2024.05.23 07:54 Average_Crafter i just watched GxK and i want a refund of my 2 hours.....

THIS MOVIE WAS AN ABOMINATION!! Single handedly the worst movie i've watched in 2024 and probably will watch for the rest of the year.
Before anything, no hate to you if you liked this movie, we all like different things but gosh do i want to vent this out.
The most important of all was sense of scale, gosh this movie gave me a headache watching it just trying to comprehend the sense of scale, its constantly changing , no real anchor point to surrogate to , can't tell if kong was supposed to be 3000 KM tall or just 300 meters tall, the environment also made me puke given how their scale, terrain and size keeps changing .
second was sense of weight, these are beings that should weigh like THOUSANDS OF TONS, and here they are in screen looking like they're the 20 gram lizards fighting in bedroom wall, the PHYSICS WAS JUST DISGUSTINGLY BAD, when compared to the earlier movies, if you looked at godzilla 2014, every step that godzilla took had a weight, had an impact, had me holding my breath, where as in this movie, i don't give a shit cause godzilla's just out here flying across the sky like he weighs nothing. Same thing happened with the pacific rim franchise
The dialogues were the most cringe, topping madame web and morbius, like tf was that. the dialogues were basically either non sensical or straight up spoon feeding as if this movie was made for a 6 year old.
The CGI looked TERRIBLE in a lot of places. , when compared to the 2014 godzilla or the recent godzilla minus one. everything looked fake and plasticky.
TONS of plot holes- there's so many that i forgot half of em by the time i finished the movie.
Don’t ever get me started on the story , major plot points are just on autopilot as if they had CHATGPT write the general story and let a 10 year old filll in the gaps. It’s soo obvious they weren’t even trying to, like just look at the dialogue that podcast guy says when the tribe are doing something to disable the gravity ??!?! Like he just spits out a random junk of sci fi words in a series and we’re somehow supposed to just accept that as something beyond our knowledge and move on? Like anyone above 6th grade would know what he said literally had 0 meaning whatsoever.
This is coming from a monsterverse fan who absolutely loved the 2014 Godzilla movie, the kong skull island and even the king of monsters. These movies were peak of cinema in my opinion, like some of my most favourite movies , every monster feels like it could be real , every building destroyed, every step taken , every move of a titan is impact full and felt. Where as in comparison , the GvK and GxK buildings and the environment was just play dough to these monsters.
Even something as simple as the camera angles , every movie prior to the GvK had grounded and relatable camera angles to surrogate to the audience on the scale and reality of things where as in the recent iterations , camera is just a floating third person video game ass controller floating all over the place .
And what did they do to my boy kong , in skull island he was this menacing ruthless ape that raised fear every time he was on screen, yet lovable and understandable at the end. I understand trying to show him as smart and human for connections but it feels out of character from what I expect from a monster. I liked rampage even tho the gorilla there was human in a lot of ways , it fit for that world and the universe they had around it where as here for kong he went from this menacing gorilla to this 6ft4 half hairy human who suddenly do sign language , set up series of tom and jerry ass complicated and planned out traps , smirking at Godzilla like , I cannot take him seriously after all this . Like I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next film he just straight up starts doing a Fortnite dance

2024.05.23 06:40 The_official_Recon Thoughts on my 1440p build for gaming?

hi folks,
what do you think of my build for my first pc? I'm aiming for 1440p. Since I'm in Europe, RX 6800 is perhaps the best bang for the buck (edit: up to 400-450 eur) here at the moment.
One question that I can't find the answer is whether my RAM is good enough for the setup? Anything else you would change?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.23 06:31 95thesises Budget build for a first time PC gamer

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
I'm a long-time PC gamer. I've got a beefy build purchased after my last big work project that I couldn't be happier with. However, as much as I love PC gaming, I've never really paid that much attention to the minutia of PC hardware; for example, I knew that the graphics card in my build was the most powerful on the market before I bought it for my PC, but I just paid my younger brother the local wage by the hour to spend some time researching everything, ordering it, and assembling it because he's much more interested in that kind of stuff.
But a friend of mine recently expressed interest in PC gaming, and I want to help them find a good build for their needs. They've only ever gamed on PS4 before, so they don't necessarily need a machine that will run the latest titles in 240 fps, or get 60fps on Ultra graphics, in order for a budget PC to be a major improvement for them. Their main goals with this first build would be to play PC games they've always wanted to try but that hadn't been ported to PS4, and maybe some relatively modern (not necessarily latest releases) action games e.g. Apex Legends at anything better than PS4-level performance and with a keyboard and mouse input rather than controller.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
I think something like a PC that could run at least run Apex Legends at 'low' graphics at a resolution of 1920x1080p at 120fps without too too many frame-rate drops below 120 would be more than sufficient for my friend. I know Apex isn't a particularly hardware-intensive game, but most games they would want to play would be even less intensive than Apex anyway, and the few that might be more intensive would be acceptable at loweless consistent framerates. In case there's a blind spot for me here, though, some games they're interested in playing are:
And other games at that level.
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
My loose budget is about 1200 dollars including keyboard, mouse, headset, and monitor, which my friend will also need. Based on my preliminary research something like 800-1000 seems reasonable for the PC itself.
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
USA
Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

My main question would regard GPU and CPU: are these overboard for my goal, or alternatively potentially underpowered? I understand this won't be able to run the newest releases of 2028 with great graphics fidelity and performance, but some level of future proofing e.g. being able to a run a good amount of games released in the next few years at low-level graphics settings at more-or-less 60fps would be ideal.
Provide any additional details you wish below.
The additional details might actually be pretty important here: my friend is definitely not very familiar with operating a PC, and they live too far away for it to be feasible for me to actually go to their house to help with any tech support issues, so a sticking point here will be ease of setup and use. My plan is to either buy these parts and assemble them for my friend, then ship them the finished PC, or potentially to find a prebuilt that best approximates a build like this and just have that shipped directly to their door (don't try to argue that my friend should just figure out how to assemble the parts themselves). Any advice on how to navigate a situation like this this when I can't feasibly visit my friend to help them in-person in any way would be helpful (especially potential pitfalls to avoid e.g. should I avoid shipping a finished build due to potential damage it might receive in transit?). Furthermore any advice in general would be helpful regarding how to facilitate PC setup for a person who is very unfamiliar with desktop windows computers.

2024.05.23 05:41 StardustLegend Looking for a Zexal video

I’m looking for this yugioh Zexal fan video I remember watching a while back. It turned the Japanese summoning chants of the numbers into a sort of rap set to music, and it chronologically went through the numbers in order of appearance in the anime all the way up until vertix vs Kaito.
The video had the silhouettes of the duelists/respective number holder, and it included galaxy-eyes photon dragon despite it not being a number.
Anyone here remember what I’m talking about??

2024.05.23 01:38 spareaccount38445 PCs for small Business - Advice?

Hey all,
my dad has been building up a small business and I've been helping out with production and a little on the IT side of things. He knows I like building computers and he thinks I am pretty knowledgeable (I think he overestimates me a little) so he asked me if I could build or find some PCs that fulfill his needs. I accepted and just tried to find something suiting his needs. The budget is around 850€ for tax reasons.
He needs to use graphics design software such as Photoshop, Coreldraw, eventually some 3d graphics and vector graphics, as well as video editing software like DaVinci Résolve or Adobe's software.
He has a MacBook air which he hasn't been happy with as it sounds like a Jett engine when using Photoshop once it finally loads the program after crashing and it performs poorly with the programs he uses. He wants something quiet, that just works smoothly with all these programs and away from apple.
I did some research, but I could only find results related to gaming. I threw together a list of components based on a preconfigured PC I saw online. I just wanted your advice on the components and if you think I should use anything else.
Thanks a lot!
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 boxed (with cooler) 104€
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX3060 Gaming OC 12GB 300€
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 100€
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR-4 3200 70€
Power supply: Seasonic Focus GX-750W 90€
SSD: Kingston KC3000 1TB 95€
Case: Endorfy Ventum 200 Air 45€
Shipping not included, adds up to around 25€.
Any advice is welcome. Also, if I should buy prebuilt, let me know.

Will this build achieve that and if so is it overkill with the 16 GB VRAM of the GPU and 32 GB of ram?

Z71 3rd gen Traverse - opinions after a week of ownership... AMA
Skyline Drive OHV trails - Utah
Bountiful Peak, UT
Super Cruise
Pre-ordered my Z71 in Feb and took delivery last Tuesday here in Utah. I'm a pretty meticulous human... I've invested a borderline shameful amount of time consuming content and scouring every dark corner of the interwebs before pulling the trigger on this new gen Traverse.
Here's why I ultimately decided on it:
  1. Space: we're expecting kid #2 next month... also our parents on both sides live out of state but they visit often. Since we WFH and only have one car, wanted something spacious enough to fit 4 adults and 2 child car seats comfortably.
  2. Rugged: we live in SLC, UT and have a pretty active outdoor lifestyle (remote camping, skiing, etc). I had put down a deposit on the new Land Cruiser last summer but everything changed with the 2nd baby. I considered the GX 460/550 but the lack of practical space was a dealbreaker. The Z71 is obviously not intended for real off-roading but I couldn't find another spacious, 3-row SUV that includes true off-road capabilities beyond tires and a cosmetics package.
There's already a million reviews on this car so I'll just highlight what I've loved the most after a week of ownership.
The Tech: I work in the software industry and I've been thoroughly impressed by:
  • the interface is really intuitive and fully customizable. being able to rearrange the placement of app icons and pinning my favorite tools for easy access is a game changer
  • the 17.7in screen resolution is super sharp and responsive (camera image quality is fantastic)
  • love having the ability to display apple/google maps on the instrument cluster
Thoughtful Physical Buttons: although I'm a fan of technology, I'm not fond of all physical buttons being replaced by a touchscreen. The two things I don't want to rely on a screen/software for are climate controls and volume. Really appreciate having the option to use chunky, physical knobs and buttons for climate & volume in the Traverse.
Column Shifter: this might be my favorite thing haha (have a feeling most people won't share this sentiment). I hate when I'm shifting and I have my wife's big water bottle in the way or anything else in the cupholder. Having the shifter in the steering wheel not only opens up the cup holder space but I just find it more practical to shift gears where your hands already are (steering wheel). It's also a satisfying tactile experience.
Off-road Capability: although I know I'm not going to be doing hardcore off-roading with it, I wanted two things: 1) Feeling confident going up the canyon to ski when there's a lot of snow 2) We do a lot of camping in remote BLM areas. Want to have the peace of mind when exploring new areas and have the ability to reach places that might require a little more clearance and traction control. I took her up Skyline Drive in Utah and went into a fairly technical OHV trail that my Atlas would have not stood a chance on and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performed. Eventually I got to a section with bouldering rocks and it was too narrow to turn around... ended up doing the whole inclined trail in reverse, which was pretty impressive. Definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of what I hoped it was capable of.
Super Cruise: I wasn't originally planning on getting it with Super Cruise but I've been blown away by how well it works and glad I opted for it. I know it sucks that there's a cost associated with it after 3-years so we'll see how much I end up using it. We road trip a good bit and I'm sure I'll get a lot of value out of it.
These are my non-deal breaker mini gripes:
  • piano black center console shows every molecule of dust (might consider wrapping it)
  • no memory seats or ventilated seats for a $52k car
  • no garage door opener -> I ordered a Meross smart garage door opener ($45) that unlike MyQ, integrates with Alexa/Apple. Haven't installed it yet but it's my understanding that I'll be able to open garage with voice command or touching a button on the screen (just like on the RS)
Lastly, here's my unpopular opinion on the two discussion points I keep running across:
4-cylinder engine: lots of people sharing valid concerns about the "underwhelming power" and "whiny sound" of the 4-cylinder engine. Everyone has different priorities and it's become apparent that this has been a dealbreaker for some people that have driven it. I'm sure this will outrage many but personally... I don't understand how someone that might love everything else about the car would decide not to get it for this reason alone. Would I prefer a V6? Absolutely. The sad reality is that this is the direction all car manufacturers are going in.
Ultimately, a Traverse is a family hauler, not a sports car (which technically has more torque and power than the V6 previous gen). You only hear the whiny turbo sound when you floor it... so if your driving style is aggressive, I could see how this would turn you off. Otherwise, you don't really feel the difference. My two previous cars were both V6 (21 VW Atlas Cross Sport and 15 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland).
I actually find that this one has the best overall driving experience. The suspension provides a soft, comfortable ride and considering it's size, it handles really well. Good balance of truck and unibody SUV feel.
Z71 vs RS: buying a first gen car (albeit a GM) already feels like a risky move. What sold me on this new gen Traverse was the Z71 trim... it differentiates itself from every other 3-row SUV in it's price point/segment (Grand HighlandeTelluride/Palisade/Pilot) by having not only the more rugged look but valuable improvements in off-road manners. The closest thing would be a Jeep GC L but I've been burned by Jeep and I'm steering clear of Stellantis. Also, the Trailhawk version doesn't come with a 3rd row and the Overland is too expensive for what it is.
With an RS, you get a sportier look (not for me but I can see the appeal) and a few QOL add-ons. The only ones I wish I could have on my Z71 are memory/ventilated seats. With that being said, an RS is $5-8k more than a Z71 and if I was entering the $60k territory and didn't care for the Z71 features (wheels, tires, lift, suspension, twin clutch transmission), I don't think the RS would be my first choice.
TL;DR: very happy with my purchase. In today's car market, at an MSRP of $52,550 (without any discounts) I still feel like I'm getting a lot of value for my money.

2024.05.22 19:28 MidWestMountainBike The Best Current Deals on Mountain Bikes

Hey folks, I've seen a lot of people asking about mountain bike deals recently so I thought I'd take the time to put together a list of brands that are having great deals to save you some time.
Here's a link to an article on this that I'll keep up to date as prices and things change Best Deals on Bikes there's also a video version if you'd prefer that.
None of this is sponsored or anything, just personal opinion. These brands have A LOT of bikes, I'm mainly covering the full suspension trail/enduro but there's hardtails, e-bikes, all that good stuff on their sites.
If you folks find any other deals you think should be included, leave them in the comments and I'll update as they come in!

Canyon

Canyon is already a great bike brand for the budget, they're currently running deals on a handful of their bikes that are making that statement more true than ever. Check out things like the Spectral CF8 marked down 25% right now to $2,999. They even have a discount on their Sender CFR which is listed at $4,649 down from $5,799. There's a lot of discounted bikes so click through their page to see what tickles your fancy.

Specialized

Specialized is not a budget brand for sure but these discounts are landing them in new territory, dare I say, even "bang for buck" worthy. They have deals on a wide variety of models all the way from the ultra high end S-Works Stumpjumper EVO T-Type that's marked down to $9,999 ($1,500 off) to things like the Enduro Comp that's selling for $3,999 down from $5,400. There's a bike in that sale for everyone.

YT

YT is having discounts on pretty much all of their bikes and builds right now so click through their site and see if you find something you like. Personally, I think things like this Jeffsy Core 3 is a fantastic deal at $3,449 but they also have discounts on their enduro bikes like this Capra Core 4 listed at $4,399. They also have their core 1 bikes like this one on the Izzo going for $1,999. Can't get better for an entry level bike than that.
Huge thanks to u/josephmykal and u/thedon608 for pointing out that YT has a 20% off code halfcab20

TREK

Like Specialized, TREK is having deals on all makes and models of bikes. You can snag the flight attendant equipped Slash 9.9 XX1 for $9,599 down from $12,749. They even have deals for us non-dentist folk like this Remedy 8 selling for $2,699 down from $4,129. Look through their website and check your local dealer to see what they have in stock.

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is right up there with YETI in terms of dentistry business required to purchase a bike but their factory sale right now is making it a bit more realistic to get your hands on one of these. They have some of the best looking and performing bikes on the market and with deals like $1,100 off this Megatower GX AXS Coil bringing it down to $5,899 its very tempting to want to grab one. Also a big fan of the Santa Cruz 5010 that is discounted to $4,999 from $5,799 right now.

Rocky Mountain

Rocky Mountain is one of my personal favorite bike brands and they have some fantastic discounts on their previous model bikes right now. Things like this Instinct A30 Shimano are a solid deal marked down $1,360 to $2,039. They also have the Carbon and Aluminum versions of their Altitude on sale like this Altitude A70 Coil listed at $3,699 down from $5,699.

Transition

Transition makes what I consider to be the BEST looking bikes on the market. They have a close out section on their site that has select sizes available on the Sentinel and Spire but if you look at their actual bike pages you can see a lot of their bikes/builds are on sale. For instance, check out this Sentinel V2 that's discounted for all builds with the Alloy NX down to $2,799 which is wild.

Propain

Propane is already an insane value brand but they have a handful of bikes on their outlets page that make it easy to justify picking one up. You have this Tyee AL 27.5 for instance marked down almsot 50% to $2,700. They also have deals on the Huegene 2 on the Start, Performance, and Performance+ builds. If you can find your size, its a no-brainer.

Commencal

Commencal has a HUGE sale section right now and you can find pretty much any level of bike on there. Check out this fully kitted Meta TR V4 Staff Edition marked down 35% to $5,200 from $8,000. For us normal folk, they also have bikes like this Clash Race selling for $3,900 down from $5,500.

INTENSE (bonus)

I'm sure you've seen the posts about people finding the Intense 951 Trail at Costco for stupid prices but if you have a Costco membership I would DEFINITELY recommend going to check for this at your local. I've seen this bike going for $1,200 to $1,300 and one guy on here found it for even less. This is an absolute STEAL for this bike and if you can find it near you, you should 100% pick it up.
As u/BikingDruid pointed out, there are some killer deals on backcountry for bikes right now, they have everything from Pivot, Santa Cruz, Yeti, and more.
u/Ser_JamieLannister also mentioned that Jenson is having good deals on frames right now, worth checking out

2024.05.22 18:09 HeavenBlanc UPDATE!!! FROM THE OP/ED 2 OF YU-GI-OH ZEXAL! IN ITS KOREAN VERSION

Regarding OP/ED 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal! in its Korean version "Duel!" and "With You" I could finally find its full version since in the first post on this topic I had published a news story about a concert they had in 2012, I gave it a chance and searched for the event called "Annie Sound Festival 12" / "애니 사운드 페스티벌 12" searched for the event and that was how the complete song of probably the entire "Duel!" album could be found. (and probably a few others in their Korean version) that was released, but now the question is about the digital version of the album of "Duel!" Until now it has not been able to be found, all your support would be of great help to locate the issue digitally since until now it remains lost.
ALL THE CONCERT TOPICS THAT SOMEONE RECORDED IN 2012
(Fun fact: a guitarist from the JAM Project group "MACARONI☆" volunteered for OP 2)
