Sorry for the long post, I am planning to do today HALF of either Sallys Baking addiction or American test kitchen butterscotch pudding recipe. The time require for the total caramelizing of the sugar is very different in both 5min VS 20min.
In sallys recipe she cook the Sugar+ Water+ Salt for 5-6 min

In American test kitchen recipe she cook the Butter+ Sugar+ Corn syrup+ Water+ Salt for a total of 20 min

2024.05.14 05:45 whitelightningz0 Right way to make a classic Margarita

My brother and I are both bartenders. I've been doing it for about 6 years but hes been working for a few years in a restaurant but only 6 months as a bartender. We came to a disagreement yesterday about the right way to make a margarita.
I'm more of a traditional and solely believe a margarita needs no more than 5 ingredients: tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice (fresh. We agree on that), ice, and kosher salt. His claim was that a margarita isn't a margarita, or even a good margarita, without Agave syrup. Our ratios are as follow:
Mine- [2:1:1] for tequila : orange liqueur : lime juice
His- [2 : .75 : .5 : .5] for tequila : orange liqueur : lime juice : agave syrup
I understand that most times people add sugasyrups to accommodate for more sensitive palates nowadays, but I believe it is completely unnecessary and arguably too sweet to have 1:1 ratio of lime juice and agave syrup. I like mine more tart. I don't think it completely changes the drink but I think it's an insult to claim the one he makes is THE way to make a margarita. I don't order margaritas at other places because they make them to sweet, in my opinion.
I make my old fashions by muddling an extra orange slice and cherry, but that's to my taste but I know that's not a classic old fashion and wouldnt serve it unless asked to. That's the one I like cuz I like more of the filthy cherry taste, but I am aware that's a not a true old fashion and I know how to make a real old fashion and would respect it if someone knew how to make a real old fashion.
In the end, I hold the believe that it's important to learn the right way of making a drink and respecting them before you start breaking the rules
That said, what are your guys' take?

2024.05.14 05:38 Stoic_Mazer Strawberry Mead Nutrient

Started my 3rd mead batch, a strawberry melomel this weekend. I got some fermax and DAP and planned to do half of the Fermax on the pitch, then half of the DAP on day one, fermax day two and lastly DAP on day three. Unfortunately when I measured my first half dose Fermax I got my Ts mixed and add 2.5 tablespoons instead of teaspoons. Should I just skip the rest of the nutrient schedule or should I go ahead and add some more DAP at some point.
Ingredients: 15lb Pure and Simple Walmart Honey A gallon of strawberries, juiced, frozen and thawed Lalvin EC1118

Mother's Day ended up being OK. She really loved the gift I ended up putting together. However just I was going to bed I hear them come up the stairs to do the same and she said "Dandelion syrup in cocktails sounds revolting". 1) She doesn't even drink cocktails 2) never has tried it 3) only used the word 'revolting' because I used it once to describe a cocktail with blue cheese, olives (and I forget which liquor was used) (I also don't like blue cheese, and they know this). I'm learning herbalism so I've been making herbal products. Dandelions are hugely popular to use as a syrup. My dad heard her and got pissed and then she was like "Well why can't I use that word?" Seriously? You're describing something you've never even had that I made and called it revolting, that's why. You don't insult someone's work without trying it and even then try to be fucking polite.

2024.05.14 03:19 Ok_Leave1110 Dupe Comparison and Dirty Soul Soap Review

Dupe Comparison and Dirty Soul Soap Review
This is my first time trying DSS:
Lemon Pound Cake (3/5) - The fragrance difference between DSS & BBW is almost night and day. DSS has much more of the citrus note and the cake scent comes a little after. The lemon in this one almost reminds me of Lysol. I love lemon, but it was a bit too strong even for me.
Frosted Animal Cookies (1/5) - The one I was most excited for and also the most disappointing! It smells like straight chemicals to the point I wanted to gag. Think wax mixed with burnt rubber!
Sugar Plum Dream (3/5) - I would categorize this one as a floral. The jasmine and lemon notes shine through but I mainly got this one for the sandalwood. It’s ok just not my favorite.
Firework (5/5) - I can’t even begin to express how much I love this scent! The cherry and berry notes are perfectly complimented by a hint of…lime? I’m definitely considering getting a full sized bottle. Also a dupe for Firecracker Pop.
Peach Rings (5/5) - I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did. The smell was like opening a bag of candy! Pure peachy, sugary, goodness! I need the full size! This one is definitely for the gourmand lovers.
Orange Creamsicle (4/5) - I picked this one up for a friend. I’m not really a fan of orange scents, but it smelled exactly like it’s namesake. I didn’t detect the pineapple note, but if you like orange and vanilla this one is for you.
Grape Jolly Rancher (1/5) - I really wanted to love this one. The only scent I can say it’s similar to is cough syrup. Very medicinal smell and just wasn’t for me.
Strawberry Short Cake (2/5) - Overall this one was pretty underwhelming. The strawberry was very artificial smelling and I didn’t get any cake note. Not as bad as the lowest ranked ones, but still didn’t like it much.

2024.05.14 03:16 NovercaIis Looking to make a large batch of marinara - while keeping cost low

Usually my normal batch is:
However this batch only gets me 2 mason jars which is basically gone in a week. It's not enough sauce for me to whip up some baked ziti, lasangna, shashuka. And I like my sauce thiccccccccc
My issues is the can of San marzano is nearly $6 each. AS IS with the above recipe I am at ~$30 damn cheese grinds are usually $8per grind.
I was wondering is it okay to add regular tomatoes? or regular non san marzano canned tomatoes? Is there any types of tomatoes that pairs well with San Marzano that won't effect it negatively? Spending another $18-24 on just cans of San Mar is just too much. any suggestions pls

Is this normal? what went wrong?
So i made cake batter from scratch just looking up what ingredients a cake needs to be a cake and this is the recipe i made up from it.
3 flour cups
2sugar cups, i wouldve done 3 but it didnt feel right
3 teaspoon of baking powder
2 stick of butter
3 normal size eggs
2 cups of milk
2tablespoon of veggie oil
i sifted the flour, sugar and baking powder then i put the eggs, softened butter and the milk. the butter didnt rlly mix well there was a million tiny pieces of unmelted butter cuz i couldnt figure out what the difference was between melted or softened. anyway i baked the cake at 350 for 40 minutes and i put some of the batter in muffin tins and baked those for 30 and took both out whenever the knife came out a little with batter bcuz "itll continue to bake in the pan" or something

so i cut open one cupcake after i took it out
she is so pretty and is a little crunchy on the top yess
but i cut her open, and she looks so sad :( its dense and a little mushy
i dont know if its supposed to look like this! im gonna cut another one open after its done cooling to see if i was just being impatient

i ate her tho and she tasted like someone tried to make a cake yk its like cornbread but wetter and not tasting like corn.
ill come back to let u know if i have a stomach ache or not from the muffin.

this is what her sister looks like incase ur wondering. im not cutting her yet i need to buy icing tmr

2024.05.14 01:41 mxwllrse Kimchi not producing many bubbles, two days

Kimchi not producing many bubbles, two days
Hey there,
I've made kimchi for the first time a little less than two days ago, so I'm not confident in my method and would like to sanity check here if you would be so kind. I mostly followed the maangchi recipe, but with a few variations due to ingredients, etc.
I've made two with the same paste, one small plastic container with nashi pear and radish cubes which is bubbling and alive on my kitchen counter and another with wombok cabbage that I've got in a 5L glass container with an airlock. This one looks to have very slow moving gas bubbles, they can be occasionally spotted moving to the top of the jar but a lot of them seem mostly stationary or slow. There's also a couple centimetres of liquid forming at the bottom of the jar.
I've done a couple of things I think may be wrong -
  1. When making the glutinous rice flour porridge I mixed in monk fruit sweetener instead of sugar without thinking (I use this as sugar so it didn't register until later) - I did end up blending a quarter of a nashi pear and a couple of tbs of rice malt syrup to make up for it.
  2. I didn't measure my salt, I just rubbed it into the cabbage until everything was coated, waited until it wilted, rinsed and rubbed more into the base of the cabbage then rinsed and squeezed out the cabbage. In terms of other salt, I added fish sauce and a pinch of salt to make up for missing salted shrimp which I couldn't find. This, I now understand was reckless... But a deal-breaker?
My question is, do I just need to be patient a few more days to see more fermentation or have I messed up?
Other thing to note here - it's currently autumn, it's not very warm at the moment. I am keeping it in the kitchen away from the windows, so it might catch humidity from cooking but in general the conditions should be relatively cool since temps have been roughly 16-22°c.
Thank you so much it you've read all this and even more so if you're kind enough to respond ❤️🥬

2024.05.14 00:34 MistySpectre I put corn syrup and glitter on my friends’ car when they betrayed me

Sorry in advance for how long this is. I (19 F) am now in college but this story happened my senior year of high school when I was 18. My two closest friends at my school were twin sisters. Let’s call them Katherine and Olivia (both fake names). I had met Olivia at the beginning of my freshman year of high school when her sister Katherine introduced us. Olivia and I were inseparable and we did everything together. I was friends with Katherine too but not as close as I was with Olivia until our junior year of high school. There were some red flags in my friendship with these two that I see now looking back but was too naive to realize beforehand. For example, I went all out with gifts for them during holidays while they never got me anything in return. I would always show up for Katherine’s swim meets that she and Olivia invited me to come watch so that I could cheer on and support her. They never showed up for any of my horse shows that I would invite them to watch and always claimed to be busy (which I understand life can be busy). I know that may sound petty, but what I’m trying to say is that the effort I put into our friendship was never reciprocated. They would never show up for me or support me the way I did for them. They would also emotionally manipulate me but I won’t get into it because we’d be here all day. Anyway, at the end of spring break our senior year I get a long text message from Olivia who said she was ending her friendship with me. I won’t get into what the message contained but she essentially blamed me for a lot of issues she was having, was gaslighting me, and also lied to me by saying I was never there for her (which is crazy because that’s all I tried to do but she would always push me away). I get it, sharing emotions and being vulnerable can be scary but I always tried my best to support her and lift her up through difficult times. Katherine didn’t send a message but she followed her sister and stopped talking to me. I was absolutely heartbroken because I thought these girls were two of my best friends but then they throw me under the bus and treat me like I’m less than nothing. What hurt even worse is that I had previously opened up to them about some emotional trauma from being betrayed and abandoned by one of my closest friends in elementary school, and they told me that they would always be there for me no matter what. This caused me to fall into a deep hole of depression and I suffered from a lot of emotional trauma that I’m still learning to heal from today. I won’t get into it but I reached a point where I didn’t even want to be alive anymore (but don’t worry I got help and I’m happy to say I’m doing so much better today :) Eventually my sadness turned to anger for what they did to me and I had all of this rage that I had bottled up inside. However, these two didn’t know that I am EXTREMELY PETTY. I decided to get revenge for what they did to me by unleashing the ultimate petty lol. I thought through ideas until I eventually decided on the perfect plan. So I know where they live and I also know they keep their car outside of their garage. I snuck out of my house at 2:00 in the morning and put a crap ton of corn syrup and glitter as well as chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles all over their car (I hope they had fun getting that off lmaooo). That stuff went absolutely everywhere too. I had previously done research to not damage their car as my goal was not to hurt anyone or damage any property but only be really annoying. I then snuck back home and went to bed. Later that morning my mom received a text message from their mom asking to meet up and talk. Now their parents are actually really nice people though. My mom agreed and met up with them at a coffee shop. My mom later told me about it. Her parents deadass asked my mom if I was the one who Willy Wonka’d their car lmao since they weren’t sure who else from our school knew their address besides me. Now my mom already knows how much those twins hurt and was my rock after they betrayed me. She denied that it was me and told their parents that I have grown stronger from their daughters’ kindness and also cruelty (which she said which they cringed at hahahahaha). I felt such a petty sense of satisfaction after this and I was then able to focus on my mental health after getting revenge. TLDR: Betray and hurt me after years of friendship? I will unleash a CandyLand STORM onto your vehicle. Also, if you twins are reading this (and you know who you are); yes it was me lmaooo I hope you had fun washing all of that off your car after. Fuck you both😂😂

2024.05.14 00:18 lindstropicalsno Hiring and Training the Best Employees for Your Shave Ice Business

When it comes to running a successful shave ice or snow cone business, having a solid team is just as crucial as having a top-notch product. Today, we’re delving into the insights provided by some of the highest-performing shave ice businesses in the United States. These top sellers have honed their expertise in building a team that’s not only skilled but also genuinely enhances their business’s community presence. Here’s a comprehensive look at their approach to hiring and training, packed with actionable tips for fellow business owners, especially those just starting a shave ice business or looking to enhance their snow cone business plan.
Tips for Hiring the Best!
1. Customer-focused hires: The interview process is key to discovering why candidates want to join their team. Look for individuals who are genuinely customer-oriented—a critical trait since employees significantly influence customer retention and satisfaction in the profitable shave ice business arena. As one owner noted, their team’s ability to make customers feel valued is often what they hear praised in the community.
2. Avoiding Overstaffing: Understanding the ebb and flow of business across seasons helps in planning the number of hires. These owners have learned from experience to start small and scale up if needed, which mitigates the risk of overstaffing and underutilizing employees, a situation that can lead to dissatisfaction and high turnover rates in the mobile shave ice business.
3. Pre-Hiring Meeting: The most effective owners host a pre-hiring meeting with candidates and their parents, which helps set clear expectations from the start and ensures parents are onboard with the responsibilities of their kids.
4. Setting Clear Expectations: The job descriptions are clear about the roles and responsibilities, which include operating shave ice machines and engaging positively with customers. This clarity helps in attracting the right fit for their business needs and is crucial for those exploring shave ice franchise opportunities.
Creating a Place to Stay and a Place to Grow
1. Recognition and Rewards: Acknowledging hard work and providing incentives such as pay raises and gift cards are practices that the best owners use to motivate and retain staff. They also emphasize the importance of having fun at work, which enhances team spirit, important in fostering a positive environment.
2. Fostering Responsibility: By encouraging team members to handle their scheduling requests responsibly, they cultivate a sense of ownership and maturity among the staff, which translates into more reliable service for customers.
3. Comprehensive Onboarding: New hires undergo a detailed training process, including hands-on practice with the equipment and customer service scenarios. This ensures that each team member is well-prepared before the season begins, enhancing their confidence and capability in handling snow cone syrups and shave ice flavors efficiently.
4. Promoting Product Knowledge: Provide extensive training on the various flavors, toppings, and customization options available to customers. Encourage employees to sample different combinations of flavors to become familiar with the product offerings and make informed recommendations to customers.
5. Emphasizing Upselling Techniques: Train employees on effective upselling techniques to increase average order value, such as suggesting additional toppings, flavor combinations, or larger serving sizes. Provide scripts or role-playing exercises to help employees confidently upsell without appearing pushy or aggressive.
6. Continuous Learning: Regular feedback and ongoing training sessions are part of their strategy to keep the team well-informed and adept at handling various situations. This not only helps in maintaining high standards but also fosters a learning environment, crucial for managing a shave ice seasonal business.
7. Scheduling and Management Tools: Great owners utilize tools like Homebase or When I Work for scheduling and communication, which simplifies managing their team and keeps everyone aligned.
8. Implementing Feedback Mechanisms: Encourage employees to share their insights and suggestions for enhancing operations and customer satisfaction. This helps employees feel apart of the business in a way that encourages them.
9. Social Media and Marketing Training: Educate employees on the importance of social media in promoting the business and engaging with customers online. Provide training on how to create visually appealing shave ice presentations for social media posts and encourage employees to share their experiences and interact with customers on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
Conclusion: Building a Winning Team for Your Shave Ice Venture
By focusing on strategic hiring, comprehensive training, and fostering a supportive and enjoyable work environment, you can build a team that not only performs well but also significantly contributes to the business’s success. Implement these best practices to create a vibrant, efficient team that will keep your customers coming back season after season.

Just got this in the mail. She’s so pure and wholesome ❤️
My spouse, stepdaughter, and I recently made a trip to where I’m from to visit my family. It’s about a 2 hour drive one way to my parents then an extra hour to any extended family. We stopped in to see my grandmother (nanny) while visiting, and she sent us this card:
“Dearest (me and spouse), Thank you for taking time to stop in for a visit Sat. I know it was a busy day for you but it meant a lot for you, (spouse and step kiddo) to visit! Thanks for the orange syrup (my spouse made it for her for Mother’s Day) I’ll enjoy it! Love you all! Nanny”

2024.05.13 23:46 Lothere55 Six Decants from u/Hype_Moments: Reviewed!

Decant Reviews Part II: The Revenge! This batch came to me from the most excellent u/Hype_Moments, who thoughtfully reached out to me to inform me of his services after I expressed dismay at my inability to obtain samples directly from Montagne. The decants arrived promptly and packaged securely enough to withstand a nuclear blast! I also appreciate the attention to detail when it comes to labeling: matching Montagne's font and including the notes makes the sampling process feel very deluxe. Great experience, would order again!
On to the fragrances. Unless stated otherwise, I have not smelled the inspiration fragrances, so I am judging these on their own merit. For your reference, I typically prefer unisex fragrances, but I decided to roll the dice and included three feminine scents this time. I'm 29, and I work in both office and classroom environments. Let's get into it!
Eau Vanille: This one is not for everyone, but it's definitely for me. The rich, deep vanilla combined with the guiac wood and incense smells like going to mass at a grand Cathedral. Sophisticated, solemn, mysterious. I imagine that Notre Dame smells like this on Good Friday. Honestly, it kind of reminds me of my confirmation. I swear, the oil the bishop puts on your (greasy, 13-year-old) forehead smells a lot like this. That said, I love this because it reminds me of a positive moment in my faith formation, but it may evoke complex or negative reactions in others. The incense calms down after a couple of hours, which allows the vanilla to shine. Definitely not too sweet, and reads straightforwardly unisex to me. If you're a vanilla-lover looking for something a bit different with some oomph, this could be for you. Maybe not the best choice for the heat of summer, but I will be looking to purchase the full bottle come autumn. Would wear to my arch-rival's funeral.
Strawberry Milk: The wildcard of the bunch. I did not think I was going to like this because I thought it was going to be extremely juvenile and sickly sweet. I ordered it out of pure curiosity after hearing about the ungodly sums folks were shelling out to get their hands on a bottle. While it's definitely a sweet gourmand, it's not syrupy sweet. It's kind of fruity and powdery and just a bit herbal. There's something in here that comes off a little minty to my nose, which is baffling considering the notes. I'm not getting anything particularly strawberry-like, though. Maybe a hint of something lactonic, like malted milk powder, and a burnt-sugar note that could be caramel. Very wearable if you like sweet scents. Not obtrusive, kind of like if you gave a your-skin-but-better scent some moxie. Certainly not your typical celebrity scent. I could see a lot of women liking this. The longevity wasn't the best on this one, though: I think I got about four hours out of it. I'm not personally in love with it, but I'm glad I tried it.
Pink Rose Exclusif: Good Lord, y'all. This THE hot girl perfume. The most attractive woman you can think of probably wears this. It's a really beautiful, sweet, creamy, powdery rose wrapped in a veil of incense and supported by vanilla and woody notes in the base. There's some fruitiness in there too, particularly in the opening. Despite the powderiness and incense, it's quite edible smelling; like a fruity sponge cake that's also drenched in rose syrup, served immediately after the Confirmation service (callback!). I recognize this scent because I have encountered it in the wild on women wearing Delina Exclusif or its dupes, and it definitely... affects me, shall we say. This will turn heads for sure. It also lasts forever with excellent projection. I put on 3 sprays, wore it all day, went to sleep, and then my pillow and sheets smelled like Pink Rose Exclusif for DAYS, just from coming into contact with my arm. You absolutely do not need much of this. As much as I love it, I'm on the fence about whether to buy it, because I'm not sure how often I would actually wear it. It's a little more femme than my personal style usually calls for, imo. Plus, I'm not sure I want all the attention this would garner. That said, it's a 10/10 frag, I'd go for it today if I were single and ready to mingle. UPDATE: After writing this review, I got the opportunity to test the OG in-store, and I can confirm that this is a 1 to 1 dupe. I don't detect any difference whatsoever. Nice work, Montagne!
Pink Rose: This one humbled me. I had already tried the Exclusif version, and figured this was the more wearable, daytime version. I did my normal application (1 spray each on wrists & inner elbows, 2 sprays on the neck, 1 on the front of my shirt) and then headed to the office. When my coworker told me I smelled good from 6 feet away, I knew I had overdone it. I was smelling this all day long, from the 8:30 AM application until bed time. And not just little whiffs here and there, I'm talking constant presence in my olfactory organ. A little distracting, if I'm honest. Luckily, it's a beautiful fragrance. Florals are hit or miss for me, but I have a soft spot for rose. Whereas the Exclusif smells like rose dessert, this smells like a living rose growing fresh and vibrant in the garden. The litchi and rhubarb bring in a little sharpness, and there's a green accord in there that's really refreshing. This is rose done in a modern, interesting way, and I dig it. Feminine, but in a way that feels manageable for my typical presentation. Despite my initial blunder, I do think it's more every-day wearable than its sister as long as you are conservative with your application. Will buy for sure, and probably sooner rather than later.
Carnal Gray Extrait: In a word: exquisite. This smells like being wealthy, well-traveled, and the hottest person at the function. Charisma in a bottle. Effortlessly sexy without being provocative. It's well blended, but not linear. We start with a spicy, herbaceous opening; you get the cardamom right away, with some sweet green undertones. Then, a beautiful dry down. It becomes more powdery with a bit sweetness thanks to iris, tonka, and vanilla. The woodiness from cedar and sandalwood and earthiness from vetiver and patchouli keep it from going gourmand, and the result is something deep, dark, and complex. Perfect for special occasions where you want to dress to impress, this would be the ultimate companion to a well-tailored suit or a fancy cocktail dress. Apparently folks are somewhat divided on whether Gris Charnel Extrait leans feminine or masculine, but to me, CGE is perfectly unisex. Great performance; three sprays lasts me all day with moderate projection. This is my favorite fragrance from Montagne so far, and in the running for my favorite fragrance of all time. It's probably not the best choice for the hot, humid summer that's coming my way, but I don't even care, this is going to the top of the queue. 12/10, I am writing in my will that I want this sprayed on me before I go in the casket.
Brooklyn Jazz: At last, a fragrance that I can compare to its inspiration! I have smelled and fallen in love with Maison Margiela's Jazz Club, and was super excited to see how the wallet-friendly version from Montagne stacks up. Indeed, it's a very close match. We have a nice peppery opening that gives way to boozy, rum tobacco heaven. It's not in the notes, but this definitely comes off leathery to my nose. It smells like sitting in a leather armchair, sipping on dark liquor, and smoking... some kind of tobacco product. I want to say a pipe rather than a cigar, but neither is my vice of choice, so I can't be sure. Either way, old school badass. Think Ron Swanson in Duke Silver mode. If anything, there is perhaps more of an herbal accord here that I didn't notice in Jazz Club, but that could be due to the translation from EDT to EDP. Masculine leaning, but still suitable for ladies who appreciate smokey scents. Altogether, a lovely warm and cozy scent. Decent longevity, but the projection could be better (maybe needs maceration). I do like it, but I'm more motivated to get my hands on Carnal Gray Extrait and Eau Vanille, both of which are certainly different, but occupy a similar region of the fragrance family tree. I may pick it up after I make it through the summer.
Thanks for reading my reviews! And special thank-yous to both u/Hype-Moments and u/AyybrahamLmaocoln for supplying this community with decants and saving us from the anxiety of blind-buying. Let me know if you have any recommendations for my next decant order, particularly more masculine scents that are good for summer; I want my collection to have a little of everything. What do y'all think of Afternoon Dive and Torino 2021? That's all, over and out.

2024.05.13 23:38 Worried_Value_648 Asthma? Copd?

Hello! Please, whoever has the patience to read would help me enormously, as I have been suffering for 7 months. Sorry for bad english!!! I'm only 18 years old, I don't want my life to end or be like this. I had my first panic attacks around October 2023. I didn't know how they felt, I had them from calcium drops but they manifested differently. I went to the psychiatrist where I received Serlift 0.5 mg per day, but after 5 weeks I abandoned them because I could hardly tolerate them, I had nausea, constantly dilated pupils, imbalance, etc. On top of that, I also had swallowing difficulties which were quite rare but became more and more frequent. In December, I had already reached the point where I could no longer swallow solid food, and in January (2024) I started not being able to feed myself even with mashed things, purees, etc. I was eating somewhere around 2-3 teaspoons of soup per hour, somewhere around 2 bowls of clear soup. I went to a gastroenterologist where they did a digestive endoscopy, without a biopsy, and there was a wound caused by acid on the esophagus at the bottom, so their diagnosis was reflux + a hiatal hernia. I received treatment with Nexium (one pill in the morning) but I did not feel any improvement. At the same time, I went to the ENT because I felt like I couldn't breathe and they said that I have hypertrophic chronic rhinitis, which doesn't go away, so if it continues like this I will have to have laser surgery, it's quite an easy operation and minimally invasive, but they are worried back the nasal turbinates. The difficulty in swallowing decreased for a while, but it appeared again, stronger that I could not even swallow saliva and water without drowning. I then went to the doctor in Cluj where they redid my endoscopy and manometry. The manometry came out normal, but at the endoscopy, this time with a biopsy, I had reflux esophagitis. I received nexium treatment in the morning and in the evening and in addition to that I also did acupuncture and everything is almost back to normal, I still have a difficulty with bakery products and with seeds, meat. Rather, the problem remained that I feel how it slowly flows down my throat, but it's ok. During the investigations I went to the lungs and the heart. They discovered adult asthma in my lungs (I didn't have asthma as a child but I had many pneumonias) and since then I received treatment with foster and an antihistamine in the evening (Aerius). I felt that I was breathing hard (that I was inhaling hard), but I quickly understood that this is also anxiety, because many times my oxygenation was good. I haven't given up smoking since I have asthma, I've reduced it but now I want to quit because I feel that it's hard to EXPIRE the air outside, or I feel that when I want to inhale, I exhale. Or when I exhale deeply forcefully (because I have to force myself) I feel a pressing pain like a punch between the chest and the neck but rather towards the neck. The therapist said that these are NOT signs of anxiety, but the doctor I go to knows my problems with anxiety and often leaves it to her. I went to the heart because I had low blood pressure, but I also had anemia and that was also a cause (I have a very white face and palms). He said it could be a sinus tachycardia. But more recently, I feel as if my left breast is trembling or aching. The problem with breathing worries me the most, I'm afraid that there might be some hidden pneumonia. I had lung x-rays almost 2 months ago, but then I did NOT have those symptoms. I'm not saying that it's not possible for something to have appeared in such a short time? I keep thinking why do I have these moods? The therapist says that she does NOT think it's anxiety because even in the neurofeedbeek device (the one that measures the stress delta wave) I have low waves after the therapy. I don't want to feel like this anymore, I want to live my life because I don't have any worries or stress. If this time too everything looks good on x-rays and ultrasounds, what tests should I do? What lack of minerals/vitamins or what deficiency can cause such ugly conditions? Note: I think I know how to explain batter. I feel like i keep the CO2 in my lung instead of letting it go out.

Raid Mechanics Spotlight 3:

Defensive Debuffs

\*Please note that the strategies covered here are not original to the author. Often, these strategies are collaborative works which have been developed by communities over time***

Overview:

Defensive debuffs can be used to increase damage to a raid boss significantly. Combining these with other support methods and offensive buffs can end raids in as little as one or two turns. Specific debuffs can be used to reduce Defense or Special Defense through the raid boss’s shield as well, something particularly useful in event raids.

Details:

Defensive debuffs work by changing the stat stages of a Pokémon, which changes the damage multiplier used during damage calculations. For a more thorough break down of stat stages, see the Raid Mechanics Spotlight 1. The table of damage multipliers has been included below.
Stat Stage Multiplier Table
Defensive debuffs put negative stat stages on a target. This multiplier then reduces the associated defense accordingly. So, for example, a raid boss who has negative four stat stages on their Defense will have their Defense multiplied by one third during damage calculations.
Defensive debuffs can be divided into two categories: Physical Defense debuffs and Special Defense debuffs. Those can be further subdivided into status moves and damaging moves. Status moves cannot be used through shield and can be disabled by Taunt. Damaging moves can be used through shield and cannot be disabled by Taunt, but are very limited in which Pokémon have them.
Physical Defensive Status debuff moves are: Screech, Leer, Tail Whip, Tickle, and Spicy Extract. Leer and Tail Whip aren't used as often as other moves on this list because they only lower Defense by one stat stage. Tickle also lowers Defense by one stat stage but it lowers Attack by one stat stage at the same time which can be particularly useful against bosses which buff themselves before the raid begins.
Screech is by far the most commonly used Physical Defensive Status debuff as it is available on a wide variety of Pokémon and it lowers Defense by two stat stages. The major drawback of Screech is its Accuracy which is only 85%; however, there are a number of ways to mitigate this. One way is with held items. Wide Lens can be used to increase Accuracy by 10%, which will make Screech’s Accuracy about 93%. This improvement isn't perfect, but many raiders find it sufficient for every day raids because often, if Screech does miss, they can simply use Screech again the next turn without fear of being knocked out or running out of time in their strategy. For event raids and farming raids for resources though, 93% isn't the best option. That's where Zoom Lens comes in. Zoom Lens increases accuracy by 20% as long as the user is slower than the target. This leads many raiders to make Screech supports with 0 Speed IVs and Relaxed or Sassy natures to get their Speed as low as possible. Popular Zoom Lens Screechers include Umbreon, Perrserker, both forms of Muk, Corviknight, Bastiodon, and Snorlax.
Items aren't the only way to increase Accuracy. Moves such as Gravity, Defog, and Sweet Scent can reduce raid boss Evasion, which is the same as boosting Accuracy. Additionally, Dipplin and Hydrapple have the ability Supersweet Syrup which lowers the Evasion of opposing Pokémon by one stage. There's also an ability called Compound Eyes which increases accuracy by 30%. Venonat is often used as a Screecher because it has Compound Eyes and has good bulk when it holds Eviolite, which increases both of its defenses by 50%. Yanma, Joltik, and Galvantula also have Compound Eyes and the move Screech, but aren't used as often for various reasons including lack of access to a Special Defense debuff move.
Spicy Extract is a very special debuff move because it is also a buff move. It lowers Defense by two stages and increases Attack by two stages. This can be a valuable tool but it can be dangerous as well. It shouldn't be used against a raid boss with a physical attack. If Spicy Extract is used on the raid boss, a raider can copy the Attack boost using the held item Mirror Herb. Using Simple Beam on the raid boss before Spicy Extract doubles both the debuff and buff and can be used to end raids as quickly as one turn if used correctly. For more information on Simple Beam and an example strategy using Simple Beam, Spicy Extract, and Mirror Herb, see the Raid Mechanics Spotlight 1. Spicy Extract is only available to Scovillain currently.
Physical Defensive Damaging debuff moves are: Fire Lash, Grav Apple, and Thunderous Kick. In Scarlet and Violet, each of these moves is only available on one Pokémon naturally (though Smeargle can learn them using Sketch) which greatly limits their use. Fire Lash is learned by Salazzle. Grav Apple is learned by Flapple. Neither of these is particularly bulky and isn't the best support for long raids, making them not particularly popular. Thunderous Kick is learned by Galarian Zapdos which, while reasonably bulky, doesn't possess a great deal of other support moves and isn't the most widely available Pokémon, only being available in Sword and Shield DLC or Pokémon GO. It should also be noted that all three of these moves only drop Defense by one stage, which is fairly slow compared to the Special Defense options in the damaging category.
While the above moves guarantee a Defense stat stage decrease, there are also a number of moves which have a chance to lower Defense. These can be useful in a pinch and as a backup moves, but aren't reliable enough to plan strategies around. These moves are Crunch, Crush Claw, Iron Tail, Liquidation, Razor Shell, Rock Smash, and Triple Arrows. Some of these moves have a drop chance as high as 50%, while others are significantly lower. Theoretically, Serene Grace could be Skill Swapped onto a Pokémon with access to one of the moves with a 50% drop chance, but in practice this is slow and not usually worth it or required.
Special Defense Status debuff moves are: Fake Tears and Metal Sound. Metal Sound has the same Accuracy as Screech. This makes Fake Tears far more common to use as it is 100% accurate. This allows Fake Tears users to hold an item like Covert Cloak to avoid secondary effects instead of holding a Wide or Zoom Lens without the need to increase accuracy through other methods.
Special Defense Damaging debuff moves are: Acid Spray, Apple Acid, and Lumina Crash. Acid Spray is the move common mainly due to the fact that it has the most possible users. It lowers Special Defense by two stages, which is extremely useful when compared to similar options on the Physical Defensive Damaging debuff side. Many, though by no means all, Acid Spray users have a Poison typing which can limit usage in raids where the boss has moves which are super effective against Poison Types. It should also be noted that Acid Spray will not work on Steel Tera bosses. Notable Acid Spray users are Venonat, Hisuian Qwilfish, both forms of Muk, Arbok, and Goodra.
Apple Acid and Lumina Crash are both limited to one Pokémon each currently (Smeargle notwithstanding). Apple Acid drops Special Defense by one stat stage and is only available to Appletun. What makes this move particularly useful is Appletun’s bulk and access to Giga Drain, which makes it an excellent solo raider. Lumina Crash, like Acid Spray, drops Special Defense by two stages and is available to Espathra. Unlike Acid Spray, Lumina Crash can be used against Steel Tera, but it cannot be
Like the Physical Defensive Damaging debuffs category, the Special Defense Damaging debuffs category has moves which have a chance to drop Special Defense but aren't guaranteed and thus aren't recommended for planning strategies. These moves are: Acid, Bug Buzz, Earth Power, Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Focus Blast, Luster Purge, Psychic, Seed Flare, and Shadow Ball.
While debuffs in these categories can be extremely useful, there are a few things which can render them useless. One thing is certain abilities. If the attacker in your raid has the ability Unaware, it will ignore all stat changes to either defense, including your debuffs. Additionally, Pokémon with the ability Clear Body cannot be debuffed. The ability Contrary will reverse debuffs, making them buffs instead. Similarly, when a Pokémon with Defiant or Competitive is debuffed, their Attack or Special Attack, respectively, will increase by two stages. These abilities can be changed or neutralized using a move like Gastro Acid in order to make use of debuffs. For damaging moves to debuff, they must be able to hit their target. This means that Acid Spray will not work on Steel targets, Lumina Crash will not work on Dark targets, Apple Acid will not work on targets with the Sap Sipper ability, Fire Lash will not work on targets with the Flash Fire ability, and Thunderous Kick will not work on Ghost targets. Though raid bosses do not normally get items, theoretically if one were to hold a Clear Amulet they couldn't be debuffed until the item was knocked off using Knock Off. Raid bosses are also able to clear their stats and negative effects, which means that their negative stat stages will return to zero (though this will not affect their positive stat changes). The moves Clear Smog and Haze will remove all stat changes, both positive and negative. Clear Smog affects one target while Haze affects every Pokémon active on the field. The move Mist prevents all debuffs on the user. Mist can be cleared using Defog or bypassed using a Pokémon with the Infiltrator ability.
For those looking for a solid team of debuffers to start their raid team, this author recommends the following builds for Umbreon, Perrserker, and Muk.
These builds and Pokémon give you a variety of options to overcome obstacles. Together, they are strong against a number of types with one often covering the weaknesses of the others. Additional, these Pokémon are all slow, allowing for them to be used as Zoom Lens Screechers. They all also possess both physical and special defensive debuffs, with one of them even possessing a Special Defense Damaging debuff. While they will not cover every single situation, they will cover a great number of situations and allow for new raiders to find a place in most raids.
Note that the above builds are designed as Balanced Builds, which may not suit every situation but are designed to take the least amount of damage from both physical and special attacks. The given IVs are ideal IVs, but are by no means required for most situations. The Speed IVs tend to be more important due to the requirements of Zoom Lens, but plenty of raids will not require 0 Speed IVs.

Examples:

Here are some examples of specific strategies where debuffs can be used:

Basic Example:

Defensive Debuffs Basic Example
This is a two turn example strategy using Screech against a Bug Tera Goodra. Bug Tera was chosen to showcase this strategy against a type which takes super effective damage against Fire type moves, which we are using for the Attacker.
This example strategy begins, like many others, with buffs and debuffs changing stat stages. All of these actions happen at approximately the same time. Charizard uses Belly Drum to increase its Attack to the maximum six stages. Belly Drum also takes half of Charizard's HP, but a portion is restored using the Sitrus Berry. Mew uses Helping Hand to boost Charizard's next damaging move by 50%. Because this effect isn't used until Charizard uses a damaging move, it doesn't matter if Charizard uses Belly Drum before or after Mew uses Helping Hand.
Both Umbreons use Screech twice. Since the maximum amount a stat can be lowered is six stages, one of these Screeches is technically not needed, but for the sake of simplicity and ease of execution, the action has been included for both Umbreons. This way, both Umbreons do the same thing in both turns, rather than trying to do different things and possibly causing confusion among the players. These Screeches are all 100% accurate because Umbreon is holding a Zoom Lens and is naturally slower than Goodra as long as Umbreon has 0 Speed IVs and a Sassy nature.
To add a final extra boost, Mew uses an Attack Cheer to further boost damage from the team by 50%. This stacks with the boost from Helping Hand as well. Charizard then uses Temper Flare to achieve a One Hit Knock Out (OHKO) on Goodra.
This strategy can be found in the TRB here

The following are more advanced strategies that make use of Raid Mechanics which may be covered in future Spotlights:

Simple Spice:

https://preview.redd.it/p0yhhpe3e90d1.png?width=3600&format=png&auto=webp&s=02d2c0975504bec84b22b44cee1eb2cc306fb4da
This is a single turn example strategy using Simple Beam and Spicy Extract against a Psychic Tera Frosmoth. Psychic Tera was chosen to showcase this strategy against a type which takes super effective damage against Dark type moves, which we are using for the Attacker.
Spicy Extract, combined with Simple Beam, gives the Frosmoth raid boss 4 stages of Attack and minus 4 stages of Defense. Because Frosmoth has no physical attacks to make use of the 4 stages of Attack, this is fairly safe, but with other bosses, such as the Goodra above, this strategy would be much more dangerous. The fact that Frosmoth is a special attacker is also why Spoink was chosen over a similar Simple Beam Support like Golduck since it has particularly high Special Defense.
The Kingambit attacker copies the positive stat changes from Spicy Extract using the Mirror Herb that it holds, giving Kingambit 4 stages of Attack as well. When it does this, the Mirror Herb is used up. Florges then gives Kingambit the Choice Band using its Symbiosis ability. Florges further supports Kingambit by using Attack Cheer, though Helping Hand could be used instead. All of this gives Kingambit the strength it needs to achieve a one turn OHKO.
This strategy can be found in the TRB here

Acid Spray and Fake Tears:

Defensive Debuffs Acid Spray and Fake Tears Example
This is a three turn example strategy using Acid Spray and Fake Tears against a Grass Tera Vaporeon. Grass Tera was chosen to showcase this strategy against a type which takes not very effective damage to Electric type damage in order to showcase a high level of damage without the fear of overflow. Note that while this strategy is a three turn example, some may refer to it as a 2.25 turn example. The .25 indicates that only a single Pokémon moves on the third turn.
As the raid begins, Hadron Engine summons Electric Terrain before anything else can happen. The Electric Terrain will prevent Vaporeon from putting any of the raiders to sleep with Yawn and increase the power of Electric type moves by 30%. Additionally, the terrain activates Hadron Engine, which increases Miraidon’s Special Attack, and Quark Drive on Iron Moth. Iron Moth’s build has been designed specifically to ensure Quark Drive increases its Special Defense by 30% rather than its naturally high Special Attack. This is in contrast to the other builds which focus on overall damage mitigation, what is often referred to as Balanced or Optimal builds. An Iron Moth Balanced build would have 252 EVs in Defense and an Impish nature, rather than the 252 Special Defense EVs and Careful nature this Iron Moth has. Thanks to the extra Special Defense EVs, its Assault Vest held item, and the Special Defense boost from Quark Drive, Iron Moth is able to survive up to three critical hits from this Vaporeon, despite being weak to its Surf attack. Note that if the Tera type for Vaporeon was changed, Iron Moth and the other raiders might not survive as well due to the inclusion of Tera Blast in Vaporeon’s moves. This strategy would also be completely useless against a Ground Tera Vaporeon since Electric type attacks cannot hit Ground types.
The order of moves in the first turn doesn't matter, though this is not the case for turn two. Tinkatuff, aided in its survival by Eviolite, uses Fake Tears to lower Vaporeon's Special Defense by two stages. Iron Moth similarly uses Acid Spray to lower Vaporeon's Special Defense by two stages. Florges uses Helping Hand, which will persist on Miraidon until Miraidon uses a damaging move. This means that despite Miraidon using status moves in this strategy, the Helping Hand boost will not be used until it attacks. On the first turn, Miraidon uses Calm Mind to increase its Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage each.
On the second turn, move order is more important. Tinkatuff must move after Miraidon to avoid having Miraidon trapped using Charge by Choice Specs. So Miraidon, Iron Moth, and Flores move before Tinkatuff. Miraidon uses Charge, which increases its Special Defense by one stage and doubles the power of the next damaging Electric type move it uses. Iron Moth uses Acid Spray to lower Vaporeon's Special Defense another two stages for a total of six stages, which is the maximum it can be lowered. Florges uses an Attack Cheer to further boost damage done by its team. Then, Tinkatuff uses Fairy Wind on Miraidon. Since Fairy Wind is super effective on Miraidon, this activates Miraidon's Weakness Policy, the which increases Miraidon's Attack and Special Attack by two stages each. This puts Miraidon at a total of three stages of Special Attack. Once the Weakness Policy is used up, Florges passes its Choice Specs to Miraidon using its Symbiosis ability. Note that Symbiosis passes the held item of the Pokémon with that ability to which Pokémon uses an item first. To avoid having the Choice Specs passed to the wrong Pokémon, Miraidon is the only Pokémon in this strategy with a consumable item.
With the boosts from Calm Mind and Weakness Policy, the boost from Choice Specs, the debuffs from Fake Tears and Acid Spray, the boost from Helping Hand, the boost from Attack Cheer, and the boosts from Electric Terrain and Hadron Engine, Miraidon is able to knock out Vaporeon using one Electro Drift despite Vaporeon's Tera type resisting Electric damage.
This strategy can be found in the TRB here

Summary:

Defensive debuffs are at the heart of most raids strategies and provide a way to deal massive damage to raid bosses with each hit. Most debuffs are status moves, but some are damaging moves which can be useful in cases where a raid boss summons a shield.

2024.05.13 22:57 colbaltotter1772 Eczema and maple tree allergy

So my son, who is 3, has had a severe case of eczema since he was 9 months old. We’ve gone through allergy testing, and staying clear from his allergens, plus a shot of dupixent every 4 weeks, and Vtama daily has cleared his skin to what I consider 90% (he still has some patches but we celebrate what small wins we have).
I have a weird question. He’s allergic to maple trees. Would he also be allergic to maple syrup? His allergist said probably not, but he (my son) has a pretty severe sunflower seed allergy that we deal with daily (apparently sunflower seed oil is in a LOT of products).
His skin has been clear from flare ups for 2 months now and I don’t want another to happen. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a maple allergy that has made their eczema flare.

2024.05.13 22:26 ManglaseryBlueKundan Muscleblaze Blaze vs ON Performance Whey

I have been gyming for 6 months now and have used 1. A.m.u.l Protein Poweder 2. Muscleblaze Bio enzyme whey
I kind of became bored with a.m.u.l as it has some foaming issues and personally I had to use it with boost or syrups as it was too bland ( no artificial sweetners, but I got bored). switched to muscleblaze, I felt it was better, especially since I didn't need to bother around carrying additional flavouring, mixed well and is versatile for some of my recipes.
Now I am kind of concerned with MB's heavy metal traces and wanted to explore some options. I had in the used myprotein 5yrs back, which was great. but they have hiked the price very much now.
I hear great reviews of avaatar, but sceptical since it doesn't have independent certification and not a reputed brand like A.m.u.l. Now I am confused with 3 options 1. ON performance whey 2. ON gold standard ( Indian made, since international ranges are more expensive) 3. Muscleblaze
Any insights will be highly appreciated.
Also would like to know whether myprotein india's products are imported or india made.

2024.05.13 21:00 AnUnearthlyGay Four months vegan! Time for some more food product reviews 🌱

Sorry that this one is a little late, I've been busy recently. To see my previous monthly reviews, please visit this link.
I've tried a couple of vegan sausage rolls this month. First was the Walls Vegan Jumbo Sausage Roll. It was ok, certainly edible, but nothing amazing and a bit expensive for just one sausage roll. 6/10.
Next were the OMV No Pork Sausage Rolls. There were much nicer than the Walls sausage roll and were a little bit cheaper, too. 8/10.
Tesco Plant Chef Mushroom Pizza is genuinely the nicest pizza I have ever tried. The cheese and dough is delicious, and it has just the right amount of spinach and mushrooms on top. I love this pizza. The only drawback is that it is slightly more expensive than other supermarket pizzas. 9/10.
The BOL Teriyaki Noodles were abysmal. It was like eating rubber bands and cardboard dressed in cheap golden syrup. Do not try these nasty noodles. 1/10.
Galaxy makes a tremendous vegan hot chocolate. It tastes just as good as their regular hot chocolate, but doesn't make you feel bloated after drinking a mildly over-sized mug. Like many vegan products, it is more expensive than the animal-abuse variant, but the price is justified by the experience of silky-smooth hot chocolate being poured down your throat. 8/10.
Expertly crafted from only the best organic PVA glue, Violife Greek style block finally allows you to experience what is was like for the kid who ate Pritt Sticks in the back of the classroom. To be fair, I didn't like dairy Greek cheese before I became vegan, but I can hardly imagine that it was this bad. Seriously, yikes. 1/10.
Tesco Free From Red Pesto is nothing special, but it's tasty and is a great addition to any quick and simply pasta dish. It has a mild tomato flavour, so it won't stand out when added to pasta bakes or pizza, but added in with pasta and some veggies it makes for an excellent enhancement. 7/10.
CAKE! CAKE! FINALLY! Vermondo Vegan Marble Cake is a block of happiness. I would eat it all in one sitting if I didn't think it would give me everlasting abdominal pain. It's greasy, but it's delicious. 7/10.
OMV Jerk Mac and Cheese Flavour Pasta makes me want to jerk with hot sauce. This is just another supposedly-instant pot-based vomit-smelling pasta fuckfest. Oh, and it actually looks like vomit, too. It gets a 2/10 purely because I ate most of it because I was very hungry.
Mrs Crimble makes some delicious vegan chocolate macaroons. Dense, oily, and with a tendency to give me stomach cramp, it's everything I look for in a sweet treat. Mrs Crimble could taste my vegan sausage any time. 7/10.
Alpro are back at it again with their Devilishly Dark Chocolate Dessert. Basically just their milk, but thicker and more expensive. Very good, but just get the milk. 8/10.
Vego Whole Hazelnut Vegan Chocolate Bar is my replacement for Toblerone or a choccy orange. Overpriced, thick hunks of chocolate with tasty hazelnuts mixed in. It will be my new addiction I'm sure. I ate two in one week. Try this now. 9/10.
Well that's everything I tried this month. As always, I hope this has helped you to decide which products are worth trying or avoiding. If you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments. My local shops are Tesco, Lidl, and Asda. Love y'all! <3
