BASIC INFO

Name: Thomas Matthew Hartley
Age: 16
Gender: Male
D.O.B: 13th April 2023
Birthplace: London, England
Nationality: British
Godrent: Aphrodite
Significant family:
Adoptive mother: Veronica Hartley, 42
Adoptive father: Alan Hartley, 44
Twin brother: Harvey Hartley, 16

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Faceclaim: Art/Picrews
Features: Tommy may not look like a typical macho Hollywood hunk, but his delicately angular and distinctive features endow him instead with a uniquely pretty look. Of particular note are his eyes: big, slightly wide-set, a little downturned, and baby blue. All this, along with the rest of his unconventional style, makes for a rather striking appearance. Tommy is also blessed with a perennial smile that ebbs between relaxed and radiant.
Height: 5'8" — about an inch shorter than his brother, although this gap is often bridged thanks to his taste in shoes.
Build: Slender and lean.
Hair: Tommy's hair is probably one of his favourite things. He dedicates a great amount of care and attention to it. Though naturally brown, he's been dyeing it blond for a few years now, and will on occasion add various other pops of colour. It's currently in a stylishly tousled, layered style that just reaches his shoulders when loose.
Clothes/style: Tommy is nothing if not a fashionista. He will flit artfully between a wide variety of fashion movements, never quite committing to a single one, though he has a particular love for 2000s and 1970s aesthetics (from Y2K to glam rock and disco). He also often takes inspiration from hippie, punk, emo, grunge, and otherwise alt or vintage fashion, but he's adventurous in his style (and only getting more so with time) and he doesn't like to limit himself. Most of his clothes have been thrifted or bought secondhand, with some customised or even constructed by himself.
Accessories: Numbering many and of a great variety. A common one is makeup: frequently eyeliner, sometimes nail polish, and occasionally things like lip gloss or eyeshadow.
Necklaces, chains, scarves, hats, belts, bracelets, rings, and tinted glasses make frequent appearances in his looks. Tommy has his ears pierced and usually wears small hoops or studs, but he also owns a few pairs of more intricate earrings.
Gender expression: Androgynous. While he doesn't seek to present himself as anything but male, he doesn't shy away from incorporating more feminine elements into his appearance.

PERSONALITY

Like many of his godly siblings, Tommy is a vain creature: he's never happier than when he's prettying himself up or achieving a perfect look. This can come hand in hand with a tendency for being self-absorbed, although his selfishness comes more from a habit of forgetting he’s not the only person in the world than having any malicious intent — he's a kind person when he’s not distracted by something shiny or his own self (which is pretty shiny). Getting distracted by something shiny is a common occurrence with Tommy, whose flighty nature means he can struggle with commitment (whether to tasks, plans, interests, or people).
Tommy is admittedly a little ditzy. He's not a fan of academia, nor of thinking too hard about anything in general, tying into his carefree approach to life. He is a remarkably laidback and cheerful person whose tendency to not sweat the little things can lead to irresponsibility. He's got a habit of ignoring problems and responsibilities and shirking hard work in favour of things more enjoyable; he’d rather have a good time now than worry about whatever consequences might come later. He can also sometimes be quite naïve. Overall, he is a friendly social butterfly with a fun-loving streak.

OTHER

Theme(s): TBD
Sexuality: Heterosexual, although he's currently not 100% sure. He's only ever been interested in girls, but the way some people assume he isn't straight (and his general openness to new things) has made him consider experimenting a little.
Voice/accent: A London accent. His voice is typically quite mellow and relaxed.
Mannerisms & habits: Tommy can often be seen playing with his hair, or just idly fidgeting in general. His body language is usually playful and casual. You'll frequently find him chewing gum. Tommy is right-handed.
Interests/hobbies:
Fashion: The way to Tommy's heart is through clothes. He lives for getting new clothes, going thrifting, styling outfits, wearing them, and generally being as fashionable as possible (although his style may skew alternative/unconventional).
Music: Tommy has dreams of being a pop and/or rock star. A teen idol. Admittedly, these dreams are more motivated by a desire to be famous than passion for music, but he does genuinely love music and performing it. He mostly sings, which he is quite good at (though not groundbreakingly so).
Misc.:
Powers:
• Enhanced Beauty
Tommy always looks perfect. It could be down to the care he puts into his looks, but it's probably also the passive power that staves off cosmetic flaws and steers his physical state in the best possible direction, no matter whatever other factors in his life: for example, his skin is always clear and glowing; his hair is always beautiful and healthy-looking; his face never looks tired, or blotchy, or puffy — he always looks as flawless and radiant and as best he possibly can.
• Alluring Aura
When Tommy's alluring aura power is activated, all those within the area of effect will find him remarkably attractive and charming. Any existing feelings of the sort — which are not uncommon anyway, really — are greatly amplified. People within 15 feet will find him more strikingly beautiful than they might otherwise, and may also feel subtly drawn to him, or more generally inclined to like him. Different people may be affected in different ways, and some more than others; the general intensity of the effect can also vary.
This aura effect activates unconsciously, triggered by all manner of situations: feeling certain emotions, meeting someone new, seeing someone attractive, the desire to charm or win someone over, the desire for attention and validation... Tommy is not aware of the power. He thinks he's just naturally like that.
• Flower Manipulation
Tommy can control and manipulate flowers, including flowering vines, which he can grow from seeds or existing plants and use to wrap around targets to bind, restrain, or grab.
• Glitter Generation
Tommy has the ability to manifest glitter, including edible glitter and glitter glue but not sequins.
• Persuasion, Cosmetic and Fashion Proficiency
Tommy is naturally adept with the skills involved in persuasion and beautification, such as cosmetics and fashion.
• Animal Affinity
All creatures tend to be naturally friendly to Tommy.

BASIC INFO

Name: Harvey Bruno Hartley
Age: 16
Gender: Male
D.O.B: 13th April 2023
Birthplace: London, England
Nationality: British
Godrent: Aphrodite
Significant family:
Adoptive mother: Veronica Hartley, 42
Adoptive father: Alan Hartley, 44
Twin brother: Thomas Hartley, 16

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Faceclaim: Art/Picrews
Features: Although he and his identical twin should have identical faces, Harvey and Tommy do not look exactly alike. Perhaps this is down to Tommy's beauty-related powers which Harvey lacks, or perhaps it's a result of the accident Harvey had in childhood that broke his nose and jaw. This resulted in a lopsidedness to his chin and a crookedness to his nose that disrupts the symmetry of his face and the natural delicateness of his features. He is also afflicted by acne in a way that has spared his brother, and is insistently growing a terrible moustache, which at this point only amounts to a few wispy wayward hairs.
Height: 5'9" — an inch taller than his twin, which he likes to lord over him.
Build: Less fit than his more athletic brother, although they share the same slight frame.
Hair: Harvey sports his natural hair colour, which is brown. Unlike his brother, he does not devote much energy to his hair; he's stuck with the same style for years (which Tommy has long reviled as unflattering), and it always seems to end up limp, greasy, or scruffy.
Clothes/style: Harvey is not concerned with the trivialities of fashion. His clothes are generally plain and practical, so expect basic t-shirts (usually long-sleeved), hoodies, jeans, and joggers. The most adventurous fashion choice he makes is wearing turtlenecks, because they make him feel like a writer.
Accessories: Numbering few. Harvey doesn't typically accessorise, but he usually wears a watch.
Gender expression: Masculine.

PERSONALITY

Harvey does not fit in with his cabin mates.
While many of his siblings are preoccupied with matters of appearance and fashion, Harvey rejects such frivolities, espousing a strong distaste for shallow, meaningless things and favouring matters of intellectual substance and poetic beauty rather than superficial. This, unfortunately, can make him come across as pretentious. He's secretly (well... he thinks it's secretly) desperate to be seen as an intelligent, profound, and sophisticated individual — both an intellectual and an artist — and his attempts to embody this are not always the smoothest. In fact, he can be quite awkward: socialising does not come to him as effortlessly as it does to his brother.
Harvey is a dedicated person who can be very hard-working and conscientious. He is typically quite responsible and a lot more sensible than his twin, though maturity may sometimes give way to pettiness, especially if he starts to hold a grudge. He can be rather bitter and jealous, with his insecurity and neurotic disposition at times creating a self-sabotaging vicious circle. Harvey can also be moody, with a tendency to wallow in his own feelings, as well as take things too seriously. Despite all this, he is often a thoughtful and considerate person, and remains loyal to those he is close to.

OTHER

Theme(s): Creep by Radiohead TBD
Sexuality: Heterosexual.
Voice/accent: His accent seems to be slightly more 'posh' than his brother's, although this may just be something he's trained himself into.
Mannerisms & habits: Harvey and Tommy share certain mannerisms. They both tend to fidget and fiddle with things, with Harvey typically focusing on his watch or his sleeves. Harvey is also a mouth breather (in the literal sense), and rather stuck in a cycle of chewing, licking, and picking at chapped and scabby lips, which only serves to make the matter worse. Harvey often seems a little tense and this is seen in his posture. He is left-handed.
Interests/hobbies:
Literature: This includes reading and writing. Harvey is an appreciator of classic works of literature, such as those by Shakespeare or the poetry greats over the centuries, as well as classic novels.
Music: Harvey is passionate about music and rather proud of his music taste. He enjoys the genres of experimental music, post-rock, ambient, shoegaze, progressive rock, and noise music, as well as having an appreciation for jazz, especially more avant-garde forms. He's also partial to a spot of classical music, although partly just because it makes him seem cultured.
Bird-watching: A self-professed 'birder', Harvey finds great satisfaction in observing birds, recording bird sightings, and learning about the ornithological.
Misc.:
Powers:
• Dove Transformation
Harvey can transform into a dove (specifically, a European turtle dove). He can maintain this form for a maximum of two cumulative hours a day. Shifting too rapidly will lead to a feeling of disorientation and eventually exhaustion.
• Heartbreak Inducement
Harvey has the ability to induce an emotional state within targets similar to the pain of heartbreak. When used, this power will leave a target feeling deeply sorrowful and distressed, as if their heart has just been broken. This can last between two and ten minutes, with shorter times being able to pack more intensity. This could stave off an attacker (including monsters) as the emotional turmoil would be distracting.
• Pathokinesis Immunity
Harvey is immune to emotional powers and magical attempts of emotional manipulation.
• Animal Affinity
All creatures tend to be naturally friendly to Harvey.
Weapons: None yet.

HISTORY

Tommy and Harvey were born out of a brief liaison between the goddess Aphrodite and a young man living in London. Said young man was not keen on raising a baby, let alone two, and despite his (vaguely) valiant efforts for a short first part of their lives, he ended up giving the boys up into care. They were eventually adopted by a couple when they were just under 2 years old: Alan and Veronica Hartley.
Despite periods of fluctuating financial insecurity, the boys had a fairly standard and stable childhood. They were never that much alike, as far as identicalness goes, both growing to value and develop their own individuality.
At age 15, a development in employment led to the family moving to America. Strange things started occurring with increasing intensity, and only recently have they been made aware of their true heritage and introduced to their new home: Camp Half-Blood.

NOW

"What d'you wanna do now?" Tommy asks his brother as they leave the dining pavilion, having concluded their first breakfast at Camp Half-Blood since their arrival yesterday.
"I don't know," Harvey says, after an uncertain pause. He has, admittedly, been finding it somewhat harder than his twin to adjust to their new life. It feels like he's been forced into a set of clothes that don't fit, that itch and prickle with the surreal and incomprehensibly immense truth of his and his brother's origins — and, so it has been suggested — their uncomfortably likely monster-y ends. Tommy doesn't seem as bothered by these metaphorical new outfits they've been thrust into wearing, but then again, he's always liked getting new clothes.
"Come explore with me," Tommy suggests. He, for one, finds this strange new world exciting more than anything else. This place is like something out of a movie: a training camp for kids with magical powers? Goat people? Real-life swords? Cute girls living in rivers? He wants to find out more, wants to snoop around and see what else this place has to offer, and he also wants to meet people. Conveniently enough for that last part, the excitement of it all means that, unbeknownst to either twin, Tommy's aura power has been steadily activated; so he happens to be particularly eye-catching and magnetic right now.
Harvey's not so keen on immersing himself even further into the deep end they've been thrown into, at least not until he's had a little more time to adjust. "I don't feel like exploring right now," he says.
"You're so boring. Are you gonna go back to the cabin, then?" his brother asks, gesturing in a direction that is definitely not where the cabins are. Harvey instinctively pulls a face: it would be fair to say that one of the twins has taken to Cabin 10 more than the other.
"Well, what are you gonna do, then?" asks Tommy. "Just sit out here and mope?"
"I'm not going to mope. I don't mope."
"Yeah, you do," Tommy retorts. "You mope all the time. You're so mopey. You're a moped."
"Shut up," Harvey says. "Fine, I'll come explore with you for a bit," he concedes, if only to disprove the moping allegations. He's not sure what he'll do after — maybe break out the binoculars and scope out the local birdlife, something to re-centre himself a little.
"Alright, cool," Tommy says with a grin. "Where d'you wanna go first?"
OOC: You can interact with both of the twins while they explore camp together, Tommy (by himself) exploring camp on his own when Harvey leaves him, or Harvey (by himself) scoping out the local birdlife. You can assume that Tommy's aura power will be active upon meeting your character in whichever case. Thanks for reading :)

2024.05.17 15:09 AffectionateLog3132 Me and @PaperDollVT made a deltarune au called deltalite. This is part 1-4

Chapter 1 Part 1: Dawn of a New Lite
Since the beginning of time, light and dark alike have fought as whisps dancing- young and fleeting. From light rises dark, and from dark rises light- coexisting, though not in harmony.
Stories meant for young children, tall tales of two lands represented by those elements- a world of dark and a world of light.
Ralsei had always been interested in those stories; they captivated him, catching his eye the first time his father had shown it to him (it was really the only time, but…)- it made him imagine many things. Days just of time spent with his father, mayhaps him living his life as a prince in a palace of darkness and light, perfectly balanced and kept. Maybe, if he-
THUMP! A weight fell from the ceiling to wake him from his slumber as he slept through his (rather obnoxious) alarm. Groaning and curling in on himself, he (not so) secretly wished he hadn’t dismissed all 37 of his other alarms, which would have awoken him at a much better time. He got up and ready before going down the stairs and grabbing breakfast saying bye to his dad and walking out the door, it was quite a walk to school- several minutes, which was pretty much torture for anyone Ralsei’s age. Unless you were Lancer. He’s just crazy. Lancer was 7x as energetic as half the students in the school combined never knew when to calm down and stop talking. Ugh, he should stop thinking like this- no way his father’d be proud if he found out his son thought so lowly of his peers.
Continuing his walk, Ralsei soon saw his school come into view, standing proud and… tall? Whatever it was, it was his school- his pride, given his somewhat good grades and (few) good friends. He piled into the classroom with everyone else and sat at his seat, Lancer ended up being late like he usually is (that isn’t to say he doesn’t have a grand entrance, though) and the teacher started speaking. “Hello Class Today We Are Going To Be Learning Math (Computer Science)” The teacher always speaked slightly weird, I wonder if all computers talk like that. Oh well; class is starting, and lord knows he needs 50 pages of notes to make it through a single semester, but he should be glad since some people are less fortunate to have a working brain. He snapped out of his thoughts when Miss…. Whatever her name is began searching for her mousepad and the entire smartboard. Then Lancer jumped in through the window and landed in his seat with a hehshey chocolate bar in his hand. His dad was the mayor and for some reason he calls the teacher “girldad.” Honestly, I think he just did it accidentally once and just stuck with it, but who knows…
The teacher, now aware of Lancer in the class, got bored of searching and began to tell Lancer to find the board and mouse. “Hey Honey Cheesecake Booboo Can You Get A Smart Board From The Janitor Closet Plz Also And That Fluffy Guy I Fr Forgot Existed Is Going With You Cuz You Two Were The Last Here”
Ralsei, a bit surprised (and quite frankly concerned that his own teacher had forgotten him), reluctantly got up, walking his way to the front of the class with an… oddly eager Lancer? After walking his way to the janitor’s closet with lancer jumping off walks they got to it and went in, it was oddly dark with no lightswitch to be seen… “Hey toothpaste boy! Is it me or is this closet weird? I don't think it has walls.” I didn't even have to see him to know he was sticking his tongue out like he always is. Honestly, you just had to listen to see if his words were slightly slurred or mumbled to know if he had his tongue out.
“I’m… sure it has walls. It’s a closet.” Ralsei reasoned, somewhat creeped out by the eerie space. “Let’s just get the board, mouse, and get out…” After what felt like 14 years and college debt, Lancer ‘finally’ spoke again. “I don't think we are gonna find the board or a lightswitch any time soon toothpaste..”
Ralsei, slightly perturbed by the nickname but not enough so to be mad, continued to search for anything that may give them light or the items they need. “Gulp I don’t think we are gonna find it. If girldad wants it she can get it herself… right?”
“Yeah, but she might lower our grades again like when that kid didn’t capitalize every word and she lowered everyone’s grade… and it’d be rude..” Ralsei said in response. “I know but I checked the watch I don't have and we've been here for like… 20 minutes and we still haven't found the lightswitch.” Ralsei considered this for a second, before coming to a conclusion.
“We should just get out and find a teacher who can help us, then… if you want!” “... Sounds good to me!” He said before he dragged Ralsei to the door and it slammed in their faces. Turning his head 180 degrees, Lancer looked Ralsei straight in his terrified eyes and said, “I don’t think we can get out.” Lancer began banging on the door, screaming bloody murder and Ralsei just stood around and continued to look for a light switch. Then, Lancer’s screaming stopped.
“Was that steadily increasing-in-size hole in the ground surrounding us always there?”
Before falling several hundred feet.
Chapter 1 Part 2: The Path of Darkness
He stood up, and fell back down. Honestly, he still wasn’t sure how he’d survived; after a good thirty seconds of falling, he’d really just passed out from the pure shock of it all; he’d been expecting to just wake up in his bed, listening to his annoying alarms- but now, waking up at the bottom of a pit, he was just confused. Soon, Ralsei, unwilling to sit there and be a joke to his father, just barely standing, before it became too much on his legs and his exhausted self and he collapsed out of over-exertion.`
He hoped some help, any semblance of it, would come- whether it be a friendly stranger or even Lancer- he’d take nearly anything. But then, he heard something, a very faint something but it was something. He got up. Nearly falling every second and slowly making his way to the sound. He found the source, a lump of ash and dust. It was a dinging sound, something faint- it seemed as though it was calling him, a signal of some sorts. Something familiar, as if he’d heard it before.
suddenly, without any warning whatsoever, a light emanated from the pile- something… heavenly..? Suddenly, a loud honk sound blasted before something sped out from the pile blowing dust, ash and Ralsei into the air. Thankfully Ralsei landed on whatever just piled out of the ash. Upon impact, he let out a yelp- and when landing, whatever it was under him did too. It sounded familiar, not in the way he’d heard it before but in the way it seemed to belong to someone he knew. There’s a lot of familiar things though, and with the way his head is throbbing he’s not going to dwell on it much longer. Rolling off of the thing, he hit the ground with a low thud- he fell not too much, and then whatever was on the bike flew head first into a stone wall.
Ralsei and whatever was in the pile sat up and looked at each other. “Lancer?!” “Howdy Pastetooth boy!”
Laying up as much as his migraine would let him, Ralsei looked at Lancer in shock, though it quickly faded to just anxiety. “Teethpaste boy are you gonna keep staring at me or are we gonna leave? I have a bike now so we can get out of here fast!” Ralsei noticed the bike's back wheel was on fire, How fun.
Lifting himself to the side of the bike, he clambers on just as Lancer waddles over and jumps on. Ralsei barely recognized how different they looked.
Chapter 1 Part 3: The Kingdom of Darkness
After walking for what seems to have been years, they stumbled across a cliff and Lancer spoke up. “Hey Toothtooth boy you think we could slide down this?” “... Lancer, are you crazy?”
Lancer looks at Ralsei and then the broken down bike, their surroundings, and then Ralsei again.
“...What makes you think that?” “... Nevermind, I’ll slide down the cliff but you're going fir-” Before Ralsei could even get the last words out, Lancer was already making the trip down. Sighing and edging his way to the cliff, Ralsei begins to slide while sitting down. The ride soon becomes rough, and Ralsei scrambles to stop as he watches Lancer hit a bump and go flying, though Ralsei is unable to escape that fate and ends up flying the same way Lancer had, the two landing in a pile. Ralsei got up and Lancer was running to what looked to be a castle with a giant beam of what looks to be made of darkness itself coming out of it.
“Hey- wait, wait up for me!” Ralsei gets up, limping a small bit considering he wasn’t Lancer and couldn’t run everything off, and starts running off after him. Catching up, Ralsei tries to catch his breath (utterly failing). Rlasei then turns the corner to see Lancer faceplant into the door of the castle.
“Hey-” Ralsei gasps for air, “I think it needs to be opened to do that..” Lancer falls onto the floor, gets up, and starts attempting to open the door.
“Or… maybe unlock it before opening it..” “... Poothtaste boy can you try opening the door, I don't know how to unlock it.”
“Well, maybe someone’s home, so.. I’m just gonna knock.” Ralsei moves his hand to the door, ready to knock, before it slams open, smacking Ralsei’s hand with a loud THUD.
“GOSH DANG IT!” Ralsei screams, cradling his hand to his chest and looking up at the offender, who stood in the doorway. “Just say dammit yeasteast boy.'' Lancer said before he realized that it was in fact not Ralsei that slammed the door onto his own hand.
The figure, who seemed to not care in the slightest, looked at the two boys carefully. They were wearing a cloak and seemed to be the silent type, judging from the fact they have yet to make a single noise. They then pulled Lancer and Ralsei in before shutting the doors behind them and pointing them to a wall with carving in it, titled “THE PROPHECY.”
“...What kind of hippie doovoo stuff is this?” Lancer says, gesturing to the wall- the entirety of which taken up by writing. The figure looked at Lancer and after a delayed silence, spoke. “Please read the wall.” The wall read…
“Once upon a time, a LEGEND was whispered among shadows. It was a LEGEND of HOPE. It was a LEGEND of DREAMS. It was a LEGEND of LIGHT. It was a LEGEND of DARK. This is the legend of DELTA LITE. For millenia, LIGHT and DARK have lived in balance, Bringing peace to the WORLD. But if this harmony were to shatter… a terrible calamity would occur. The sky will run black with terror And the land will crack with fear. Then, her heart pounding… The EARTH will draw her final breath. Only then, shining with hope… Three HEROES appear at WORLDS' edge. A SPADE, A MONSTER, and ROYALTY FROM THE DARK. Only they can seal the fountains And banish the ANGEL'S HEAVEN. Only then will balance be restored, And the WORLD saved from destruction. Today, the FOUNTAIN OF DARKNESS- The geyser that gives this land form- Stands tall at the center of the kingdom. But soon, another fountain will appear on the horizon… And with it, the balance of LIGHT and DARK will begin to shift…
Chapter 1 Part 4: One New Light
“What type of hippie stuff is this? I'm no hero, emo person!” Lancer said after reading the wall, he then attempted to open the door again. “Well you should at least stay so we can figure out how to leave, this place bugs me.” Ralsei stated before someone jumped down from the top of the castle, landing on the figure, knocking them out and spitting on their body, “Well, well, well… what do you two think YOU’RE doing HERE..?” the person said, flourishing their axe and gritting their teeth. They seemed intimidating, given they had a weapon and seemed… volatile, to say the least. Lancer spoke up, “Can you open this door for me? So I can leave?” “LANCER THIS PERSON HAS A WEAPON WE’RE GONNA DIE!!” “Not if they open the door for us!!” as that was happening the person stood there confused “Spade.” The figure walks over to Lancer and picks him up by the arm. Ralsei, watching this happen in real time, decides to do something risky.
He picks up a large rock on the ground, struggling, as the person(?) inspects Lancer. In a flash, Ralsei hits the person over the head with the rock, a trickle of a purple liquid and dust leaking from their skull and then watches them hit the ground. He needed to get out of there!!
Before Ralsei ran, he had the forethought to grab the first figure- the hooded one-’s limp body and pick up the dazed Lancer before ramming straight into the door, slamming it open. The person that had Lancer got up just before the door slammed and screamed. “GET BACK HERE YOU BI-” SLAM! … the door closed. Ralsei dropped them and they stood there. “Thanks for the help but I got better places to be!!!” Lancer said before speeding off in his bike that was still on fire. The cloaked person sighs and tries speaking, it ends up sounds muffled and quiet. “I can't hear you that well, your hood is in the way.” The figure nodded and and removed the hood. Ralsei felt as if he had seen this person before, Then it clicked, this person looked weirdly similar to a person in a picture at his house that went missing months ago. “Whats your… name?”

2024.05.16 05:45 larki18 [DUMMY MAGAZINE, 2006] "The people who criticise us for being too poppy don't get it. People are afraid to write a song any more, or they can't...The best bands ever have all written great songs. You can still do it and do it intelligently and it can be original."

Cigarettes and rebellion have always gone hand-in-hand, and in an age of cigarette packet-sized health warnings, now more than ever, smoking a fag says: 'I do not give a fuck.' But if Brandon Flowers is hoping to strike a seditious pose by sparking up at the start of the interview, it's not going according to plan. The Killers' frontman is on all fours rooting through the junk that carpets the anteroom at the band's rehearsal space. "Has anyone seen my lighter?" he asks, rocking back on his heels. The question hangs in the air while Brandon cocks his head, waiting for an answer like a meerkat listening for a predator. Twenty-five years old and with a delicate bone structure, there's something almost dainty about him. Receiving no response, he returns to his search. "Oh, Jeez," he sighs. "I had it just a minute ago."
It's a scene that emphatically does not suggest a rebel without a cause. The mess isn't helping. The Killers' HQ - an industrial unit sandwiched between a construction supplier and the offices of a housing development just off Dean Martin Drive in West Las Vegas - is ankle-deep in designer clothing. A Dior Homme suit lies crumpled by the door; there's a pile of shoes topped like a sundae by a pair of Marc Jacobs trainers; and anyone wishing to enter the shoebox room the band use as an office must negotiate a mountain of discarded jeans. Many items are identifiable as coming from the wardrobe of Hot Fuss, The Killers' hugely successful 2004 debut album - triple platinum in the UK with two weeks at Number One and five million sold worldwide. Look! There are the shirts, ties and suit jackets they wore when they thrilled Glastonbury 2005 with indie rock anthems Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me. That was the crowning moment of a two-and-a-half year tour that finally concluded in October of last year. It seems that after playing that final date in Miami, they returned to Vegas and shrugged off their image onto the floor of this bland white box.
Now a fine layer of dust covers the dead clothes. The Killers have no further use for white tuxedos on their second album, Sam's Town. Today, Brandon wears a black polo shirt, black pin-stripe waistcoat, black jeans and black boots. Where there used to be a layer of foundation, there is now a beard - an untrimmed beard at that. Dave Keuning (30, guitar), Mark Stoermer (29, bass) and Ronnie Vannucci (29, drums) all echo Brandon's black ensemble. Ronnie has added Aviator shades and a handlebar moustache for a dash of motorcycle cop, Dave's frizzy bubble of hair gives him a Marc Bolan-ish air, and there's something very teenage about Mark's scuffed Vans.
Short of walking around wearing sandwich boards saying, "Our new record is a bit heavier than the last one," The Killers couldn't hope to communicate that message more effectively. And they have gained some musical girth on Sam's Town. The pop hooks that made Hot Fuss so irresistible survive intact - see the ringing guitar riffs on first single When You Were Young - but there's a newfound punchiness, coupled with an epic sweep. The minor-to-major uplifts on Bones are fabulously dramatic, the coda to Why Do I Keep Counting? thrillingly intense. Comparisons to Bruce Springsteen have been made. If they overstate the case a little, they are at leaset qualitatively accurate. The Killers are back and this time it's serious - they've got the bootlace ties to prove it.
"Hey, it says here that Springsteen's headlining Glastonbury next year," shouts Ronnie, who's flicking through the NME. He nods sagely at the page without looking up.
"Really?" asks Dave, nicknamed Crazy Dave on account of his alledgedly volatile nature.
"The Boss is headlining one night, we're playing second on the bill the next night and Kylie's headlining the Sunday," says Brandon, charging like a bull through Michael Eavis' as-yet-unannounced line-up with what subsequently proves to be a characteristic gaucheness.
But that lighter is proving elusive. This being America, none of the people hurrying to-and-fro prepping the world for the release of Sam's Town smokes. Manager Robert Reynolds - Bobby Rey to the band - barks into his mobile, booking his band onto eye-wateringly demanding tours. "We're going to make a lot of money," he cackles to himself before switching calls to make a series of stern pronouncements on legal matters. Dave, Mark and Ronnie disappear for a jam session. Artwork is approved, B-sides are decided on and schedules are hammered out.
"I can't find it," Brandon says, finally. But he's not going to be denied the opportunity to underline The Killers reinvention with a puff of smoke. "Let's go to the gas station. I'll have to buy one. It's too busy to talk here anyway."
+
Brandon's black (of course) Volkswagen Touraeg four-wheel drive is barrelling down West Flamingo Road into town. "I was a bell boy there," he says, pointing out of the driver's window at the stucco facade of the Gold Coast casino. "I was working there when we were signed."
Coming from Las Vegas, it is perhaps inevitable that casinos play a big part in The Killers' story; not only is Sam's Town named after one, it was recorded in one, too.
The band began writing songs while on the road with Hot Fuss, turning up early for soundchecks to run through new ideas. On a trip home to Vegas, George Maloof, a hotelier known for cultivating famous friends, invited them to record the album in the new studio he'd built at The Palms, his flagship hotel-cum-gambling den. When the tour finished in October 2005, they returned to Vegas and spent five month finessing the songs they'd sketched out on the road. Then, in February, they decampled to the third floor studio at The Palms and recorded Sam's Town over 11 weeks.
Producer Flood (U2, Depeche Mode) encouraged them to experiment. They overdubbed, fiddled with synthesizers and played with new equipment. It took them five weeks to get the backing vocals right. The band sang the harmonies, then double-tracked them four times. The end result recalls Queen wondering, "Is this is the real life? Is this just fantasy?" When Ronnie, a trained classical percussionist, brought some kettledrums down, eyebrows were raised; but the fabulously bombastic coda on Why Do I Keep Counting? vindicates his indulgence.
"That's kind of the Ben Hur of the album," he says. He's not wrong. Sam's Town is a record on an epic scale. "Yeah, it has drama," he continues. "But, at the same time, I think it's a little more exposed than Hot Fuss. It's a little more naked. Last time it was about a lot of fictional things." By "fictional", Ronnie means that Hot Fuss wore its predominantly British influences for all to see. Brandon's taste in music is rabidly Anglophile - he constantly references The Smiths, The Cure and Joy Division - and it showed. By contrast, Sam's Town is an unequivocally American record. The lyrical imagery is pure American dream - cars, girls, wide-open spaces and escaping to a better life. "We're burning down the highway skyline/On the back of a hurricane that started turning/When you were young," sings Brandon on When You Were Young. That's the basis of the Springsteen comparisons then, though the lack of pathos more closely recalls another blue-collar rocker from New Jersey - Jon Bon Jovi.
The phrase "this town" recurs throughout the album, and it's always receding into the distance as The Killers escape to a new life. "This town was made for passing through/I never did get along with everybody else," sings Brandon on This River Is Wild. On Read My Mind he "never really gave up on breaking out of this two-star town", while on the title track he offers something of an explanation: "Nobody ever had a dream round here."
"With the first record, there was this feeling that there was this world out there that we didn't know," says Mark later in the day. Before The Killers, he studied philosophy: now he's their quiet one. "We wanted to get out and away from this and be somewhere else. We hadn't had a lot of experience - hadn't travelled much - then we were gone for three years. We didn't sit down and say that we wanted to make a record about how we're glad to be home, but that's what happened naturally."
It's not an angsty record. The Killers have already escaped with Hot Fuss, and, having done so, they view the experience fondly now they're back. There's a mistiness to Brandon's eyes as he explains how the album got it's name.
"Sam's Town is a casino on the edge of Vegas," he says. "I grew up in Henderson, which is out on the way to the Hoover Dam. My mom and dad lived in a trailer park, and my dad used to hitchhike up and down Boulder Highway, which is the only way you could get to Vegas. Sam's Town was the first thing you saw on your way in to town. So, when you're driving down Boulder Highway from Henderson, I always thought you finally knew you were getting somewhere when you saw Sam's Town. It was kind of like a beacon."
"It's not a completely American album," contines Brandon. "We still have our English influence, but we're also from the Wild West. Somehow we've managed to unify all that on this album. it's just such a perfect resemblence of what we are."
At the petrol station, Brandon rummages through the glove box looking for change to buy a lighter. "This is a great album," he says, pointing at Highway Companion, the latest from iconic American rocker Tom Petty. "I've always been a big fan of his. He's such a great American artist."
Yes, Brandon: we get the point.
+
When Brandon finally lights his cigarette, he smokes it awkwardly, like a child mimicking something he's seen the grown-ups doing. However, when he cheerfully admits that, "I feel the same mentally as I did when I was 12," it's not a knowing nod to the fact that he sometimes behaves like a loveably precocious child, but a reference to an unusually comprehensive grounding in pop music at an early age.
When Brandon sings about "this town", he doesn't mean Las Vegas. He means Nephi, Utah or Henderson, Nevada, where he spent his childhood. His parents are Mormon and he is the youngest of six children. "I was a surprise," he says. "I've got a 42-year-old sister." If he was issues about his "surprise" status, he chooses to gloss over them. "It turned out perfect because my brother was a teenager when I was a kid," he says. "He would bring home things like Rattle And Hum by U2 and I would watch it. I remember he bought Live In Dallas by Morrissey. It was always him watching these things, or his door was shut and you'd hear The Head On The Door by The Cure blasting through the house and rattling the walls."
The Killers were formed when Brandon answered an advert Dave had placed in a local paper in late 2002. Dave cited Oasis as a big influence; Brandon had seen them play recently and responded; and, as Dave has said in previous interviews: "He was the only person to reply to my ad who wasn't a complete freak." However, the band was born in Brandon's brothers bedroom.
"His room was like a shrine," enthuses Brandon. "It was a holy place. I wish I could show you a picture of it. It was covered in posters. There'd be a big picture of Elvis wearing a bow tie that just said 'The Smiths' [the artwork for The Smiths 1987 single Shoplifters Of The World Unite]. You had The Cure wearing face paint [the artwork to The Cure's 1985 single In Between Days] - all that kind of stuff. I remember Morrissey being on the cover of the NME, with the halo [from 1985] - stuff like that. You just wanted to know about these people 'cause they were so cool. My brother seemed like such a cool person. But he was a teenager, so he wasn't going to be that nice to me, a kid."
Brandon was fascinated by his brother's collection of music, magazines and posters, but he was denied access to them - officially, at least. "I would sneak in," he says. "I knew he'd be angry if he found out, but I would go in as soon as he left the house." For a long time Brandon was too scared to actually play anything. "That didn't come 'til later. I just used to go in there because I liked it. Then I got to the point where I'd actually take a tape out and put it in. It took more guts to do that."
It was a life-changing moment. "I was ten and the first song I played was Sing Your Life by Morrissey. I remember dancing about to it."
The lyrics to Sing Your Life include the lines, "Sing your life/Just walk right up to the microphone/And name all the things that you love/All the things that you loathe." It's intriguing to wonder what Morrissey makes of the neophyte he inspired with these lines.
Eventually, Brandon inherited his brother's tape collection. "It was around the same time CDs started coming out in a big way. He started buying CDs and gave me his tapes. And that was it: it took off from there. I got a hundred of the best albums - all the New Order, all the Morrissey, all The Smiths, The Beatles. I started buying posters. I went to see The Cure in concert. It was just kind of a continuation of my brother. And it was nice because, though my parents were strict, they were already used to it from him. There was no, 'My dad doesn't understand me,' or any of that kind of stuff. My mum likes The Smiths."
Brandon was 13 and his favourite band was late-'70s/early-'80s American new wavers The Cars, and particularly their jaw-droppingly catchy 1979 single Just What I Needed.
"I wouldn't exist without that song," he says. "That was the one. I remember driving around with my mum when I was 13, and we're living in Nephi - a really small town - and I felt so cool when I put that song on. Like: 'I have something that none of these kids I'm going to middle school with tomorrow have.' That excitement is what music's about, isn't it? That's why I understand the mentality of people that don't like us because we've sold so many records. I used to like it when no one else knew about a band. So I get that - I do."
+
Brandon's first band was called Blush Response. It was never going to work out. Not because he refused to move to Los Angeles with them, but because he is utterly - comically - shameless. He's given to making outrageously boastful statements like: "It's not like the '60s, '70s and '80s now. There are only a few bands around that are really good, that just do it. I mean, there's what, five or six of us?"
For the record, in Brandon's estimation, those bands are Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, The Strokes, The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and, of course, The Killers.
"I don't want people to think I'm lumping myself with other people just to make us sound cool," he says. Really? It sort of sounds like you are. But he just steamrolls through it. "Yeah, but you know what I mean," he says, grinning at his own cheekiness. He's so disgracefully forward you can't help but laugh along with him - Oh you are awful, Brandon! But joking aside, The Killers are the most commercially successful of all the bands he mentions.
Later, back at the rehearsal space, the band run through Sam's Town at deafening volume in preparation for the forthcoming tour - first the US, then the world. The infectious, almost contagious, chorus of When You Were Young sounds fabulous, as do the U2-like guitars and Twin Peaks synths of Read My Mind. Meanwhile, Smile Like You Mean It and Somebody Told Me benefit from the newfound harder edge.
They somewhat heavy-handedly underline the new direction by playing Paranoid by Black Sabbath and Get It On by T Rex. That's the thing: The Killers are not a subtle band. Their songs are like a wet kiss from a girl who's a bit too drunk. They are big and brash, and not everyone loves them for it. Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me might go down as well at hip nightclubs as they do on the festival circuit, but the DJs play them with the same guilty look they wear when playing a pop record.
"I hate that," says Brandon. "Like writing a song you can hum somehow cheapens it? It makes me think of this quote by Morrissey. Everybody knows how he read Oscar Wilde, Keats and Yates when he was growing up and that he wanted to be a writer. He was talking to this journalist who asked why he hadn't become a writer, and Morrissey said: 'What I do is more powerful than what you do because I can write down these words and you get it to a melody. How can you beat that?' I'm of the same opinion. I don't understand why a good melody that's memorable is a bad thing."
Being dismissed as pop particular aggrieves Ronnie. "When we first came out we got compared to Duran Duran all the time. Jesus Christ! We got a keyboard player now all of a sudden he's Nick Rhodes! Come on!"
"The people who criticise us for being too poppy don't get it," agrees Mark. "I think that's the problem with a lot of rock music. People are afraid to write a song any more. Either that or they can't. And that attitude hurts music in general. The best bands ever have all written great songs. You can still do it and do it intelligently and it can be original. This isn't a studio creation with a producer writing these songs for us. We're not Avril Lavigne, or something like that. We're a real band writing real songs, just like a punk band would do, except that we write pop songs."
You get the impression that The Killers knack for showboating pop hooks that border on vulgar is inextricably tied up with the brazen side of Brandon's personality. But while his ebullient charisma, not to mention the songs themselves, mitigates his outrageousness, there is a less attractive side to his ego. He has a combative streak. He can't resist taking pot shots at emo bands, notably Fall Out Boy, whith whom The Killers share an A&R man.
Has he heard how many emo kids it takes to change a light bulb? "No." None. They just sit in the dark and cry. It's a full 30 seconds before he stops laughing. When he does he admits: "Yeah, we've had problems with other bands. You know, when you walk in the room it's like..." He whistles the theme to The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. "We're like gangs."
And while the other members of the band are diplomatic on the subject of Brandon, you don't have to read too deeply between the lines to conclude that there have been internal issues, too.
"Some people will think Brandon's the big genius," says Dave, visibly bridling. "There are songs, such as Why Do I Keep Counting?, where he's written every note. But there are others, like When You Were Young, that were more of a collaboration - like Mr Brightside, where I had some of the music and Brandon came up with the lyrics. We always have arguments about who wrote what. The truth is that we all help in that process."
When asked how success affected them, Ronnie says: "There were certain things that needed adjusting. When you're on tour for two years, people can get a little needy. It doesn't help that you're surrounded by yes men and everybody's working for you. At times we've had to say, 'Who do you think you are?' to people. No one wears the trousers, but some people would like to. I think if it wasn't for the people in the band kicking each other in the ass... Let's just say there was some ass-kickin'."
It doesn't take a genius to work out whose ass needed kicking most often.
+
It's the following day and The Killers are back at their rehearsal space. The topic of discussion is what to wear in the video for Bones, the second single. It's a big deal: the director is Tim Burton. "I feel like Frank Sinatra when I sing it," announces Brandon. "With maybe a little bit of Morrissey and a little bit of Elvis, too."
Of course he does. But if securing the services of Tim Burton tells you one thing, it's that The Killers are about to get even bigger, perhaps even make the leap to the same level as Coldplay et al. Already stars, they are about to become superstars. Brandon can hardly wait.
"Do you know that Rolling Stone didn't want to put us on the cover last time," he says indignantly. "They didn't think we were stars. We sold five million albums! What more do they want from a band?"
Whatever was required, Brandon would be happy to do most things. "I'll do stuff that some people don't want to do, 'cause I want people to hear the music," he says. However, even he has limits. "The Rolling Stone thing made the record label think: 'What can we do to make them stars?' If I go on vacation with my wife, do they have to send somebody to be there to take pictures of me? Is that how you become a star? I don't want that. I walked down the red carpet one time and I realised I don't like it. But you don't have to walk down the red carpet for people to hear your music. We do still have some of that indie blood running through our veins."
He heads off at a tangent: "When you walk around Liverpool, you think of The Beatles, or you go to Manchester and you think of The Smiths or Oasis. I want you to come to Las Vegas and think of Sam's Town. And I think we've started to capture that, which is a truer version of The Killers, 'cause that's where we're from."
He pauses.
"I used to live across the street from Sam's Town. Maybe it'll be like our Abbey Road where people go to take pictures."
Is that what he'd like?
"I wouldn't mind it," he says, desperately hoping it will come true.
He puts a cigarette between his lips, looks down at his trouser pockets and pats them in search of the lighter he bought yesterday.
"Hey, I don't suppose you've got one?"

2024.05.13 15:26 ProfessionalShoe5589 My friend joked about sh after seeing my scars

I (14F) and my best friend (14F) were hanging out a couple weeks ago and we went to the city. It was a hot day so I wanted to wear short sleeves and I used foundation to cover the $h scars on my arm. Unfortunately, she still saw them and asked, “What are those?” And I knew she realised and she asked if I was okay and she was really supportive after finding out. Fast forwards to a couple days later, during school we sat in our friend group during lunch and she started joking about $h while glancing at me, and she’s never joked about it before. She repeatedly did this almost everyday after the day she found out ut, and I remember one time we had to dissect a heart and she said to me, “I don’t think you should be trusted with that knife. You know, I don’t want you… hurting yourself.” She purposely said it really loudly and a bunch of students looked over and I was so pissed. I asked what her problem was and she just replied with, “Hey, I’m not the one that needs help.” That was the last fucking straw. I got her alone like after class and confronted her. I asked what she was trying to do and all she said was, “Oh, sorry, I didn’t think it would bother you that much. I’ll stop.” And of course, my friend never stopped. It seemed she would only make these jokes in front of others and not when we were alone. She started giving me a nickname, “emo” and I told her to stop but she never did. It just makes me so sad to notice how two-faced she is. I have no idea what to do since all my friends think I’m a weird freak now and she acts all innocent when I confront her.

Book Characters do exist in this RP but unless anyone volunteers to RP as them, npc them if you’d like them to be involved with your story. Otherwise pretend they don’t exist, and none are cabin councilors unless requested. ‼️IMPORTANT ‼️YOU MUST KNOW THE CABIN NUMBERS THAT ASSOCIATE WITH EACH GOD OR GODDESS! CABIN ONE = ZEUS, CABIN TWO = HERA, CABIN THREE = POSEIDON, CABIN FOUR = DEMETER, CABIN FIVE = ARES, CABIN SIX = ATHENA, CABIN SEVEN = APOLLO, CABIN EIGHT = ARTEMIS, CABIN NINE = HEPHAESTUS, CABIN TEN = APHRODITE, CABIN ELEVEN = HERMES, CABIN TWELVE = DIONYSUS ‼️‼️

Bio Template:
Name - Age - Cabin/Parent - Other Family - Appearance - Personality - Canon Character Friends - OC Friends - Ship - Backstory? - Nationality/Ancestry/Accent - Nicknames - Aesthetic - Other Languages besides English? - Favorite Camp Activity - Relationship/Opinions On/With Godly Parent - Wish/Dream/Goal - Voiceclaims - Other - MBTI - Name To Call You When We Aren’t Roleplaying :]
Example:
Beckett Colins - 13 - unclaimed (HERMES’ SON) - He did have a mom, and they were very close, as they were poor. - Beckett is a short, slim boy with knotted dark brown hair (that’s been dyed a lighter brown, but not fully so it’s kinda spotty) - He’s pretty shaky, he has major trust issues, and he always looks like he’s on the verge of crying. He’s really (mentally) strong though. He doesn’t cry unless other people do. Or he’s hurt. He’s tough even when he’s hurt though. He’s a bit afraid to speak up or ask for help sometimes, since he’s scared someone will tell him off for it. - Luke and Chris are like his adopted dads or something. No but seriously, an older (probably girl to remind him of his mom) in the Hermes cabin, unclaimed or claimed Hermes child, would be his mothefather figure to cope with being unclaimed. - N/A - N/A - he and his mom were very close, living in an overdue with rent apartment in a rundown neighborhood in NYC, but she died of heart failure when he was 8, and left Beckett to fend for himself on the streets of New York City. Thankfully he got food and things from people who felt bad, he had the cute factor of a child. Then he found CHB :] - His mother was heavily German, and could only speak German. He has a thick German accent especially when he speaks the language (it was his first language, as he learned it before English, which he’s still pretty bad at) - Rahh idk - Homeless. Idk streetwear? - He speaks German :) - uhhhhshajajkwkwksmzmk probably like nothing bc he’s pretty useless at everything tbh. - he wishes he could know him. - to be claimed. - Ben Platt (idk lol I was listening to DEH) - Aaauushhshsjjak idk help the poor boy - ISFP - EXAMPLE_NPC

So this RP I’m trying something new ! Everyone will have a starter prompt for every oc you roleplay as, just to give a feel of your overall character, you can give a description of what you look like, a dialouge to show how your oc speaks, or anything else that gives you a little tap into what your oc is like !! You may put this in ‘Other’ in your bio templates or not, the choice is yours, and these can also be used as RP starting prompts. You do have to pm me your starter prompt at some point before you begin roleplaying, so I can also make sure you know how to roleplay, and are exp. ‼️PLEASE WRITE THEM IN 2ND PERSON, USING YOU/YOURS PRNS FOR THE READER‼️
Example with Beckett —
.:You watch from across the amphitheater, at a frail, small looking boy, sitting with a few older Hermes boys, chatting and occasionally laughing. The Apollo cabin was leading a song at the moment, by the campfire, as the Ares cabin shot looks at the Athena cabin. All of which was relatively normal. The boy you were staring at caught your gaze. He gave a quick smile and a shy wave, before glancing back to the older boys and laughing a bit. (Not at you,) :.
Examples for each of my oc’s —
ARLO-
— As you tread through the forest you hear a stick snap in the distance, which earns a small squeak from the perpetrator. He’s a seemingly suntanned boy with dirt patches on his arms and face as he turns your direction. His brown eyes gleam amber in the sunlight. Definitely a son of Apollo, you thought as he froze, pondering if he should approach you. A wide grin broke out onto his face. — ` Heeeeyyyy..! What’re you doin’ out here? ` — He tilted his head. He looked around, awkwardly. “Ignore the uh.. mud..” he gave an awkward laugh as he wiped the dry mud and dirt from his arms and cheeks, waiting for your response.—
RUTHIE-
— You move into the back corner of the Forge, carefully trying to dodge sparks from metal, bracing your ears for the loud clangs and excruciating heat from the fires. You settle yourself into a comfortable standing position as you begin to heat up your sword with a blowtorch, grabbing goggles and placing them on your head. You feel a pair of eyes burning into your side, as you turn your gaze to your left and spot a short-haired girl staring at you with a flat expression. She has goggles pushed upwards on top of her head and gloves on as she looked down at your sword, not bothering to make eye contact. —` You’re doing it wrong. ` — She comments dryly. —
RAIYNA-
— you walk up to the big house, therefore Mr D, tiredly. Your cabin mates had been bickering all night and you were about to report it, but instead of the man in a floral Hawaiian shirt as always, it was a younger girl, shuffling a deck of cards with a bored expression on her face. She glanced over at you and cracked a small smile. — ` Thank gods someone’s here to talk to me. I was getting bored out of my mind. ` —She tilted her head at you, you opened your mouth to speak but she cut you off. — ` If you need my dad, he’s uh,, somewhere, I don’t exactly know where, ‘cause all I heard was ‘in charge’ and I stopped listening, ` — It was almost as if she read your mind. — ` I’m Raina, you? ` — The black-haired girl prompted, setting the cards down. —

Dialogue-
Dialogue is probably going to be most of what you type later on in the role-play. Dialogue is when a character is talking, either to themselves or to others. You need marks to represent dialogue though… soo- here’s some ideas :)
“Hi!”
‘ . Hi! . ‘
‘ ‘ Hi! ‘ ‘
/ ‘ / ‘ Hi! ‘ \ ‘ \
‘ -_ Hi! _- ‘
‘ ‘ Hi! ‘ ‘
` . Hi! . `
Actions-
At the beginning of every good rp- you use an entire PARAGRAPH of this crap. Oh jeez- every rp I do- I start with a paragraph of some actions or a description of what’s going on around me. Actions are basically everything that isn’t dialogue and thoughts in an rp. That means- “the wind blew softly” is an action in roleplaying. So is- “the floorboards creaked loudly” :) here are some action marks that you can use :D

14 - Cabin 12/Dionysus - mother was a traveling singer and danceentertainer for the renaissance festival, Castor and Pollux which she has a decent relationship with - she has silky black mid-length hair and purple eyes, which she put contacts in when she was younger, since kids would bully her for the fact, she has pale-ish skin that mostly pales in the wintertime, which is why she loves heat. - She’s very sarcastic and has a good sense of humor, while she can be dry sometimes she’s also very good at acting and lying, from her dad. She likes talking. A lot. She’s very good at manipulating people, but she never really uses that ability much. She’s “cold” to people she doesn’t like, and she’s kinda the definition of “I don’t care what anyone thinks”, but she won’t just go frolicking in public screaming Good For You from Dear Evan Hansen at top lung capacity. She’s very dry sometimes, and extremely stubborn. She holds grudges against people, and she thinks first expressions are the most important. She’s a really supportive friend though. She can get quite disrespectful, and believes she shouldn’t have to follow any rules she doesn’t agree with. Overall She’s pretty laidback, unless passionate about a certain topic. - Percy def, uhh, Castor and Pollux, I dunno she likes to stay by herself mostly. Oh yeah, and Grover, they’re gossip buddies - Arlo, APOLLO CABIN KIDS!! - open, probably won’t get one though - miRP - Her mother had polish decent, she’s mostly American though. - Rai-Rai (Mr D.) Rai (Apollo kids) - Dark Academia - She speaks Spanish, French, German, and Italian (not fluently) because she needed to translate some for her mother while traveling. - Archery, she’s like, too good at archery, mostly because her cabin only really had three people in it and she’s convinced her dad to let her practice extra all the time. She also likes doing stuff with the Apollo cabin in general, since their dads are kinda like the two theatre Gods - “I get it, you’re all— without fathers I..” “I’m not. I love my dad.” She loves Dionysus, mostly because he lets her do things other campers can’t, through guilt tripping <3 also cause he teaches her card games, so she can beat her other friends and brag about it. - To make the Gods stop using them as players in their little game, she feels very strongly about defying the Gods,, for some reason. She knows she’ll never succeed, she just wants (mostly for her friends) the gods to actually notice their children. - some form of Janis Ian/Sarkisian - She likes trying to sneak her dad wine, that’s why she’s the favorite child :] - INTJ - DogFish
Arlo Pesci -
17 - Cabin 7/Apollo - his mom was a marine biologist, they had a really close connection. He had a dad (his mom’s husband) before Apollo, who was a nurse, but y’know, after he found out his wife was pregnant with someone random’s child, he divorced her. His stepdad was an ecologist, who worked at a zoo, so he spent most of his childhood at a zoo, now he loves animals. Until his stepdad got a divorce from his mom for money reasons. He’s the middle child of two mortal sisters. His older sister was born from his dad before Apollo, and his younger sister was born from his stepdad. His older sister’s name is Devyn, and his younger sister’s name is Emma - He has curly dirty blonde hair and suntanned skin, with brown/azure eyes that appear orange in the sun. Sometimes he uses hair gel, but he’s mostly given that up, because nobody really cares about what you look like at CHB. He’s often covered in dirt, and sometimes has leaves and twigs caught in his hair. During capture the flag he puts mud on his arms and stuff, and sometimes he creates tiger patterns on himself from the mud :] - He’s very passionate, and mostly happy, but he gets hurt very easily, emotionally. He cries easily as well. It’s a bad habit of his to cry over every little thing. He isn’t very smart, nor was he ever good at school, but he loves the people he surrounds himself with. He’s extremely gullible. Extrovert for sure. - WWIIILLLLL<3333 - uhh, Raiyna, OPEN!! GIVE THIS BOY FRIENDS! - 💍who’s gonna take this - sort of explained in family - his mom was American, with some unknown European ancestors. He’s caucasian. - Songbird/Sunshine (ship) - PrismCore - he’s not very good at that memory thing, probably not, - archery, as any Apollo child, that’s where he met Raiyna ! - he just wishes he could give his dad a big hug, let the boy hug his dad :[ - he wants everyone around him to be happy - Will Connelly or Jake Ryan Flynn - he’s an overachiever :( OH YEAH, HE PLAYS THE UKULELE, AND BASS GUITAR ! - ESFJ - DogFish :]
Ruthie Hearthstone -
16 - Hephaestus - she has her mom and stepdad back home, they’re inventors, - She’s a pale brunette with red streaks in her short hair. She doesn’t wear glasses, although she needs them. She has short sight. Speaking of her vision, she has hazel doe eyes and bruises/cuts on her arm from her machinery. - She’s very.. pre-season 1 Twilight Sparkle. Like, think smart (she wishes she was an Athena kid) but very socially withdrawn, she doesn’t like interaction but what she does like? Being alone with her inventions and metalwork in the forge or cabin 9 (again, pjo, not hoo.) - nobody. - nobody. - be my only friend whoever’s gonna be this girly’s ship. She may be an awkward introvert but she’ll try to give you science pickup lines and she’ll be wholesome to u :] - rrraaahhhhh uhh.. yeah um.. no? She’s just always been like this, her parents want her to be “normal” and socialize buttt? She disagrees. She ran away (AnnabethCore🤩) - America. RAAAHHH 🦅🦅🦅 - Ru / Ruth. She hates when people call her Ruth, because they assume it’s her real name, when Ruthie is what she was born with. - Academia in general - she speaks French and Russian, she learned Russian for fun and French for school. - Staying in her cabin and making stuff. - She doesn’t really care, though she’d like it if she was a child of Athena. - To be actually seen as not just this weird genius girl and for a person to be accepting of her humor and real personality. - Analise Scarpaci - She doesn’t have that cool fire power or whatever, she wishes she did though (she wishes she could be better a lot, she’s actually really insecure.) - INFP - DogFish

2024.05.05 01:22 ginger-neutral [A4A] Spending time outside with your reserved friend [unemotional speaker] [affectionate listener] [platonic]

Ok to monetize, but don't paywall. Also, if you post a recording of it anywhere, please let me know. I'd love to hear it. This is a follow-up to the reserved introvert script. It's shorter than I usually prefer to post, but it felt right at this length. Honestly, i'd forgotten about this script until I was looking through scripts i've written, and i realized the first part could have totally been the same party as the one in the first tsundere emo boyfriend script, so that's officially canon now. Anyway I actually have a few more reserved introvert scripts already done, so expect more of River. I like writing them.
(Idly humming something. Whatever's stuck in your head. If you're off-key, that's good. This character isn't humming as a performance, and they're not intended to be exceptional at it.)
Oh.
… Hi there.
I didn't notice you. Have you been standing there long?

Not too long then. Good.

I wasn't humming anything special. I don't even remember the words, or if there are any. It was just stuck in my head.

You don't have to pretend I'm good at it. It isn't something I care that deeply about. I just hum sometimes. Even if I was the best singer in the world, it's not something I care about enough to pursue. It's not one of my interests.

Well, if you liked it, at least I'm not hurting anyone's ears.

That was a joke, by the way. I don't think I'm quite that bad.

You want to sit with me? The weather's nice, so…

Just because I like rain doesn't mean clear weather isn't also nice sometimes.

I like when it's overcast and there are sunbeams shining through.

Oh, that's what they're called? I don't know if I like that term. Calling them "sunbeams" seems a bit more apt than "god rays."

Not sure what you mean. I said two different terms. Which one do you want me to call you? I mean, it would be weird to call you a "god ray," so I guess it would be weird to ask to be called that.

Did you come to the park for the same reason I did, uh, Sun, uh– Sunbeam?

Are you making fun of me for failing to properly use the nickname you gave yourself?

I'm not easily embarrassed. I don't think you'll be able to. Not unless you want to hurt my feelings outright.

Yeah, I didn't think you would.

Before you get any other ideas, I'm going to remind you that I don't like being touched.

Just making sure. I don't know what you do or don't remember.

You didn't answer my question, Sunbeam. Why did you come out here?

Oh, okay. That makes sense, I think.

My reason is that Jenny is out of town, and sometimes when I'm home alone for too long, I end up taking too many naps and it throws off my sleep schedule. I think it's the ennui.

Ennui. Jenny taught me the word. It's not spelled the way it sounds, but I don't remember how it's spelled. I think it's French. It's like boredom, but it feels worse. It's agonizing.

I'm probably exaggerating. I don't know how else to describe it.

It's easier to just exist when I'm outside. Maybe it's because there's a breeze and smells and sounds and stuff around me. I don't have to do anything extra to stimulate myself like I would if I was inside.

Would you ever want to come to our apartment? Jenny and I don't usually invite people over, but that's mostly because a lot of Jenny's friends are kind of… wild. And I don't have all that many people I'd want to invite over.

Yeah. I'd like to invite you sometime.

Okay. Sounds good.

Would it be alright if we just sit in silence for a while? I'm aware that many people don't like doing that, so it's fine if you'd rather not.

Oh, good.

(Ambiance continues in the background. River doesn't talk for a while.)

Hey. I think I'm in the mood to get some food.
Would you like to go somewhere to eat?

Oh. I was thinking pastries. I'm not really hungry enough for a meal.

Let's go then.

2024.05.02 17:19 Dajijik How my grandpa stole my thunder.

(Sorry for grammar, not native english)
Recently we were cleaning the attic ať home and it brought some memories so I wanted to share it with someone.
When I was teenager it was in to have a blog, so I decided to start one too. I started to write about music (mainly about rock, metal, hardcore, fully compliant with my emo phase). I was very dedicated to it and wanted to make it big, so I posted something every day, searching for interesting stuff etc. I didn't make it big, but I have 9 dedicated souls, who commented regularly so I kept doing it. What I didn't know that 5 of them was my family members who wanted to cheer me up, because in the begining, nobody visited the blog. It was my dad, my 3 cousins and my grandpa, who had nickname ShrinkingGeorge and always left comment "This Is awesome!" and nothing else.
I was blissfully unaware of it until there was concert of one of my favorite band near my town, so I decided to go and shared it on blog in case someone is joining me. As I wasn't of age yet, there was secret family council about who will be my escort. Dad was on business trip, cousins were in different places in different universities, so mission was awarded to ShrinkingGeorge and my grandpa went fully out.
How shocked I was when I arrived at meeting spot in front of the venue and there was my 74y old grandpa in tattered jeans, black jacket with chains and My Chemical Romance t-shirt. He was having blast chatting with crowd around him, and advertising my blog in between.
In the end, concert was awesome, my blog grew up to 2000 members, sadly not so much for my content, but for chatting with my grandpa. This lasted till the site closed down few years later and even then grandpa hold summer bbq for his biggest fans in our garden.
It has been 2 years since grandpa died and yesterday I discovered his MCR shirt in the attic. We really miss him.

2024.05.02 00:42 EeveeQueen15 I've Been Wondering If Lucifer Is Actually The Good Guy

So, my religion is considered pagan but I believe that all gods and goddesses exist on another plane of existence. Depending on how you live your life, you can potentially become a god or goddess yourself. And your afterlife depends on how you live your life and your beliefs.
I was raised in the Christian religion. I left the church when the pastor mentioned that the afterlife is worshipping God on our knees for all of eternity because no. I don't want to do that with any god. My entire life was also suffering from trauma and abuse, which would never go away no matter how much I prayed. Then I was rejected by the holy ghost. One family nicknamed me "Satan's daughter" because I was an emo teenager. Either way, I have more than experienced God's betrayal.
One thing that the youth pastor taught that I did take with me was the heart of compassion. Which is when you genuinely don't judge others, you have unconditional love, and endless forgiveness. I've always been like that. On top of that, a couple did tell me that I give off an aura of light similar to Jesus.
Reading this sub's FAQ actually has me thinking that I was born a Luciferianism.
Anyway, I haven't thought about any religion until I moved in with my grandma. Then I noticed all the awful things that God has done and also that Lucifer hasn't actually done anything evil outside of killing Job's family.
Then I was wondering if it's one of those cases where Lucifer was probably trying to stop God's evil and was overpowered by God. And then God had this book written that told everyone how Lucifer wronged him and made Lucifer out to be evil, but nobody wanted to listen to Lucifer's side.

2024.04.26 22:48 BillyloonisisHOT The main 3 as Humans!

I got bored and decided to use Picrew to showcase my OC trio as humans. But I WILL draw them all in my style!
🍿 Popcorn the fox is Just a silly white teen, being the oldest of the group. And the main starter of trends in the gang.
🌈 Rainbow the wolf (nicknamed Rain for the groups sake) is the typically semi-anxious and cautious yet chill member of the group. Acting as the mothefather and voice of reason for the other two. Being black yet always wears rainbow colored/themed accessories or clothing in his attire. Being very childish in her interests and hobbies dispite mature behavior 24/7
🐉 Rainbow the dragon is Mixed, Silly teen number2 who becames chaotic with or without Popcorn along. Being in a obvious Emo/Scene phase ever sense her fathers death. Yet is very helpful and nice when she's not teasing everyone and being a chaos gremlin
All of them have a silly 2000s/2010s theme because I made em all late 2010.(2016-2018) Plus they fit the mold of that era n aesthetic.
Gotta love my little sillys humanized. But. I'll say this, Rainbow the Dragon's color palette (non humanized) is seriously the American flag 🇺🇸 but w Grey, Blue, n Red

2024.04.19 15:12 throwaway3252002 I don't know how to be a good person. (My life story)

It feels like the cards were stacked against me from the start. My mom dated this guy off and on throughout high school, her senior year he cheated on her, and to get back at him she decided to sleep with his best friend, who would become my dad. My mom and dad were horrible drug addicts, my mom would take whatever she was given and dissappear for days at a time, days she has no memories of. I dont know everything she did, but she said she was a step away from heroin. My dad I think played in a band, and the only other thing I know for certain is that his nickname was Chunk. I don't even know his real name.
My mom was 18 when she found out she was pregnant with me, and the moment she found out, she quit all the drugs she was doing cold-turkey and asked my dad to quit the hard drugs. He refused, so she left him. She was ready to throw away her life with a guy she didn't even love for my sake, ill always appreciate her for that. After I was born, she only continued cigarettes and weed. The first two years of my life was an adjustment for her, she still liked partying and I vaguely remember a few boyfriends she brought around.
When I was 2 she met this guy named Rob, who was a bit older and worked in a factory and had his own house(trailer). Seeing as i was 2, as i got older my memories werent great and i just assumed he was my dad. Nobody bothered to correct me when i called him "daddy". He seemed like a great guy, and he was the only one willing to step up for me. At least, that's what my mom thought. See, my mom grew up in a very, very abusive family, so when Rob started getting on me more, punishing and grounding me more, and giving "tough love", she thought it was normal. Then Kindergarten.
This is the first distinct memory I have of him doing something too far. I got signed up for football in Kindergarten, and I went to every meet, bought my jersey, everyone in my family was so excited, especially Rob. That was, until, I got kicked off the football team for being "too big". I was pretty overweight, to be fair, and I've always been tall (I'm 6'4'' in my adult life) so they wanted me to play with the 4th graders. I didn't know a lick about football and those kids were at least twice my size. They took me off the team, and as punishment I was made to run laps around the trailer. I did this until I threw up.
Eventually they got married and had my little sister. This is were it gets worse. He ADORED my sister, she could do no wrong. He gradually transformed into the most stereotypical corporal parent you could think of. He was bald with a goatee, like Heinsenberg actually, and had a massive beer gut, and he sat in the Lay-Z-Boy all day. He started coming down on me harder, neglecting me more and more. The only consolation I had during all of this was my grandpa.
See, my Grandpa was a troubled soul. He suffered from addiction, alcoholism, and paranoid schizophrenia. He wasn't my real grandpa, he was my mom's mom's husband, but he's the only person in my life who I feel showed me true, unconditional love. He was abusive, but when I was born my mom refused to bring him around. He cleaned up his act really fast when nobody even asked him to, and everyone in my family attests that I was the reason he became a better man. My memories of him are of a fun, optimistic, rock n roll hippie.
He showed me music I actually liked, not just pop-country and rap like Rob. He introduced me to Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Queen, and his favorite, The Beatles. He bought me my first guitar, my first drumset, my first BB gun. He lived in a double wide in the middle of the woods, because he was a bigtime drug dealer. In my adult life I found out he had a mattress full of money and ties to the mob.
Things with Rob got worse after my sister started to talk. She'd cause all kinds of trouble, and blame me. I'd get beat on and sent to bed without dinner. She used to sleep in my parents bed every night. I asked once, one night, if I could just sleep on the floor in their room with everyone and Rob yelled at me all the way back to my room, beat me with a belt, and locked me in the dark. He'd mock me for being bad at sports, mock me for reading. I loved superman as a kid, he was my hero. I had a little plastic toy I'd carry around a lot, even as a 10yo. One day he said "Let's see if Superman flies" and threw it into a field. I never found it again.
Eventually my sister wanted to start coming to my grandpas with me, but I think my mom understood that was my place for my time with my Grandpa, and told her no. Until she asked my dad. I think my Grandpa also knew, so one day he pulled me aside and told me "I love all my grandchildren equally, but you're the one who made me a grandpa, and you're special to me." In retrospect I always wondered why my mom let Rob get away with so much, so I asked her and she said she met Rob at a drug deal, and that they were doing meth all the way up until my sister was born, where my Mom stopped, but not Rob. Thats why I was sent to my papaw's every weekend. They'd go to the city and buy meth.
Like I mentioned, my Grandpa was a drug dealer. However, he had a strict code, he refused to sell anything that would kill someone. So in the late 2000s before weed became mainstream, all the addicts in the area had moved up to pills, opiods, and heroin. My grandpas business was failing, he was losing money, and he slipped back into drinking. My last memory of him was him drunk in the living room, I must've been 9 or 10, screaming at my grandma about something. She was yelling back and I cried out for both of them to stop it. My grandpa angrily threw a dishrag at me. It didn't hurt physically, it was just a rag, but emotionally i was devastated. I think he was too. I could see the immediate regret in his eyes.
My Grandma rushed me back home after that. My grandpa ended up moving in with his son, of his own choice, my grandma wanted him to stay in the house. A few days later his son found him hanging from the ceiling. I know he left a note, and i know at least my mom has read it, and he did mention me. I don't know what he said, I've never even seen the note, and I don't know if I want to. I blame myself. Without his support, my mom couldn't stay with Rob any longer. They got into an argument over me one time, and afterwards I went to my mom and apologized that they were fighting over me. My mom said that was the second she knew she had to leave.
They divorced when I was 11 and it was messy. I never questioned why I didn't have to go to court meetings with my little brother and sister, or why all Robs girlfriends would shoot me dirty glances, but eventually he met this girl who didn't want someone else's kid around, I guess. One day, I must've been about 12 at this point, my mom took me for a drive and explained everything. Rob didn't want to see me anymore, he wasn't my real dad, my real dad would rather be off doing drugs, and my Grandpa had committed suicide and abandoned me too.
Before this I was a loud, annoying kid who was hyperactive and was told I talk too much all the time. I didn't know it at the time but I have ADHD. I didn't question why none of the kids I invited showed up to my 8th birthday party, or why everyone had solid groups while I just floated around, I just didn't care, I was in my own world. This car ride was when that kid died.
After hearing all of this, I told my mom "Okay." It was the start of my gradual shift into my shell of silence and one word responses. To just add the meanest insult to the worst injury, 12 years old is just a shitty age to be. The school bullying became much more targeted than "You're gay" or "You're stupid". And the newly shy nerdy fat kid with no real friends was the biggest target in their crosshair. Everyone says that they got bullied, but I think I was straight up harassed. I was picked on by the fucking gym teacher ffs. "Those kids'll stop calling you Big Mac if you shed some pounds!". I fell into a group of similar people, and we called ourselves the Outcasts, lol.
I was tired of being bullied, so I chopped my hair into bangs, dyed it black, and started wearing all black. I'd blast scary music and was just a prick to everyone. In 8th grade my friends and I had a falling out and the only friend I had left was the only kid more emo than me. It was easily my low-point. I was getting into playground spats, telling everyone I was gonna kms because I'm unloved, I even threatened to bring a gun to school to a group of kids bullying me. By freshman year it seemed everyone was more focused on helping themselves than putting other people down, but I hadn't got the memo. I had also hit puberty and shot up to, like I said, 6'4'', and shifted from an interest in Emo to an interest in Punk Rock. I had a bright blue undercut, a patched up denim vest, all my jeans were torn, and all my clothes from Goodwill. People were scared of me, even other emo kids. It doesn't help that my best, and only, friend started wearing a trench coat. I was cringy, I was weird, but people stopped bullying me.
In sophomore year I met a girl, and we had the cheesiest, most movie-like romance you could have. Punk bad boy and soft indie girl. Every show or movie or book I read with coming of age romance hits all the boxes our relationship had. Of course, my incessant negativity, along with some fratbro, caused me to lose her. We're friends now, but at the time it felt like the only person in the world I had found that was actually capable of loving me had left me for a douchebag. (Side note, he was a total douche and put her into a situation that caused her to be raped. A group of kids I used to skate with ended up jumping him later).
After finishing high school, I went to college where I met a group of people I fit right into. I actually more or less formed the group. We played music, walked around the city, and just hung out. I had a few flings in college but I eventually met my most recent ex. I won't tell our whole story but once again, dumped for my negativity. I also dropped out after one semester. From there, I tried being more positive, but socially I can either be a dick or be silent, I'm just not sure how to be nice without being creepy or weird or being rejected again which I just can't handle. I feel broken, misshapen, I'm 22 now and it's been years since I've been in a relationship. My friends barely talk to me anymore, they're all starting families, getting married, moving away. I'm cleaning shit off of toilets in the middle of the night at a casino. I don't think I'm a bad person, I do charity work, activism, and I do genuinely care about things and people. I could never intentionally hurt someone or something, I'm a vegetarian. Ive been told i have a gentle giant personality and that I'd be a good teacher or therapist (i know this seems contradictory with everything I've said so far, but I think i can just explain things in ways people can understand). Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world who knows true pain and suffering, other times I feel like I have no right to complain, that my problems are all and only my fault, that I should be grateful I even have a mom, even if she did trade her addictions in for uber-Christianity and married another abusive man. I just want to feel loved, genuinely loved by someone.

2024.04.19 01:05 taiga_akatora Obstacle #5 Design (Kurumi Hiraoka)

Obstacle #5 Design (Kurumi Hiraoka)
TL;DR - Kurumi Hiraoka is the leader of the occult club. She’s a redesign of Oka, if that wasn’t obvious. Koyama basically saw her and was kinda scared of her at first, but he saw that they like all the same things, and now he’s crushin’ on her. Also his gaydar is pretty bad because… that girl’s a lesbian, lol.
Disclaimer: Any character designs, plot points, and elimination methods mentioned in these posts may possibly change in the future, and this is just a showcase of ideas more than anything.
This is Kurumi Hiraoka. She is the founder of the occult club (formally named the supernatural research club) and a helper at the school’s library.
First off, I’m so annoyed that the occult is reduced to demons and satanic rituals. Like, they’re one of the worst clubs in the game, honestly (functionally and design-wise). Why even add an occult club to the game if you’re going to misrepresent what the occult actually is about? It makes it seem like people interested in the occult are devil worshippers or something, and that’s not true. Also, I want to make the occult club more… diverse? I think the character designs in the regular game are generally… more interesting- take that statement however you see fit- but 80s mode also makes characters appear a bit more normal. Like, not all of the occult club members are “goth”. At the very least, the occult club could feature different types of gothic, emo, and punk styles, but it feels super silly to portray occult in this way. Not all goths are gloomy people who like the occult and not all people who like the occult are gloomy goths (or what Chalex likes to think are goth; literally just pale skin, black hair, and one eye being covered at all times).
Anyway, I might end up redesigning the occult club, but I don’t know. I might get to it, I might not. I wanted to make Oka a little more interesting and lean away from… whatever she’s got going on. I like how she looks from the neck up and how people usually redesign her to look like, but I wanted to do something a bit different. I also think that this kind of style would work a bit more for her placement in the story. I don’t know why, but I think it could bring her closer to Koyama, and I think their meeting could be a bit more interesting.
In the end, I just wanted to draw this kind of emo punk girl, and I think she turned out really nice, so am I wrong for designing her this way? Plus, these aren’t supposed to be faithful redesigns. If you’re looking for that kind of thing, this rewrite may not be for you.
She’s probably still kind of shy because I like to imagine a character who dresses kind of flashy but is terrible at interacting with people because shy people deserve to be fashionable too. Since Hiraoka and Koyama both like books, you can see why they’d get along so well. They also relate to each other because they don’t look like they’d be nerdy, but they both are above average in test scores. They’re naturally smart people. People often tell them that they don’t look like the type to read for fun, and it gets tiresome. They probably hang out and talk about their favorite books and share interests or something, and they’d be pretty cute together. I imagine that Koyama has a crush on her this time. As for Hiraoka, well… they’re not really compatible, if you know what I mean. And I think Youko wouldn’t realize this either, and she’d think they both have feelings for each other. Technically, she doesn’t have to be eliminated because she’d always reject his confession, but the player wouldn’t know that at first, obviously. She’d only realize it after she befriends her.
As for her befriend/betrayal method… I took a little while to brainstorm and I came up with an arranged marriage situation. I know, I know, it might sound kind of crazy, but here’s the thing. Hiraoka’s parents are rough on her, especially since she has changed her appearance so much. They view her hobbies as weird, and they always say how she’ll never get a job with how she looks. They always tell her that she can’t live with them forever, and her biggest priority is to get married. However, as she grew older and never dated anyone, they grew worried. They ended up setting her up with some weird guy. He’s kind of a loser, and he’s weirdly obsessed with her. Even if she was attracted to guys, she wouldn’t date him. Youko probably learns this information over a phone call, and she asks Hiraoka for more information.
To befriend her, I imagine that Youko has to pretend to date her suitor to get her parents off her back. This may be a little over-the-top, but Youko isn’t putting herself in danger by doing this, and she can defend herself if he starts getting creepy about her. Besides, that isn’t what’s important. The point is, she’ll do anything for Mei, and she’s willing to put herself in danger in the long run to make her happy.
Youko can choose to threaten her suitor into backing off or convince him depending on how the player has played the game (friendship vs manipulation), and he’ll back off pretty quickly either way. Once her parents are convinced, they’ll stop nagging Hiraoka for the time being, but they’ll still be very cold to her, saying something along the lines of, “You need to work on yourself or no man will ever want you. I guess even an arranged marriage won’t work for you.” I don’t know, something like that.
At this point in time, Youko doesn’t actually know why Hiraoka rejected her suitor other than his creepiness. When she asks her to not ask Koyama out, she laughs and tells her about her girlfriend. Youko feels relieved, and she briefly mentions Mei. Hiraoka probably tells her she’s a good sister and all, but even Youko doubts it.
To betray Hiraoka, I imagine that Youko would out her to her family, telling them about the pictures in her phone of her and her girlfriend. This is so fucked up, but so is murdering people, so it fits. Who knows what happens to her after, but she doesn’t show up to school the next day. Betraying her is so dumb when you think about it, though. But that’s why it relies on how many obstacles you’ve murdered beforehand. Even though she’s no longer an obvious threat, even if she won’t date Koyama, she still needs to be eliminated in Youko’s mind. On the other hand, if Youko hasn’t killed more than half of the previous obstacles, she’ll be able to keep a clear mind and realize that Hiraoka doesn’t need to be eliminated. It’d only cause needless harm.
I don’t really know what to do for her canon elimination. The in-game canon eliminations for 80s mode sort of match up with the regular game’s rivals (Kizana is crushed, Asu drowns, Mida is expelled/fired, Hanako is set up with a boy, etc.) with some oddballs, but with that pattern, Oka would have something to do with poison? But that seems like one of the oddballs to me… A lot of my canon eliminations so far are nonlethal, so I don’t know if hers will follow that trend or not. In the end, it just needs to be fitting and has unique effects on the character. I’m not sure what it could be yet, but I’m open to suggestions.
I also want to flesh out the occult club and what they do other than read and observe weird things about the school because her rival-specific eliminations would probably have something to do with that.
For now, that’s all I’ve got for her! Like I’ve said before, nothing is set in stone. In fact, a lot of stuff may end up changing because I’m making up a lot of this as I go. After I finished her drawing, I was going to post this without coming up with her befriend/betrayal method, but I just so happened to come up with an idea I like in like, an hour. So… take what I say with a grain of salt. If I make any mistakes or say something weird, it’s probably because of that! I am posting these daily, after all!
(It wasn’t intentional at first, but I like how Hiraoka has “Oka” in it still, so maybe it can be like a nickname or something.)
Anyway, if you have any criticism or ideas for her character, I’d love to hear it!
The next obstacle is an original character, and I’ve already mentioned them a few times… They’re also a character I like a lot but had the WORST time designing!

2024.04.18 01:51 prettyboys-indemand [TOMT] [Book] [2000s] A book in diary format about a high school girl who stayed in a mental hospital with a grungy artstyle

I remember the artstyle was very grungy and angular, gave off vibes of Tim Burton or old emo art. The main character of the book is nicknamed something related to her previous stay in a mental hospital (i.e "Crazy") by bullies at school. She dressed quite alternative and had short choppy black hair. She had a tight knit group of mostly girl friends, one of them was blonde and I think attempted suicide in the book but ended up in the hospital instead.
She is also close to her elderly neighbour who uses a wheelchair and at one point sees the neighbour fall while trying to reach something on a shelf. At the end her neighbour dies and she attends her funeral and moves in with her sister or something? Please help, I probably read this around 2010-2015.

2024.04.15 21:34 genZcommentary I watched NATLA before watching the cartoon and now I'm watching the cartoon! Here are my thoughts on Book 2 Episodes 1-3

Hello! I’m back, ready to watch Book 2 of Avatar!
I know I was disappointed by the finale of Book 1 and my reaction probably disappointed some of you as well. However, now that Book 1 is over, I officially am at the part of the story where I have no preconceived expectations! I have no idea what to expect, where the story’s going, nothing! So it’s probably going to be a lot harder to disappoint me lol All I will say is that I am super excited to see Azula again and I can’t wait to find out what kind of character she is.
Once again, I’m posting my Game of Thrones commentary alongside this one. Check it out if you want!
One last thing: a few people did Episode watch orders for this Book which were very helpful… but I can’t find them anymore. If you were one of those people who took the time to order the episodes for me, would you mind posting them again or mailing it to me via DM? I would appreciate it a lot! Thank you!
Okay, Book 2! Let us go!
Episode 1- The Avatar State
  1. It’s a little weird not having any idea what to expect.
Aang’s having nightmares about his own Avatar State. Makes sense, I’m sure it’s a traumatic event for him. It only comes out when he’s in mortal peril, and he basically becomes a god of destruction at that point.
Oh! Chekhov’s spirit water! I swear I forgot about that in NATLA lol Pakku calling Katara a real master makes me happy. Oh come on, he didn’t have to do Sokka like that lol He’s related to your unrequited love too, you know.
Aang’s going to train with Bumi, huh? At the end of NATLA, Azula had conquered Omashu and I don’t think Bumi was in any position to teach anyone anything lol we didn’t see that happen yet but I bet it either will or already did offscreen.
  1. Hmm… a shirtless Iroh is getting a massage from two buff men in pink uniforms. I know some people who would get excited at that idea!
Is Azula in that palanquin? She is, isn’t she?! Yes she is! And I can think of no better way to introduce her than by having immediately threaten to kill someone lol You guys don’t understand, my single favorite shot of NATLA was Azula smiling while she watched those people burn, the flames on their bodies reflecting in her eyes. It set the bar super high for me lol But this Azula seems to be, so far, just as evil as I hoped!
  1. “Mighty Katara? I like that.” Me too! Lol It’s nice to see that General Fung appreciates Team Avatar properly! Earthbending fireworks is pretty cool!
Interesting. General Fung has a good point here, and it’s one I’ve thought myself but haven’t really talked about. Aang’s avatar state is so overpowered it’s basically an instant win against anyone he fights. I’m glad that someone in-universe brought this up, and I predict this episode is going to give us the reason why he can’t just use the avatar state whenever he wants (Although, Kuruk kind of explained it in NATLA. Without being able to master all the elements he won’t be able to control the avatar state, which puts everyone around him in danger. Still that’s only a problem if he’s not alone… hey that’s why Kuruk wanted him to be alone!).
Okay, logically I know it’s better that Aang learn the elements first but I really do understand General Fung’s impatience. He’s been in this war his whole life, and seen so much death and destruction. Now he sees a chance to end it all, but if Aang takes time to learn the other elements first, even more people are going to die before he can end the war. I get it, is all I’m saying.
  1. YES! Azula lightning bending in NATLA was one of my favorite moments and I’m so happy I don’t have to wait to see her do it here! I’m also really happy to see that she still has her extreme perfectionist attitude in this version.
Oh… Iroh woke up to the sound of thunder just as Azula was practicing her lightning. Is that foreshadowing? You all know by now that I’m like 80% sure that Azula is going to kill Iroh at some point so Zuko can join Team Avatar. Is she going to kill him with lightning, and was this scene foreshadowing that?
Yeah, Aang has such a good heart. Of course he wants to go with the plan that causes the least amount of suffering.
  1. Katara’s right, but she’s not expressing herself well. She just snaps on them and storms away. I like that she has a character flaw in the form of her temper to balance out all of her other awesome traits.
Aang’s drinking enhancing tea. Lol is it just caffeine?
I actually that old guy’s mud idea. Honestly, if I were trying to figure how to induce the avatar state, physically combining the four elements into one is something I might actually consider doing.
  1. Aw, Iroh’s collecting seashells! (But is he going to enjoy them for years to come or is he going to die soon?) How did Azula get into their house without them noticing? Or was she there first and just waiting for the perfect time for a dramatic entrance? Lol
Ah, she called him Zuzu! Oh, she’s such a liar. I love it! Oh, and she’s aggressive toward Iroh even when trying to be “nice”. I am going to be so freaking nervous every time those two are sharing a scene.
Katara is so insightful and smart. She’s right, the avatar state is traumatic, not only for everyone else but probably for Aang too. Also, not to be “that girl” but she said “for the people who love, watching you be in that much rage and pain is really scary”. So… she kind of just let it slip that she loves him. Just saying. (I do understand she probably means it in a familial way, I’m just being cheeky)
  1. Iroh knows something’s up. Oh no, Zuko just insulted Iroh big time. Man, I really hope those aren’t his last words to his uncle. That would be so awful! And Iroh clearly loves him more than his father ever did, and when he realizes that he’s going to feel like shit!
No! Iroh’s going with him! Azula clearly intends to kill them both!
  1. Uh… what exactly is General Fung’s plan here? Even if he forces Aang to enter the avatar state by attacking him, he then has one very pissed off avatar who’s about to focus all of that destructive power directly onto him!
Oh, Aang can run up walls. That’s awesome lol
Oh shit, it’s about to happen. Iroh knows. Zuko’s such an idiot. You know who else is an idiot? The captain! “We’re taking the prisoners home.” Ooh, you see Azula’s glare? The captain is a dead man lol Oh no, they’re fighting. Azula’s not even bothering. She’s just letting her guards do the fighting. If they actually manage to beat the guards, then I imagine she’ll get involved and kill one of my favorite characters. I don’t like this!
  1. “Maybe you can avoid me, but she can’t.” Oh, the general’s a dead man too. Huh, cool parallels.
Oh my god, that would be such a horrible way to die. And Aang’s crying and begging him to stop. This is dark, dude.
I love the look on his face after “It worked!”. That “oh… it worked” face lol
  1. Oh damn, I love this! Azula vs Zuko! And she actually uses her fingernails like weapons too, slashing his head. She hasn’t even tried bending yet! This is giving me big “Ozai vs Zuko in NATLA” vibes. He’s going all out trying to win and she’s just playing with him. Oh man, is Iroh going to intervene to save Zuko and die as a consequence? I don’t want to press play!
Oh… guess not. He took her lightning and shot it somewhere else. He did the same thing to natural lighting in Book 1, if I recall. During The Storm, right?
  1. Oh, Roku just snatched Aang’s spirit right out of his body lmao He’s dropping exposition on us now, explaining what the avatar state is. KYOSHI! I SEE KYOSHI! AND KURUK! My babies are all here! Oh, and that’s the other airbender avatar, the one before Aang. Brother Gyatso took Aang to her statue in NATLA. Crap, I can’t remember her name. I have no idea who that other avatar is lol
Oh shit. So if Aang dies in the avatar state, he won’t reincarnate. He’ll just cease to exist. I’d say that’s a pretty big damn good reason not to use the avatar state!
Azula’s threatening people. So are those people in the pink outfits Fire Nation colonists? That makes so much sense from a thematic point of view. The Fire Nation army is all decked out in red, but the civilians are in pink. Maybe it’s meant to symbolize their innocence in the war, or their separation from their home country. I imagine plenty of Fire Nation descendants were born in the Earth Kingdom.
Well, Zuko and Iroh just cut their hair. I’m pretty sure that’s symbolically important. They’re both fugitives now, not only banished but actively being hunted down by the Fire Nation. Does that mean they’re no longer villains?
Alright, that was an incredible episode! After the bitter taste the Book 1 finale left me with, that was exactly what I needed to remind me why I love Avatar!
Episode 2- The Cave of Two Lovers
  1. Hey, I know this! The Cave of Two Lovers was a thing in NATLA too! The hippies explained it to us lol Oma and Shu, the lesbians who first started earthbending (I know they’re not lesbians in this version, but they will always be lesbians in my heart) used to meet in that cave. This is gonna be a fun one! Am I gonna get to see a badgermole? Lol I think so!
Erm… Aang’s a little “hot for teacher” right now lol I suppose that makes sense. They’re both in their underwear and now she’s pressing up against him. How is else a twelve year old boy supposed to react You know, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to have Katara teach him waterbending lol Also, can I just praise the writers and animators for having the sheer gall to go there?
Also, I love how she’s not babying him. She’s throwing ice spears directly at him with the expectation of him catching them! If he screws up, she’ll impale him!
THE HIPPIES!!! I love them so much! Lol But, uh… maybe don’t compliment a minor’s underwear though.
  1. Zuko looks so weird with hair! Also, I love his little tantrum lol I guess a prince wouldn’t be used to hard living. Iroh’s willing to risk poisoning to get delicious tea and I love that for him. Zuko’s going fishing, and I also love that for him. I wish I were going fishing but the weather so far has not been cooperative lately.
So… that guy in the pink and white robes gushing about the never ending rainbow… is his deal what I think his deal is? Lol “Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel! Through the mountain!” It’s the same song from NATLA! I love the hippies so much!
“Secret love cave. Let’s go.” lmao
  1. Aw poor Iroh! You know, one time while camping I was running around naked in the woods (don’t ask) and I fell into the bushes and got poison ivy everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Most miserable three weeks of my life!
Lmao I love how the Fire Nation’s mortal enemies are still a preferable option to being turned over to Azula.
Lol I love Sokka. And Aang is adorable! Trust in love little buddy!
  1. Oh, these are the Zuko and Iroh moments I love. Just them hanging out in the world, chatting with Earth Kingdom people. Mushi and Lee, huh? I like it. Also Iroh does look very similar to how I looked during the poison ivy incident. The way to Iroh’s heart is with roast duck!
Badgermoles are messing up Sokka’s map! They need to feel some strong love, so the badgermoles will sense it and help them.
Yes, Zuko! Feel that guilt! Realize what the enemy actually are: people, just like you. That’s the key to stopping atrocities and war everywhere, understanding the other side’s humanity.
  1. Wolf bats? Those weren’t in NATLA. Creepy! Also, jesus Sokka! He practically set Appa on fire!
Oh, it is hard to watch Zuko slowly regain his empathy and compassion. He’s really the only hope for ending the war, I think. Even if Aang beats Ozai, someone has to be in charge. Either Iroh or Zuko needs to assume the throne and end the war, and since I’m pretty sure Iroh’s gonna die any minute now, it’s probably going to be Zuko.
I would love to hang out with hippies.
Oma and Shu’s graves! Oh, I love Katara’s telling of their story and this artwork. So beautiful.
Wait no, the hippie’s idea might actually work! Badgermoles are blind, so they get around via hearing and sensing things, right? They’re also intelligent and can communicate with humans. So if they play a love song, the badgermoles might hear it, and they’ll know that the hippies and Sokka are friends to love, and help them!
  1. Ah! Lol be honest, Katara, are you just using this as an excuse to kiss Aang? Oh… Aang, buddy, you fucked up.
Oh… that was one of the more heartbreaking moments on this show. Zuko steals their bird, and forces Iroh to go along with it. And the look on the girl’s face when she saw them and closed the door… I feel like crying.
Oh! Oh!!! Did Aang and Katara just kiss?! I know it’s a bit weird to be excited by the idea of two kids kissing but I’m gonna chalk it up to my inner child rooting for them. Go, Kataang!
  1. I love the badgermoles! They didn’t attack, and not just because they love music! But because Sokka and the hippies are full of love! They probably sensed Sokka’s fear and worry for his sister and Aang and came to the rescue.
I kind of forgot about the crystal thing.
Momo and Appa are straight up talking to each other! I wonder what they’re saying?
“Nobody react to what I’m about to tell you, but I think that kid might be the avatar.” *smack* lmao I love the hippies and Sokka.
Yep! Omashu has been conquered!
This episode makes me really appreciate the second half of the Omashu arc in NATLA even more, and it also makes me realize just how impressive the NATLA writers are! If you read my NATLA reactions you may have some idea of this, but… the themes of this episode tie perfectly into its NATLA counterpart! But not just the tunnels and Oma and Shu, but also Bumi’s arc and Iroh and the Earth Kingdom soldier. All of the themes about love, about losing hope, about realizing your enemies are human, all of those are present in this episode too! Even Iroh and Zuko’s visit to that Earth Kingdom family!
Of everything I’ve seen so far, I think NATLA’s writers did their best work with Episode 4- Into the Dark. Watching this episode now makes me realize just how much thought and planning they put into it!
So far I am very impressed by Book 2! Maybe it’s just my imagination, maybe it’s just because I’m not constantly comparing it to NATLA, but it seems like the writing for these last two episodes has been better than Book 1’s writing.
Episode 3- Return to Omashu
  1. I’m only just now noticing that the Fire Nation erected bridges to get to the city. That explains why the earthbenders didn’t just collapse their rock bridges!
Of course Aang wants to save Bumi. And he’s getting a little aggressive about it too! Meow!
Lmao Aang and Katara just bend the sewage but Sokka gets it all over him! He’s gonna get pinkeye! And possibly cholera.
  1. Or he’ll get adorable eldritch monstrosities stuck to his face.
“We better go wash our hands.” It’s nice to see that the Fire Nation takes hygiene seriously. Can you imagine a plague running through a society and a bunch of them would refuse to do even the bare minimum to stop it, like wash their hands or stay at home? Crazy!
These twin old ladies intrigue me. I wonder what their deal is.
  1. Wait, Mai? Is that Azula’s friend from NATLA? The monotone emo one?
Oh hey, Aang just saved those Fire Nation people from the people they’ve conquered and oppressed! That’s… good for him? Lol But now those same people are attacking him. Mai is kind of a badass, isn’t she? Likes to hide sharp projectiles up her sleeves and seems to be really good at aiming them lol
Hey, that’s Azula’s other friend! Holy shit, she has incredible core strength.
Bumi didn’t fight back at all? That sounds suspiciously like something NATLA Bumi do, in a “please end my torment” kind of way lol I’m curious to see this Bumi’s reasoning. Also, not only did Aang prevent the assassination of Fire Nation officials, he’s also convinced the resistance to give up and leave without a fight. ...are we sure he and Bumi aren’t secret Fire Nation spies? Lmao
  1. Sokka’s so smart. I love him. And I just love how seriously the Fire Nation Governor takes a potential epidemic. Now that’s quality leadership. Ahem.
THEY ENSLAVED FLOPSY?! Bastards!
Wow, that is one strong, fast, and resilient baby. Fire Nation people are just built different, I guess. I’m not even worried about him wandering out with the fake sick people. He can probably fend for himself just fine lol
  1. Why does Azula’s presence at this circus feel ominous? Oh, that’s why. Is she threatening… her name’s Ty Lee, right?
Well, Bumi can’t be dead. People in the comments kept going on about how great he’ll be later.
“The universe is giving me strong hints that it’s time for a career change.” Oh, is “The Universe” her nickname for Azula? Understandable, she’s clearly a goddess. But this is interesting! Azula had to threaten Ty Lee into going with her! That suggests her “friend” may not be as friendly as she thinks. We didn’t get to see much of Ty Lee or Mai in NATLA, but nothing I saw there hinted that they were anything but fully supportive of Azula. But if Azula has to threaten Ty Lee to get her to fall in line, that could lead to problems for her later down the road.
  1. Lmao I love it when Katara smacks Sokka.
The Fire Nation governor is making quite a gamble offering Bumi for his son. Not only is Bumi the old king but he’s an incredibly strong and skillful earthbender. Could be a major threat to him! Then again, is there anything we won’t do for those we love? Well… I doubt Ozai would do that much for Zuko lol
God, imagine having to carry a freaking palanquin up all those stairs. “Please tell me you’re here to kill me.” lol I like Azula’s friends. Oh wow, I love Mae’s nails. Oh wait, Mae is spelled “Mai”. Sorry, my bad!
I love how Azula just casually wields the power to rename an ancient city. Gives me Alexander the Great vibe lol New Ozai, huh? It’s okay. Not very creative but whatever. Got to suck up to daddy in the never-ending struggle for a crumb of affection from him.
  1. Oh wow, we’re getting Team Azula vs Team Avatar! I am so hyped for this.
Holy shit, Mai is cold. She didn’t even try to disagree with Azula. Does she not care about her brother? Or does she know there’s no point in defying Azula and is just very good at going along with it?
Woah! Azula’s flames are so beautiful! We saw her fire turn blue a couple of times in NATLA. Here it seems to be permanently blue. Also, she’s a stone cold badass in this fight! She reacts quickly and is calm the whole time. Compare that to every time Zuko goes up against Aang. He gets all hotheaded and impulsive.
How does Ty Lee take away Katara’s bending? It looks like she was hitting nerves in specific places.
Man, Bumi is going to be feeling sore from this chase for a while lol
That whole fight was amazing… but it was also just a teaser. Nobody won, Aang and his group ran away. They didn’t beat Team Azula the same way they beat Zuko their first encounter, they escaped them. Much like the resistance couldn’t beat the invasion, so they escaped. And now Bumi’s about to tell us why he surrendered without a fight and I bet it fits the theme!
Hmm… I guess it kind of does. Neutral jing, huh?
Azula’s mission wasn’t even to capture the avatar. She just took it upon herself lol
Concluding thoughts: This season is great so far! It definitely has a more mature tone than the first, and I think the writing has improved. And it could just be my imagination but the animation looks sharper too.
Azula is the stand-out here! I had high hopes for her character because I loved her in NATLA and so far she’s not disappointing me! Weird, multiple people told me to prepare myself because her character in NATLA is different from ATLA but… so far they seem like the same person lol Obsessive perfectionist, check. Sadistic and merciless, check. Sucking up to Ozai, check. An absolute beast in combat, check. How is she different? Maybe she’ll change down the line but even if she does, I don’t think it’ll bother me because her introduction in both shows is basically the same character.
I will say I like cartoon Bumi a little bit more this time than in his first episode. At least here he has a semi-logical reason for behaving the way he does. So I guess y’all were right about that. He gets more interesting as the story progresses!
I’m very interested in Azula’s friends and her relationship to them. Ty Lee seems likes she’s being forced to tag along. Mai seems to be there willingly. Both are amazing fighters without bending.
Zuko and Iroh’s arc seems to be slowing down, and I actually love that. Some of my favorite Zuko and Iroh moments in Book 1 and NATLA is when they’re off on little adventures together. But this adventure seems like it’s going to be a big one! I can’t wait to see how it happens (right up until the moment Azula murders Iroh and Zuko runs off to join Team Avatar)!
Anyway, if these first three episodes are indicative of the quality of Book 2, then I can’t wait to see how awesome it’s going to get!

2024.04.15 21:31 genZcommentary I watched NATLA before watching the cartoon and now I'm watching the cartoon!

Crazy!

2024.04.05 15:04 Oidhreacht Wedding outfits

I'm putting a trigger warning here for possible transphobia, and in a weird way potential ablism/ whatever it is when your against neuro-diverse people. I'd love advice on what people think of these tags so
Ok so, long story short, my (22 MtF) sister (21 Cis F) has recently got engaged, congratulations for her. We don't talk a lot, I ran from my parents when I was 21 after finally managing to take away their power of attorney (long story not relevant to the story). I visited for 2 days recently for my dad's (60 Cis M) 60th, upon which on the second day there I was told that my invitation to the wedding was in fact "conditional" on my Ma (58 Cis F) and her friend dressing me. Now I don't trust this for a number of reasons, 1 of which I've a dress I went to a friend's wedding in just two weeks ago, it's red and black (I'm normally quite gothic and I did check with the grooms beforehand before anyone asks if it's too black or anything, it's red with black decals, and if need be I'll post the dress for your approval). My point is, I don't trust them, and feel kinda offended, they've never liked how I dress and blame alot of my "issues" including how I dress on my autism cos I've "not matured properly" (again I'm normally very punk/ emo in my dress sense, and I really like it, it suits me imo). I also don't trust them not to try put me (22 MtF) in a men's suit, my sister's never used my pronouns or name since I came out, always deadnameing and musgendering me, same with my dad, and my ma is 50-50, normally 'correcting' herself or using a nickname I despise and have asked her not to use (but i still prefer to my deadname so.
I knew I wouldn't be asked to be a bridesmaid, idek if I'd want to cos I'd not want to be stood at the front anyway. But I don't trust and dislike the idea of being dressed like I'm a child, I'm 22, I've lived on my own for well over a year nearing 2, and love in another country for uni. But at the same time idk if it wouldn't be worth letting it all happen to see my sister's wedding, I know we don't always see eye to eye, but besides the trans issues she's a good sister and they're a great family, so I'm a bit confused on what to think or do.
I'm not even sure if she was joking or not about the 'condition', but going off the look I got when I said I'd already a dress I wore to a wedding and showed her what I wore earlier she just gave me a look so
Please wise people of trans Reddit, ask for anymore information or context you need and give advice and thoughts
P.s. I wouldn't mind wearing a different dress or something, it's more the fact that they'd be picking what I wear and I already get made to feel second class about them
