2024.05.23 12:09 Glameow0111 Which Doctor?

I (35F, 5'4" 150lb) am currently ~33 weeks pregnant. I’m on a prenatal vitamin, aspirin and B12 (prior deficiency). Pregnancy complications so far have included gestational diabetes (diet-controlled), preterm labor scare at 25 weeks resulting in 4-day hospital stay (but no issues after labor was stopped) and potential (currently working with allergist for diagnosis) mast cell activation syndrome, resulting in allergies to opiates and some nsaids, among others.
Due to some complicating factors, it’s been recommended by my medical team to do a scheduled c-section (no issues here with this). Natural labor would be risky for me, and the special medications that the team has decided on may not be ready in time if I go to the hospital unannounced.
My obgyn’s are wonderful. I worked with “Dr. H” for a few years before switching to “Dr. M” due to Dr. H becoming department head of obstetrics and working mainly in the hospital. Dr. M is relatively new to the profession, Dr. H has been in obstetrics for 20+ years.
After having these issues, I’ve been seeing Dr. M biweekly and have kept in touch with Dr. H periodically through consultation and email. Dr. M wants to schedule my c-section with her, at 39w 5d. She knows my case the best, knows me well, and has done a great job curbing my anxiety over my pregnancy. In the meantime as my case has progressed, I got in touch with Dr. H, which among other non-related questions, I voiced that I was worried I’d go into labor naturally before 39+5, and asked if I could schedule with Dr. M the week prior on 38+5, which I guess isn’t a possibility unless my case becomes more severe. She suggested instead to schedule my c-section with her earlier in the week, at 39+1, when she could do it herself.
My main question lies with who I should do my c-section with.
My heart says I should stick with Dr. M because she knows my case including my allergies the best, can calm me down while in the operating room, and has emotional investment in my case. My brain says I should go with Dr. H because it’s earlier, and with her being head of obstetrics, will be more likely to be able to successfully manage an unanticipated emergency in the OR. She also knows my case, but not well.
I was given this opportunity to switch via email last night and haven’t responded. Questions: Medically, would it really matter? Does 3-4 days make a big difference? Does knowing a case well and having emotional investment outweigh general knowledge? Should I discuss this with Dr. M or try to just make a swift decision either way? I don’t want to offend either of them, they’ve gone above and beyond to help me make it through this pregnancy. Open to advice.

🔗Chic Yellow Cutout Midi Dress with Front Slit

I was excited to try out the ASOS Design Long Sleeve Cutout Midi Dress Yellow Multi because of its unique blend of flirty and sophisticated details. The balloon-sleeve design added a fun touch, while the midriff cutout added a bold statement. The accordion-pleated skirt completed the look beautifully.
Though I appreciated the overall design, I did find that the sizing ran a bit small. It might be worth sizing up to ensure a comfortable fit. Furthermore, the material could be a bit thicker to provide more opacity and coverage in certain areas.
Overall, I had a positive experience wearing the ASOS Design Long Sleeve Cutout Midi Dress Yellow Multi. It brought some personality and flair to my wardrobe, and I enjoyed the overall aesthetic.

🔗Chic Long Sleeve Cutout Satin Midi Dress with Subtle Cowl Neckline

Astr The Label's Gracie Satin Midi Dress in Rust/S is a stunning piece that I've been wearing on a regular basis. The quality of satin fabric is exceptional, providing a luxurious feel and a perfect finish.
I love the chic cowl neckline and the ruching on the sleeves, which adds an elegant touch. This dress is perfect for a night out, yet it's also versatile enough for a dressy dinner. However, I found it slightly snug in size, which is a minor inconvenience.
But overall, I'd highly recommend this lovely cutout midi dress for anyone looking to make a statement.

🔗Oh Polly Olive Long Sleeve Cut Out Mini Dress

https://preview.redd.it/sdpzqb2ih52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96a62e7e385aa8a366714cf7a43c0caeefb01c72
I recently donned the Oh Polly Long Sleeve Cut Out Mini Dress in Olive to a friend's birthday party, and let me tell you, it was a hit! This dress is such a show-stopper, with its ruched wrap paneling giving a snatched silhouette that has everyone doing a double-take. The long sleeves add a touch of elegance, while the cut-outs lend an edgy, playful vibe.
One of the standout features of this dress is its seamless pull-on design. The hidden zipper on the reverse enhances the style without sacrificing functionality. The tight cut ensures a bodycon fit, making it perfect for those nights when you want to show off your curves. And at a mini length of approx. 77cms based on a US Size 4, this dress is sure to turn heads.
However, I must admit that while I loved the way I looked in this dress, the tight fit meant it was a little less comfortable than I would have liked. But overall, I felt confident and stunning wearing the Oh Polly Long Sleeve Cut Out Mini Dress in Olive. So, if you're looking to make a statement at your next event, this dress is definitely worth considering!

🔗Stylish Wine-Green Cutout Maxi Dress with Wide Sleeves

I recently tried the ASOS Design Plisse Cut Out Dress with Wide Sleeve and Side Twist Maxi Dress in wine-Green, and I must say it was quite a fashionable addition to my wardrobe. The high neck and long sleeves made it perfect for colder weather, while the cut-out panel at the side added a touch of elegance. The wide sleeves and side split added a unique twist, showcasing my personality.
However, there were a few aspects that I didn't enjoy so much, such as the regular fit which felt a bit tight around the bust area. Nevertheless, I appreciated the overall look and feel of the dress, and it's certainly a statement piece I'd wear again.

🔗Strapless Tan Cutout Gown with Cape Silhouette

https://preview.redd.it/9ff41q2jh52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98b35ade3707cbd509548c000e73525fca9d9c6a
Wearing this lovely tan ASOS Design Strapless Cutout Gown with a size 10 US is an unforgettable experience. The flowy silhouette, reminiscent of a classic cape, adds an effortless touch of glamour to any occasion.
I appreciate the unique front cutout detail and the slit skirt design, which adds a touch of modernity to this timeless piece. However, it could have been ideal with some more stretch, as the 5% elastane makes it somewhat rigid. Despite that, with proper care, it can be a go-to choice for those seeking a stylish and elegant gown.

🔗Stylish Khaki Green Cutout Skater Dress

https://preview.redd.it/2thds3kjh52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=824efd00f5aecfa370b2417ed7d545516ba29c17
I recently had the chance to try on the ASOS Design Long Sleeve Cutout Skater Dress in Khaki Green. It definitely had a playful and flirty vibe going on, thanks to the front and side cutouts that added an interesting twist to the skater dress style. I loved the idea of wearing a long-sleeve dress with a more summery, lightweight feel. The long sleeves also had a drawstring cuff, which allowed for comfort and a customizable fit.
My biggest gripe was with the material. It was 100% polyester, and while it was easy to wash and dry, it felt quite clingy and not very breathable in warmer months. Another downside was that the dress was designed as an exclusive retailer piece, so it wasn't readily available at other stores.
Overall, if you're looking for a unique, playful, and lightweight long-sleeve dress, this Khaki Green Cutout Skater Dress from ASOS Design could be your cup of tea. Just be prepared for some clingy fabric and a limited retail availability.

Buyer's Guide

Cutout dresses are a fashionable and versatile option for any wardrobe. These dresses feature openings or holes cut into them, creating a unique and eye-catching design. They can range from subtle cutouts to more dramatic, revealing styles. Before making a purchase, it's essential to consider the following factors to ensure you find the perfect cutout dress for you.

Material

https://preview.redd.it/1jdbmjxjh52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f6e6339041803f36bc0657e920c52aa00371ba0
The material of a cutout dress is crucial in determining its quality, durability, and comfort. Common materials include cotton, polyester, rayon, and lace. Cotton and polyester are durable and easy to care for, while rayon offers a luxurious texture. Lace can be a more delicate option and may require special care. Consider your preferred material and how well it suits your lifestyle and comfort level.

Cutout Style

Cutout dresses come in various designs, from subtle and sleek to bold and daring. When selecting a cutout style, consider factors such as personal style, occasion, and modesty. Subtle cutouts may be suitable for more conservative settings, while more revealing styles are better suited for evening events or night out.

Fit and Comfort

A well-fitted cutout dress can enhance your silhouette and make you feel confident, while a poorly fitting dress can be uncomfortable and unflattering. Ensure the dress fits correctly in the bust, waist, and hips, with enough room to move comfortably. Try on different sizes or consult with a sales associate to find the perfect fit. Comfort should be a priority when selecting a cutout dress, as you'll want to wear it for various occasions.

Versatility and Pairing with Accessories

A versatile cutout dress can be worn for multiple occasions, making it a smart investment. Consider how easily the dress can be dressed up or down with accessories. Add belts, scarves, or jewelry to create different looks. A versatile cutout dress can help you get the most out of your wardrobe.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure your cutout dress maintains its quality and appearance, pay attention to the care instructions provided by the manufacturer. Regular cleaning and storage can help prolong its life. Handle the dress with care to avoid snagging or damaging the cutouts.

Cutout dresses can be a stylish and versatile addition to any wardrobe. Consider the material, cutout style, fit, versatility, and care requirements when selecting the perfect cutout dress. By doing so, you'll find a dress that not only looks great but also meets your personal needs and preferences.

2024.05.23 12:06 LemuelHS Gege...

What a man you are gege you just made gojo a fucking bum of a teacher and a character.
What? Sukuna stole my student and adopted kid's body let's make a plan to fight him without killing him -> dies -> Sukuna sama you are so strong it's a shame I can't make him go all out. My students are dying? what do you mean (gargles on sukuna's cock).
"Soon my student will surpass me and they won't be alone". Gojo sensei can i use your body if you die. Sure yuta i don't care about my body now let me have a flashback about my pookie geto. Good job gojo now one of your best student will become a "monster" just like you and will die in 5 minutes.
"They don't have any choice sukuna is just that threatening". Exactly and gojo who's supposed to defeat him to protect his students failed at that too.
Fuck yuta character development. If this is the most logical thing that can happen then I personally would have prefered if the end of ch 260 didn't happen. Maybe gege can find an explanation so yuta doesn't die, if that's the case i hope yuta can't live like normal anymore and he went into an exile or something.
I am a gojo glazer and i might be biased but fuck man i hate this chapter so much

2024.05.23 12:05 QuintSmith02 Would I be correct in pushing away my Indian parents after their sacrifices?

A word of warning: we are an Indian family. I (18M) know that many people here have ingrained Western values, as do I (I wasn't raised in India). But they are full of Indian ideas, values, and superstitions. Once we had a 45 minutes arguments about me saying "Jeez" - because it's a short form of "Jesus" (we are Hindu). Another time I said I wanted to greet them with "Hi" instead of "Jay Shri Krishna" because I felt weird about it - and then they yelled at me that I didn't want to take god's name and I must surely love the muslims who greet with "Mashallah" (nothing against them from my side btw - some of my good friends are muslim, to their chagrin). Overall, read this post with a ton of salt, and with the lens of an Eastern culture rather than Western. Also, it's very long and rant-lik. But I really really need advice and I'm very confused - please please read the full thing and help me!
I was raised by my parents in a peaceful Southern African country that follows Western values. My friends from international school are all a blend - white, Indian, Chinese, Arab, and many locals (so black). Over time, I have questioned myself on which cultural and practical values to follow, and I've adopted a blend of traditional Indian and learned Western values. I am a Hindu and will stay a Hindu, but I'm not religious as my Stay At Home mom (48F) or working dad (49F).
I took a gap year after graduating from school a year early (I was a gifted child - not to boast, everyone is a genius in their own way :D) and was accepted into the University of Cambridge. My dad wholeheartedly committed the crazy huge cost of around 60,000 pounds annually out of pocket, whereas my mother was less enthused and many times tried to convince my dad to send me to a lesser grade school and save some more money for their retirement. For contest, they can afford this amount, but their retirement would be slightly less comfortable if I didn't pay them back over time, which I've already promised I will.
It sounds like our relationship is good on paper, but in reality it's really distraught. In particular with my mother, I've begun clashing on stupid things that they just won't budge on. They won't let me arrange my desk in my room, force me to wear a stupid ring and necklace that I hate due to their superstitious belief, and constantly berate me for the littlest things. Admittedly, the basis of their point is usually correct, but my mother always throws in a number of insults, and it devolves into a shouting match because if I try to point this out my mother will say "you can't talk to me this way". My dad will just say that I'm useless anyway and there's no point in talking to me, he's leaving for Cambridge anyway. My mom will sometimes say just send him to India to live with his grandparents (I have no friends or family here - all my school friends have flown out for university, all international kids do, and remaining friends are just acquaintances who are kids of my parents' friends). On rare occasions my mom will hit me or strangle me, or when I defend myself, both of them will become furious that "I even thought of raising my hand against my mom". They said that when they were kids, they could never have dreamed of such, that they gave so much for me (which is true), and that I don't respect them (which isn't true - I just also have self-respect too).
I'm not perfect either though - I didn't make any extensive preparations for mother's day, since I thought we didn't celebrate it (we hadn't until that point, along with basically any Western holidays ever - Father's Day, Women's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, New Year - it never happens, we just wish each other and move on, and attend any parties their friends are holding). After some discussion in which my mother expressed her disappointment, I sincerely apologised and by the end of the day we were relatively normal.
Last night, we were planning a trip to India for me to visit my grandparents. We were in a relatively ok mood. My mother jokingly said she'll miss me when I go to India, and I said this is just the trailer for when I go to Cambridge. Then my mother asked when I'll get her to move back in with me once I start working. (A note to all Western readers here - this is extremely common in India. Traditionally everyone lives with their parents forever, though now it's becoming less common, especially among Non-Residential Indians like us.) I said something along the lines of I hadn't really thought of it, but probably once I settle down with a family and have a house. My mother broke down screaming and crying, and berating my dad for not moving back to India and saying she regretted having not sent my butt back to boarding school in India when she had the chance. She yelled that this is what happens when you have a capable son. My father laughingly calmed her down and said that I just haven't become really familiar with Indian values, that they should talk about these things with me and of course I'll understand and agree - it's not like I'll oppose them. My mother, sniffling, eventually calmed down. They explained to me that they want me with them as soon as possible after college, saying it's my duty. I asked what if I don't have the money? Or need it for starting a business? Or something? Basically their only answer was it's your duty to do so, and we'll pay for ourselves. I plan to settle in Switzerland btw, and if I'm earning I can afford myself - but there's no way I can afford two retirees who've given so much money for my college anyway.
I just agreed with them so we can settle down and sleep, but now I'm sure I don't want them to move in with me for a long time. I would eventually want them nearby, but "at arm's length" if you get what I mean. There's no way I'm telling them that now - they "love" me so much they'll probably cut of my funding and send me to a local university, which is dogsh*t. Here in this African country there are basically no opportunities and my Cambridge admission and funding is my ticket out of here. And they hold that ticket, so for now I have to appease them. I also lack skills of independence - financial planning, cooking (I know a few things but still lots to learn), time management, and more. They stifle my growth simply with their presence and what they believe is completely normal - things like checking my phone basically daily, having access to all my social media, email, LinkedIn, Slack, Notion, everything. Once I move away I plan to log them off in the first few weeks with the excuse of enabling two-factor authentication. My dad is a cybersecurity enthusiast so he'll agree. Once I'm on my own I'll learn how to actually live, and once I start earning I won't need to appease them. Of course, I will gradually return the money for college and will support them as a son should - but from a distance. I really don't want to live with them for the rest of my life, they'll make my life horrible with their incessant squabbles.
Also there's the problem of marriage - I don't want to have an arranged marriage, I want to have a proper dating and courtship period like normal people. But my parents are stuck in the ancient systems of them introducing girls to me and me just agreeing or disagreeing in basically a handul of meetings. But that's no way to find the love of your life, the person you'll literally have to commit to forever! My parents had an arranged marriage and agreed just because their parents said so - they didn't even meet each other. Look how that turned out - my dad had skills but little ambition so he's now stuck at a job he hates, delaying his retirements until I start earning. My mom is full of ambition but left her job to look after me (not under pressure of my father, but under pressure of her own preconceived societal notions) and now can't even find a job in a place like this. My parents are really mismatched in my opinion, but they've grown to care for each other so I guess opposites attract? Idk, they've never shown any affection to each other ever. Like they never hold hands or hug or kiss or anything, it seems like they're roommates. To me it seems like they just have platonic love. I don't want a marriage like that - I want to find someone I truly care about, who I look at and my heart melts every day, someone who drives me to become the best version of myself so I can make her happier. Not someone who my parents deemed "of the appropriate caste, appropriate horoscope, appropriate job and salary, and appropriate appearance - good job, you found a wife." My parents and I did discuss how my marriage will occur briefly, but we haven't come to a conclusion. I wasn't firm in my beliefs to not put them off so we didn't really conclude.
So what do I do? I really don't want to cut them off - we did have our moments, like my dad and I climbing Mt Kilimanjaro to celebrate my 18th birthday (my mom yelled at us both when we came back - saying I didn't know if my only son was even alive when he turned 18 due to network, how dare you etc etc). But anyway we did have our moments and I do love and care for them deeply. But I need room to spread my wings and find myself, and they seem determined to trap me in worse and worse ways. To some they might seem narcissistic, but then why are they supporting me with my Cambridge fees and encouraging me to take on the world? To some they might seem encouraging but then why did my mom say that if I need to abandon my future business just so I have the means to support them "when" they move in with me (it's a fact of life according to them)? And why is my dad always switching quietly enabling her, supporting me, yelling at me, yelling at her, and doing nothing? I'm really confused. I need help to understand how I should approach this situation. All I know is I can't clear the air before I can stand on my own feet, because they will cut off my funding. So what and when and how do I do? Please help. (Burner account so they can't find me - and they're never on Reddit anyway :D)

2024.05.23 12:00 m_paranoid Am I really going into comfort zone or just overthinking?

Hi all, so the thing is iam a 2023 graduate. I got campus placement at a service based company for 6LPA. I joined that company and after training I’m working from client location as a data analyst. The client is a big PBC. The team is got here is very good i would say the best that i can get. My manager at this PBC always tells me maintain work life balance, not to work on weekends or after work hours in any condition. He also focuses on my learning aspect and ask me to communicate with other teams to gain some more business context. And the work is also pretty chill here most of the time. I can take leaves without any problems, can take WFH. I don’t have any communication with my actual company other than salary so it is pretty chill scene here. And the role is also very good as i directly communicate with the company leadership team on day to day basis. And everyone here is pretty happy from my work. From past few days I’m having a feeling that I’m going to a comfort zone. I have heard so many horrible story of toxic workplace and manager that I’m very fearful to even apply for other jobs. I’m happy to continue with this job bt I don’t see any growth in terms of salary here. What should I do?

2024.05.23 11:55 speedblah0105 Best friend didn't communicate then decided to end the friendship earlier in the year, still feeling the pain.

My best friend of the last few years started ignoring my messages earlier in the year when he was busy. I tried to reach out but then he said I was being intrusive, we were drifting apart and we weren't able to be friends anymore. It's been a few months of hell but I'm still feeling the pain.
We met over a mutual hobby a few years ago and quickly became really good friends. The type where we could chat all day long, from the completely mundane things to the most important things in life. He quickly became my best friend where I felt I could be carefree and myself around him. I trusted him and told him things I've never told anyone else and we helped each other through troubles in life. He made it clear, especially through COVID that I was appreciated.
We had some issues in the past when he started changing his patterns and being distant. I didn't react well to that but we resolved it and moved on. Then last year, I introduced him to a job at the place I worked and things slowly repaired itself. Fast forward to the beginning of the year, he started a new course which was going to be rather difficult. I wanted to be there for him but knew he needed space. I wasn't expecting him to respond to messages as much but we went from talking to each other on most days to it going 3 weeks without a reply. After he replied (it was a very brief reply) I said respectfully, that I know you're busy and don't expect you to be around all the time, but it didn't feel good to be ignored for so long. Then it went quiet again, each week would go by and nothing. I could see him interacting with other's posts online but I was still being ignored. I didn't reach out much, normally just once a week to see if he was ok, I was concerned by the silence, I didn't know if he was struggling in his course (and I wanted him to know it was ok to talk to me about it) or if I had messed up.
Then finally one day he responds, says I was intrusive and wasn't giving him space, that we had drifted apart and effectively couldn't be friends anymore.
I know I'm in the wrong with part of it, and I feel horrible that I hurt him. At the same time, I was reaching out because I cared and wanted to make sure he was ok. It was clear that he had time for others but not for me. If he needed space, I wish he would have just told me and I would have respected it, rather than bottle it up and end the friendship. I wish he had just communicated. In hindsight I realised he's probably an avoidant and I'm an anxious type but that realisation was too late.
His silence and decision hurt me and still does. I'll respect his wishes but I hate it. I had no say in this and I truly feel that whilst things weren't great, all we had to do was talk through this and it could be resolved. I felt we were beneficial to each other and could help each other navigate the thing that is life.
I feel like you try to be the best you can be, but that's not enough, you care for people but no one cares for you. I wonder how I can trust again, how I can be myself again. I know one day I can, but it's hard.
Whilst I hate what he decided, I don't hate him; I don't hold it against him. I still want the best for him.
I live in hope that one day he might realise how stupid he was. I've seen him recently as hes back in the office going casual work and whilst we're cordial to each other it's clear he doesn't want anything to do with me. I've reached out to say hi but that's about it. The days I see him the pain comes back, maybe it's my own fault that I'm still holding on and maybe I'm being a fool for thinking one day I can be his friend again. I remember the good days we had and half the time I smile, half the time I sigh in sadness. I still ultimately care for him and don't have it in me to villainise him so that I no longer care that I'm not his friend: he's not a bad person. Ultimately, whilst I might not be his friend, he still is mine.
I don't have many other friends, and certainly no one that I'm as close to. I know I should move on but it's hard to pick up the pieces. Making new friends is much easier said than done. Whilst I try to avoid it, I can't help but think about this situation we're inmost days.
I know this is something must of us have felt and probably isn't anything out of the ordinary here. To everyone else, I feel the pain and it's crap. I'm writing this more for myself but if anyone has any advice or things to share, please go ahead. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.23 11:55 DiegoDynomite I know this won't be received well but I feel compelled to say something

As a worker, it is not your responsibility to defend the company whenever it gets criticized. Amazon is not your friend. If they could have it their way, they'd have you living in company towns, shopping in company owned stores, paying you in swag bucks instead of actual money and controlling everything you do.
If you see one of your fellow workers being critical of the wages, breaks, benefits, or general working conditions, why do some of you feel the need to defend amazon when they are a trillion-dollar company? This isn't some mom-and-pop business that's on the verge of bankruptcy, Amazon is thriving, and we deserve more for our contributions.
"The wages are better than lots of other jobs"- Thats not really saying much when wages are bad everywhere. Infact, that's setting the bar pretty low. Especially considering that with our help, Amazon makes hundreds of billions of dollars a year.
"If you don't like it here, then get a job somewhere else."- Why should we go on a hunt for better working conditions instead of just advocating for better working conditions at this job? Thats playing right into Amazons hands. They'd much rather get rid of you instead of having you around to call them out on their BS and getting a better deal. Thats part of why they do career choice. It's an incentive to get people in the building and a pathway to get them out before they get frustrated enough to try disrupting the status quo.
"You can't have longer breaks because people will abuse them."- I don't see the logic in this. The reason why people go over their break time now is because they aren't getting enough time to actually rest. So, if we had longer breaks, it should lead to a decrease in "time theft". Even if it didn't, leave it to the company to punish the people who go over their break time. Its not your job to worry about that.
"People are lazy."- Yeah, being treated like a number or an expendable cog tends to leave people feeling pretty unmotivated. Especially when any complaint they have is dismissed and hard work is rewarded with more hard work. Also, working harder than other people doesn't make you better than them.
All I'm trying to get across here is that if you are a worker, when you dismiss the critiques of your fellow workers, you're advocating against your best interest for no good reason.

2024.05.23 11:50 ElectricalLeek5 SWE Job vs Research Assistant Job

I recently got lucky and have received an offer from
  1. Bechtel Application Engineering - 96k/yr + relocation
  2. Research Assistant position An AI lab in the college I studied in Singapore. (It's not NUS/NTU)
My goal is to pursue an MS CS in 2 years and I'm wondering how best to improve my resume to get into a good (T10) program.
My resume currently - SWE internships at SAP and Publicis Sapient, one 2nd author pub in an A* conference and another paper to be submitted next month. This work was done in the lab I'm getting an RA position in. (I know I would get a strong LOR from the Prof even if I went to work somewhere else). I believe an important step in this process will be doing some part-time research for a another lab that will help me get another academic LOR.
Bechtel Application engineering:
  1. Full-stack Application development
  2. Good pay. RA pays nowhere close.
  3. I like the US
Research Assistant position
  1. Not exactly sure what the work is, but my PI suggested it will most likely be related to designing annotation processes for annotation and human evaluation of large hateful memes datasets. It might be possible that the work is better aligned to my interests,
  2. I approached the Professor for opportunities in this lab and while I haven't been given a formal offer yet, I think the assumption is that I will be joining the lab. My PI has suggested in the past that I continue applying and interviewing for other jobs until a formal offer arrives.
  3. A few of my friends say an RA position will look better on a resume for MS CS than SWE at a firm that is not really a product-based company
  4. I'm counting on this Prof to give me a strong LOR for my MS application. I don't want to piss him off by taking this new offer.
  5. My PI has advised me not to stay in the RA position for longer than a year. Which will mean I need to look for jobs again in the coming cycle. This cycle was very rough on me and I don't know if I will get lucky like this again.
I need some help in deciding between the two. Which position will look better on a Master's application. Will I piss off the prof? Finally, (SWE + part-time research + GRE) or (RA + part-time research (more research LOL) + GRE prep + job hunting). I'm also open to hearing out opinions on whether so much research is needed.
THANKS

2024.05.23 11:48 guiltyofnothing “You are obviously male and probably bald and do not understand the art that Hair is” Gratuitous insults over gratuities as /r/tipping debates ending tipping

The Context:

/tipping is a sub dedicated to “discussions about U.S. tipping traditions.” OOP makes a post asking how people can practically end tipping culture.
The sub appears fairly split in response, with a lively debate ensuing.

The Drama:

A fundamental question is asked:
You should get a tip because you had to do your job?
So also because I’m a Hairstylist, I don’t deserve a tip? We are paid accordingly to tipping. There are many restaurants that are paying people higher and charging more because they’re no longer accepting people tipping and that’s fine.
No, you don't deserve a tip for simply doing the job you were hired for. However, if your client feels like you provided excellent service then they have the option to tip you as they see fit. A tip is something you earn, not something you are entitled to.
Also believe me, even if you’re picking it up, I promise you having been a server in many of these situations we do deserve the tip we’ve put in a lot of labor behind the scenes and you guys never see it stocking all of the stuff that we put your food in and you think it’s we’re doing our job but they pay us because America doesn’t recognize minimum wage with tips we are paid lower because we are tipped
Complain to your employer or get a different job. That is not the customers problem. You know the role of the job you were applying for and how much the wage was when you were hired on.
[Continued:]
You are seriously delusional. I hope no one spits in your food.
See, I kinda hope someone does spit in his food, even though I know it's really extremely rare. I really do hope next time they order take out from a sit-down restaurant where they refuse to tip, they have a long ride home, getting stuck in traffic extra long, so the food is off temperature just long enough to still look, smell and taste fine, but have just enough bacteria to give them some terrible, but temporary, gastrointestinal distress. I think a day or 2 of intense cramping, explosive diarrhea, and projectile vomiting would be fitting karma.
That is a definite sign of professionalism.
[…]
You are obviously male and probably bald and do not understand the art that Hair is
One person has a simple solution:
If you're having control issues just don't out to eat.lol y'all wild.
Based on your level of grammar, I have to assume you are a server. No one else can survive being this clueless.
You lost me here, this was completely uncalled for.
You are a seriously arrogant prick.
Recently retired as a server. Made $40-60/hr. How 'bout you?
Based on your level of inconsideration, I have to assume you are a piece of shit
Based on your manners. You a bitch
Accusations of dishonesty are levied:
There's a social obligation to tip. And remember, if you plan on revisiting a restaurant where you stiff the servers, expect terrible service.
There is absolutely no obligation to do so, but if you are delusional enough to believe it, go ahead and keep tipping.
Because of the wack tipping culture in America, I rarely go out to eat, and when I do, it’s almost always a fine dining experience, where the servers deserve to be tipped for above and beyond service for good wine recommendations, a table we asked for, and willing to make me or my guests something off the menu for dietary needs/restrictions. Otherwise, I prefer to cook and eat at home.
I served for decades. Made $2.13/hr wage, $40-$60/hr tips. I wasn't referring to tip jars. Please don't add to the hate.
Ah… the $2.13 LIE.
When you lie about your wage we can not believe anything else you say.
What'd I lie about now?
[Continued:]
If you make less than the Federal Minimum Wage your employer is MANDATED BY FEDERAL LAW to pay you the difference. So you never walk home making $2.13 an hour.
It’s never the customers’ fault that you ASKED for that job.
In every restaurant I've ever worked, the second time you put in for wage compensation, you're fired. Stop making like you discovered something. That bullshit is not an option. You're just showing your ignorance.
You are still to be paid minimum wage as dictated by Federal law.
You need to stand up for yourself. I don’t know the name for someone like that.
A server pushes back:
You tell the person serving you at the start of the meal that you don’t believe in tipping, because you are strong in your convictions and beliefs, and not a coward. As a server, I will take your order, bring your food and drink, and drop the check, and that’s absolutely it. I won’t refill your drinks, explain anything on the menu, modify your order, ask if you want anything else, bus your table, or speak to you in any manner. Sound good?
Just toss a few coins on the table so she knows you didn’t forget.
Again, I expect cowardice moves from cowards. Big flex, Big Guy.
38 cents - buy yourself something nice. 😘
Least I don’t have to work constantly like you do to passively aggressively show my dominance. LMAO
[Continued:]
“Work” 😂LMFAO🤣
I guess when a person fetches food they think making sure the coins land next to the dirty plates instead of the floor is “work.” 😂💸💸
Exactly, I work 25 hrs a week, it’s nice. Lots more to do in life. Like go to the beach and travel. But let me tell you, I’ll be super sad at the beach thinking about how you dominated me with that coin comment. Gee whiz, hope I can get through the day off.
“Work” 😂🤣
The beach sucks. Please spend every minute you can in the sun.
If I wasn’t in your head you would stop replying. 🤣
Back at you. And I’m too pale to be in the direct sun.
[…]
I won’t refill your drinks, explain anything on the menu, modify your order, ask if you want anything else, bus your table, or speak to you in any manner
It's funny that you think I care. I tip you out of pity. Not because you are providing a great service I can't live without. You are worthless. Try to remember that the next time you demand tips.
Honestly, it would be so much easier if all servers are shitheads like you. If I knew you are my server, I would never tip a single penny. Unfortunately, there are a few nice servers.
It’s funny you think I care what you think. Oh no, own_solution7820 pities me. Whatever will I do!
Wow, what a brilliant comeback. I misjudged you. You might actually be as smart as a 4 year old.
One user is called out and things get personal:
Raven is acting like it’s their restaurant bc someone isn’t tipping them. I was a server for over a decade. You win and lose some. I usually won bc I was outstanding and my service indirectly demanded compensation. If I don’t receive it, upset yes but this entitled attitude like you own the joint is part of the problem. Yes you are going to go over the menu, and yes you will answer simple questions. At the end maybe you get a tip. It’s how the business model works.
LOL. You obvi didn’t read well bc I get maybe 5 non tippers a calendar year, work 25 hours a week, and travel often. My tip average is 19%. All I said was have the balls to admit your stance from the beginning, but of course, y’all don’t have the backbone for that. Just keyboard warriors!
Your BF broke up with you for a reason it seems.
You’re an example of a keyboard warrior. I read it all. I’ve served and have my opinion. Made the point to that you think you own the place. And you contradict yourself by saying it doesn’t matter yet give a scenario where you give them no service. It’s not your choice that’s what you’re missing. You’re a replaceable employee not the owner. We all are replaceable at our jobs, you just seem entitled.
Yet still there making good money.
they’re not there. You’re the second server I’ve seen on Reddit today who has improper grammar yet expects to be paid like a professional with a college degree. Wowza.
[Continued:]
Are you out of your mind? LMAO. I work THERE. Not I work THEY ARE. Dumb ass. Amazing.
Two users bicker, with one nuking their comments:
Tipping has gotten out of hand. I'm a stylist of almost 40 years, my clients do tip me because I always remember things about them and act on that. The guy that's a mechanic gets an extra neck massage during shampoo. The gal that just got done teaching a workout class gets a bottle of water that I pay for out of my own pocket. The list goes on for each client.
tip for me, not for thee. got it.
You don't get it. Those who go over and above deserve tips. Got it now?
Edit: when in doubt, delete your comment so it looks like the one who is describing you is actually saying what you said
Hard disagree. Good service is tionwoethy in many professions. By your logic a taxi driver or Uber driver who is quiet and gets you there efficiently gets no tip because they are doing their job. They don’t have repeat customers like you do when giving people a massage. Bartenders also who do their job and get me a drink. I don’t need them flirting or whatever above and beyond in your mind is for that job. Good service and tip. Yes I know you and many people would refuse to tip for those services which is your right
Where did you get flirting from, are you crazy?
You specifically said you don’t tip for doing a job. You said someone has to go above and beyond to get a tip to another person questioning your comments. Many bartenders do flirt for tips, if you don’t think that is true you are the crazy one ma’am. There are so many jobs that deserve a tip for doing their service. One doesn’t need to go above and beyond in these roles for a tip which you say is the only reason to tip and what they are designed for. Hence my comment that hard disagree with your original statement. I can do without any of that just do your job and it’s a tip
I absolutely did not say that i don't tip, I said it's getting out of hand. And if you think I'm a bartender, you're the crazy one, ma'am.
[Continued:]
Well since you deleted your comments that I cited I can’t show them back to you. But you said how tipping is out of control. As a hair stylist you will give people massages or get them a water / that is going above and beyond and tip worthy. No question it is. You also said doing basic service shouldn’t be tipped and tips are designed specifically for going above and beyond. My whole point is I hard disagree with you, take the taxi or Uber or bartender example - I tip for doing the job efficiently and don’t even try to go above and beyond that’s not what I want. Some will agree with you only to tip on exceptional (above and beyond service) and others may agree with me that tips are designed only for those going above and beyond and doing a service correctly can be tipped too
I did say tipping is out of control, I never denied that. I agree with you about the Uber, taxi thing that you've repeated a few times, for me it's the picking up a muffin at a counter and there's a tip jar, for what? That's what I'm referring to. You said I was a bartender, I'm not. Geez, I didn't know that I'd have to go in such full detail for you.
And I deleted those comments because I was sick of you taking it the wrong way not making myself clear enough for you and you putting words in my mouth. I never said I don't tip.
Well, my new pen pal, it's late and I no longer have the time to write. I hope you see this before I delete all of this, you are being negative and hell-bent on thinking I mean things that I don't. I sincerely hope that it's not because you had a bad day, tomorrow is always better. I really do mean that, all the best to you and good night.

2024.05.23 11:47 kronmatron Reflections of the Abyss

🎵Blown Minded- Young Galaxy
“…Oh, I was born blown minded With an eye on oblivion”
I was singing along while doing my hair in front of the mirror. My laptop was open, and I was watching one of Chris Cornell’s 2015 interviews. I didn’t really care what he was saying; it was just nice to watch him.
A silly thought crossed my mind. “If Choronzon had a form, and if that form was him, would I follow it into the abyss?” I started laughing to myself. “You would, you idiot. You wouldn’t just follow it; you’d jump right in…”
A great master once said, “Lovers are brave…” Maybe I needed a bit of love. But when I thought about physical love, it made me uneasy. The idea of a boyfriend was suffocating. The idea of a husband was like being buried alive. My life, once filled with tsunamis, had become a calm sea since Covid, and I wasn’t done enjoying it yet. I didn’t want action. Besides, even in this calm state, I had enough energy to create action wherever I went. As someone who found herself at the edge of the universe at night, killed demons as a side job, and was chased by the abyss in the morning, how much more action could I handle?
Was my life peaceful but flavorless? The best person to talk to about this was Sera. After all, she was a revolutionary mother trying to have her child without a man in her life. After I finished getting ready, I took my coffee and went out to the back balcony to call Sera. She was quite clear on this topic.
Sera: Girl… Men are just headaches, really…
M. Besant: Right? I mean, I think about what they can add to my life, and it’s nothing… Absolutely nothing!
Sera: After making my own child, they’re really unnecessary for me… I don’t know about you, but I’ve closed that file for good.
M. Besant: Absolutely, it’s just drama… If you have nothing better to do after 40, put up with their drama… No, I’ve closed that file too. It’s nice like this. Yes, maybe a bit flavorless, but my life is peaceful.
Sera: Peace is the most important thing. I think it's more important than happiness.
M. Besant: Exactly!
I relaxed and hung up the phone, then grabbed my bag and left. … After picking up Berrin and the twins with my car that seemed ready to break down any minute, we went to a place a bit far from the center with luxury restaurants and cafes. First, we sat in a cafe and had a coffee. We had a lot to catch up on. Then, since the girls were hungry, we changed places and sat in a gourmet burger joint. I wasn’t hungry, so I just ordered wine. After a glass of wine, I excused myself to go to the restroom.
Although the restroom was covered in pitch-black marble, the lighting prevented it from feeling claustrophobic. The only problem was that the black marble reminded me of the void of space.
I felt a bit uneasy while washing my hands. Sometimes, I don’t pay much attention to my surroundings. That’s probably why I hadn’t noticed I was standing between two parallel mirrors... After washing my hands, I looked up and noticed my infinite reflection in the mirror. At that moment, it felt as if time had stopped for me. I found myself trying to reach the deepest reflection, where it ended, and for some reason, I felt like I could see Choronzon there.
🎵Lost in Space - Audio Decor Sound Effects
“…draw near, let me behold thy face O, angel of decay, delight in entropy”
I started murmuring my own poem like a prayer. I was sure he was there, hiding. If I could see him, I could determine where the last reflection was. The place of the last reflection was where the illusion ended, in other words, the exit. That’s why I had to see him.
“O demon of void, unfurl your wings…”
An irresistible urge rose inside me to draw the seal on the mirror with my lipstick. There was nothing to fear. We would eventually go there, why postpone it? To that abyss where all sorrows are thrown, to the depth of that fear of loneliness, to that point of nothingness, I would go, kill Choronzon, and reach the infinite light, God, and end this; or I would continue like everyone else, die and be reborn again and again. What was the point? While I was focused on that blurry point where the reflections faded away, my hand went to my bag, my fingers eagerly searching for my lipstick... Then the sound of the door snapped me out of a trance-like state.
A girl talking loudly on her phone and a friend entered. At first, I was angry that they had woken me up, then I felt grateful.
I looked at myself in the mirror again. “You’re a 160 cm tall girl. How many meters do you think you are to pass through the place that masters who have devoted years to purification, prayer, worship, meditation, and yoga have passed? Didn’t you have panic attacks in 2009? Didn’t you experience insomnia? Then 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020! Didn’t you lose in all of them?... This is a trap, there’s no exit there! You can’t even stand the smell of it without tranquilizers, idiot…” I muttered to myself, washed my face, collected myself, and went outside.

2024.05.23 11:46 bostonmovingcompany Best Moving Strategies: A Comprehensive Guide

Packing up a lifetime of memories and moving to a new home can be an emotional rollercoaster. For Sarah and John, this was especially true. They had lived in their charming Boston brownstone for over a decade, but with a new job opportunity in sunny Florida, it was time for a big change. The couple was overwhelmed by the daunting task ahead—sorting, packing, and transporting their belongings. But with some strategic planning and expert advice from Premium Q Moving and Storage, Sarah and John’s move was not only manageable but surprisingly smooth. This guide shares the best moving strategies they learned, helping countless families like yours make their move a seamless experience.

Why Strategic Planning is Crucial

Strategic planning is the backbone of any successful move. According to the American Moving & Storage Association, nearly 35.5 million Americans move annually. With so many people on the move, a solid plan can make the difference between chaos and calm. Here are the best moving strategies to ensure your transition is smooth and stress-free.

Best moving strategies:

1. Start Early

Why It’s Important
Starting early is one of the best moving strategies you can employ to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to your new home. By giving yourself ample time to sort through your belongings, you can make well-considered decisions about what to keep, donate, or sell. This proactive approach helps prevent the stress and chaos that often accompany last-minute packing. Procrastination can lead to hasty decisions, which not only increases the risk of damaging your valuables but also makes the entire moving process more overwhelming and less organized.
Tips for Getting Started

2. Declutter Before Packing

Why It’s Important
One of the best moving strategies to ensure a smoother and more efficient move is to declutter before you start packing. Moving is the perfect opportunity to go through your belongings and decide what you truly need and what you can let go of. Decluttering can significantly reduce the number of items you need to move, which in turn saves you time, money, and effort. Less stuff means fewer boxes to pack, transport, and unpack. It can also lower the cost of moving services, as most moving companies charge based on the volume of items or the total weight of the load.
Tips for Decluttering

3. Pack Strategically

Why It’s Important
One of the best moving strategies is to pack your belongings strategically. Proper packing is crucial for preventing damage to your items during transit and making the unpacking process much more manageable. Without a strategic approach, you risk ending up with broken items, a chaotic move, and a frustrating unpacking experience. Strategic packing ensures that your belongings are protected and that you can easily find what you need when you arrive at your new home.
Tips for Packing

4. Hire Professional Movers

Why It’s Important
One of the best moving strategies is to hire professional movers. Professional movers bring a wealth of expertise, efficiency, and resources that can make your move significantly easier. Their experience in handling various types of moves means they can anticipate and address potential issues before they become problems, ensuring a smoother transition. With professionals handling the heavy lifting, packing, and transportation, you can focus on other important aspects of your move, such as settling into your new home.
Tips for Hiring Movers

5. Protect Fragile Items

Why It’s Important
One of the best moving strategies is to ensure the protection of your fragile items. These delicate possessions require extra care to avoid breakage during the move. Fragile items, such as glassware, ceramics, and electronics, are susceptible to damage from even minor impacts. By implementing protective measures, you can safeguard these valuables and prevent costly replacements or repairs.
Tips for Protecting Fragile Items

6. Utilize Technology

Why It’s Important
Embracing technology is one of the best moving strategies to streamline the moving process and maintain organization. Modern moving apps and digital tools can significantly reduce the stress and complexity associated with moving by providing structure and accessibility to important information.
Tips for Using Technology

7. Stay Organized on Moving Day

Why It’s Important
Staying organized on moving day is one of the best moving strategies to minimize stress and ensure a smooth transition. An organized approach helps prevent chaos, keeps everyone on task, and ensures that nothing important is overlooked or forgotten.
Tips for Moving Day

8. Unpack Systematically

Why It’s Important
Unpacking systematically is one of the best moving strategies to help you settle into your new home quickly and comfortably. A methodical approach prevents overwhelm and ensures that your new space is organized from the start.
Tips for Unpacking

9. Set Up Your New Home

Why It’s Important
Setting up your new home quickly is one of the best moving strategies to reduce the chaos of moving and help you feel settled.
Tips for Setting Up

10. Take Care of Yourself

Why It’s Important
Moving can be physically and emotionally taxing. Taking care of yourself ensures you stay healthy and can handle the stress of moving.
Tips for Self-Care

🔗Super Bright Handheld Spotlight with Multiple Colors and Charging Options

https://preview.redd.it/nf974pu2d52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fcae8d425912dfe235cf963678d18580f00b351
Using a MIXILIN rechargeable spotlight in my backyard during a camping trip, I was truly awed by the brightness emitted by the handheld hunting flashlight. The high capacity rechargeable battery is a real plus as it eliminates the need for frequent battery changes and the included USB cable and solar panels give me options for charging. The IPX5 waterproof feature made me feel confident to take it on outdoor adventures, and the large, comfortable handle felt great in my hand.
However, I must admit the varying strobe and color options might be a bit excessive for my needs, and the flashing blue light could be distracting. Overall, the MIXILIN spotlight offers excellent brightness, flexibility in charging, and its rugged design makes it suitable for various environments.

🔗Cabela's 1,000-Lumen IPX7 Waterproof Spotlight for Coyote Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/g5lrdn33d52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7287df57e2859d67d6dddfc94c241417e44891f0
The Coyote Hunting Spotlight from Cabela's is a shining example of a reliable, powerful tool for hunting enthusiasts. With a 1,000-lumen output, this device easily tackles even the darkest conditions, making wildlife illuminate like they're basking in the summer sun.
Its IPX7 waterproof rating is a standout feature that ensures it's up for any adventure that takes you near water. Whether you're spot-lighting frogs, crayfish, or deer, you can trust this Coyote Hunting Spotlight to perform under pressure.
However, the switch that locks the beam in is less than ideal. It's not as smooth or intuitive as we'd expect, which can be frustrating in the heat of the moment. Also, the spotlight's rubber grip isn't as comfortable as it could be, making it a bit tricky to handle when you're in the middle of a hunt.
Overall, this is a powerful and waterproof tool, but it could do with some refinements in its locking mechanism and grip. Despite these drawbacks, it's a reliable light for any hunting or wildlife-spotting mission.

🔗Powerful Coyote Hunting Spotlight with 18 Million Candlepower

https://preview.redd.it/ub2jvzj3d52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c44fd4a0d36779987d81b1b952be337041acd9b3
The Cyclops Thor X Colossus Rechargeable Spotlight is an impressive piece of equipment designed for outdoor adventures, illuminating paths and providing powerful beams of light in the darkest of settings. Its durable rubberized construction makes it perfect for even the toughest conditions, while the adjustable stand allows for hands-free use, directing the light exactly where it's needed.
I've used the Cyclops Thor X Colossus for various purposes, including hiking trips and late-night camping excursions. The most striking feature is its 18 million candlepower, delivering an incredibly bright and focused beam. This level of brightness is crucial when navigating through unfamiliar terrain or when trying to spot wildlife at night.
One downside I noticed is that the spotlight's battery life isn't as long as I would have hoped. In low beam mode, it lasted only about 40 minutes, while high beam mode offered just 20 minutes of illumination. However, the included AC/DC adapter and 12V car plug adapter make recharging the device convenient, even when away from a power outlet.
Another issue I encountered was the bulky nature of the device. Its size made it uncomfortable to hold for extended periods, and I found myself using the removable shoulder strap to make it more ergonomic.
In conclusion, the Cyclops Thor X Colossus Rechargeable Spotlight is a powerful and functional device, providing a reliable source of light in various outdoor scenarios. While its battery life and bulkiness may be seen as drawbacks, the brightness and convenience it offers make it a valuable companion for any adventurer or outdoor enthusiast.

🔗Powerful 35W Xenon HID Spotlight/Floodlight for Coyote Hunting and Outdoor Adventure Lighting

The Goodsmann Tacticpro Spotlight is by far the most powerful 35W HID lamp on the market, offering an incredible beam distance of up to 850 meters. Constructed with durability in mind, this light boasts a robust ABS plastic casing and a rubber handle, providing a superior grip and comfort during long outdoor excursions. The light bulb gradually brightens to its full 2000 lumen potential within a minute, ensuring optimal illumination right from the start.
Designed as the perfect companion for various outdoor activities, the Goodsmann Tacticpro Spotlight stands out as a reliable, versatile, and high-performance lighting solution for avid hunters, campers, and adventurers alike. Equipped with a heavy gauge coiled cord, this spotlight can be easily plugged into a 12V socket, providing a convenient and efficient power source for all your outdoor adventures.
The Goodsmann Tacticpro 2000 lumens HID Spotlight is the ideal choice for lighting up your next journey, whether navigating the dense woods in search of the elusive Coyote or simply enjoying a quiet night beneath the stars. The spotlight's high-quality construction and impressive performance make it the ultimate go-to tool for all of your outdoor adventures.

When I heard about the Coyote Hunting Spotlight, promises of its brightness got me curious. I took it out during a camping trip, and my first impression was the ease of use. The 4 modes and rotatable light made it super versatile for various situations.
That being said, I also encountered some challenges. The spotlight is quite heavy, and I struggled to hold it steady while adjusting the focus in lower lighting conditions. Additionally, its waterproof design didn't seem as effective as I'd hoped when I accidentally knocked it into a puddle – perhaps a safer option would be to keep it away from direct water contact.
All in all, the Coyote Hunting Spotlight has its pros and cons. It shines (literally) as a useful tool for outdoor activities, but some design improvements could make it even more practical and durable.

🔗Coyote Hunting Spotlight with Tough ABS Construction

https://preview.redd.it/5cnll8u4d52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64e2eac2096f7409625b46bca3cab528974ae2dc
This Goodsmann Spotlight Camo Hunting Spot Light has been an essential element of my outdoor adventures. The 1500 lumens of brightness and its waterproof design made it perfect for those late night fishing trips or early morning hunts. It's easy to hang thanks to the metal bracket, and the impact-resistant ABS construction gives me the peace of mind that it won't break on the job.
The high-quality materials didn't go unnoticed, but there was a slight downside to its bulky size. It's not too big to hinder use, but it did require some careful storage when not in use. However, with the nylon-carrying bag and convenient on/off switch, this light has proven to be an invaluable tool on my adventures. Overall, the Goodsmann 1500 lumen spotlight is an excellent addition to any outdoor enthusiast's gear collection!

The Cyclops Waterproof Spotlight has become my trusty companion in the great outdoors. As a nature enthusiast, I often find myself in low-light environments, and this little beauty has made all the difference. Its multi-function design allows for both spotlight and lantern mode, perfect for my coyote hunting expeditions.
The front spotlight, powered by a 20W XHP50.2 Cree LED, is extremely bright and offers various brightness levels through a magnetic trigger switch. The back flood light, powered by a 6W Cree XP-G3 LED, serves as an additional source of light when needed. The lightweight and durable construction make it a perfect companion for long hikes.
However, I do miss the option to switch the light between spotlight and lantern mode without removing the lens cover, which could cause a bit of inconvenience at times. But overall, this versatile and powerful waterproof spotlight has proven to be a game-changer in my outdoor adventures.

As I began using the High Noon Power Pro Compact Spotlight in my outdoor adventures, I couldn't help but marvel at its exceptional waterproof design. The spotlight's ability to provide 680 yards of light, even in wet and submerged situations, has become a game-changer for my coyote hunting experience. With its Power Bank feature, being able to charge other USB devices on the go is a fantastic additional perk.
The spotlight's high-impact polymer housing and rubber lens ring were particularly noteworthy in my experience, providing the necessary protection against accidental drops. The fact that it's both waterproof and submersible is a great asset, especially when I'm exploring diverse terrains. Additionally, the built-in low battery indicator that turns red while charging, green when fully charged, and amber when the battery has 20% or less capacity is convenient for ensuring consistency during my adventures.
One of the most impressive features of the High Noon Power Pro Compact Spotlight is its ability to be used continuously without recharging, thanks to its compatibility with 110V AC or 12V DC power through the included USB cable and vehicle adaptor. This versatility proves invaluable when I'm out exploring for long periods of time. Although the spotlight offers a limited number of brightness modes, the high, low, and flashing modes are quite adequate and useful for varying situations.
While the High Noon Power Pro Compact Spotlight is a reliable and durable piece of equipment, there are a few minor inconveniences. For instance, the weight with batteries is slightly heavier than what I'd prefer for extended use, and the folding stand could use a few more angles for more flexibility. However, overall, this powerful, waterproof, and versatile spotlight has undoubtedly earned its place as a valuable companion on my coyote hunting adventures.

Buyer's Guide

Coyote hunting is a popular pastime for many outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're a novice hunter or an experienced dog trainer, choosing the right spotlight can make all the difference in your success on the hunt. In this guide, we'll explore the important features and considerations to look for when purchasing a coyote hunting spotlight.

Feature 1: Brightness

The most important aspect of a coyote hunting spotlight is its brightness. A spotlight that doesn't produce enough light will struggle to locate and track coyotes, especially in low-light or nighttime conditions. Look for spotlights that can output between 200-1000 lumens of light, as these will offer the best balance of brightness and affordability.

Feature 2: Beam Distance

https://preview.redd.it/44cgihnbd52d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77faeab63f795449897d7d8d002110055834baea
Another critical factor to consider when purchasing a coyote hunting spotlight is its beam distance. This refers to the distance the light will project forward. A longer beam distance ensures that the light will stay focused on coyotes that may be farther away. Look for spotlights with at least 200-500 yards of beam distance to ensure you can spot coyotes at a safe and effective distance.

Feature 3: Durability

Coyote hunting can be a grueling and unpredictable activity. Your spotlight will need to be durable enough to withstand extreme weather conditions, shock and recoil, and frequent use. Consider investing in a spotlight with a durable, water-resistant housing and a sturdy, scratch-resistant lens. This will help ensure that your spotlight is reliable and long-lasting.

Feature 4: Energy Source

Spotlights come in various energy sources, including rechargeable batteries, disposable batteries, and solar power. Evaluate your specific needs and habits when choosing an energy source. Rechargeable batteries can save money in the long run but may require more frequent charging if you use your spotlight frequently. Disposable batteries offer convenience but may result in more frequent battery replacements and additional expenses. Solar-powered spotlights are eco-friendly but may not be suitable for all locations and weather conditions.

Consideration 1: Budget

A good starting point for choosing a coyote hunting spotlight is determining your budget. Spotlights come in a wide range of prices, from affordable options under $50 to high-end models that can cost hundreds of dollars. Decide on a budget that works for you and narrow down your options accordingly.

Consideration 2: Hunting Frequency

Consider how often you plan to use your spotlight. If you hunt frequently, you may benefit from investing in a higher-end, more durable spotlight. If you hunt infrequently, a more affordable option may suffice. Consider the level of wear and tear your spotlight may experience over time and choose one that can handle it.

Consideration 3: Portability

Coyote hunting often requires traveling to remote locations, which means you'll need a spotlight that's easy to carry. Look for spotlights with lightweight, compact designs and a sturdy carrying strap. This will help make your hunting experience more enjoyable and efficient.

Advice: Practice Proper Aiming Technique

Practicing proper aiming techniques is crucial for successful coyote hunting. A spotlight can help you pinpoint your target, but ultimately, your aim will determine the outcome. Make sure you practice your aiming skills in a safe and controlled environment before heading out on the hunt. This will help you improve your accuracy and increase your chances of a successful hunt.

Advice: Check Local Regulations

Before using a spotlight for coyote hunting, make sure to check local regulations and laws. Some areas may have restrictions or require specific permits for the use of spotlights. Familiarizing yourself with the rules in your area will help you avoid potential legal issues and ensure a safe and enjoyable hunting experience.

Additional Resources

For more information on choosing the best coyote hunting spotlight, consult local hunting clubs or outdoor retailers.
