“WHAT THE FUCK WAS SHE THINKING?!” Aenar shouted in Valyrian, hoping that at least some of the servants didn’t understand, as Laena took another drink from her goblet. She hadn’t spent much time in the Red Keep, mostly due to it still being under construction.
For his own pre-occupation, Aenar paced around the chamber, his steps heavy with the emotion that was on his face and in his mind. His mother could have just thrown it all away, all that he had tried to build in his short life. He’d kept his composure there in the tent, then again as they traveled to King’s Landing.
He’d done it all right, all of it. He caught them speaking out of turn, caught them committing treason, they followed his orders, he asked for death only to be ready to change his mind to mercy, to accede to the plea of his vassal. Of course the Westerling couldn’t keep his mouth shut, he would have lived the rest of his days at the Wall or escaped during the travel for all he cared, as long as he was never seen again, but no, he spoke ill of Rhaenys Targaryen right in front of her.
Very few had seen her that way, the way she got when some injustice was had against her or another woman. Why would this infuriate her so, why of all things did this have to be the thing that set her off so. He’d seen her do it in Summerhall once, she beheaded a man for striking his wife. They were told he was exiled, but Aenar saw the blood and hair in the courtyard. He knew what that meant. It was one of the first times he’d snuck around like that, beginning his craft.
Of course now he mostly paid others for it, to be his sneaks, pressing the importance that they never reveal his name if caught and their designated beneficiaries will be paid in piles of gold, not pieces.That was why he only employed those with a spouse, a child perhaps, old and ailing parents. Those without anything had nothing to lose after all.
As he paced up and down the room, his hands on his hips, glaring at the floor as he went as if the secret to his mother’s reasoning was hidden in the patterns of the floorboards. Laena for the matter watched, with each step and each loop she watched. Every three loops she took a drink but rather quickly determined that he was going rather too quickly for her to keep pace.
“Aenar, sit down, please, you’ll wear out the soles of your shoes,” before she watched his near non-reaction.
“No, I’m fine, and shouldn’t it be Princ-” he stopped speaking and looked up to Laena, who raised an eyebrow to his words. “Sorry, there’s a lot of stress on me right now. Just a lot going on…,” he said as the words faded into nothing, though there still seemed to be more on his lips.
Rhaenys had asked Laena to sit with the man, to let him speak, to answer his questions as a close confidant might. He needed someone older to hear him out now, especially that he was too furious with his mother to speak with her.
“Sit,” she said curtly.
Aenar looked up from his pacing, she was right of course, but there was too much blood going through his heart to let him sit. Unless something calmed him he could not, as wine was not the mood of the day. He acquiesced to the request, sitting near Laena at the table in the middle of the chamber, though his left leg did not stop, it kept on bouncing, almost as if it was still walking.
“Ask me the question,” she said looking at where his eyes would be once he looked up.
Just as she thought, Aenar looked up before asking, “what question?”
“Don’t play dumb, I know you know the question I’m talking about.”
He took in a breath, “why did she do it? Why would she risk it all for the thrill of quick and satisfying revenge? She knew what it meant to me, I could have looked the merciful prince. Kingly even.”
Laena took another drink from her cup. She knew it would come to this and she had prepared for it over the past day. This story would need to be told.
“For me.”
Confusion overran his face as he hardly believed what he heard. “What do you mean for you? You asked for this? Why?”
“One question at a time, though one of them is irrelevant. No I did not, she believes it is right to have done it for me?”
“Because of what happened when we were young girls, tell me young Aenar, what do you know of my relationship with your mother?”
His leg stopped bouncing as the question was asked, it seemed nearly inappropriate but something deep within his mind told him it was not quite that. He sighed before answering, “you and my mother are…,” he thought of the right word, “bedmates. I’ve seen you kissing, I’ve seen the way you look at one another. I know what it means.”
“Okay good, no secrets then, what do you know of the man? You know of who I speak of, yes?”
“Of course I do, it’s much the same, though I don’t know why you don’t just marry him.”
She smiled at the comment, “no secrets then, it’s quite simple really. I don’t wish to,” she giggled.
“Sure, but would it not make it easier for you? And him? Perhaps he could tell people who he was then?”
“That will never happen. And yes, it would be easier, save for the part where he cannot say his name, he cannot show his face, I’ll hardly kiss a man on my wedding day without seeing his face now will I?”
Aenar paused before he answered, it made sense in truth. “I suppose not, and you also said you didn’t wish to, my apologies for prying.”
“No offense was taken, it was a natural question. Now, back to the topic, why did I ask you about the three of us?”
Aenar let out a small laugh, “if Tyraxes, Tessarion, and Meleys gave me all of their combined knowledge I would not know.”
“Good, then your mother kept her mouth shut, well I will tell you then as it is my story to tell and I have spent some time preparing to tell it. You see, your father knew about me and Rhaenys, in fact your grandfather, your aunt, all of them knew. Your father was aware that we laid with one another as they were married as well, he didn’t seem to mind. ‘It’s only fair,’ he said one time.” She laughed before continuing, “we would have preferred them not to know but such was the way.”
She continued, not before taking another drink from her cup. “Rhaenys and I had been friends since we were children, naturally as we grew up certain… feelings appeared. We must have been twelve, maybe thirteen when we first kissed. Things progressed as you would imagine, however we always found that the most enjoyable time was when we were aboard a ship, we spent hours having breakfast, then lunch, and even dinner on board before heading back to Dragonstone. We had privacy, and we had selected the crew so that they all had a reason to not speak about what they saw. Mostly because they were like us.”
Aenar wondered what the point of this story was, however he was focused, this had something there. It would put out that burning question.
“She had asked me to give her a kiss as we docked one day, in front of everyone at the dock. I said no but she asked again, and I gave in. The thrill of it was something I almost lived for, for that one moment I could be myself around others, but that didn’t last long. My father was waiting for me at the dock, he had a message from my grandmother from Volantis that she sent to me. Instead he saw me kissing a woman,” she paused and took in three sharp breaths. Her heart was beating out of her chest, but the breaths slowed her breathing, she could do nothing about her heart.
“Give me just one moment,” as she took two drinks of her wine. “I was fifteen, as was your mother, and he screamed at the top of his lungs, I will never forget this. ‘I will not have a degenerate for a daughter!’ He walked the gangplank and grabbed me by the wrist, dragging me off the ship. As my feet touched the ground he hit me across the face such that I almost fell over.”
“There are two versions of what happened next, your mother thought I was hit, read my grandmother’s letter which did in fact ask me to visit, and I went to Volantis for a year. My version of the story is not quite that. He asked permission to keep me in one of the dungeons, which he did. I was chained to the wall for nearly every hour of the day, except for the hour or so he took them off every few days.”
She turned away from Aenar as tears pooled in her eyes, wiping them away quickly, “sorry once again, this just brings back quite a lot of memories,” she said with a small laugh, riddled with how much of a farce it was. She took another drink of her wine as she saw Aenar’s face. She had been looking at the boy, but she had not seen him. There was glass over his eyes, his expression frozen in terror.
“He had a man tail Rhaenys, report on everything she did and write it down, then he’d read that report back to me, in excruciating detail, hitting me every once in a while. He bought the ship we’d sailed on and set it ablaze in the bay.”
“Fortunately for your mother, she did not know any of this, she kept on giving her life, the joyous woman that she was, a giggle at every turn, and she even tamed Meraxes. Sorry bonded with, she’s very clear on the distinction,” she looked at Aenar with a smile, which he tried to return but could not muster the muscles in his face.
“The man found out about this, and took it upon himself to solve the problem. He entered during one of these visits. I don’t know how he opened the lock, I don’t know why the guard didn’t stop him, but they saw what he did next. One moment I was purple from the bruises, the next I was red with my father’s blood. He took me to Rhaenys, he had seen us together before and figured she would at least offer me protection. Instead he and I saw Rhaenys the way she was in that tent for the first time. It was like she was a different person. She tried to embrace me and when I winced and moved away, she handed me a cloak. She took a key off her keyring and told me this was how to open the door to the room, then she left, locking me in but with a way to leave should I wish to.”
Her breaths lessened, relaxed, as her shoulders rolled down to where they were usually. “They told me they paid the guard not to say a thing, they pretended the man left for Pentos, when really she flew out to the sea and picked him back up. He would hide in her rooms from then on. They hid the body but we still knew the guard had seen it all. My family in Volantis issued a warrant for his arrest and sent it to Dragonstone, the reward was the equivalent of five thousand gold dragons. When Summerhall was built, he had more free reign, as we hadn’t really been friends before then but we still kept to the precautions. My mother returned to Volantis and I refused to follow her. She knew what my father had done, she knew and did nothing.”
“I spent months unable to be touched by the woman I loved even then, I hardly ate, I watched as your mother married from afar, afraid of the crowd. Your mother must have apologized for asking me to kiss her three thousand times by now, she says she doesn’t blame herself, but it's pretty clear she does. That is why she executed that man on Summerhall, that’s why she did what she did to Jon Westerling. The First Night piece was something she meant to discuss with your aunt first, but I doubt that she would have an issue with it. Does that explain it?”
Aenar stared, the tears no longer just over his eyes but falling down his cheek as well. He didn’t speak before standing to get a cup and filling it on the table. He downed the cup and then poured another. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” he managed to get out.
“I don’t really deal with it much anymore, I have a nightmare here or there, but your mother wakes and wakes me. The memories live on sometimes, but they have faded. Even ten years ago I remembered much more detail, not so much anymore. And all I have on my body is this scar,” she said, showing her right inner bicep.
“I don’t know what to say,” Aenar said after a brief silence.
“Nothing, you don’t need to. You just need to understand. What she did was a mistake, but you were brave for accepting the challenge.”
Aenar did not answer.

So my friend Craig (20M) invited me (20M) and two other friends (Elle (20F) and Sam (20M) over to his house. The plan was that we would play fear pong (if you don't know what it is, it is beer pong but with dares under each cup) and smoke some weed and have a good time. So for the game of fear pong since none of us drink, we subbed it out with taking a hit of the vape every time our cup gets out. Now I own the game of fear pong and I am the only one with weed and a vape so Craig asked if I would bring both. I don't mind letting them use my weed because we do not usually smoke together often and I get it at a decent price.
Craig lives in a rural area and is surrounded by the woods. I am a paranoid person and it gets worse when I'm high. Craig doesn't like the smell of weed in his house so for each hit we would go outside and take it. Since my vape is a dry herb vape, it usually takes like 30 seconds for it to power up and reach the right temp so it wasn't just a quick trip outside. Every time one of them would take a hit, I would go with them because it's my vape and also to keep them company, but every time I took a hot they wouldn't come outside. I told them I don't like going outside by myself because I have a fear that someone is in the woods and they kind of just brushed it off as a joke. I pretty much said it like every time I had to go outside and I think someone came with like twice. It isn't even a far walk, it is just the distance from the dining room to the kitchen door.
Anyways, at the end of the game I ended up winning by a lot so I said that I would take another hit at the end so they aren't the only ones that got really high. I went outside, waited for my vape to turn on, and took a hit. Since it was the last one I thought I would ask if they wanted anymore before I get rid of it. I yelled inside if they wanted some and I got no response. I yelled again because I thought they didn't hear me and got no response. I went inside to check and they were all gone. I heard them on the other side of the house in Craig's room playing a videogame. I honestly felt really shitty in that moment because they didn't even bother to tell me that they were going to go play. I looked at the table and there where ping pong balls left on the table, all the cards weren't put away, but they at least emptied the water we put in the cups.
At this point, it was late at night and I was going to head home anyways so I just cleaned up my stuff, cleaned up the table (there was water from the cups that splashed on the table and dishes they used). I figured that I was already cleaning up my own stuff so I cleaned up the rest of everything too so Craig wouldn't have to deal with it. I honestly wanted to see how long it would take them to notice that I wasn't there so I took my time cleaning up. It took 20 minutes for Sam to come check on me. I was pretty upset by the whole thing and honestly just wanted to leave. I went to Craig's room and he asked where I was. I told him that I was cleaning up. He seemed kind of annoyed? (sorry I really don't know how to explain it but he seemed like annoyed but upset). He said that I should have just left everything, but I told him that half of it was my stuff so I obviously wanted to clean up. He didn't say anything so I told him I was going home and he just said to get home safe (I didn't drive so don't worry).
Anyways the whole situation has me feeling kind of shitty because I feel like they just genuinely didn't care about me in that moment. I thought that maybe it was because they were high, but I took the same amount that they did and I still considered how they felt and stuff. I want to tell them that what they did made me feel like shit but part of me is saying that I didn't have to clean up and I am just making a big deal out of nothing and it wouldn't be far to them since they just wanted to have a fun time and play videogames after.

as said title, my bf and i have been in the talking stage for quite awhile, before pursuing our relationship together.
my bf is very quiet, observant, and shy, let alone introverted. we’ve been doing long distance, as i moved from australia to live abroad in europe to continue my studies. we met online, but we did come from the same city, yet never had the chance to meet. he was very open about himself, as well as his family & upbringing.
it was going well, until he mentioned that he lost his virginity to an MPS. his father speculated him of being h/omsexu@l, so, he was pressured to lose his v-card to prove his sexuality. he comes from a strict ethnic household, not that it clarifies or validates his father’s actions.
he stated that he’s never been in a relationship before, hence being pressured by his father. he also has vast interest in things that may have raised concerns from his father, hence his decision to pressuring my said bf, to going. during the time, my bf wasn’t in the right headspace, let alone had the best relationship with his family, which lead him into going, because he didnt wanna cause any more problems, or continue to going against his father’s wishes. after it went down, his father says to him “now, i know that you aren’t g/@y”. very concerning.
i’ve always been there for him, supporting him & encouraging him to step out of his comfort zone, as i wish him the genuine best for himself, and his wellbeing, mostly, his mental health.
its been on my mind, so, i’d bring it up, until now, i asked him again, and his story changed. when i asked him the first time about his experience, he said it occurred ‘before’ we met, now, when i asked him again, he said with a heavy chest, trying to avoid the question, that he lost his v-card during our talking stage. it broke me.
should i even be mad? do i have the right to be angry with him? i feel like im indulging in someone else’s business without my right. i just feel sad that he lied to me, comfortably, then tried playing it cool afterwards. if he can lie to me about that, i can only imagine what else he’s lied to me about. am i wrong for getting mad at his that he lost his v-card DURING our talking stage?
its not my business to confess, but, im sure anyone would be left in shambles knowing that, if it happened to you; it would feel wrong too.

I think PoC is now seriously missing hard content as even lissandra was already plenty beatable with just 2/3 Stars.
Therefore I want to make my life in PoC a bit harder. I'm looking for fun challenges. Currently I think about stuff like:
Picking only the most expensive cards.
Playing allways just the leftmost card in my hand ( or second leftmost).
Avoiding a champions mechanic such as playing Nila without ever playing fleeting card etc.
What other Challenges do you guys have for me ?

Hello guys, I need some help with my new (1 week old) Dell laptop. It's not near a gaming laptop, but it's decent for what I wanted to play and a real improvement when compared to my last laptop. The first game I downloaded when I got it was World of Warcraft retail and it was running just fine at 50~60 fps on quality 6 (plus The Sims 4 and Age of Empires 3 DE on max settings and 60+ fps). Just one week later and today WoW was running on 15~30 fps and even hitting 7 fps on random occasions. Lowering quality does not affect it. I gain some fps but still it hits 7~10 at random. Energy saving is turned off, I always play with charger plugged, drivers ans bios are up to date, fullscreen optimization is disabled, it's not overheating and I use a SSD... Even the other games are having extremely low fps problems and I really don't know what's causing all of this... Should I seek a professional? Is it a faulty product or am I doing something wrong? Any help, tutorial or opinion is welcome.

I feel like the word bottleneck is thrown around too loosely as of late. Let’s have an example , if someone has a Ryzen 7 5800x (non 3d) and a 4080 ti , obviously you won’t be getting the full performance of the card , but people say “bro if you play in 1080p your cooked” if I’m getting 400 fps in 1080p, 200 fps in 1440p and lower in 4k , isn’t 1080p the best to play in ? Even if the card isn’t “Being utilized mostly” I can’t honestly see why that matters if I’m getting HIGHER fps in 1080 than in 1440p or 4k. The cpu works harder at lower res but still gives more FPS than 4k so I don’t understand why people throw around the word so loosely . Sorry if I’m rambling on someone please educate me further because I’ve played in 1080p and 1440p on a 5800x3d and 4080 and between both resolution yes 1440p LOOKED better but 1080p obviously gave more fps .

Just recently upgraded my system from AM4 to LGA 1700. Graphics card was the same from the old system.
The system boots and runs fine during non demanding tasks, however when I open any game and try to play, it’ll run for about 2 minutes then my monitors go black and the PC becomes unresponsive. The fans still stay on and spin and the lights do not change but nothing else works and I have to restart before it works again. Same thing happens without fail when I try to play anything. The only thing I took from my old system was my GPU, the case, cooler and PSU were previously run with a different AM4 system but I repurposed those for this build. The motherboard, CPU and RAM are new. GPU is hooked up to motherboard through a PCIE 4.0 Riser cable.
Just before the “crash”, event viewer reports an application error for “monitor.exe” which is the ASUS GPUTWEAKIII program. Reliability Monitor reports a Hardware Error with name:LiveKernelEvent and Code: 141.
Does anyone have any ideas what it might be before I tear it apart and test all of the components 1 by 1? Some ideas I have might be RAM incompatibility causing instability or inadequate CPU mounting pressure as I am still waiting on a LGA 1700 mounting bracket from NZXT and currently using the LGA 1200 one.

it seems like gacha games are very much hated here and i understand, there's a lot of pointless sexualization which is already a big problem in a lot of games.
But I love the RPG elements and the gameplay loop is kind of addicting, plus many of the character designs are very cute or cool so i kind of collect them like playing cards, which i guess is the point of gacha (the collecting aspect).

I (F17) and my boyfriend (M18) both planned to play Wuthering Waves together. He started playing a little earlier than I did since I took a nap, but when I started to play and the game displayed which main character we should play. Being curious, I asked him which character he chose, he replied saying he chose the girl character. I asked him why, because I was secretly hoping he chose the guy, but I knew he wouldn’t. He then replied that if he’s going to be staring at his character a lot, it might as well be a girl. I was taken aback by his response since it just didn’t sound right to me, and I told him that’s a weird response and that he didn’t seem to change (refer to Context). Then he started raising his voice at me asking how is that weird, it’s just a fictional character, and that I’m being upset at a fictional character. Then I mentioned how this is reminding me of our Baldur’s Gate incident, which he replied sounding more annoyed. I decided to leave, as his whole reaction towards me was making me a bit sad,
For context: Back when Baldur’s Gate was popular, we played together but he wanted the female characters to be fully nude. It upset me and I asked him to put their clothes back on, to which he abided by. Until I saw him playing it again with their clothes off. His reasoning for this was because he wanted to test out his graphics card, and I didn’t believe it. After a full argument about me being upset at him, he finally said his real reason was because it’s “eye-candy” and how it shouldn’t be affecting me as they’re just fiction.
AITAH for being upset at his response, or am I just being upset over nothing and being insecure because, as he says, they’re just fictional women.

When the jury is attempting to determine who played the best game is there actually a “trump card” or even a factor that is most important??
I always thought (as long as the jury doesn’t literally hate you) that control over the game was THE trump card. If you had more control of the game than the other two, you have the best starting case to win.
It feels like Charlie shared control with Maria for a lot of the game while Kenzie had little to no control. Maybe he didn’t articulate that or maybe it’s not true. But it feels like Kenzie won solely because people liked her.
As a result I now have no idea what it means to play the best game lol. (Even if there is no perfect formula, I feel as if SOMETHING pertaining to the game should be the most important factor.
