 | I've had my 2020 Overland for two weeks. Manual with factory options: tow package, LEDs, Cold weather group, active safety, ACC, and premium audio. I've added spray in bedliner, roll up tonneau cover, seat covers, a few of the cheap Amazon interior storage accessories, and the obligatory sun visor brackets. It's primarily a daily driver that will haul household things and occasionally get me to harder-to-access hiking and running trails. No plans to lift. I'm assuming the majority of people didn't play the mobile version hence the complaints. So what exactly can you buy with real money currently? I've attached photos of what you can actually buy with "bonds" the other currency you buy with real money. It basically comes down to, more daily Koen, more weekly Koen, more Koen each season, weapons bundles, armogear bundles, skins, cosmetics more inventory storage and secure containers as a subscription. In my opinion it's not p2w, it's pay-to-grind less. All it does is remove the need to do raids as a scav, use the different traders for profit, spend time managing inventory and selling things on the market instead of bulk selling cheap items to the ingame merchant. You can easily make 500k-1m koens a day only by keeping track of the restock timers and using the traders, a lot of the items have 50-100% profit, for example I exchanged items bought on the market for 40k for a tier 5 vest and sold it for 86k, the timer for this exchange resets after 9 hours. Next day you I can do the same thing. If it was truly pay to win you would have some insane weapons, bullets, attachments, armor exclusive to players who pay money giving them an unfair advantage. Sure if the player you killed put his gold lion in a secure container you're out of 500k but you can still take the gear he paid for with real money. I've played the mobile version on and off for a couple months, love the game but I suck with touch controls since I'm a PC player, and I have never thought to myself "I just died to a p2w player" because you can get everything they have on the market it would just take more time, planning inventory management and worst case scenario you'd have to do some scav runs. |

Wanna ask your opinion about getting the shared storage plan. Still have plenty of space, but looking to subscribe for the entire family. Are there Black Friday sales, or Cyber Monday deals? Can I pay an entire, 2- or 3- years worth of storage and get a hefty discount? Any tips and wisdom is appreciated!

Somehow I always have so many ongoing "personal projects" and doing research for them takes up most of my free time. I feel like after working for my boss during the day, I just come back and start working for myself again. It probably doesn't help that I'm quite indecisive and sometimes overly careful with purchases. Just to name a few things on my to-research list:

Date [Standardized Human Time]: November 5, 2136
The Yotul closes the doors behind him as he leaves, his partially concealed tail giving a friendly sway one last time. For a moment, I stand silently, my gaze still firmly locked onto the doors that he had just disappeared through. Tibi… I commit his name to memory. After a while, I realise that my tail had also been slightly swaying. I can scarcely believe it.
A Yotul had been nice to me.

Repeating the words in my head does little to help them make sense, so I turn to my greatest confidante; My holopad. I sit down on the floor, and pull the device into my lap before opening up my list of audio logs. I take a breath to calm myself, and press record.
“Hello future me… I need to talk. I need to put this into words, so that I can understand it. It is currently about, uh… three quarters? Yes, three quarters of the way through my first day at the new job and uh… something happened. I had another breakdown. The second time since the Harchen’s broadcast. Even worse, it was in front of someone this time, and even worse, it was in front of a Yotul. Though… this Yotul was… strange. He said his name was Tibi, and he was… nice to me… even after…
Not too long ago, I was walking through the hallways of the facility trying to find my way to room 7-1. I-I was kinda lost and w-wasn’t paying attention, like an idiot. I bumped into him. I knocked s-something out of his paws, I don't know what. I knew what was coming a-and so I ran. I simply hoped that I d-didn’t see him again, o-or if I ever did, only after enough time had passed that he’d forget about me, b-but of course that’s not what happened.
N-not even [Half and hour] later I finally f-find room 7-1 and guess what? He’s there. I-I was freaking out. I knew that he’d b-be furious. After I r-ran into h-him, after the b-broadcast. The Yotul are all already m-mad enough ab-bout the uplift and everyone is h-horified by the whole 'Cure' thing, and I-I gave him another r-reason to h-hate me. I-I knew that h-he’d w-want to y-yell, to s-scream, m-maybe even h-hurt meandIcouldn’tdoanythingsoIjustsatandwai-”
I force myself to stop. I forced myself to focus on breathing. Just like… just like he had said. There was no anger. There was no hatred. There was no malice.
“…I broke down in front of him and he helped me. He talked to me. He tried to calm me down. I… I’ve never met a Yotul like that before. He didn’t even mention that I was a Farsul. He didn’t even hint at mentioning the broadcast, or the uplift. He- he apologized for starling me!"
I pull my gaze back up to the doors he had disappeared through.
“He had something draped over his back too. A big piece of fabric that covered everything from his shoulders to just past the base of his tail. Maybe he got the idea from the Humans? If he did… then that only makes it worse. After what happened to the Humans, with how close the Yotul are to them… Why didn’t he hate me?
I don’t know what to think, future me.”
I tap the button on my holopad, ending the recording. I type up the name of the new log; ‘Tibi the Yotul’. The file joins the long list of audio logs I have saved. I let out a long sigh, the last words of the recording ringing true. I’ve been hard-pressed my whole life to find a Yotul that doesn’t obviously, at the very least, dislike Farsul. After all this time, why now? Why, just a few days after the broadcast?
I decide that I need to stop for a moment. Since it’s my first day… and maybe because she doesn’t fully trust me yet, the manager of the facility didn’t give me much work to do. I’ve done pretty much all of it. I just need to upload all the notes I've taken from today's inspections, and I have plenty of time to do so. I can afford to just… let my thoughts stew for a bit. Both my present thoughts, and my past. I scroll on my holopad to the logs recorded a couple days ago, and press play of one titled ‘Delayed work’.
“Hello future me. The past few days have been… horrible, to put it bluntly. I haven’t gone outside the house much since the broadcast, but when I have it’s been… less than pleasant. I’m sure you can find evidence for that in a couple of my most recent recordings…”
My voice comes out sounding heavy. The melancholy isn’t difficult to recall.
“Today is the day I'm supposed to start my new job at the facility, but that hasn’t exactly gone to plan. I’m not really surprised. Vata sent me a message last night, basically saying that because of the broadcast it’d be best if I waited a few more days until starting. It was impossible to tell her tone from the text, but I’m not kidding myself here. Every Yotul hates me now. The rare few have been amicable before, like Vata, but after the broadcast? Forget it. I’d be lucky if I can walk down the street tomorrow without being harassed. Dad’s not right often, but in this case I think he is. It’s dangerous for a Farsul to-”
I pause the log as the beginnings of frustration leak into my voice. I don’t need to hear the rest. I scroll a little further, wanting to find something a little happier. I’ve already replayed this one a couple times since recording it, and for good reason. I open the log titled ‘Best day of my life!!!’
“HELLLOOOOO FUTURE ME! It happened! It actually happened! Okay okay, sorry if this recording is a little incomprehensible, I’m just too excited right now to really care. I GOT THE JOB! ‘Everbloom Botanical Research Facility’, just saying the name is making me giddy! You can probably hear my tail right now, given that it’s wagging at borderline FTL speeds.”
Just hearing the sheer joy in my voice was enough to lighten the atmosphere ever so slightly.
“Anyway, so it’s felt like it’s been forever since I actually finished my degree and started looking for a job. I’m not going to lie, it’s been kind of stressful looking for a place willing to hire me, but all of that was worth it. I managed to get in contact with this older Yotul named Vata, who runs the facility, and oh my stars she actually gave me a chance!
I swear I was about a hair’s width away from passing out during the interview, but I pulled through. Waiting the past couple days for the results has been mortifying, but that’s all over now! I’ve actually done it. I have a job. I get to study all sorts of plants from across the galaxy! Isn’t that awesome?!
I’m a little nervous, given that I’ll be working with Yotul all day. Though, Vata did mention that they have a couple other non-Yotul working there, so maybe I’ll be able to make some friends anyway. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see for when Vata gives me my first shift. I can’t wait!

As the audio log ends, I turn off my holopad and sigh. That helped, a little. It still feels a bit bittersweet, given the past week, but nonetheless it’s almost comforting. I stand back up and dust myself off, walking over to the Aloe Vera plant I was checking in on before. I can’t let my first day at the facility end on a sour note, and so after double checking the Aloe Vera’s growing conditions one last time, I tick it off the mini list I had on my holopad, and set my focus on my last task for today, which would be to transfer my notes over to the facility’s database.
For some reason, we can’t just upload them from wherever we want, we have to actually use a wired connection in the staffroom to do so. Supposedly it’s for security reasons, which I guess sort of makes sense… though dad probably wouldn’t hesitate to use it as more evidence that the Yotul are… that word.
Shaking that thought loose from my mind, I take a deep breath in preparation, before pushing open the room’s doors and heading out into the hallway… after checking that I won’t bump into someone again. On my way to the staffroom, I pass a Yotul leaving one of the storage rooms, holding a bushy green sample in a transport pot. I tense slightly as we pass one another, but she doesn’t say anything. In fact, she seemed to purposefully ignore my existence, not even acknowledging me. All in all, a good interaction.
After taking a few wrong turns, I eventually find my way to the staffroom with a sigh of relief. I open the door to find that there are already a couple people inside. A Yotul and a Venlil stand by the fridge, focusing on their conversation too much to pay attention to me. Good, that means I can upload the notes in peace. I find the interface I’m looking for set up on the wall in the corner of the room, and waste no time in plugging in my holopad and beginning the upload. It shouldn't take all that long, although I do need to awkwardly hold up my holopad next to the machine due to the cord being rather short. While waiting for the process to complete, I catch a bit of the conversation happening on the other side of the room, with the Venlil seemingly quite agitated.
“Look, all I’m saying is that the footage could’ve easily been faked. You can’t just take something like that at face value, especially something as insane and nonsensical as this.”
The Yotul retorts with a huff.
“Please, nothing is too ‘nonsensical’ for the Feds. Isn’t that the whole reason you guys ditched them as soon as the Humans showed themselves?”
“Hey, what the Governor decides has nothing to do with me. Let’s just say that if I was back on Venlil Prime, I wouldn’t vote for her when the next election comes around.”
The Yotul lets out a tired sounding chuckle.
“Are you saying that breaking away from the Feds was a bad thing? You know, the ones that genetically tampered with countless species?”
The Venlil gives an exasperated groan.
“Again, that broadcast was probably faked. Like, why in the stars would Chief Nikonus just blather about the Federation’s darkest secrets to some nobody journalist? You know what, you’re just not going to believe me anyway.”
The upload is finishing up, and the screen flashes briefly to say that it’s safe to disconnect. Glad to be able to leave the staffroom behind me, I unplug the cord from my holopad and turn around to-
“Hey, Farsul!”
The Venlil’s raised voice makes me jump slightly, and I turn an eye to face her. Oh no…
“You think the clip’s real or not?”
For a moment, I simply stand frozen in place, under the scrutinizing gazes of both strangers.
“Uh- I-I uh-”
The Yotul huffs again in frustration, his eyes narrowing as he fixes me with an oh so familiar glare.
“Of course she’s going to say no, you moron. It’s her species that did it.”
My grip of my holopad tightens slightly as the Venlil round back on her companion.
“Exactly, she’d probably know better than anyone.”
I gulp nervously before finally finding my voice.
“Um, actually I d-don’t. I was just as surprised b-by the news as you.”
The Venlil gives a dismissive wave of her paw as if disappointed by my answer and no longer interested in me. The Yotul though, his glare just hardens, bordering on predatory.
“Oh, I wasn’t surprised by the news all that much. Just a whole ‘nother shit storm courtesy of the Feds. You guys torched half the forests on Leirn, genetic tampering doesn’t seem that far outside your resume.”
The use of ‘you’ was not lost on me. No matter how many times I’ve responded to such claims to no avail, I couldn’t help myself.
“I-I didn’t do any of that… I’ve lived on Leirn for almost my whole li-”
“Uh huh, sure yah did. Probably can’t wait to hightail it back to Talsk, right? Go right ahead, do us all a favour.”
As he spoke, I felt the small sparks of confidence I have left fade away, my posture sagging a little under the weight of his words. I should be used to it by now, I really should… but I don’t think I’ll ever be. I do notice however, that the Venlil seems to grow slightly uncomfortable as the Yotul continues, and soon reaches out to rest a paw on his shoulder.
“Hey, don’t you think that’s a little uncalled for?”
He shrugs her paw off and begins walking over to the staffroom door.
“So was everything that’s happened to me since you all showed up, so I really couldn’t care less.”
He slams the door shut behind him, leaving just myself and the Venlil in the room. After a moment, she simply scoffs and follows his lead.
“Asshole.”
Left completely alone, I focus on my breathing. I shudder a couple times trying to ground myself, and even blink rapidly to fight back the beginning of tears. Just another day, like any other. At least this time there wasn’t any yelling. He didn’t even threaten me. That’s a positive. I open up my holopad once more, ready to clock out for the day, only for it to open onto my list of audio logs. I pause as I see the most recent one’s title; ‘Tibi the Yotul’.
I... hope I see him again.

I do notice however, that the Venlil seems to grow slightly uncomfortable as the Yotul continues, and soon reaches out to rest a paw on his shoulder.

He shrugs her paw off and begins walking over to the staffroom door.
“So was everything that’s happened to me since you all showed up, so I really couldn’t care less.”
He slams the door shut behind him, leaving just myself and the Venlil in the room. After a moment, she simply scoffs and follows his lead.
“Asshole.”
Left completely alone, I focus on my breathing. I shudder a couple times trying to ground myself, and even blink rapidly to fight back the beginning of tears. Just another day, like any other. At least this time there wasn’t any yelling. He didn’t even threaten me. That’s a positive. I open up my holopad once more, ready to clock out for the day, only for it to open onto my list of audio logs. I pause as I see the most recent one’s title; ‘Tibi the Yotul’.
I... hope I see him again.

Enbridge is planning to increase capacity on its Gray Oak Pipeline and expand docking operations in the Corpus Christi, Texas, area as part of its efforts to boost exports of Permian Basin liquids from the busy Gulf Coast port, the company said on Friday.
Enbridge said it plans to add 120,000 b/d of capacity to the 900,000-b/d pipeline and has purchased two docks and land adjacent to the Ingleside Energy Center from Flint Hills Resources for about $200 million.
Company officials said Enbridge recently finished work on four new storage tanks at the Ingleside site, bringing total storage capacity there to 18 million bbl. Enbridge also is planning five more tanks that will add 2.5 million bbl of capacity, Chief Executive Greg Ebel said on a call to discuss the company's first-quarter financial results.
He said the work is intended "to support growing international demand for North American energy exports."
"These strategic investments augment our competitive position in the region and support attractive economics for our customers," he said.
The Canadian company reported adjusted Q1 earnings of C$1.955 billion ($1.433 billion), a 13.3% increase from the same period last year.
It reported strong performance on the company's Mainline pipeline system, where Q1 volumes averaged 3.127 million b/d, up 0.22% year to year.
Ebel said the company expects volumes to remain above 3 million b/d through the remainder of the year.
Colin Gruending, executive vice-president of liquids, said now that Canadian regulators have approved a multi-year rolling plan for the line, Enbridge is in discussion with shippers about expanding capacity.
"You're going to see optimizations continue from us serially here month to month, quarter to quarter and then chunkier expansions in the 100,000 a day category in the next two years," he said.
Gruending said Enbridge has so far seen little impact on volumes from the start of operations on the recently completed Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion project, which now has the capacity to transport 890,000 b/d of crude from Canada's oil sands fields to export terminals on the Pacific Coast.
"We've not really seen a blip on our system here through April or May. And likewise, our downstream pipes remain pretty robust," he said. One reason for this, he said, was a reduction in exports of heavy Mexican crude, which has increased demand in the Gulf Coast region for Canadian heavy crude.
He said that while Enbridge's expansion efforts in Corpus Christi are focused on crude, "Ingleside is kind of a Swiss Army Knife multi-product ambition." Over time, Enbridge could use the docks and facilities for a variety of other products.

2024.05.12 12:20 AbdoulayeTarnagda Procrastination with Notion in using it as a productivity tool. My opinion is you should use a Calendar instead, and only use Notion to store information.
This isn't for if you're doing advanced stuff in Notion like using it to store documents or to run a business, but if you're just using Notion to manage your time and organize your life, in my experience, I think it can be a procrastination tool.
You can create a lot of plans, you can make a lot of workspaces and habit trackers, and plan this, and create that, but it doesn't actually get you further towards your goals, at least in my experience.
Most productivity apps are just procrastination tools, at least in my opinion, and there's only 1 tool you should use, Google Calendar.
To make progress in an area, you do the action needed to get towards that area. To get good grades, you study. To get in shape, you work out. To make progress in learning a skill, you practice that skill.
That's brutally obvious, but you want to minimize the barrier between thinking about taking action and doing the action.
If there's a million Notion workspaces, and I have to maintain all of them, then I'm less likely to actually study or work out.
If I'm less likely to do the thing that causes progress, because I'm too busy playing around in Notion to procrastinate, how effective is it really?
I've tried using Todoist, Asana, and to do list tools as well, but the problem with that is your to do list gets messed up, or there's too much tasks or it gets disorganized, so you stop using it.
I think habit trackers in a sense are ineffective, because I used loop habit tracker on my phone a while ago, but if the goal for something is to be ingrained as a habit, then ticking it on a habit tracker when it should be a habit for the rest of your life seems useless, and you don't track the habits you're already consistent in anyways. You don't need to track brushing your teeth or showering, so if working out is truly ingrained as a habit, you don't need to tick it off on a habit tracker.
So Notion is a procrastination tool, to do list is too hard to organize and manage, and it also doesn't account for time, habit trackers don't make sense because it's supposed to be a life-long habit you do for the rest of your life (whether journaling, meditation, working out, etc), so the only tool that I think is needed for organization is Google Calendar.
It's the lowest barrier that translates the thought to action, because you don't have to do much to maintain a calendar (you still have to maintain it but it's less effort to maintain it), and there's no external planning for 69 hours, you just timeblock what you're going to do, then do it.
The timeblock says workout at 6 am - 7 am, you work out at 6 am - 7 am. The timeblock says study math for 3 hours at 5 pm - 8 pm, you study for 3 hours at 5 pm to 8 pm.
If you only use Google Calendar as your single productivity tool, if you make it your legit girlfriend, you check up on it, you just stare at it whilst waiting in line for something, you don't cheat on it by using other apps, and you only use Google Calendar, you're automatically going to do the work and take action. It accounts for the planning, time, and action. By using Google Calendar, you're already planning the work you need to do, you don't need advanced workspaces to list out what you need to do in the day, the time is accounted for because you see the time and how much time you have left until bedtime, and you're taking action, because you literally can be a brain-dead monkey and know what to do just by following the calendar.
If you're only following the calendar, and it says at 9 PM - 10 PM, learn coding, and you actually follow the calendar every single day, in 5 months, you've been coding everyday for 5 months. If you timeblock 5 times a week to workout, and you follow the calendar, now you're consistent in the gym.
For some people it's hard to take action, and for others it's easy. I'm the former, by a landslide. So why amplify it? Why make it harder to do take action? If you're like me, you should make it easy to take action.
Google Calendar as your only productivity tool so there's no distractions or feelings of overwhelmedness, timeblock the action you need to do to get further in your goal, take that action.
If I only use Google Calendar, and there's no extra bs to worry about, and all I do is timeblock the entire day with the different things I'm going to do, like an adjustable daily schedule, then actually do those things (workout, study, code, etc), I'll actually make progress in those things.
I still might use Notion to store biology diagrams and different websites so I can access them on my phone, but I'm not using it as a tool that I expect to get work done with, I'm using it more as a storage tool. One and done, occasional use.
The only tool I use for productivity now is Google Calendar. I set the task, then do the task, with no extra distractions, because I want it to be easy for me to do the work. The only thing holding me back from doing the work with Google Calendar is willpower, because my day is fully timeblocked, I have a clear path of action I need to take, if I'm disciplined enough to do it, as in follow all of the timeblocks, then I'm automatically taking action.

If you only use Google Calendar as your single productivity tool, if you make it your legit girlfriend, you check up on it, you just stare at it whilst waiting in line for something, you don't cheat on it by using other apps, and you only use Google Calendar, you're automatically going to do the work and take action. It accounts for the planning, time, and action. By using Google Calendar, you're already planning the work you need to do, you don't need advanced workspaces to list out what you need to do in the day, the time is accounted for because you see the time and how much time you have left until bedtime, and you're taking action, because you literally can be a brain-dead monkey and know what to do just by following the calendar.
If you're only following the calendar, and it says at 9 PM - 10 PM, learn coding, and you actually follow the calendar every single day, in 5 months, you've been coding everyday for 5 months. If you timeblock 5 times a week to workout, and you follow the calendar, now you're consistent in the gym.
For some people it's hard to take action, and for others it's easy. I'm the former, by a landslide. So why amplify it? Why make it harder to do take action? If you're like me, you should make it easy to take action.
Google Calendar as your only productivity tool so there's no distractions or feelings of overwhelmedness, timeblock the action you need to do to get further in your goal, take that action.
If I only use Google Calendar, and there's no extra bs to worry about, and all I do is timeblock the entire day with the different things I'm going to do, like an adjustable daily schedule, then actually do those things (workout, study, code, etc), I'll actually make progress in those things.
I still might use Notion to store biology diagrams and different websites so I can access them on my phone, but I'm not using it as a tool that I expect to get work done with, I'm using it more as a storage tool. One and done, occasional use.
The only tool I use for productivity now is Google Calendar. I set the task, then do the task, with no extra distractions, because I want it to be easy for me to do the work. The only thing holding me back from doing the work with Google Calendar is willpower, because my day is fully timeblocked, I have a clear path of action I need to take, if I'm disciplined enough to do it, as in follow all of the timeblocks, then I'm automatically taking action.

The bottom half of the stairs is behind a plasterboard wall (almost positive it's not load bearing). I've seen people knock through the wall to create storage, so I drilled a little peep hole. It looks like there is some wooden support under the stairs, which seems unusual as the posts on Facebook don't have them. It also appears there's insulation under them. My questions are, could I still do it? Are the supports needed? If they are is there was way to make them not be free standing and just drill wooden blocks into the wall and mount them on that? Is the insulation needed? Introduction I spent a lot of time shopping for T480 Thinkpads, upgraded some of them and flipped a few. I haven't found a post like this and since it's probably one of the more popular models, I figured I'd make this buying guide for anyone looking to buy/upgrade a T480. Ideally, this would be the only resource you'll need. Suggestions on improving this guide are welcome!
Why the T480? It was released in 2018 making it not as old a model as others. Most of them feature an 8th Gen Intel CPU which is quite decent and supports Windows 11 officially. It is the last model to feature an internal battery plus an external hot swappable battery. It has a generous amount of upgradability options.
tl;dr Display: All of them are IPS. Stay away from 1366×768. Storage: Two slots. NVMe in the main slot is preferrable. Second slot is upgradable with a 2242 WWAN. CPU: Get the i5-8250U, i5-8350U, i7-8550U, or i7-8650U. RAM: Up to 64GB (2×32GB). Easily and cheaply upgradable. GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620. Some models have the GeForce MX150 which gives a nice slight bump in performance. Battery: Internal + External hot swappable. 24Wh external makes the laptop thin. 72Wh protrudes out but gives about 8-9 hours of office work. 48Wh not worth it. Misc: Keyboard can be backlit or not. WiFi can be upgraded but not that necessary. Make sure both charging ports work and display does not have too bad keyboard marks on it.
Display Luckily, the T480 has never had a TN panel so you’re guaranteed to get an IPS panel. However, a select few only have a 1366×768 resolution so make sure to check this. The most common screen is 1920×1080. Some models did have a 2560×1440 screen. In my opinion, 1080p on a 14“ screen is perfectly fine but this is highly personal. I haven’t had a chance to use one but users report lower brightness than the non-touch variants. Storage There are two slots for storage. ~1) Main~ This will either be equipped with a SATA SSD or a NVMe SSD. Obviously, it is better to get the NVMe variant. There is a way to convert from SATA to NVMe using a caddy but usually, you get no cost savings over getting a NVMe right away. Depending on the seller, it can be difficult to determine what king of SSD is in a particular model just from the listing info and you might need to contact the seller to find out. ~2) WWAN~ There is a WWAN slot for a 2242 NVMe. If you’re getting a stock T480, this slot is never occupied so it’s up to you to put one in. Keep in mind that you need a B-key SSD. Nowadays, it is quite difficult to find a 2242 NVMe with a B-key. It is much more common to find a 2230. But you can get an 2230 to 2242 adapter and fit a 2230 just fine.
CPU There are 7 different CPUs that you might encounter in a T480 and three of them are to be avoided. Unfortunately, the CPU is one of the few things that cannot be exchanged on the T480. i5-7200U i5-7300U i3-8130U i5-8250U i5-8350U i7-8550U i7-8650U Stay away from the 7200U, 7300U, and 8130U. The first two are really not great and additionally if you want to run Windows 11, it is not officially supported on the 7th Gen. A workaround to make a bootable media using Rufus will work but you're always running a risk of a future official update bricking your system. Although the 8130U is an 8th Gen, it’s still dual-core and not very powerful. However, if you're looking to run 64GB of RAM, it's actually better for you to get an 8GB model (since it's going to be cheaper) over the 16GB because you'll need to remove the original RAM altogether anyway. You’re looking for SO-DIMM DDR4 2400MHz sticks (provided you didn’t get the 7th Gen CPUs where you can only get up to 2133MHz). The 72Wh battery protrudes downwards and lifts the back of the laptop slightly (which can improve cooling I assume). Don’t bother with the 48Wh battery since its headspace is exactly the same as the 72Wh one but with 2/3 of the capacity. You can expect about 8-9 hours of office work with the 72Wh battery. ~Charging ports~ If you can inspect the laptop in person, make sure to check that both USB-C ports work properly and supply charge without issues.
~Keyboard marks on the display~ Some used ThinkPads may have keyboard marks on the display that can be ever so slight or rather heavy. These can sometimes be cleaned with IPA but it’s better to look out for this. Unfortunately, it is not difficult to photograph the laptop without making them visible even when they are present.
~vPro~ Do I need vPro? If you're not a sysadmin, you don't need it.

~Charging ports~ If you can inspect the laptop in person, make sure to check that both USB-C ports work properly and supply charge without issues.
~Keyboard marks on the display~ Some used ThinkPads may have keyboard marks on the display that can be ever so slight or rather heavy. These can sometimes be cleaned with IPA but it’s better to look out for this. Unfortunately, it is not difficult to photograph the laptop without making them visible even when they are present.
~vPro~ Do I need vPro? If you're not a sysadmin, you don't need it.

Ok so the title sounds crazy bht hear me out. My Mom (52F) has some friends (M/F around same age) that I personally really don't like.
She has known the lady for a very long time now, but since my mom moved from where she originally lived, they lost contact (there's really no reason for me to do so since we still live in the same country, and social media and such exist, but whatever). The lady is divorced, and her new husband is friend number two. After about 15 years, they started getting closer since the lady moved to where we live.
The first time they came over, they went out for food and came to our apartment afterward. They were already quite drunk when they arrived and didn't stop drinking here either. Mind you, they were over for the first time and also meeting me for the first time. Basically, they didn't stop drinking. The guy almost fell over the balcony because he was so drunk, but my father held him. He then went to the toilet, leaving the door half open, and fell into the tub, crashing down with the shower curtains all together. The lady noticed that the floor was quite slippery because of the cleaning detergent or whatever was used and was gliding through the apartment. Later on, she couldn't stop crying for half an hour because of how long it had been since she had seen my mom.
The second time they came over, the lady promised my mom a job with the state as her assistant or something. My mom would have made very good money and drank a lot. Of course, my mom was very excited about the opportunity, but in the end, the lady didn't mean it or whatever. (BS in my opinion)
I told my friends and my grandma about those crazy people, and that was the end of that. My mother then told me they were coming over again, and I was obviously not excited about it. I told her I didn't like those crazy people and that all my friends and my grandma knew about them. (My grandma passed away over a year ago, so I'm sure they hadn't been in touch for around three years.)
They came over yesterday. I had to greet them, and it was very uncomfortable. The lady kept talking about my height (I'm quite tall), and it was just very strange. They then kept drinking, and I was in my room trying to study for my exam. They were so unbelievably loud that I was already getting annoyed, so I put my headphones on instead, but it just didn't stop. I am quite a chill person. I love practicing Chinese tea ceremony, qi gong meditation, and other things like that, which I couldn't do because they were just so annoying. I decided to just try to fall asleep. I was very mad, though, because they basically cost me half a day of my weekend. I can't even explain why I cared so much, but I even felt uncomfortable leaving my room since I don't like those people.
Well, this morning I told my mother happy Mother's Day. (I wanted to buy her flowers but didn't since she already had two bouquets from her birthday, which was a couple of days ago, and one more for her wedding anniversary.) I told her that I was quite annoyed by them, and she told me they had broken a wine glass. That somehow made me lose it. The wine glass was part of a collection we owned and wasn't exactly cheap, but that wasn't it. I just had to tell her my opinion of those people.
I told her I don’t mind having people over who know how to respect other people’s homes. I told her these people were completely disrespectful and didn’t care about her (I was referring to them not keeping in touch). I said they ruined my whole evening. She told me they would be coming over more often, and I told her I’d be gone when they’re here. If they’re over until 1 a.m., I’d be gone until 1 a.m. She then told me I’m just a strange person with no social interactions (not true—I have lots of friends; I’m just not the person to meet up with them every day since we see each other at school every day anyway, and we can just text or call, but whatever) and that I don’t have fights with everyone. I told her again that they were strange people without kids and don’t have their lives under control. (I know that was mean.) And then she said something that made me very mad. She asked me if my cousins couldn’t come over either since they didn’t have kids. (My oldest cousins are 35, by the way; the couple is like 55.). I told her she was dumb as he'll comparing family with these strangers. She told me that they had planned to go to Thailand together yesterday. I was gobsmacked. For one thing, we're Greeks living in Germany and went to Greece for vacation every year. I've been annoyed about that for years, begging to go somewhere else at least once. I've been wanting to go to England for 10 years, always asking if we could go, and the answer was always no. Now they want to go to Thailand (one of the few Asian countries I was never that interested in. Btw. I speak Chinese, some Korean, and Japanese) with those people. I went absolutely crazy and told her they should go and never come back and that I wouldn't shed a tear if they drowned while snorkeling. It just felt so unfair.
The conversation basically stopped there. She came in a couple of times, saying stuff and complaining about me not having a present for her for Mother's Day (I actually felt bad about that anyway) and that me doing this on Mother's Day was horrible.
Now I want to know AMITA for being mad about everything and also AMITA for not waiting to talk about it on another day even though I didn't really plan for it to go south like that?

Luckily I walked out with no major injuries just some whiplash and a little graze under my right elbow. No air bags went off, car was still rollable despite both right side tyres being punctured and pushed in from the force of the accident, the car did turn on and tried to move whilst I was stuck in a hedge so i know that the internals hopefully weren’t damaged and I mainly only saw cosmetic damage (I will attach pics). My insurance voluntary excess is £625 due to my age, the recovery vehicle took my car to storage and refused to drop it to my house saying the insurance will deal with it, who took almost a week to get back to me. They said if i don’t claim I’ll have to pay for storage and recovery myself (I paid extra for breakdown and roadside recovery as part of my insurance policy so will need to ask them about this again on Monday) and the recovery company is extortionately charging me £639 for the week’s storage and recovery. For context, I have a 1.2L 2006 Ford Fiesta Freedom with around 64k mileage, no running issues drives well and I was planning on keeping this car in the long run. Estimated market value is around £1.2-1.4k. I’ve seen used parts like a front bumper for £80, both break lights for £30, right wing mirror for £30 so the cosmetic damage won’t be very expensive at all. I was planning on dealing with dents and paint scratches further down the line as it’s not an immediate issue please correct me if I’m wrong for thinking that! But since I have to pay £625 out of pocket and my insurance is likely to write it off anyway due to the low market value, and that I won’t be given much in return anyway, is it even worth claiming? Should I just pay the £639, take the car from storage myself and just repair it? I feel like this might be cheaper than buying a new car entirely and having to get new insurance (my current policy is ongoing as my car’s not written-off) so I won’t have to deal with the raised premiums until next year in April. Drake left the items in the hotel and they were kept in the storage for a limited time without Drake ever picking them up. Ebony planned to auction the items off decades down the line to make some good money. But when Drake dropped Push Ups he smelled an opportunity to sell intel to Kendrick’s camp. Kendrick gladly took the photo but figured out, Ebony doesn’t have much more intel and declined to pay him. That’s why TDE is not associating themselves with him.
This didn’t bother Ebony much because the items were now infamous because of the beef driving their value up. So he just went back to the original plan of auctioning the items off. Hi, I have been using an old laptop for server, and I want to upgrade to a micro form factor PC. The micro form factor is important since I plan to permamently migrate within few months and suitcase space is limited.
The idea is to have a proxmox. The prox arrangement are to be determined later. But at least I can give you the intended use cases: 1. NAS, probably using a single slim HDD. 2. File sync (gitea, nextcloud, immich, photoprism, syncthing, etc.) 3. Programming and development. Via SSH, or VNC, or any other means.
No plan for transcoding purposes in the near and far future, but it is a welcomed feature :)
With all of that in mind, I need help on choosing the specs.
The option I have is Dell Optiplex, Lenovo ThinkCentre M720Q, or HP Elite desk. The most noticable differentiator between them are the CPU and the price. * i5 7500T (4 core, 4 thread, 3.3 GHz) at 115 USD * i5 9500T (6 core, 6 thread, 3.7 GHz) at 155 USD * i3 8300T (4 core, 4 thread, 3.1 GHz) at 96 USD
Plus additional 16GB RAM, at 32 USD. Storage I already have, no need to buy a new one.
Do you have any suggestion, especially the difference between Lenovo, Dell's Optiplex, and HP EliteDesk? Which one gives me least trouble and least vendor lock?
Do you know the difference between those intel CPUs? I remember that gen 7 8 and 9 are full of gimmicks with slight performance differences between them.

I’m thinking of buying a big storage shed from Keter. I have very less storage space inside my house. So thinking of some electric equipments like a freezer, tumble dryer etc there. Could it damage the equipments easily as there is no insulation inside? Is there anything else to be concerned about?
