I'm patently awful at these things so I'll keep it as short and clear cut as possible.
1) Can it be a published module?
--Yes! However, I am not interested in playing any of the Lost Mines modules, or Princes as I have either played them previously or am currently in them.
2) What VTT platform?
--I prefer roll20 as that is where my entire experience lies. I'm willing to consider Foundry IF the DM actually has a compendium shared and is willing to be patient with a player who's never played on that platform before.
3) Gamestyle?
--Roleplay focused, integrated character backstories which could impact the world at large (or small). I enjoy games that utilize RP in and outta combat, as well as make it available for offline stuff during the week (via ICC/offline RP).
4) Milestone or XP?
--Milestone. Don't even offer if you're running XP.
5) Start to finish level?
--Start at 3 preferred. Less likely to insta-die to tripping over a rock, and that's when all the classes get their baseline subs. Finish: as stated, I'm looking for a longterm game, which entails late-game and high level play.
6) Homebrew
--I enjoy a game that permits SOME homebrew. Be it (DM approved) spells, classes, and occasionally races (usually in the form of custom stuff unique to the world!) or items, backgrounds, and house rules. Too many house rules is too much to remember alongside all the standard stuff, especially if homebrew is going to supercede standard.
--Homebrew worlds do not fall under this 'requirement' or the 'bans/limitations' note further down since such homebrew is relevant to the setting, and not the how to play content.
7) Content
--Unless it relates to the game's world/setting, I don't particularly enjoy banned races/classes/backgrounds/subs etc. If there's a large number of banned things in your game, I probably won't be interested.
--Prefer all published content to be available (i.e. if it can be found on 5etools, then it should be allowed)
8) Expectations (what I'm seeking from my DM, what you can expect from me)
--DM: Preparation, attentiveness, communication, punctual.
--Player: Attentiveness, communication, punctual, preparation, engagement.
--I do have 2 kids in the pre-teen and teen age range who may occasionally disrupt (quietly) with typical neediness. If you can't tolerate that, don't recommend your game. I've managed to play, successfully, for seven years without it being a problem. If I can make it through their toddler and young child stages, you can handle a momentary, non-disruptive distraction of me making sure my kids needs are met.
9) Audio/Video
--Audio only, done through discord. I do not want to be on camera due to my kids. Nor do I wish to be involved in a livestream. I'm here to have fun playing a game with like-minded nerds, not to perform for an audience.
10) Availability/Schedule
--Weekly, fridays with a start time on or after 7pm CST with an average run time of 3 hours.
11) Experience
--7 years in dnd 5e, with nearly 20 years on cooperative writing/RP forums. --Prefer roll for stats, but not a hard line.

I would die on this hill: ADHD is a spectrum of cognitive functioning and not simply a childhood disorder. You don’t outgrow it with maturity - it changes in some ways for worse or better with development - or more often it simply progresses.
It can get exponentially worse with ANY neurological, structural, or hormonal changes. It should be evaluated & screened for at major developmental milestones like around 5-7 (early school), puberty, childbirth years, & menopause. And after any head or neck injury, concussion, accident, major illness or virus with neurological consequences.*
I knew I had ADHD traits growing up but probably not the full criteria for diagnosis - until I had a head injury. Then I needed ADHD meds to be anywhere near normal. Looking back I should have been diagnosed way before, but I had already invented ways of coping. It runs in my family (ignored or denied), so it was not unusual behavior.
We start self medicating when there is no guidebook for our health issues. Sadly for women, this is the norm in medical care. Some people rely on caffeine (Diet Coke & coffee for me), some end up using supplements, pot, or worse drugs/alcohol.
This is a consequence of the lack of mental healthcare & education about cognitive issues. ADHD IS NEUROLOGICAL. It’s not an emotional problem. It’s not about having too many distractions. It’s not fake or laziness.
It’s a brain & neurotransmitter problem. Menopause is shown to change our brains-and no one talks about it. This is total medical neglect of women who are feeling they have lost their necessary cognitive and executive functioning, their education & career skills, their emotional stability & regulation, their intelligence. It’s like mom brain - it’s hormones. It’s not always temporary brain fog. It’s not a failing & it should be treated seriously.
*[Same with autism - which is one common co-occurring condition and an even bigger stigma. ASD overlaps with many ADHD traits, with broader physiological, emotional, social, cognitive, & medical/neurological impacts. I have lifelong traits of autism, and I probably qualify for the full diagnostic criteria. That goes against the general view that we must be diagnosed with these conditions in early childhood - when in fact they are developmental. AKA nature & nurture. They may not show up clearly until something in the environment or experience triggers them to get worse. Which is past the time we need help.
The classic traits may not affect us adversely or become unmasked until something causes symptoms to become unmanageable. I was always very skilled at managing and hiding any sign of adversity - most girls and women are naturally socially adept this way. I was surrounded by bullies and I knew how to appease them from infancy. My mother is a classic mean girl who picked on me from birth. I learned how to handle it & (sometimes barely) survive her.
That’s what I am seeing in so many people. I have avoided Autism testing because of the stigma. I have people who already use my ADHD diagnosis against me. I don’t need to give bullies and mean girls another weapon like menopause or autism right now. I am treading water right now before I speak out further.]

I have 2.5yo twins and lately they have been really testing. I know it’s just developmentally normal toddler stuff, tantrums, big feelings, fighting over toys.. the past week or so they have not been playing very well independently. The screaming and tantrums are making me feel so stressed out, to the point where I want to cry or throw up.
Sometimes in the moment it’s resulting in me binge eating a lot of their snacks- these binges are starting to take a toll on me because I’m gaining weight and it’s causing other issues for me like acne. It’s messing with my self esteem for sure!

My daughter is 5 months old and seems happy, well adjusted and is reaching her developmental milestones in a timely manner.
I started off with combi feeding, giving her two bottles a day- one with formula and one with expressed milk. All went well until about 2.5 months when she suddenly decided she hated the taste of formula. From then on she has been EBF.
She’s always been small, 9th percentile for weight and 27th percentile for height, but around the four month mark her weight gain started to slow down significantly.
Today I went to a paediatrician for a general check in and to get her weighed and the doctor told me she was very underweight and it was now a cause for major concern and I should be worried. She said my breast milk was not enough for the baby and I should have supplemented with formula a while back instead of just breast milk.
Anyway, she has now told me to start off on solids, which I will but I am also feeling terrible for not making sure my baby had formula to gain weight and hope it isn’t going to be problematic for her growth in any way. Just looking for reassurance I suppose that she will be absolutely fine because the doctor visit has me really stressed and upset.

Half way through my non-negotiable 90 days. Life has been incredibly stressful of late and I have no idea how I might have got through things if I had been getting drunk every weekend. I'm feeling much more even keeled emotionally, sleep is better and I hate life waaaay less. My relationship with my partner has improved and I have much more energy for parenting my toddler.
Keeping busy has been good, the days are flying by pretty quickly, and I'm now enjoying being sober in a way I had forgotten about since I fell off the wagon 6 years ago. I'm looking forward to staying sober with all of you for another 45 days and beyond, god willing.
Things that helped in the first couple of weeks: audio books of Alcohol Explained, This Naked Mind and The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober. I basically just listened to these any chance I could get and that kept me from drinking, until I started to forget about drinking a bit. And, of course, coming here every day and reading you wonderful people, even for just a few minutes. Couldn't do this without this community and I'm so grateful to you all for being here.
Anyway, it's not a huge milestone, but it's the longest I've been sober for a long time, and just wanted to say thanks SD!

My son was born at 35 weeks he has never hit a single milestone on time. He has an autism screening next week and I'm just trying to prepare myself. His therapists think he might have some sort of OCD, autism or anxiety. He is in our state's early intervention program and he has done occupational therapy, speech therapy, feeding therapy and developmental therapy.
My husband and I've been collecting a list of things that have been concerning for the last 6 to 9 months. I'm just wondering if these things seem worth having him tested for autism and what I should be expecting during his testing?
This is a random list completely out of order and not at all organized. I've made this list as things come to mind
[ ] Will quit eating if his hands get dirty [ ] Will stop eating if he drops food. Will not eat again until the "mess" has been cleaned up [ ] Does not eat well and when we cut his Kate Farms back he lost weight in a month [ ] His food needs to be separated and each section of his plate has to have food before he will eat [ ] He has had an upper scope, a lower scope, two swallow studies, anal, Botox He has prescriptions for Senna miralax and an appetite stimulant [ ] If his fork gets dirty we have to wipe it off before he will keep eating [ ] Mealtime takes one to two hours [ ] Most days he won't eat until 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. some days he will go all day without any food or water. He does not seem to be bothered by not eating [ ] Cries any time we try to have meal time [ ] Panics about things "coming apart" especially about food. He will say "back on" and cry [ ] He pockets food and uses his whole hand to shove food down his throat [ ] He will eat the same food for a few weeks at a time and that will be the only thing he eats and when he's done eating that type of food it takes us a few weeks to figure out something else he'll eat [ ] He has a food choice chart with pictures made by his DT to help with mealtime [ ] Knows what a horizontal stabilizer is on an airplane. Knows 8 or 9 planes parts and types [ ] Loves naming airplane parts, cranes, construction equipment, telescopes and trucks [ ] Loves wheels and gears and building things [ ] Used a medicine syringe as a screw driver to fix things around the house [ ] Blinks funny. Will hold both eyes shut for 2 or 3 seconds [ ] Will not get his hands dirty [ ] Hits and kicks during diaper changes [ ] I'm unable to change poop diapers without having to shower him because he won't stay still enough [ ] Cries every time he has a diaper change. He does not recognize when he's gone to the bathroom in his diaper [ ] We've tried a mirror, songs, hair brushes, TV, toys etc for helping with diaper changes [ ] Copies random phrases. "good job dude" or "hot dog" [ ] Bites every day. Mostly when happy or overwhelmed. Never during a tantrum [ ] I have to rip the tags out of his clothing in public [ ] He doesn't seem to care when we tell him his biting hurts or not to kick. [ ] Does not play alongside other children well. Does not follow directions or stay with the group like his peers [ ] Does not respond to his name unless it is called multiple times and then screamed [ ] Will only engage in conversations he starts [ ] Loves to fall down and crash. He will bloody his hands and then continue to throw himself down on concrete [ ] Covers his ears in public. When there is an air blower at the entrance he will freak out [ ] Loves to climb [ ] Loves to spin [ ] Head banging [ ] Loves flipping [ ] Is afraid of the dark [ ] Has little to no fear or sense of danger [ ] Gags himself with his hand until he throws up [ ] The vacuum scares him hair dryer scare him and he does not like it when the AC or heat kicks on [ ] Will get in your face to talk about something he is interested in but doesn't make good eye contact unless it's a topic he wants to talk about [ ] Will make eye contact briefly but will not hold it [ ] Plays with the same toys the same way every time [ ] Loves playing with small Legos especially the wheels [ ] Lines up his toys and food [ ] If we do something once it becomes our routine and it must be done over and over again [ ] Repeat the same words or phrases over and over again for a few weeks at a time [ ] He will have 2 hour long tantrums. We will do everything we can for him and we don't have any other things to help him. Last time we used a sensory brush and his z vibe. He will sound like he's having trouble breathing during these fits, has coughing fits and needs his inhaler [ ] He has trouble staying with his group and following directions at soccer and gymnastics. He doesn't like moving through rotations. He wants to stay in one spot [ ] He will zone out and we will have trouble getting his attention. We have to call his name multiple times and then scream his name for him to respond [ ] Had a speech delay. First word at 22 months [ ] Has trouble functioning outside of his routine. When we travel and we stay in our routine. He does great traveling as long as we follow our routine. He can't function if we change it up [ ] Will not lay on his back for diaper changes or bath time [ ] Freaks out if his hands are dirty [ ] He needs a tight squeeze when he gets upset but does not want to be touched unless he's asking [ ] Reacts well to changing tasks if we have a timer
[ ] Will stop writing his bike to clean leaves and dirt off of his tires [ ] Loves to be asked questions but will only answer yes and no questions. He doesn't always answer correctly [ ] He will pick a body part and say it hurts for weeks [ ] Everything has to be clean and picked up. He has to take every piece apart before putting a toy away like Legos, stackable boats in bathtub [ ] Refuses to leave Grandmamas house until all the mess is clean (toys and food) [ ] Never wants to be alone. Refuses to play alone unless he is outside or playing Legos. [ ] He's normally a very happy kid but the things that upset him makes it so he can't function [ ] Walk with his ear to shoulder [ ] Makes himself throw up [ ] Won't sleep unless his mouth is in the covers, his gray blanket in over his feet and his ceiling fan is on. He will lay in his bed and call for us to come fix it if we do it wrong. Ok this is going to be long so here goes. My son is 2 year 3 months old 4 months in 2 days. He is really speech delayed in expressive speech. First and foremost I need to tell his backstory. He was born 10 days early emergency c section due to cord being wrapped around his neck 4 x and a knot. He came out crying and all seemed well. 5 days later he started vomiting green threw up and wouldnt breastfeed. We took him to the emergency room he then got diagnosed with volvulus and had emergency surgery at 5 days old!! The surgery took 3 hours. All went well he had the lad’s procedure. We went home and continued life. We had to be careful because of his incision but not as much tummy time etc no baths. Anywho then right before turning two months he started puking green again!!! I freaked out to him to the ER and he had another surgery that took about 2/2.5 hours. After bother of these surgeries we had to stay in the hospital a week to almost two weeks. We had to starve him to let his intestines relax and he was hooked to wires so we couldn’t hold or comfort him. He cried bloody murder. And I didn’t sleep for a long time because I was so worried I just anxiety pumped (breast pumped) so he would at least have enough milk when he was able. We had to measure his feeding etc. after that I would say he didn’t act “normal” until close to 4 months old. You could tell he was in pain and always seemed sad and didn’t want to be left alone to sleep or anything.I’m assuming trauma. He then woke up one day smiling and everything was wonderful. He hit some of his milestones a little late but right in the time limit. Crawled at 10 months walked at 14. He walked really weird for awhile but I assumed it was because of his abdominal surgeries. He doesn’t walk weird anymore. At 18 months old he had a wild phase where he wouldn’t sit still or listen and when he got evaluated by early intervention at that time, the OT therapist stood overtop of him pointing out everything he did and yelling across the room at me. The other evaluators were nice . I was so put off by the OT therapist that I saw red lol. Anywho they said he needed all the services. Which I would have agreed with because he did act a little wild when I took him but to be honest o never left the house because of my PPA after his birth and him being sick. I was literally scared of everything, we also didn’t let him be very independent because of my husbands ocd so we literally did everything for him before he even knew he wanted it. I just laughed because he was into everything not giving a crap about anyone else. if they wouldn’t have discounted the beginning of his life as in why he walked weird and was speech delayed. They said his surgery had nothing to do with it, which I find hard to believe since the surgeon told me he could be delayed!! They said he wasn’t even ready for speech he would have a developmental coach instead anyways she did nothing beneficial besides act like my kid has asd, which is fine but he hasn’t been diagnosed with anything so it was kinda weird. So I got him re evaluated by another company that has all of the services but they are private company. I told them how traumatic my first experience was and they sent the speech coach who has years of experience and is amazing, to my house and the evaluation was night and day compared to the other one. She said he has a severe expressive language delay and maybe a little receptive delay (which she now says she doesn’t think he does) but he has reached all other milestones. She also said that kids are always ready for speech and couldn’t believe the other company said that .We worked with her for a couple of months and then she has surgery and was out for two months. We just started back up. In that time he did progress without speech. I do work with him too. He says some single words, momma, dadda, eat, oe (shoe),up, hi, red, een (green), yellow, duck, at (cat), happy, Andy (candy), bye bye, ball, apple, anna(banana)blue,bluey,etc I’ve counted maybe 50 but he doesn’t use them all the time. He also says bye bye dada, all done, ice cream, brr for cold and he says hot . He uses them in context too. He points to everything when asked down to a rug in a book or in his setting. He knows like 10 body parts. Follows commands and directions. He can sort shapes and colors. Play cooks in his kitchen play feeds his toys and is now obsessed with rolling cars around the whole house and you if you’re not careful!!He is very expressive with his father and I greets his dad and is so excited when he comes home from work, he dances, he definitely tells us what he wants and does show us things too He is very smart!!! His MIL thinks he is autistic. She is a chiropractor and has maybe met him 12 times and not for long periods of times. I’m not saying he is or isn’t but she is constantly making comments about how bad his speech is and how delayed he is. It drives me nuts like I worry enough I don’t need that!! She makes me feel like I’m not doing enough. The speech coach at this time doesn’t see anything concerning (I feel like when you try to teach him to talk or when he is shy his eye contact isn’t that good but otherwise he does it) . She said his situation is unique because of the fact he had anesthesia. Which my surgeon said he could have a speech and motor delay. Also if you google it if they have had more than one surgery before three the chances of delay in speech goes up to 87%!!! Anywho so she told me to wait on going for a diagnosis etc because he is making progress. But all I hear are my MILs remarks and i just want to make sure I’m doing enough or that I’m not completely oblivious. I don’t know what I’m looking for here, I haven’t talked to many people who had an infant that was exposed to anesthesia or that knows anything about it so I feel kinda alone. So maybe just hearing other stories not just about that but about speech delay may make me feel better. Thank you

It was a teen pregnancy; it really wasn't planned. I have WW, RPO and MCC installed and i guess one of them allows teen pregnancy even if teens are just messing around. It kinda shocked me but, i like the drama, so I kept it
Their child is now a toddler, but i aged him up to teen to see what he would look like, and he looks nothing like his parents?? the complete lack of chin and weird jawline was to be expected, but I'm very confused about this random orange skin tone, the random green eyes and this reddish brown hair color none of his parents or grandparents have; he basically got nothing from them.
Does random genetics just happen sometimes, or is it because it is a teen pregnancy and the game doesn't recognize it??
I'm going to give him a full cas makeover because i made him reach every milestone as a infant and I don't wanna start all over again. please reassure me that this is a bug so i wont feel too weird about editing him lol
Its also probably worth saying that i used some cc presets on the dad: the eyes, nose and mouth. Maybe its to blame for his child's lack of lips; should I avoid using those in the future if I want the sims to have children?

I'm here looking for some advice and maybe a bit of reassurance. I gave birth to my youngest son almost a month ago, and we were informed that he has DS. We knew this was a possibility due to my age (I'm 40), but all of the growth and development scans we had seem to indicate that he wouldn't have it. It was a bit of a shock, but honestly it was more overwhelming to find this out. Part of the problem is the pediatrician at the hospital talked to me briefly the day of my son's birth about it, but afterwards, we ended up having to deal with my son needing light therapy for jaundice, so all of our focus the last 3 days we were in the hospital was on his bilirubin count and how to best help him with that. No other mention of DS, other than his jaundice being common for babies with DS.
Now that we have dealt with that (he is now fine) our focus has turned back to DS and I'm feeling a bit lost and confused. We have seen a developmental pediatrician and are waiting for the blood work to confirm the diagnosis, but until then, I was just looking for some advice from other parents of kids with DS. I'm not sure what to expect as far as milestones or anything really. Also, we have a 10 year old son who knows nothing about his brother's diagnosis as of right now. Can anyone give me some advice on how to talk to him about this? Thanks in advance.

2024.05.21 18:42 kid_taxi Is 2yo overly anxious or am I overreacting?

My toddler (2.5m) is going through a phase right now that I believe is developmentally appropriate, but on a level that has me feeling it may be a bit much for his age? Not sure if we should let it run it's course or start asking his pediatrician for advice.
One example: If dad or I show any sign of emotion beyond "obviously happy" he starts asking "Are you happy, mama?" If he does something he knows he isn't supposed to, any exasperation on our end is met with "Sorry......are you happy, mama?" several times in a row. Sometimes he will just randomly ask if we're happy, like driving in the car to daycare this morning. If we say "Yes! I'm happy!" he might reply "OK...are you happy?" a few more times, like he's stuck in a loop, worried about our feelings. He has always been pretty in-tune emotionally (his teachers have always called him an old soul, whatever that means) but he's our first child so I don't have much to compare to.
The other thing, which to some extent is obviously developmentally normal, is at bedtime. When we tuck him in and say our goodnights he'll ask, "Keep me safe, ok?" We've been responding, "Yes, of course! You're very safe." We've explained monsters aren't real, we've talked about how safe our home is and how mom and dad are always making sure he's safe, etc. All in a cheerful, casual, trying-not-to-make-a-big-deal tone. Yet as we move to the door he'll ask 5 or 10 times, "Keep me safe, ok?" like he didn't hear our answer.
I'm probably overthinking it, dad and I both have varying degrees of anxiety ourselves, my husband's being a bit severe. It's always been in the back of my mind that our children may have their own struggles so it's possible I'm looking into things too much, go figure! I dont want to project my anxieties onto him and cause some self-fulfilling prophecy. I guess I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, and looking for advice on what to do next, if anything. I don't want to turn this into a Big Deal if it isn't necessary, just want to raise happy, healthy kiddos!

Hi everyone! This is my first post to this sub, so forgive me if it is misplaced or missing appropriate context.
My daughter turned 3 a few weeks ago and is in daycare. It is also important to know that she was (what we thought to be) successfully potty trained within the past six months, and we just recently moved into a new home about 40 minutes away from where we lived previously, resulting in a shift in our routines to accommodate a longer commute to and from daycare. Before our move, she had maybe one accident a week and was great about listening to her body and using the potty.
In the past few weeks since we moved into our new house, our daughter has been coming home from daycare more often than not with soiled clothes and sheets. We attributed this to the disruption of our usual routine and the shock of the change from our move, however after a discussion with one of her teachers this morning at drop-off, there seems there may be more to the increase in "accidents".
Her teacher stopped me to ask if we are putting her in an overnight diaper at home, to which I responded "Yes, of course". She let me know, "That may be what is holding her back -- they won't put her in a diaper at naptime in her next class." And then it clicked -- they haven't been putting her in a diaper at naptime in her current class in preparation for her upcoming transition to the next class in August (we were notified of the upcoming transition right around the same time we moved into our new home). I didn't say anything other than, "Oh, okay. We can work on that" at the time, but now that I've had more time to process this, I am honestly infuriated. She just turned three and is newly potty trained -- to me, it would seem intuitive that she is not ready or is not yet capable of holding her bladder while she sleeps, yet her teachers seem to be trying to force her into meeting milestones on their timeline to accommodate their need to push children through classrooms to make room for the next students. I mean, a quick Google search indicated that children start holding their bladder when sleeping around 4-5 years old...
All this to say, am I justified in being so upset, or is the forced change of sleeping without a diaper developmentally appropriate for a newly three-year-old child? I wanted to crowdsource some opinions from other moms before I request to speak with the daycare director and her teachers; the outside insight is welcomed and much appreciated!

SS is an only child of 3yrs old and BD has had 50% custody for 2 years. The toddler is in daycare when with us, and 1 whole day with Dad on his day off. As Step Mom im only alone with him for a few hours at a time for pick-up/drop offs at daycare until Dad comes home from work. Then Dad takes over meals, bath, bedtime etc. No other kids in our home.
I let BD do the parenting and stay out of most situations (unless the child hits me or other similar scenarios). I work in young adult psychiatry (not as often with neurodivergent kids) so i know my boundaries though im doing my best to freshen up on material. But typically ive worked with children for 10 years from Nannying to now Psychiatry.
Toddler has been showing signs of autism and his Dad asked me if he thinks the child should be screened around his 4th bday so that we can shift parenting tactics to help him. (I never mentioned autism, Dad brought it up to me first). I affirmed Dad based on my experiences with milestones, but apparently BM doesnt believe the child needs it. When with us, the only bad behavior ive noticed is that the child has trouble distinguishing playtime versus seriousness. Toddler pushes the limits quite often thinking its playtime. When trying to give the toddler directions he (SS) rarely complies the first couple of times. And his speech levels are still around the level of a 1 year old. Babbling and never more than 2 words despite being almost 4. Theres never full sentences or clear words. And he doesnt say people's names besides Mom/Dad.
Anyway, BM sent a frantic text saying that the toddler bit another kid's private parts at grandma's and that he must be getting it from us because its the 2nd time its occurred with her this year. It couldve been picked up at one of his daycares (BM lives an hour away) but I suppose we're just at a loss that she thinks he got it from us. He only plays with other kids at daycare or the park. We've never seen him do that though we are concerned about autism. And he definitely never watches tv with us, i cant think of a movie/show with a scene like that. I told Dad to talk to his teachers and then try to discuss mutual discipline tactics, and autism testing with Mom. Thoughts? Advice?

Back story. I have 2 boys. 11 months apart. So 7 months and 18 months old. OK 18 month old is full toddler at this point. 7 month old decided yesterday to pull up on the side of the couch and LET GO. Fully standing for about 5 seconds. If this kid walks before 10 months... I cant. Lmfao I can not. I'm so terrified to have 2 fully walking children this close in age LMFAOOOOOOO SEND HELP. (My first walked at 10.5 months old. My second is absoutely beating him in milestones)

2024.05.20 20:29 Thisisbetter17 5 month old going to 2 naps?

My now 5.5 month old has always been challenged in the sleep department. We are slowly getting better at our nights, he’s in his own room in the crib and he does what I consider to be biologically appropriate wakings at night. His daytime nap schedule has gone haywire. We had a few beautiful weeks of an actual schedule - 45-60 minute nap at 9am, 1.5-2 hr nap at noon, last nap of the day from 30-45 minutes between 4 and 6 depending on his mood and needs. He fights every single nap now, AND won’t let me lay him down. And even if I try to contact nap him, he won’t take a long one solid… wakes up crying halfway through and I have to work to get him back down. I could deal with the contact nap need if I didn’t also have to fight him tooth and nail.
I know the wake windows would be long for his age but he’s always needed less sleep and longer wake windows his entire life and he is thriving developmentally speaking and meeting all his milestones and has moved up growth percentiles. Opinions on going to 2 naps that would hopefully be 1.5, up to 2 hours each? I was thinking like 10:30-12:00 and 3:30-5:00 with a 7am wake up and an 8pm bedtime or 10:00-11:30 and 3:00-4:30 with a 7:30 bedtime.
