money in return to sugarcoated fluff. But that's it!
I have been thinking a lot about career coaching / career guidance. You know what? Absence of good advice / a lot of bad advice was, probably, a final "death blow" to my aspirations.
First of all, I did not understand how hiring works and no one explained it to me. It is not that there is a great mystery about hiring, it is that no one ever explained it to me. Secondly, I falsely believed that I could capitalize on Ph.D. itself and a set of so called "transferable skills". Lie! No one hires based on transferrable skills! Transferable skills == soft skills. If you have only transferable skills = soft skills, you can get a job of an admin assistant. Because you need good communication skills and critical thinking when scheduling meetings and taking minutes. But! If you have transferable skills and a Ph.D., you will NOT get a job of admin assistant, because you are "over-qualified".
I always knew that my Ph.D. in molecular biology was completely worthless! Yes, I had to learn every single method and protocol myself, without any help! Yes, I worked 60 hr and 80 hr weeks. But you cannot put this on resume and hope that HR will value it. Even today, years after I completed my Ph.D., I can explain every single methods and every single experiment that I did. Because I did everything on my own, without any help!!! I should be proud of myself, but I actually hate myself -- because I cannot sell it. Because market values "rock-stars", because market values what's trendy and what's in demand!
I was led astray by all this trash advice about "customizing your resume" and "highlighting transferrable skills". I have missed an opportunity of a lifetime!!! 5 or 6 years ago people, who attended coding bootcamps, could actually get a job as a programmer!!! Yes, not too long ago employers were actually scooping people, who completed coding bootcamps!!! That would have been my chance of getting the hell out of academia. I had a gut feeling that my Ph.D. was a complete waste of time, I suspected that I need to write-off Ph.D. as a loss and re-educate myself completely to have a chance! And I have missed an opportunity of a lifetime to learn how to code, to get into bootcamp, to get an entry-level coding job and move on from there. Now there are ongoing layoffs in tech and job market is flooded with junior coders. The gates are closed.
Instead, I wasted my time tinkering / customizing my resume and thinking how to sell "transferrable skills". Wrong, wrong, wrong! I do not think that anything like it will ever come again. When you can teach yourself, when you can get through the bootcamp and get into a field with good pay and career growth!!!
To all people out there: I cannot stress enough, watch out for bad advice!!! Look for a good advice -- its worth it's weight in gold!

2024.05.17 09:24 Master748 Rejected Schengen Visa Spain

So i applied for a tourist schengen visa for spain and get rejected for some stupid reason, all my papers are good, i have a good salary and the bank statement more than covers the duration of the trip (12 days to madrid) I was planning to visit italy and switzerland as well but didn't tell them in the interview to increase the chances of acceptance, maybe i should have told them? I think the interviewer was also suspicious of me when i told him my Swiss cousin is gonna join me in madrid, so he said why aren't you going to switzerland then? I told him it was boring ( yeah i might have fucked up a bit lol). He also asked me what places am i going to visit in Madrid, i told him the royal palace, Santiago Bernabue, and the Madrid aquarium zoo, I stated that i have not memorized all the names since it is in Spanish but i have a list on my phone, he hated that answer aslo wtf kinda interview is that behind a barrier with 20 people waiting behind me and watching me.
Reasons for rejection:
The worker at BLS advised me to appeal since it is my first time applying to Schengen, and to send an appeal letter to the spanish embassy. Has anyone tried appealing before? I heard some say that appealing takes a long time and it might better to just apply for the visa again(Maybe apply to Switzerland and let my cousin send me an invitation).

2024.05.17 09:22 Longjumping_Tax2167 How do I meet my conditional offer of admission from Uoft?

So i have a conditional offer from Uoft “maintain your academic standing”. I have already submitted my AS level grades and I am giving my A’level component exams right now in may 2024 and I feel like my grades might slip by one letter grade in all 3 of my subjects compared to my AS level grades. Could they revoke my admission offer? Also I heard that you just need to pass in your A’level exams once you get an offer of admission. Is this true?

2024.05.17 09:21 Coolsharp How do I tell my parents about being academically dismissed from college?

I (21F) got academically dismissed from college at the start of this year. I’m able to try and reapply at the start of 2025 so it isn’t the end of the world or so to speak. My parents do not know that I’ve been out of school since January, they believe I was still in it even now. Currently, they are paying for my college so I know the due date is coming in which I can’t hide it anymore. My parents are extremely manipulative, aggressive and abusive, always guilt tripping me. The reason why I didn’t tell them right away was because I’m terrified of them and I’m scared of their reactions. I’m visiting them tomorrow (I don’t know what’s going to happen, they still assume I’m in college) and I won’t be able to go back to my apartment until Sunday morning. I genuinely was going to tell my parents once I moved into a new apartment but I’m just so scared of them and what they’ll do to me. They only see the things I’ve done wrong, or messed up with. They never see anything good about me.
For more context, my mother is a foreigner so she still struggles with living here in America. My father is a retired military man who’s served for 21 years. I wouldn’t even be in college if it wasn’t for my mom to convince my dad. My dad doesn’t really care about me but I know my mom does. I understand they are only trying to do what’s best for me but I can’t stop remembering all the horrible things they’ve done to me throughout my life. So what do I do? How do I tell them? Should I do it over the phone, in public, through a letter.. I’m just so confused and stressed.

2024.05.17 09:05 mamafihin0kcui Philosophical Justification of Aggression

Modern media can embellish people and actions that are actually ugly, unproductive and anti-humane. The mega-popular TV presenter Tucker Carlson (the programmers of the X/Twitter social network are currently working on the artificially inflated ratings of his programs) published an interview with Alexander Dugin, who in the West has a reputation as an influential intellectual and academic philosopher, although in both cases it is not true. In fact, Dugin just likes to read and talk. He really reads a lot, in particular, philosophical works, but he quotes and interprets all these in a free manner, skillfully and manipulatively adapting the opinions of other thinkers and various facts to himself.
Dugin is a pseudo-intellectual who, however, a skillful orator and knows how to impress people. The philosophical community of Russian academic circles openly disrespect Dugin. He is popular among the radical far-right public, who never read his printed works, but only know his repeated appeals and slogans as “protection of traditional values”, “protection of traditional families”, “protection and spread of the Russian language and culture”, “the supremacy of true Christian Russia over the rotten West, which has plunged into Satan’s Kingdom” and so on. It is noteworthy that Dugin is considered one of the main creators of the ideology of the “Russkiy mir”, while the latter is not generally accepted ideology in Russia, but a mixture of different views (which sometimes contradict each other).
It is quite interesting that Carlson and Dugin complained about the ban on the works of the “Eurasian philosopher” in the United States and the impossibility of purchasing his translated English books on the Amazon service. At the same time, both of them did not mention the facts of total censorship inside Russia or mass arrests and convictions for spreading true news about the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, etc.
In any case, no matter how extravagant Dugin's views are, he looks quite presentable for a Western audience in Carlson's interview. The latter may perceive him as an intellectual with some deviations, or, in the worst case, as a useful idiot. However, there are no statements in the interview with “Putin's brains” on Carlson’s YouTube channel for which Dugin is so loved and respected in Russia; namely about his calls to destroy Ukrainians, kill Ukrainian children, fight bravely against the civilization of the satanic West, not be afraid to use nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles, etc.
In general, anyone in the West who takes a deep interest in Dugin’s personality, carefully reads his works and critically listens to his interviews, is guaranteed to be horrified by this aggressive pseudo-philosophical delusion. However, being maximum loyal to the interviewer, a relatively short video story (a 20-minute conversation) on a mega-popular YouTube channel can, unfortunately, rise the popularity of a cult Russian neo-fascist, chauvinist, xenophobe and imperialist in the West.

2024.05.17 09:02 Extra_Ad9031 question about my academic integrity (AI) violation

Hi everyone! I'm filling out AMCAS and I came across the question about institutional action. While I wasn't found guilty, I got an email last semester from a professor accusing me of cheating by showing someone answers during an exam. I was given the opportunity to write a letter as a reply, to which I explained myself and that I didn't do anything of the sort. After that, he retracted his accusation and I was told it wouldn't be on my transcript and I did not receive any sanction. The girl accused of cheating off of me admitted to cheating, and received a sanction and the whole 9 yards. I recently got ahold of my informal transcript for an internship, which didn't have any mark indicating an academic integrity violation. However, in my school's integrity violation portal, I can still see record of my violation but also that it was retracted. Do I still need to mark Yes on AMCAS? The question states that I need to for any institutional action against me. I'm very tempted not to so my application doesn't immediately get trashed but I'm scared I can get in trouble for "lying". Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

2024.05.17 08:55 Adblinds Choosing the Right Colors and Patterns for Your Window Roller Blinds

Window roller blinds not only serve a practical purpose in controlling light and privacy but also contribute significantly to the aesthetic appeal of your home decor. Selecting the right colors and patterns for your roller blinds can enhance the overall ambiance of your living space and complement your interior design scheme.
In this blog, we'll explore some tips and considerations to help you choose the perfect colors and patterns for your window blinds.

Understanding the Impact of Colors and Patterns

Colors and patterns play a crucial role in interior design, influencing the mood, atmosphere, and visual perception of a space. When selecting roller blinds for your windows, it's essential to consider how different colors and patterns will interact with your existing decor and contribute to the overall look and feel of the room.

1. Consider Your Decor Style

Start by assessing your existing decor style and color palette. Are you aiming for a modern, minimalist look, or do you prefer a more traditional, cozy ambiance? Choose roller blinds that complement the overall aesthetic of your space, whether it's sleek and contemporary or warm and rustic.

2. Create Contrast or Cohesion

Decide whether you want your roller blinds to stand out as a focal point or blend seamlessly with the rest of your decor. Opting for contrasting colors or bold patterns can add visual interest and drama to your windows, while selecting shades that match or complement your wall color and furnishings creates a cohesive and harmonious look.

3. Consider the Room's Functionality

Think about the specific function of each room when choosing colors and patterns for your roller blinds. For instance, in a bedroom where relaxation is key, soothing and calming colors such as soft blues or greens may be preferable. In a home office or study area, vibrant colors or stimulating patterns can energize the space and enhance productivity.

4. Evaluate Natural Light Levels

Take into account the amount of natural light that enters the room through your windows. In rooms with ample sunlight, lighter-colored roller blinds can help maximize brightness and create an airy, spacious feel. In contrast, in rooms with less natural light, darker shades or patterns with depth and texture can add warmth and coziness.

5. Choose Timeless or Trendy Designs

Consider whether you prefer roller blinds with timeless, classic designs that will withstand changing trends or if you're open to experimenting with more trendy or seasonal patterns. Neutral colors such as whites, creams, and grays are versatile and timeless, while bold patterns or vibrant hues can add a contemporary touch.

6. Account for Window Size and Placement

The size and placement of your windows will also influence your choice of colors and patterns for roller blinds. Large windows can accommodate bolder designs without overwhelming the space, while smaller windows may benefit from lighter colors or subtle patterns to avoid feeling crowded.

7. Test Samples Before Committing

Before making a final decision, it's a good idea to order samples or swatches of different colors and patterns to see how they look in your space. This allows you to visualize how the roller blinds will interact with your existing decor and make any necessary adjustments before committing to a purchase.

Conclusion

Choosing the right colors and patterns for your window roller blinds is an important decision that can significantly impact the overall look and feel of your home. By considering factors such as decor style, room functionality, natural light levels, and window size, you can select roller blinds that complement your interior design scheme and enhance the ambiance of every room. Whether you opt for timeless neutrals, bold patterns, or subtle textures, your roller blinds can be both functional and stylish additions to your home decor.

2024.05.17 08:54 Advanced_Caramel_600 RTW with second Academic probation standing

As the title says, I think I will be given a RTW from the faculty with a gpa of 1.9 this academic year. This is my second time being in the 1.7 - 1.9 gpa standing, and I was already given a academic warning two years ago, which I cleared last year.
This is my fourth year studying, and I was just remaining one more year from graduation at faculty of science. I have been reading a lot of reddit posts and in the middle of trying to talk with the academic advisors and the ombuds, but I don't know what options I have in order for me to be keep studying at the university without taking a year gap and looking to appeal if that is the only viable option.
My standings was fine during the fall term, with around 2.8 gpa, but I have failed terribly during the winter term. I think that I was overestimating myself with all the pressure that I have given to myself by taking 5 courses, with some time-consuming extracurricular activities(research assistant and side developing job for my resume).
I don't know if my case will be bought with the dean to give a successful appeal, and I am also not too sure if taking a spring course and getting a good grade will help in the appeal process.
What are some of opinions? Honestly, I need any sort of advice or opinions at the moment.
I'm a computing science major just fyi
