Titus truly gets what “family” means
Figured Titus might need to offload some money for tax purposes after his big gains from the house situation. Have Venmo’d a few barstool guys just for shits and giggles and this is the first time I’ve even gotten a response. I’m blown away. Titus cares about me so much that he’s willing to treat me just like my biological family. They might not give me the money but they have the decency to say no instead of ignoring me. Goes to show that Titus really does “get it” and really sees us as family.

2024.05.19 20:38 fazar7 Help me buy the right panel

Heyooo, So, I've been eyeing OLED panels since the first 240hz ones came out but I didn't get one because I had just got a new panel (Asus xg27aqm), this panel died on me In just a few months (no image, just lines) and Asus told me to pound sand so here we are. Since then I've been tempted to pick one of the panels up but I've been terrified of burn in. I live in Kenya (I'd be ordering off either Amazon US or maybe china) and shipping it to me. So RMA is basically a no-go for me.
My main uses would be gaming, I mainly play cs2 and I don't know if burn in with the static elements of the game would be an issue. I understand hdr and the visual differences would be a great step up from ips but I honeslty don't care too much about hdr, it's mostly the response times and the "futureproof" idea of a panel that will last 5-odd years.
I dont wanna drop $800 (+$350) for a monitor that will be unusable in a few months like I did with the Asus.
So far I've been eyeing the new 1440p 360hz panels, specifically the MSI MAG 271QPX, but I've seen posts about avoiding it because it doesn't have a firmware upgrade feature (not sure If this is much of an issue tbh)
I'm also not in too much of a hurry, I'll be looking at buying this around july-aug of this year, so If any new panels are coming, I don't mind waiting for those.
Tldr; want OLED panel, mainly play cs and don't care about hdr, 1440p high refresh (360hz+) preferred, burn in is a big worry as RMA is basically impossible.

2024.05.19 19:08 The_Will_to_Make Script running slow after SBC Upgrade (Duet 3 Mini 5+)

I’ve got a Duet 3 Mini 5+ that’s been on one of my custom builds for a couple years now. It’s a great little board, but recently the WiFi started to act up, so I added a Pi 4 (1GB) in SBC mode. Everything went pretty smooth, but I’m getting some strange behavior in one of my scripts that run on startup from config.g.
At the end of my config.g I call a “startup.g” that mainly just runs a little boot animation on a NeoPixel strip. On startup, the script brightens and dims the NeoPixels a couple times, then performs a really simple animation and brightens/fades the lights to their normal operating brightness and color.
Script runs through a simple little ‘while’ loop and was running great prior to the SBC upgrade. After adding the SBC I updated to the newest 3.5.1 firmware - noticed there were some changes to M150 behavior and updated my config accordingly.
The script still runs on startup, BUT it runs really slow. The whole script used to take maybe 10-15s, and now it takes something like 30-60+. There is a delay in the loop to affect how long a frame of the animation lasts, but changing (or removing) that delay now does not affect the script timing.
Did something change with the scripting logic that I missed? I think I was on 3.4.7 prior to the SBC update. Am I missing something?
TIA!

2024.05.19 18:43 wookieOP Walksnail Moonlight 4k Unresponsive

I have a fairly recent Walksnail Moonlight 4k that stopped working. A week ago, I was powering it on but now it won't bind, won't connect, nor will it do firmware upgrade. It had been working fine for a week or two. I emailed CADDX support a week ago but haven't gotten any reply.
The "VTX" LED on the main body is always dark (not on). It _should_ be flashing green searching for receiver or solid green when locked. Only the "REC" LED is solid green and turns on a few seconds after initial power up.
I am using LIPO 4s power.
Attempted with no success:
  1. Press bind button and linking to my Fatshark Recon HD
  2. Trying LIPO 3s power on separate battery
  3. With and without microSD card inserted
  4. Tried firmware update by inserting SD card with latest firmware and holding the binding button for 8-sec but unit remains unresponsive
NOTE:
Anyone encountered this situation before? Anything else I can try? Thanks.

Does anyone know why 1440p option isn’t available RT5x Pro
Like the title says, I can’t remember if this option wasn’t ever available as I only had it as of December. I updated to the official firmware that was current for that time, and recently I upgraded to the most recent experimental because I saw some features I might use and improvements were added. I’m using RGB Scart with my genesis and for some reason I don’t see the 1440p option like most YouTube videos I see of people calibrating the device. My other consoles use S-Video because I don’t want to hard mod anything. I can solder but I just want to keep the consoles stock. Any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you!

2024.05.19 17:38 carribeiro Creality Print and firmware strategy + quality (or lack thereof)

I'm a maker, with 12 years of 3d printing under my belt. I used to be a bit wary but the Ender 3 won my heart and became my main printer(s) for years. When I upgraded to K1 & K1 Max, I was impressed with the speed, but losing the ability to use Cura was a problem.
Creality Print 4 wasn't the greatest piece of software ever, it had noticeable bugs and quirks. But it did work (most of the time).
Then I've installed CP 5 to discover that it's not related to CP4. It's like a full rewrite. I'm sure the there must be a post somewhere explaining the reasoning and strategy. Or Creality decided not to share it with anyone - it would be weird but not totally unexpected either.
CP4 already felt a bit weird like they were trying to merge functions of FDM and resin printer slicers. Like the way they were trying to make supports and hollow shells. It didn't make sense, didn't fit the workflow for FDM. So I understand there must be some plan - but it doesn't look like Creality fully understands how to implement it.
CP 5 seems to be based on Prusa SliceOrca. That's not a problem. The big problem is that by doing they're actually re-starting from scratch and lost a lot of the knowledge accumulated over the years. So things that always worked don't work anymore. And worse - there's no consistency. Things may work for some users and fail for others.
One thing that I've heard people say is that Creality often change suppliers for the same model so it's probably guaranteed that my K1 has not the same electronics as everyone else. It makes testing for combinations of firmware and slicers a nightmare and explains why some K1's didn't work with the latest upgrade (it wasn't rooted btw) while others were happy with it.
Last but not last, I've seen complaints here and there, but it seems that even the quality is the reports and analysis isn't the same it used to be. It feels like people are getting used to accepting whatever companies deliver. It's like we forgot our rights as customers. All that I want is to have a predictable supplier that is more transparent with their tech, quality, and even a bit of strategy, treating us like customers, like companies used to do before social media melted everyone's brain.

2024.05.19 16:34 jagerben47 Need a phone that will work for both personal use and business.

Hi all. My current phone (Moto One 5G UW Ace) is almost paid off and I'm in need of an upgrade. I've recently changed jobs and this is the first time I've had to use my personal phone for business, so I need one with some good specs. I'm hoping you guys can help me find a good android that meets my needs below, but if an iPhone is what I need then tell me.
I've been an android follow ever since I was able to recognize Apples shady business practices, but I'll bite the bullet if I need to.
My needs:
Large memory capacity - for personal use, I use large apps like PoGo and stuff like that, but for work I need a lot of storage space for pictures (I'm an engineer and need to collect a lot of pictures at client sites). And I believe memory is what governs agile app functionality (apps opening and switching quickly). I also currently use a micro SD card for all my pictures, so it'd be nice if the new phone had that capability so I can take the SD out and put it in the new one.
Good and FAST camera quality - as mentioned above, I take a lot of pictures for my job. I need a camera that takes clear pictures in a variety of lights while also being FAST. My current camera isn't bad, but it locks up my phone whenever I try to use it. I had an iPhone for work once and switching between the camera and other apps was so quick and non-intrusive and I'd like to get that again.
Battery life - The longer, the better. I've only ever used Motorolas in the past (I currently have a Moto One 5G UW Ace) because of their battery life, but nowadays it doesn't seem line Motos are heads-and-shoulders above anyone else in this regard.
Connectivity - My phone does not play nicely with my wife's iPhone. Pictures we send to each other turn out poor and sometimes there's a delay in receiving messages.
My wants:
Fingerprint scanner - I'm not a fan of the face-based unlocking, but I do love the quick opening of a fingerprint scanner.
Car connectivity - My current phone is garbage at connecting to my car via Android Auto. It takes way too long and I feel is actually kind of a safety hazard because of the delayed response times.
Separate profiles? - I think this is more of a software thing, but I'm asking just in case there's a company that really good for this: Since I use this for both work and play, I'd like to keep them as separate as possible. It'd be nice if I had two different instances of the OS running at the same time (like having different desktops running off the same machine) so that files and apps I have for my personal use can't bleed over into my work environment.
Large size - I don't think this will be a problem because of how the market works, but the larger the screen, be happier I will be. Not super critical though.
Peripherals - I'm looking into a smart-watch in the future, so something that plays well natively with my phone would be nice. USB-C port for hooking into things. Wireless charging would be cool, but it's not super critical.
Country of origin - I know Chinese companies have been making waves recently, but I'd prefer to stay away from devices affiliated with geopolitical rivals of the county in which I reside (USA). I don't really care THAT much, but I feel like it may save some headache in the future.
My constraints:
Carrier - My carrier is Verizon and I'm still squatting on my parents' account (yay millennials) so this would be purely a hardware upgrade. No new lines, no changing of plans. I know good phones probably run around or above $1000 now but the more affordable I can be with Verizon, the better.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And again, if the answer is an iPhone, just rip the bandaide off so I can make piece with myself before making my wife happy.

2024.05.19 15:53 Bigchip01 Is ledger safe?

I have an old ledger that I rarely use. Which version of the firmware should I be wary of? Would ledger still be safe if I were to not upgrade it to that firmware and don’t use ledger live? Can I transfer over the seeds to a different hardware wallet in the future if I trust the rng on ledger? I was considering the cold card or jade but not sure if it’s immediate I transfer over to those right now.

H150i Elite capellix XT 360mm coolant temps shoot up with RGB
Hello.
So 2 years ago I upgraded my PC. Everything was fine and stable. I bought a H150i Elite capellix XT 360mm to keep my 12700kf at a nice cool temperature. Whilst during warm days, the coolant would run pretty hot, it never really gave me any issues. I don't always play intensive games either so the following went pretty much unnoticed for a while.
Yesterday, I figured I should try out Ghost of Thushima. I bought the game and started playing as usuall. When suddenly in my corner of my eye I notice my radiator flashing red. After checking iCue, I realized the coolant temp was hitting 60c and the overheating warnings started popping up. I figured I'd close the game and let the PC sit there for a while to cool off, only for the same thing to happen later.
Checking idle temps I realized that the coolant was suprisingly warm, sitting at 48-50c idle. This is unusual and not something I noticed before (not that I often check it anw).
After googling for a bit, I noticed a thread on the corsair forums, where the last tech reply (and no further replies, unfortunately) asked what would happen if the rgb turned off. At first I thought it'd be strange how RGB would affect the coolant temp, but I figured why not give it a try. To my suprise, turning off the RGB instantly dropped the coolant temperature by give or take 10c~

After playing with some different colors, you can clearly see that the temperature changes depending on the color:

My question is: Is this related to the firmware, if so, are there ways to "reset" or update the firmware? Is it somehow related to the hardware? What are the things I can do to poperly troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks for reading.

2024.05.19 15:33 Afraid-Cellist-6925 Bluetooth Connection Issue SOLVED!!!

Ever since I got my QC Ultra earbuds for my iphone I've had connection issues. I deleted the Bose app and the connection rate shot up to like 90%. Then I upgraded the firmware a couple of months ago and the connection issues became REALLY BAD, with or without the Bose app installed. Then I read about this possible solve from a post on this group that barely had any responses. This solve is for iphones but would be interesting to see if it works for Android.
SOLVE: Go to Settings > Transfer or Reset Iphone > Reset > Reset Network settings. This ONLY resets your network settings which means you'll have to re-join your wifi connections. I have no idea why this helps but since I employed this yesterday I've connected my qc's about 10 times and the success rate has been 100%!!!
If you attempt this solve please report back here. Not sure if Android has a similar settings option but perhaps users can try and report back. It would also be interesting to test if the issue comes back with a certain amount of wifi connections saved to the phone. Let's hope this is a permanent fix.

2024.05.19 14:42 its_me_mario9 Upgrade to TrueNAS Scale Dragonfish broke Intel QuickSync

I’ve been running TrueNAS Scale for a few years now. Mostly without problems. I have plex deployed and I’ve been using Intel QuickSync without any problems.
Recently I upgraded to Dragonfish and, and since then I no longer see gpu available on the resource configurations for plex or any other app for that matter. I did follow the migration process for apps and storage and everything deploy correctly.
I’ve now spent a week searching for a solution to no avail. Below are the details for my integrated gpu and logs right after a reboot.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. TIA
I've attempted to force probe with the following command with no luck:
midclt call system.advanced.update '{"kernel_extra_options": "i915.force_probe=4682"}'
Got the device id from this page: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/134586/intel-core-i5-12400-processor-18m-cache-up-to-4-40-ghz.html
I recently noticed that the plex app i have deployed (truenas catalog) has a dropdown and the truecharts equivalent app has a text field to select gpus. I have tried deploying a new plex instance with truecharts and setting intel gpu to 1 but it just refused to deploy claiming no gpu available.
Did i loose the ability to use the integrated GPU?

2024.05.19 14:40 goaway432 Considering getting a P1P and have a couple of questions

Right now I have a Crapality Ender 3v2. It's never worked correctly and had more problems than I can recount. I'm considering getting a P1P just so I can actually print things rather than mess around with hardware all the time (and still not work).
All I really plan to print is PETG and maybe some PLA.
Sorry for the list, but I've been hesitant since I got a Crapality and want to make sure that anything I decide to get will be able to do what I want.

🔗Royal Consumer 500DX Cash Register for Small Business

As a small business owner, I can attest that the Royal 500DX Cash Register has been an absolute game-changer for me. The dual LCD displays provide clear visibility for both the clerk and the customer, making transactions seamless and efficient.
One of the standout features is its capacity to handle up to 2,000 employees, which is more than adequate for a small to medium-sized business. Additionally, the unlimited messaging capability ensures that you won't miss any important announcements or updates. However, the product does feel a bit flimsy due to its predominantly plastic design, which might concern those who prefer a sturdier build.
Another fantastic aspect of this cash register is the 999 Price Look-Ups, allowing for quick processing of transactions. Programming four different tax rates also makes the setup process incredibly straightforward. On the downside, the impact printer, although functional, occasionally feels outdated compared to more advanced models.
Overall, the Royal 500DX Cash Register has proven to be a reliable and user-friendly addition to my small business. Its features cater to my daily needs and have undoubtedly contributed to the efficiency and success of my operations.

I have been using the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register for a start-up retail business, and it's been a reliable and efficient partner. The compact design allows it to fit easily in our small store, and the bright LED display makes it easy for us and our customers to see the transaction details. The 8 departments feature helps us organize our inventory, and the 80 PLU/Items capacity allows us to input all our products without issues.
One of the standout features of this cash register is its ability to accept different payment methods like cash, cheque, and credit card, which has made it easy for us to cater to our customers' preferred payment options. Additionally, the time and date display feature ensures that our transactions are accurate and timely.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to the Sharp XE-A102. It can be a little noisy and slow compared to some other cash registers, which may be an issue during peak hours when we need to serve customers quickly. Moreover, the instructions provided are quite small, making them difficult to read and follow.
Overall, the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register has been an excellent addition to our start-up retail business. Its compact design, 58 mm wide reliable printing, and ability to accept multiple payment methods make it a valuable tool for any small retailer. While it may have a few minor issues, the majority of users, including myself, are satisfied with its performance and recommend it to others.

I recently added the Sharp XE Series Electronic Cash Register to my tiny boutique store, and I couldn't be happier. Before settling on this model, I spent a lot of time researching various cash registers, but the XE Series stood out for its advanced sales reporting capabilities and seamless tie-in with QuickBooks Pro. The moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by its sleek, professional appearance and built-in SC card slot for easy connectivity and data back-up.
Setting up the register was incredibly easy, and within just a few hours, it was ready to go. Its intuitive interface made training my employees a breeze. The thermal printer was a pleasant surprise; it's much quieter and faster than traditional receipt printers. Plus, the customizable receipts with graphics and logos definitely give my store a professional edge.
One of my favorite features is the automatic tax system, which not only saves time but also reduces the potential for errors and makes reporting so much easier. The locking drawer ensures security and comes with multiple bill and coin compartments, making deposits a lot more organized.
The only downside is the rather complicated user manual, which could definitely be improved. It's not a complete deal breaker, though, as there are plenty of helpful YouTube tutorials available online.
All in all, I'm thrilled with my purchase of the Sharp XE Series Electronic Cash Register. It's a perfect fit for my small business and a real game-changer when it comes to streamlining sales transactions and accounting. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cash register to anyone running a small retail or service business.

Casio's PCR-T280 is a fantastic single-tape thermal cash register that offers more functionality for medium-sized businesses than entry-level models. With the ability to track up to 1,200 price lookups, it offers a level of specificity in item sales tracking not commonly found in its class. It also allows businesses to track sales up to eight different operators, making it an excellent tool for business tracking and growth.
One of the standout features of this product is its hygienic, antibacterial keyboard. In our current world, where cleanliness is paramount, this characteristic provides a measure of peace of mind for both business owners and customers alike. Furthermore, its multipurpose tray can hold money in four bill compartments and five coin compartments, ensuring the efficient flow of transactions.
The PCR-T280 also boasts a high-speed thermal printer, which can be used either for customer receipts or as a journal printer for recording all the store's activities. Its mode lock with key control feature provides multiple operation positions through physical keys, providing a level of security usually found in more expensive models.
Although it is not touch-screen, its simple and intuitive design makes it easy to program and use. Some users did find the manual a bit difficult to follow, but with a bit of practice, most find it quite manageable. With its ability to handle multiple sales tax needs and its capacity for PLU capabilities, the Casio PCR-T280 has proven itself as a reliable tool for various businesses, small or medium-sized.
However, one minor drawback is the depth of the money/change drawer, which could have been a little deeper for added convenience. Despite this minor issue, the vast majority of users recommend this register for its performance and price point, providing an excellent value for businesses looking for an affordable, reliable cash register solution.

🔗Heavy-Duty Cash Register with Alpha Keyboard and LCD Display

https://preview.redd.it/n49jkvmfdd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de539e0ebd57052b2847b9d3ccc982047c4b050e
As an avid user of cash registers in my grocery store, I recently discovered the Royal Alpha 1100ml Cash Register, and my experience has been quite satisfactory. This heavy-duty register is perfect for my high-traffic establishment, offering a reliable and swift cash management system that I can always depend on.
The first thing that caught my eye about this cash register was its single fast and quiet alphanumeric thermal printer, capable of handling over 1 million lines. It's been able to keep up with the constant rush of customers, making it a reliable addition to my store.
The large 10-line LCD user display and alpha keyboard ensure easy programming, which was a breeze, even for a beginner like me. The SD Card slot is another excellent feature, enabling efficient accounting data transfers to a PC, a necessity for any modern business.
However, I will say that the software included with the register can be a bit flaky at times. While it is supposed to read the x and z reports that the machine puts on the sd card, I sometimes find myself having to use the sd card to transfer report data manually. Additionally, getting in touch with their tech support doesn't seem to be very helpful, as they often provide no real technical assistance.
Despite these minor issues, the Royal Alpha 1100ml Cash Register has been a solid addition to my store. Its heavy-duty locking cash drawer with four slot bill and removable five slot coin tray, along with its automatic tax computation, has made managing funds and keeping track of sales much easier for me. If you're in need of a reliable cash register for your business, I'd highly recommend giving this one a try.

I recently discovered the Sharp XEA407 Cash Register while searching for a reliable and feature-rich solution for my little grocery store. After trying it out, I must say it's exceeded my expectations.
The first thing that impresses anyone who lays their eyes on it is the sleek eight-line display. It's not just a pretty face though; it's got brains as well with 7000 Price Lookups (PLU's), allowing quick and accurate entry. The inclusion of 99 departments is brilliant as it makes managing diverse product types a breeze.
My favorite feature? Hands down, the microban keytops. They provide built-in antimicrobial protection, keeping those pesky germs at bay, which is particularly important given the current health situation. And let's not forget about the large 32GB SD card slot for computer connectivity and data storage.
However, there were a few hiccups too. The lack of French documentation was a letdown for me, a French-speaking Canadian. Plus, a few customers have reported missing parts upon delivery, making the product unusable.
So, while there are some minor issues, the Sharp XEA407 Cash Register has overall been a reliable and efficient addition to my store. It's fast, easy to set up, and offers more than enough features for most small businesses. If you're looking for a cash register that combines modern tech with dependability, this might just be the one for you.

As a small business owner, I've been on the hunt for a reliable, portable cash register to make sales easier at my farmer's market stand. The Royal 100Cx, with its compact design and battery-powered operation, has been a reliable companion for me. The automatic tax computation feature is a game-changer, allowing me to easily manage sales and taxes on-the-go. However, the initial setup can be a bit daunting, and the manual doesn't do a fantastic job of explaining everything.
The preset department pricing and sales analysis by category of merchandise are standout features that have helped me keep track of inventory and sales trends. It's crucial for businesses like mine, where inventory and sales fluctuate frequently. The ink roll printer provides a receipt printout, providing a professional touch to every transaction.
In terms of drawbacks, one thing to note is that the tax computation is limited to only four rates – VAT, Canadian, and a couple of others – which may not cater to everyone's business needs. However, for my small farm market business, it's more than sufficient.
Overall, the Royal 100Cx is a dependable piece of hardware, and it's been a significant asset in streamlining my sales process. It may have a slightly steep learning curve, but once mastered, it's a powerful tool for any small business seeking a portable, autonomous cash register solution.

🔗Royal 435dx Cash Register with 16 Department Capability and 8 Clerks

As a small business owner, I can attest to the convenience of the Royal 435dX Electronic Cash Register in my daily operations. Its 16 departments and 800 PLU's ensure an efficient flow of transactions, while the 8 clerk capacity and 4 tax rates enable seamless management, even for those serving in various locations or catering to international clientele.
One of the highlights of this cash register is the front and rear LCD displays, allowing both the clerk and customer to see each transaction clearly. The memory protection with backup batteries provides added security to safeguard data in case of a power outage, a particularly valuable feature for businesses operating in areas with unpredictable power supply.
However, a minor con would be the single station 57mm impact printer, which could limit the pace of transactions during peak rush hours. Also, the locking cash drawer tends to be a bit cumbersome, requiring more time than necessary to retrieve and return change.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Royal 435dX Electronic Cash Register has significantly improved my business operations, allowing me to keep track of transactions efficiently, even during peak hours. I would recommend this cash register to other small business owners looking for a reliable and feature-rich option that delivers exceptional performance at an affordable price point.

I recently upgraded my old, heavy cash register to the Casio SE-S700, and I must say, it has made running daily transactions a breeze. The built-in rear customer display ensures that prices are accurate, while the 8 department keys and 999 PLUs make it a cinch to organize my inventory.
One of my favorite features is the customizable receipt header, allowing me to print unique messages on each customer receipt. The large, easy-to-read LCD display ensures that no mistakes are made during sales transactions.
However, there are a few cons to consider. The plastic construction doesn't instill much confidence in its durability, and I wish the cash register drawer featured a more secure locking mechanism.
Overall, the Casio SE-S700 has proven to be a reliable and efficient cash register for my small business, saving me time and preventing any hassles when it comes to handling transactions.

I recently got my hands on the Sharp XE-A106 Cash Register and boy, am I impressed! This refurbished gem has been a game-changer in managing sales at my small business.
The first thing that caught my eye was the Microban antimicrobial keys. It's not just about style; it's about hygiene too! The large LED screen is another feature that I absolutely adore. With one line for eight digits, it's so easy to keep track of prices and sales.
The drum printing on standard 2-1/4" plain paper roll is fast and quiet, making it perfect for my retail store. Plus, with functions like eight preprogrammed departments, 80 price lookups, four clerk numbers, auto-tax system, and flash reporting, managing sales has never been easier.
But wait, there's more! The locking cash drawer with four-slot bill compartments, five-slot removable coin tray, and a media slot for quick deposit of checks and bills is just brilliant. Not to forget the easy programming that took me under an hour to set up.
However, nothing's perfect. The one downside I noticed was the slow printing speed. Also, you can't turn off the receipt printer for a "no sale" option.
All in all, the Sharp XE-A106 Cash Register is a reliable workhorse for any small business. Despite the few drawbacks, it's worth every penny. If you're in the market for a cash register, this should definitely be on your list!

The alphanumeric thermal printer, along with the front display and rear LED display, ensures that I can keep track of transactions with ease.
However, there have been some cons as well. The initial setup was a bit challenging due to the lack of clarity in the instruction manual. Some users have also reported issues with the power cord connecting properly to the register.

2024.05.19 12:31 keblawben Is this a new issue for those on 16.1. Sonos' Forced Upgrade Tactics?

EDIT: With diminishing control of my system I tried to access my system via the PC interface and accompanying the blank screen there was only one non-greyed out option which was to update my system! I was really twitching! I was one of the first to post the roll-back option on the Sonos community and feared I was in the crosshairs! Paranoia rules, OK? tee hee!
I then thought through that the PC interface couldn't really invoke the app other than perhaps making it mandatory, but hey it was going that way anyway. So I updated the firmware (which I had blocked) via the PC and normality has returned. Phew!
I still believe that Sonos have radically changed their business model and will mine the users usage behaviour. It may explain them doubling down on the new app despite it's pitiful shortcomings. It's nothing sinister and is just the same as many others are doing elsewhere . They have an interesting USP in that they span and integrate many different streaming services. Valuable data?
ORIGINAL POST....
Like many, I uninstalled the new Sonos app and reloaded from the archived APK (for Android). I disabled updates in both Google Play Store and the Sonos system settings.
It's been good for a week. All was working as expected last evening.
This morning, a couple of my speakers now have the wrench icon against them and refuse to allow any activity unless I upgrade to the new app....Like hell!
I can still play Spotify individually on the affected speakers, but I can't include them in a group via Spotify.
Is this Sonos strong-arming the dissidents to conform and use the new app?
As others have said, I believe the new app collects user behaviour for onward sale. If a significant percentage of the user population doesn't contribute to that data gathering by remaining on the old app, it will impact new revenue streams.
Welcome to being a product rather than a customer!
Edit: the wrench icon has appeared against two more speakers and I can't access them.

2024.05.19 09:19 ProstMeister So, I just upgraded my workhorse from MK3S to MK3.5

The upgrade is definitely worth it. It took me more or less 7 hours to disassemble the old printer, install the upgrade kit, and perform the 1st test print. If you carefully (and I mean, REALLY CAREFULLY) read the instructions, the process goes nice and smooth. Reading the comments also helps.
I didn't use the pre-sliced models for MK3.5 on the USB thumbdrive, as they failed mid-print because the machine switched off the hot end roughly at 50% of the printing process, resulting in an aborted print.
Printing speed is dramatically improved, especially when dealing with objects requiring a lot of X-Y movements: printing speed difference between MK3 and MK3.5 are especially significant with wide and flat objects rather than thin and tall ones.
Even though the printer is now twice as fast, the print quality is the same as before, if not even better: I can see less artifacts on vertical surfaces than before.
The added features are absolutely game changers, especially PrusaConnect and PrusaLink: being able to monitor the printing process wherever I am, and finally being free from SD card fiddling has no price. You can also flash the printer firmware directly from PrusaConnect!
The printer is also quieter than before: since it now prints with input shaping, there's no resonances between axes such as the ones I used to hear before, especially during X-Y combined movements. Also, as motors spin way much faster, the noise it makes is higher pitched.
However, this is not only bells and whistles. I had some issues after the upgrade: as the machine is really being pushed to its limits, if it's not in perfect shape, you may experience problems.
Here are the drawbacks I had:
  1. I wasn't able to unload the filament anymore, it got badly stuck. My PTFE tube was worn out, but this has never been a problem with the old unloading routine. With the new one, though, the printer does an initial "ramming" and pushes the filament hard through the nozzle; it does this to get the filament end a better shape and to save filament when changing color (you need to purge less filament than before to get the right color after the change), but this ramming caused the filament to get stuck into the hot end. I solved this problem by replacing the PTFE tube.
  2. I had to install a silicone sock onto the hot end because the tool head now moves so fast that it struggles to keep the right nozzle temperature.
  3. I still have an issue with the 1st level calibration: as soon as you add a 2nd sheet profile, on the right side of the bed (~5 cm) the filament gets squashed so badly that the nozzle crashes onto the sheet, scratching it. I've reseated all the heatbed screws, it didn't help. I've been in contact with PrusaSupport and they told me that this has been heard before and it's probably a firmware bug (yet to be officially confirmed). I temporarily deal with this problem by not using the standard 1st level calibration.I print an 80x80x0.2 mm square instead.
Having said that, I'm very very happy and impressed by the upgrade kit, it feels like having a new printer and it grants you full support for years to come.
