2024.06.09 00:39 Treasure_Island99 [Online][DCC][Sundays 2-6 PST] DM looking for party members in a player driven homebrew campaign.

Hello Adventurers!

I am looking for 4-5 players for a new homebrew DCC campaign.

Campaign Overview:

The players begin as a band of local commoners embarking on an opportunistic first quest for riches. Those who survive and still have the stomach to continue on a life of adventure will go on to risk their lives against strange and terrible monsters, wield dangerous and unpredictable arcane magic, perform mighty feats of arms, make pacts with dubious extra-planar entities, and more over the course of the campaign.
The campaign will begin with a level 0 funnel. At the end of the funnel each player will choose 1 surviving character of theirs to advance to level 1 and continue with as their PC. At this point the party will have a few quest hooks and the focus will be on the emergent, player-driven narrative. I'm very open minded about where the party takes the game. I plan on wrapping this campaign up at level 5.

Game Details:

  • Day and Time: Sundays 2-6pm PST.
  • Frequency: Weekly.
  • Level Range: 0-5
  • Races / Classes: The 7 core classes, plus the 9 classes from the Crawl! zine: Bard, Dwarf Priest, Elven Rogue, Gnome, Halfing Burglar, Halfling Champion, Paladin, Ranger, and Orc.
  • Optional Rules: Lankhmar Fleeting Luck, Adventuring & Exploration supplemental rules.
  • Tools: Camera and microphone are both required.
  • Platforms: Discord for voice and video. Google docs or form fillable PDFs for character sheets (TBD). Talespire is the VTT we will be using. NOTE: I own enough seats for everyone. You will not need to purchase TaleSpire to play in this campaign. You will need to be able to install and run the software though.
  • Character Creation: Players will pick a block of 4 level 0 commoners from a pool of 4 character blocks. These characters can be whichever race you choose. When your character advances to level 1 you can swap 2 of their stats, which will be enough to make any class / race viable. Once your character hits level 1 you can worry about filling out their back story.
  • Character Advancement: XP based. XP will be awarded for defeating monsters, recovering non-magical treasure, and for successfully navigating high-stakes social encounters.
  • Session 0: There will be a session 0. Everyone can get to know each other, level 0 commoners can be chosen, the party can go over tentative plans for their characters, handouts can be distributed, questions can be answered, we can make sure the tools and platforms are working well for everyone, and start the campaign all on the same page.

About Me:

My name is JC (34, he/him) and I'm an inexperienced GM putting together my first campaign. I've run a few DCC 1 shots and a couple of homebrew short 5e adventures (2-5 sessions). My first exposure to TTRPGs was dabbling in 3.5 when I was a kid. I started playing 5e about 2.5 years ago and began trying out other systems and GMing shortly thereafter.

GMing Style:

I enjoy the OSR and trad styles of play. My favorite thing about trad games are the potential for more complex narratives and deeper character customization. My favorite things about OSR games are that creativity is highly encouraged and rewarded, emergent storytelling, and decisions feel much more meaningful when the stakes are consistently so high.
I like for the 3 pillars of roleplay, exploration, and tactical play to all be well represented. Some sessions will have a balanced mix of all 3 elements, others will focus heavily on 1. It will all depend on the party's course of action.
I generally stick to the RAW/RAI as best I can. OSR-style creative problem solving is highly encouraged. If you pitch me an idea on how to solve a problem, I'll always hear you out, and if I don't allow it, I'll explain why. Consistency with rules and rulings is key.
I roll all attacks, damage, and saves that the PCs would be aware of in the open. I do not fudge those kinds of rolls. My monsters know what they are doing and my bandits want to make it home alive. That being said, I am always the party's #1 fan. I want the party to succeed against the odds and see their ambitions fulfilled, but sometimes thats not how the dice shake out. I do strive a reasonable amount of balance. There is also nothing wrong with trying to circumvent an encounter, or attempting a social solution. If all else fails, retreat is an option too!
Character backstory exists primarily to inform roleplay and secondarily to provide material for potential plot hooks. The events and decisions that happen at the table are the most meaningful part of the character's story.
I prepare situations for the party the react to and interact with and allow the story to emerge instead of trying to create a specific story.

What I Am Looking For:

  • Players must be 18 or older.
  • You do not need to be an expert on all of the rules, but I will expect you to have a firm grasp on what is relevant to your character.
  • Active, engaged players. This table is not a good fit for players with the audience member playstyle.
  • Punctual and reliable players. Everyone should consistently be ready to begin playing at the scheduled time. Cancellations should be made as far in advance as possible. I prefer the whole party be in attendance every session, but we will play as long as at least 3 players are in attendance. If you have difficulty showing up on time, or the need to frequently cancel this game is not a good fit.
  • Team players. If you are familiar with playing to lift or have read Monte Cook's Your Best Game Ever, I highly encourage you to apply.
  • Respectful and inclusive players.

How To Apply:

Fill out this Google form. I know its on the longer side, but its important to intentionally build a table were the players and campaign are all a strong fit.
If you are applying as an existing party of 4-5 players that has a different day and time that works for you, I may have the flexibility to accommodate your group.

2024.06.09 00:15 evolgrdeen Assault rifles are bad designed weapons without niche.

In my opinion, assault rifles are weapons that need rebuilding. This category of weapon is literally functionless: Assault rifles have nothing but problems, with virtually no advantages. A shotgun, rifle or smg will always work better. Sorry for bad english in this textwall.
FIRST PROBLEM Low DPS for this weapon category. Despite the high rate of fire, due to the low damage of all but the adjucator, they inflict low damage and have problems with killing medium-sized bugs or automatons, unless you hit them in the head. Most "good" or considered so weapons in the game have much higher DPS. Low DPS of assault rifles means that shotguns are always a better answer to targets with a large HP pool.
SECOND PROBLEM Low damage per bullet. They cause the need to waste bullets and time when cleaning smaller enemies, make it difficult to kill stronger by hitting weak points, and contribute to the previous, i.e. low DPS. In my opinion, assault rifles have no problem with magazine capacity - this one is adequate. Because it would allow, with the appropriate bullet force, to quickly eliminate targets with a large HP pool with continuous fire, providing a more controlled fire tool for killing those with weak points. It's typical Gamism that an assault rifle in this game almost always deals less damage than a pistol or smg! The biggest casualty here is the Liberator Penetrator with a downright pathetic value of 45 points. Currently, this category of weapons is the worst at killing an enemy if it cannot be eliminated with a headshot. However, all precision rifles are better at this, not to mention the Dominator.
THIRD PROBLEM One of the most serious is the low damage per magazine (DPM) rate. This class of weapon has it so low that only precision rifles and knight smg are comparable. Comparable with the BEST assault rifles in this aspect. Shotguns completely outclass this type of weapon, having this key parameter 2-3 times better. To put it simply, they are 2-3 times better for crowd control or killing tough enemies without easy-to-exploit weak points/when you don't have time to aim, because you have to reload much less frequently. Again, the hopeless liberator penetrator is so weak that the redeemer has a higher DPM than it! The best choice here is a regular liberator, then an adjucator. The low DPM is apparently offset by a larger number of magazines - while most weapons have 6 or 8, assault rifles have 7-10. However, this is an illusion, because these additional magazines mean wasting time on reloading and extending the process of dealing damage. In addition, shotguns usually have a 0.5 second faster reload, SMG's reload is 0.2 faster and only the Dominator has a noticeably longer one, almost 4 seconds. So not only do assault rifels reload slower than automatic shotguns, they also deal less damage per clip!
The result of these three problems is an unsatisfactory feeling when shooting with assault rifles - they kill enemies slowly and cannot cope with groups or stronger opponents/weak spots. They don't do anything well, other classes of weapons are so much better at everything that it's not worth thinking about them.
FOURTH PROBLEM The above problems make the rifles kill poorly at close range. Unfortunately, killing enemies from a distance is not their strong suit. There are two reasons. The first is the existence of precision rifles and their explosive derivatives, which are much better at eliminating enemies from a longer distance while hitting weak points. Again, in long-range combat, sniper rifles and derivatives should be better.
The second is the behavior of opponents in this game. Enemies always try to shorten the distance, weapons do not have clear scopes and maps are too small/constantly foggy to allow you to shoot at targets from a distance greater than 100 meters. Which means that shotguns are almost always within the effective range, and sniper rifles are ultra-accurate at weak points, which gives them instant time-to-kill on enemies like devastators with one click, when an assault rifle needs to fire a burst. And if you can hit weak spots, why would you need an assault rifle instead of a precision rifle or dominator? The lack of enemies that keep their distance and are too fast to be easily hit with sniper rifles means that assault rifles do not have their "favorite" combat distance and target category.
In addition, the form of enemy reinforcements, which discourages firing at enemies from a longer distance, and the ubiquitous fog and rough terrain do not provide many opportunities to use the accuracy of this weapon at distances longer than 50 meters.
Another problem is the design of the enemies. Medium targets either have armor that this weapon category cannot respond outside of the adjucator, or a life pool that is too large to kill quickly due to low overall damage of assault rifles. So at higher levels, the number of medium targets necessitates shotguns or precision rifles. Because you have to deal precise damage to weak points with 1-2 shots or flood the target with pure brutal firepower because it has a lot of HP. Automatic rifles can't do both very well.
FIFTH PROBLEM The fifth problem is how half of the submachine guns available in the game are presented. Two work as they should - rapid-firing weapons with quite high DPS, quite low DPM and low effectiveness at longer distances. Of which, the Redeemer in the pistol category is considered a very good secondary weapon, and the Knight SMG from the Super Citizen Edition is plagued by several problems, which makes it as useless as assault rifles. However, two others have specifications more suited to carbines than smg.
The Defender and Pumeller may not have sky-high DPS, but they have good accuracy, large magazines, good damage per bullet (higher than all assault rifles except one!), the ability to use a shield/carry drives, and the Pummeler makes up for its slightly weaker features with a fantastic stagger. That's why they are much more popular than assault rifles, because they are universal in their parameters and simply work, being somewhere in the middle between power, rate of fire and accuracy, and effective both at close range and at medium distance against bugs and automatons. Looking at the features and what they are supposed to reflect, the Liberator and Defender should have their parameters swapped, because the Defender's features are much more suited to a low-caliber rifle like the Liberator than to the SMG.
SUMMARY OF PROBLEMS Currently, automatic rifles are weapons that fire weak bullets, have low knockdown power and the ability to stagger opponents, with unsatisfactory DPS and DPM that does not allow them to effectively combat numerous or resistant targets, there is a class of weapons that are better as assault rifles than assault rifles themselves, opponents in the game overly reward weapons that are good at close quarters, the design of the maps and the reinforcement system make it difficult to use accuracy combined with the hight fire rite at longer distances.
To this we could add the fact that there are actually only 2 models. That is, liberator and adjucator. Because the liberator variants are terribly weak compared to the regular version, and the tenderizer is practically a copy of it. In addition, the description, size and probably the creators assumptions mean that we have 3 models designed to fill the same high powepenetration niche and only one of them succeeds. So we have weak, boring weapons that are not very fun to use. Instead of a universal weapon, good for killing most small and medium-sized targets, not the best in a given situation, but making up for it with flexibility, we have glorified submachine guns pretending to be assault rifles.
SOLUTIONS Enemy behavior, map design, and gameplay systems are too major a changes to fix a single weapon class. So I will focus on suggestions for fixing assault rifles in the current game environment.
This category of weapon requires much greater bullet power. This should be a class of weapon with a bullet that is weaker than shotguns or precision rifles, but noticeably more powerful than regular pistols and submachine guns. Increasing damage should also result in much better DPS and DPM. At the same time, the number of magazines should be limited to that similar to other categories of weapons. In my opinion, most weapons in the game, apart from submachine guns and secondary weapons, should be designed for 6 magazines and 7 for the basic model. Then we can keep different magazine sizes - from 25 to 45 bullets for given types, to differentiate them by the ability to divide their firepower into smaller fire units. So that models with a smaller capacity aim to better eliminate medium-sized targets at longer distances, and models with a larger capacity perform better at close range and against numerous weak enemies.
In my opinion, the Liberator is currently the only relatively pleasant rifle to use. Easy to control, it has the best-in-class DPM of 2700, the second-best DPS of 640, and the second-lowest recoil of 15. Combine this with a 45-round magazine and you have a weapon that performs reasonably well. However, it has lower DPM than the Defender with 3150, although slightly better DPS, and its bullet is weaker than that of the SMG and the regular pistol.
My proposal is to increase the damage from 60 to 75 per bullet, which in my opinion should be the minimum in this category of weapons and fits the description of this model as low caliber-easy to control rifle. It then receives a DPM of 3375, have a nice equal DPS of 800. I would leave the number of magazines at 7, so that the liberator, just like the basic breaker, would have an advantage in their number over his variants and stronger models. So we have a weapon that is noticeably more dangerous than the Defender, but with greater recoil. Because the Defender, as a smaller SMG, can be used with one hand and gives easier control as a balance to less raw power.
The Liberator penetrator is a terribly weak weapon. It has a extremely low DPM of 1350 due to only 45 bullet damage and a small magazine capacity of 30 bullets. It also gives a weak DPS of 480, but still has relatively low recoil of 19. The only advantage is supposed to be average penetration, but with such low DPM and DPS it cannot be used efectly. The result is one of the worst weapons in the game, poor at killing large groups of weak targets, and due to its low power, even worse at eliminating medium-sized enemies. It could also be criticized for the fact that the much larger version of the weapon has a weaker stopping power.
My proposal is to increase the damage from 45 to 80, while perhaps increasing the recoil. It then receives DPM 2400, DPS 853, I would reduce the number of magazines to 6. So we have a weapon that sacrifices the ease of eliminating numerous targets in favor of greater firepower needed to eliminate medium ones more effectively. Moreover, it is more difficult to use due to its greater recoil.
The Liberator concusive is probably the least pleasant weapon in the game. Its DPM is 1950, which is only 1000 less than the pumeller who does EVERYTHING better. A terribly low DPS of 346.67 due to the fact that this version only has half the fire rate of other Liberator variants. Low magazine capacity, i.e. 30 bullets and bullet damage of 65. In addition, the second highest recoil in the class - 28. The advantage is high stagger and push statistics, but this weapon literally has a problem killing targets stronger than the basic Terminid.
This weapon should be changed so that it fulfills its function, but does not eliminate the purpose of the Pummeler. SMG should be better for close combat and flooding enemies with stagger. So I would leave the L-C with a low rate of fire, but it would increase the bullet's power quite dramatically. You could also give it an area effect or change the carbine category to an explosive weapon.
I have two suggestions. The first is to improve the current version while maintaining a low rate of fire while increasing the damage from 65 to 95. It then receives DPM 2850, DPS 506, the number of magazines would be reduced to 6. So we have a weapon with relatively low DPS and overall damage, but it is used to support others with its push and stagger. However, still having a weapon that can kill something, and not just spray useless bullets.
The second proposal is to turn it into a full-fledged explosive liberator. I would also leave the damage at 95, but increase the fire rate to the level of a regular Liberator and add an explosive effect to hit the sensitive points harder. We then get a weapon with a DPM of 2850, but a DPS of 1013 and greater recoil, making it difficult to use it in continuous fire at longer distances. So we have a liberator that specializes in quickly dealing more damage at close range, with significant recoil and worse ammunition economy, because the total DPM of all magazines is noticeably lower than in a regular liberator.
According to the description and appearance, the Tenderizer is supposed to be the equivalent of the battle rifle from Halo. That is, an assault rifle with high knockdown power, but quickly running out of ammunition. Currently, it has a DPM of 2100, DPS of 600, bullet damage of 60 and the lowest recoil of 10. In addition, it has a magazine of 35 bullets and as many as 10 of them. Drag, push and stagger are exactly the same as the liberator. So we have a Liberator that is easier to control, deals damage slower, but has a bit more bullets distributed over more magazines. The weapon fails as a paid warbond item because it is more similar to the Liberator than its own variants.
My proposed change is to focus on pure damage, making it the highest in weapon class, but without medium penetration. Additionally, the tenderizer is visually much larger than the liberator. So I would increase the damage to 100, while maintaining low recoil, at the price of worse ergonomics than the Liberator - noticeable drag, and reducing the rate of fire to 500 or only burts fire mode. It then receives DPM 3500, DPS 833, number of magazines 6. So we have a powerful carbine capable of quickly eliminating targets at medium distance. With particular emphasis on shooting at weak points, but less flexible for larger groups of enemies. Low recoil and high damage per bullet combine well with burst firing - allowing to accurately eliminate weak points at short and medium distances.
The Adjucator is a problematic weapon because it is a de facto precision rifle that was relegated to another category because it performed poorly in its own category. It has a DPM of 2000, a highest DPS of 733.33, a bullet with a damage 80 and medium penetration, but also the worst recoil 40.
This is where the problem of crowding comes in - repairing the tenderizer and the penetrator liberator causes the adjucator to lose its uniqueness as assault rifle. Because the above two carbines really just want to be adjucators, only faster or less difficult to use. Simply increasing adjucator damage by 20-30 points will make it a better precision rifle than the Diligence/counter-sniper, because it will have enough power to eliminate automatons very efficiently with accurate headshots, while also providing better DPS and close combat ability.
My proposal is to return this weapon to the precision rifle category and slightly rebuild it. So that the diligence should be replaced with adjucator, the counter sniper's statistics should be trasfer to normal deligence, and the Counter sniper should be changed into a sniper rifle with a small bullet capacity, e.g. 10, but a very high single bullet damage of somewhere around 250-300.
If you have read this to the end, thank you for your time. I encourage you to think about improving assault rifles and comment on this post.

2024.06.09 00:10 -Kirida- I calculated the INSANE speed of the MOON ROCKETS:

For the rockets that destroyed the Earth in "Moon":
13,560,000 MPH!
(Thirteen million five hundred sixty thousand!)
I calculated this by taking the time that the rockets were launched to hitting earth, which was 60 seconds, then took the distance from the earth to the moon (the shortest distance period, which I assume was the 'optimum' distance for the plan?), then I got the calculation.
The rockets that destroyed the Moon in "Der Eisendrache":
27,120,000 MPH!
It took 30 seconds for these rockets to hit the moon, assuming the same distance, i.e the shortest distance, they are double as fast as the "Moon" rockets, so I just doubled the number. That's almost 10% the speed of light!
I looked it up randomly and I couldn't find an answer, so I did it myself, so I hope this helps those random people like me with random thoughts like this.

2024.06.08 23:58 East-Letter9478 Does Ayanokoji ever change in the LN?

I've watched all the seasons of CotE, and I liked it, rated it an 8/10, but what I disliked about it is the lack of emotions he shows and how he sees people as tools that he would change when someone else better came.
In the LN does he ever change? Even slightly? Can he even change cause tbh the behavior seems very psychopathic especially the emotionless part.
Some characters in the anime have grown on me very much, especially Kei and Ichinose, I'd dislike it very much for him to hurt them (as he said he would to Ichinose) or just use them to gain information/or as bait like how he does with Kei.
This is a serious question, I am thinking of reading the LN so like please answer truthfully, thanks.

2024.06.08 23:27 AlexDoesntDoThings Cuda out of memory even though I have plenty left

RTX 3090 16gb RAM Win 10
I've had a whole truck load of weird issues trying to use Ooba even though its worked perfectly fine for the longest time, started getting instant loading errors when I try to load anything (silent crashing), and some models would blue screen me with a "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" error. Removed a stick of ram twice, used new ram entirely, used an older gpu and nothing.
Eventually just reset windows and now I can load 13b models and Mixtral 2x11b Strangely I can't run anything above that, I either get bsod with the memory issue or I get something along the lines of the following error:
torch.cuda.OutOfMemoryError: CUDA out of memory. Tried to allocate 1.34 GiB. GPU 0 has a total capacity of 24.00 GiB of which 22.69 GiB is free. Of the allocated memory 26.56 MiB is allocated by PyTorch, and 3.44 MiB is reserved by PyTorch but unallocated. If reserved but unallocated memory is large try setting PYTORCH_CUDA_ALLOC_CONF=expandable_segments:True to avoid fragmentation.
It's been 3-4 days of troubleshooting, I'm certain I can answer any questions you have.
Works even with enough context to fill the 24gb of vram: Mixtral_11Bx2_MoE_19B-GPTQ
worked before but doesn't work anymore: dolphin-2_2-yi-34b-GPTQ bagel-34b-v0.2-GPTQ Nous-Capybara-limarpv3-34B-GPTQ all at 4Q 128g

Weekly Results Recap - Week #23 - June 3rd - June 7th

Happy Saturday, IndieTradersGuild!

Preview Post from Week #22 - May 26th - May 31st: https://www.reddit.com/IndieTradersGuild/comments/1d18pn1/visual_guide_for_week_22_model_range_profiles_may/
Another week of NATH's on SPX makes for some great trading!! The market provided some decent intraday swings this week, allowing members to swing smaller size (Micros) and see good returns.
This was the first week of the June trading month, so the expectation was there would be some rotation under the surface following the EOM flows and rebalancing.
I mentioned last week and will say it again, June tends to see an expansion in realized volatility compared to May's more typical steady flows of volatility (I.e. Sell in May and Walk Away).
June has the highest chance of PVI breaches of any month, so reminder to use proper risk management and never size up without knowing HOW and WHEN to defend a position.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***There are a few acronyms you may need to help you understand this post:
CCS/PCS - Call Credit Spread/Put Credit Spread
CDS/PDS - Call Debit Spread/Put Debit Spread
PVI - Pure Value Index. The name of the trading system/strategies. The PVI High and PVI Low are the strikes that we are aiming to sell throughout the week to capture stable weekly income. These weekly ranges are provided to members on Sunday night.
PWG - Private Wealth Group. The Daily PWG Levels and Weekly PWG Levels are proprietary levels that Vet calculates for personal and institutional use. The levels were coded over into TradingView and are provided to members in the group and are produced automatically at market open (or Globex open for the weekly levels). The PWG Weekly levels are mainly used to identify areas of potential support and resistance, but also as levels to HEDGE against PVI (I.e. Long/Short futures as a hedge to the sold CCS/PCS).
OPM - Option Pricing Model. A proprietary options model used to compare .15 Delta Options and identify which options provide the best return per unit of risk at that given moment.
NATH - New All Time High
VP - Volume Profile
IB - Initial Balance
Also a heads up that some of the discord/trading view images will show times in MST as I'm in Colorado.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weekly Recap (June 3rd - June 7th)

There are 26 Models incorporated into the PVI System. The below bar chart shows the distribution output of those models after their initial iterations. There are 26 model outputs on each side.
The ranges on the upside for this past week were indicating the main cluster of models between 5345-5365 (NATH).
PVI Model Outputs - June 3rd - June 7th
The main cluster on the downside ranges were showing confluence between SPX 5150-5170.
There was a single outlier on both sides this week, both of which represented a roughly 2X EM. Going into the week those levels were of little concern.
The SPX Weekly Straddle expected move for the week was showing 5220-5340
SPX Daily Chart heading into the week of June 3rd - June 7th
Heading into this week the main area I was watching was the upside gap on the daily chart from the prior week (5306). There was heavy confluence with the HVN on the Q2 VP. A close above that level (acceptance) would give me reason to lean bullish for a test of ATH.
My comment last week on Week #22 Review Post
Unfortunately, SPX broke that Daily Gap and made a NATH during the same trading session on Wednesday. So while there wasn't a multi-day setup, the intraday longs got rewarded with a clean trend day on the back on NVDA.
While SPX put in a NATH in 3 consecutive trading days, Wednesday's close of 5354 on SPX is still the all-time closing high on the daily chart.
The Friday price of 5347 was outside the SPX Straddle EM, but well inside the PVI ranges and just inside the initial cluster of 5345-5365.
SPX Daily Chart Results with PVI Model Ranges + VP - June 3rd - June 7th
You'll notice the POC for the Q2 VP has shifted up significantly after this week - moving up 100 pts from ~5200 to ~5300.
SPX left a single gap at 5291 from Tuesday into Wednesday and refilled the daily gap at 5298. But the larger daily gaps are sitting some 200 pts lower at 5140 and 5073.
There were a mix of expectancy for the option premium and volatility this week (Aqua/Orange boxes) - but the PVI ranges finished a clean 36-0 on the week!
PVI Range Results for Week #23 - 36-0

Market Divergence

As SPX makes NATH after NATH, we are also seeing some divergence in the larger market.
I wanted to include the chart below in the analysis - you can see a comparison SPX/QQQ/RSP, as well as the % of stocks ABOVE their 50-Day SMA and ABOVE their 200-Day SMA.
While SPX and QQQ are making NATH, the equal weighted S&P ETF (RSP) has been making lower swing highs at the same time.
You'll also notice that while there was some broadening of the strength from the lows in April, there were FEWER stocks above their 50/200 Day SMA's into this most recent ATH move.
This does make some sense with the weighting of NVDA being so large and the impact that a handful of stocks have on the larger market. Important to note that while one stock can carry the markets for a certain amount of time, the weakening breadth will eventually be more powerful.
Comparing Daily Charts - SPX, QQQ, RSP - 50/200 Day SMA closing %

Weekly Results (June 3rd - June 7th)

I have included the PVI strikes on the charts. These are the "Final" levels that get populated on the PVI spreadsheet and what members/institutions will use to set their short strike at or outside for their credit spread (see the above table for the full list of PVI levels for the past week).
The PWG weekly levels (seen below) are generated on Sunday night in Trading view for ITG members. You will heasee Vet refer to "The Box" - which is the zone between the Weekly Supply level (R1) and Weekly Demand level (S1).
Ideally, above the box we have a bias to look for areas of support to buy - below the box we look for areas of resistance to then short

SPX breached the Weekly Demand on Monday during the retracement of the move made during the JPM Collar Roll.
NQ also had a perfect retracement of its move, bouncing at the .618 fib on Monday before moving higher into the week.
NQ 4 HR Chart - Fib retracement from May 31st low - June 3rd overnight high
Price reverted back towards the Weekly S/D box Monday afternoon and never dropped back below. It remained rangebound until the gap up on Wednesday.
Again, SPX had 3 days making a NATH intraday, but price never tested above Weekly Buy Target 2. Reminder that we ideally look for Weekly S3 or Weekly R3 as a peel points for a larger weekly trend move.
SPX 5-Minute Chart - Showing daily price action in relation to Daily PWG Levels. Purple Line = Weekly VWAP
You should notice how the Weekly VWAP was slopping up this week - indicative of an up trend. This week was also the start of a new month, so the Weekly and the Monthly VP's were roughly identical this week (excluding minor differences based on the candle source).

DAILY BREAKDOWN

Monday, June 3rd:
Sunday night futures were positive into the pre-market on Monday. However, the opening 15 minute candle marked the high for the AM session as price retraced the move made from the JPM Collar roll on the prior trading session.
There were also issues with the NYSE Data Feed on Monday morning. Companies such as Berkshire Hathaway and Chipotle saw their stocks drop 90%+ in seconds due to the errors.
VIX got up to nearly 10% intraday, which for some in ITG is a great opportunity to sell volatility (collect premium). There were a few members who sold puts near the LOD for a decent profit.
The afternoon session was positive, as price moved back towards VWAP and filled out the volume profile to squeeze above POC into the close.
Monday 5-minute SPX Chart with Daily PWG Levels + VWAP & WVWAP + VP
Tuesday, June 4th:
Tuesday was a range bound session, including an afternoon sweep of overnight highs and then subsequent rejection, and finishing above the VAH on the day.

However, the bigger news was the Indian Presidential elections that took place.
India's major Stock Exchange Index, Nifty50, dropped nearly 6% in one day on the back of the election results, wiping out all the YTD returns.
Nifty50 Daily Chart - Reaction to Presidential Elections
Wednesday, June 5th:
The overnight session was relatively flat, but the pre-market session lifted SPX into the open. The opening drive was down as it refilled some of the gap, before putting in a reversal during the IB during the ISM data release.
The main catalyst on Wednesday was NVDA rocketing and breaching the 1200 level into the afternoon ranges.
This was the day SPX broke above the 5306 level I had been watching for, and once price got back above 5306 during the IB, it never returned to retest it.
SPX ended up closing at the highs of the session after a grind up day on the indexes.
Wednesday 5-minute SPX Chart with Daily PWG Levels + VWAP & WVWAP + VP
Thursday, June 6th:
The markets took a day to cool off after the push on Wednesday. Overnight session was relatively flat as SPX had a minor gap at the open.
ES put in an early session high before retracing a small portion of the Wednesday impulse candles. Most of the afternoon session was a chop fest as participants prepared for the NFP data drop on Friday morning.
Thursday 5-minute SPX Chart with Daily PWG Levels + VWAP & WVWAP + VP
Friday, June 7th:
The overnight session remained rangebound in preperation for NFP released. Both ES and NQ had initial impulses higher, but as is typically the case the initial move is a fake-out with limited liquidity and algorithms firing rapidly.
SPX opened with a gap down and promptly went to refill that gap during the opening drive. Even with NVDA running again, SPX/ES were still the stronger index and went out to make subsequent NATH's 3 times during the Friday intraday session
The final intraday ATH was put in right at 1PM EST, just as institutions are coming back from lunch. There were a few indications that a potential selloff into the PM was likely...

RECAP

I mentioned 2 weeks ago that I was starting to build a downside position in 1-3 month options.
I added slightly to that core position this week, and added an additional SPY Put position for the June OPEX as well as a July PDS for 5250/5200.

I am still in the belief that the higher risk for June/July is downside moves to repair demand structure rather than continued chop with a slow bleed up making NATH after NATH.
That's all for this week's recap though!!!
Vet will be hosting a workshop on Youtube for ITG Members on Sunday night, so I will leave the preview portion of PVI for him to walk through.
Reminder after this week that fading NATH is never ideal - wait until the trend changes and you get confirmation before going all in trying to time the top. Build a position, have an exit strategy, and stick to risk management.

2024.06.08 23:10 eucalyptusfarmer Seriously struggling with MIL.

I’ve made a post on here before, but it was deleted as it wasn’t solely MIL related (mentioned some ILs). So this is my first official, hopefully not deleted, post. Being vague as this is my backup account, and I don’t want my ILs finding it.
I’m very pregnant, 40 weeks. MIL has one single child, my partner, and had a c-section because of his size (this is relevant, I swear). She has always said he was a big baby, even before I got pregnant. She loves to tell her birth horror story. Ever since we announced the pregnancy, she has been much worse. She inserts the same comments about birth constantly and it is just so annoying. It feels like she is trying to scare me or intimidate me.
Later this week we have an induction scheduled and I swear the comments/questions have just been getting worse. It’s just becoming too much to deal with. I truly don’t want a c-section, for no other reason than the fact that I just don’t like the idea of it for me personally. All mothers are mothers regardless of how they give birth. But for me, it is only an option if there’s a medical emergency. I am aware that if it comes down to an emergency, I absolutely will need to have one, and I am okay with that and have came to terms with that. One of my main reasons being I have SH scars, they are very prominent and I strongly dislike them (MIL has made comments about these, too) and I do not want more scars. Yes, I know they’re different. No, I don’t care that they are different. I have other reasons, like the healing process scares me and I just get a lot of anxiety thinking about the whole process. There’s other reasons but I won’t get into it further for the sake of length of this post.
With the induction coming up, my MIL keeps asking me a range of questions & comments like, “are you nervous?”, “you know, they could make you get a c-section,” “its easier to have a c-section than push,” talking about the stitches, comments about the heal time and how it’ll be longer healing than pushing (i.e. “c-sections take a few weeks to heal and you won’t want to do anything!”, “you’ll be wearing diapers for weeks regardless!”,) how partner’s head was just so big and your pelvis doesn’t “stretch” like that. it’s comments/questions like that every. single. day. She says those same comments and questions, seriously, EVERY single day. I have tried SO hard to not be a bitch, and beat around the bush (will explain why), by saying things like “I don’t want to think about that.”. I’ve told her “my doctor said baby’s fine for her size and weight, I should be able to just push” and “I really just don’t want a c-section, I want to push”. But she almost is trying to pressure me into a c-section, or make me feel that pushing isn’t an option. Before, she would say I probably won’t be able to push, because of how big my partner was. I told her it doesn’t always work like that. I was a small baby, and my mom birthed 5 times, all easy births and only 1 was a c-section (multiples). Who’s to say it wouldn’t be more like my mom’s? Like a birthing experience isn’t hereditary, the way kids inherit traits from their parents.
I beat around the bush because we live with her at the moment, in her house, and I do not want to create hostility. When I bring this up to my partner, it always causes an argument. Never fails. He asks me why I don’t just “tell her to shut up,” (she’s not my mom?) and asks me why I won’t just talk to her. The thing is, I do. I really do try. She just only listens to her son (more than me, but she is a narcissist so that still isn’t by much) and herself. He says he doesn’t want to say anything to her because it will put me on the spot, if I don’t say something. It’ll be apparent that I told him. He wants to wait until it is said around him. But the thing is, she knows better than that and has admitted to that. She will be the first to say he’s a private person, so she doesn’t make those comments. He’s told her to shut up on his own, too. And again, she listens to him. Not me. At times in the past where I have talked about it, he’s jumped to his family’s defense, and it’s made me just want to avoid it altogether. He has apologized for this, but I don’t know, I really am not certain it won’t happen again. He doesn’t like when I bring this stuff up because it’s “her house”, and I need to stop “being uncomfortable by words”. “We will be out of here soon,” he says.
I just want to vent, because I feel like I’m just at my wits end. Like I mentioned, she has a tendency to not listen to anything that comes out of my mouth. If I say something, discuss boundaries, whatever — she will do what she wants anyway. Sometimes I end up struggling to sleep due to anxiety about my baby being born, solely because of her boundary pushing baby rabies. Not to mention, she also very weird with her son. All of her seeking compliments from him, and crying when the topic of moving comes up. She says this is because she just wants to be around “her grandbaby,” and that she “keeps herself up at night” struggling with anxiousness and overthinking about my baby. But the way she is with her son just tells me maybe it’s that, too, but it’s also her attachment to my partner. She calls him sometimes more than 4-5 times a day (again, we live with her) just to talk for a few minutes about herself and ask how he’d doing/where he is/what he is doing. If he doesn’t answer, she questions me about what he’s doing, and asking why he didn’t answer her. Earlier today after the interrogation shit she does daily (the reason I made this post), she just randomly said “and no sex for 6 weeks! i bet [partner’s name] is pissed about that huh” like what? why are you including yourself in your son’s sex life?
Anyway, all this to say it’s just so frustrating. I’m so tired of this. She seriously loves to push boundaries and limits and I’m anxious all the time because of it. I feel trapped in our bedroom. I honestly worry that I’m going to struggle to bond with my baby because she’s going to push boundaries and continue to stress me out. It’s worth mentioning that my partner does want to move out. To sum it up, he has a horrible past with her that causes him trauma and he doesn’t like being here. I think this is why he can be so brainwashed by her (i.e. defending her and his family one minute, but then talking about cutting her off the next and how this behavior bothers him). I think he’s still trying to get out from under her grip. But before, he refused to move. But now, he says he wants to go out and look (right now we’re just browsing online) towards the end of his paternity leave. I’m hoping this is true, but there has been times where he “wanted to move” and “found this place”, only to go back on it. I don’t have another option, housing wise, neither does he at the moment.

2024.06.08 23:08 ymaryia I think I'm in trouble

This story is not mine, it is based off what a friend told me and she needs advice, however, I will be writing in the 1st person perspective.
I, 16F, have an older sister named Lucinda, 25F. Lucinda has a BF, Harlton, 37M. Growing up, I had a pretty good childhood between the ages of 0 - 9, but then when I woke up to my dad screwing another woman in our living room, the area when you open the front door, (it's the first thing you see) I knew the rest of my life would be shambolic. My dad and mom never divorced, but they argued a lot, even after my mom found out. In turn, my mom started smoking dope and acquired a gambling addiction, whereby she got berated by my dad for gambling on their 9 Carat Engagement ring.
As I grew up, I noticed that this was not normal, and soon enough lost the parental relationship between my parents. In spite of this, Lucinda stepped in as mother to me, despite her not having any parental figures whatsoever. The age gap between her and I was considerably a lot, so it really took me nothing to call her my mom. I love my sister, and she works so hard to support me and herself. Not too long ago( I can't remember when) she got a scholarship to a college that she had been working her butt off to get into, and I was extremely happy for her. However, while this was happening, I began to struggle throughout the end of middle school, and soon enough, started smoking weed. Lucinda doesn't know of this yet, but she does know I have a spot that I go to late at night when our parents are screaming at each other. I called Lucinda 2 times a week when she had left the house at 16 to try and figure out who she was. When I entered HS, I called her everyday before and after school, even if was short calls or when she couldn't answer, voicemails of me rambling about whatever I could remember about my day. When Lucinda was 19, she met Harlton. Harlton had met her through the process of Lucinda looking for jobs. According to Lucinda, he was a gentleman, and 'love blossomed' Fortunately for Lucinda who was basically homeless at the time, she started living with Harlton, but described her time before getting romantic with him as: fascinating. Of course, when she would rant me about things like this, I was too young to understand, but mature enough to follow. When I met Harlton, he and Lucinda had already started dating. I used to think of them as the big happy family I never really had, and looked up to Harlton as a father figure. He was neat, kind and really sporty, and whenever he and Lucinda came to visit, they would look like a picture perfect old married couple. However, from the ages of 10 - 14, I rarely saw them, but mainly spoke to them (especially Lucinda of course) over the phone. I went through a lot of development and mental health issues, and unfortunately started smoking at 14. The next time that Lucinda and Harlton saw me, they were surprised. Of course, puberty exists, but the way I developed was far more than the way Lucinda did than when she was my age. Lucinda liked my new look, and Harlton too. Unfortunately at this time too, my father started to berate me for 'acting like a needy whore' whenever I would suggest we go out together or play games together. When I asked my mom to help me out with my period for the first time, she complied, and ran me through the signs talk. When I told my mom about the first crush I ever had in school, she would call me butchy and ask me if I had been using plan B's. My father found our somehow, and as a result of this, I was kicked out three months before my 15th birthday, for being a slutty whore who 'jerks off any man's son' I called Lucinda, and she welcomed me into her home with loving arms Harlton welcomed me in too, and the both of them helped me mentally and physically, so that I was in a state if calmness When I started to look for a job at 15, Harlton suggested I should work at his friends dealership for an extra buck, and I told him I know nothing about cars, and he said he would teach me. Through this period of time, it would result in him randomly coming up to me shirtless and saying:"let's go learn" or "oh I forgot to tell you something about this" Nothing out of the ordinary, as he would walk around the house with just his boxers a lot of the time. Meanwhile while he was teaching me, I had found this great job as a receptionist at a sports centre place, and landed it. When I had told him, he got all stern dark and pissy at me and said stuff like:" after all I've done for you, this is how you treat me? You really are ungrateful." I was confused, and when he told Lucinda, expecting her to talk me out of the job, he got even angrier when she supported me and went to go and take me shopping to buy some cute: 'office siren' clothes. Harlton didn't speak to us for about a week and a half, and then everything went back to normal. When I had got this job, the pay I was receiving was pretty good, so I started to spend money on myself and get myself tutoring sessions, clothes, makeup and a bunch of other stuff. Harlton didn't like this, and he demanded that I split half my wages with him, as well as make me keep my bedroom door open at all times. I did so, and listened to him, but because my bathroom is also connected to my bedroom, whenever I got annotated with the rule, I would lock myself in my bathroom with a blanket and pillow and watch on my phone, just for the feeling of privacy. Harlton didn't like this, and threatened to take the lock off my bathroom off if I: 'hid from him' again. A boy at my sports centre place would chat to me every afternoon and ask me general questions, and ask me if I could go go any play area place, what would it be? I would respond, Chuck E Cheese ballpit area place, and we would continue the conversation until it was time for him to start his workout in the gym section of the sports centre. I told Lucinda about this, and she told me she was happy for me and to be careful. Oe day, Harston offered to drive me to work, rather than me taking the bus and walking for 45 minutes. I accepted the offer happily. I would try and enter the backseat behind the driver, and he would insist I sit in the front next to him. The whole ride he would push and ask questions like: "Is there anyone you're interested in at school?" And would always say 'you can tell me'. Because I hadn't really had any one on one conversations properly with him, I would only say vague things like: ' nah I'm too focused on school right now' or ' I'm not looking for a relationship at the moment'. He would respond saying: ' don't hide from me I know there's someone' and to avoid anymore questions I would switch over the topic to Lucinda. Harlton would then reveal to me that he is planning to propose to Lucinda, and for some reason I would feel my heart drop from hearing that, like if it was my gut trying to tell me something. I faked a smile and was happy for him, and then tell him that this is my stop 15 minutes before my workplace, so that he doesn't actually find out specifically where I work. (I'm not sure why I did this, but I'm glad I did.)
Fast forward, and I'm 16, I've been working at my job for a while, and I find out that the boy that I've been talking to, Miguel, goes to my school, and his parents sponsor many of our school sports events. He asked me one afternoon, if he could get to know me more out of work, and I said yes. One day, I would see Harlton waiting in his car for me right outside my workplace. When I open the passenger car door, he asked who that boy I was talking to was. I replied, a school mate, and he would raise his voice and demand him that i tell the truth, and I revealed that I've been talking to him for a whole now, and that he was gonna take me out on a dare outside work. He completely blew up at me, calling me a whore and a prostitute, and screaming that I lied to him. That day, he sped off and told me I can make it home by myself. When I came home, I arrived to him taking the door off my bedroom and him taking the lock off my bathroom. To be honest, I didn't really mind as much as I should've, and that pissed him off again so much that he said he wanted to go through the phone that I bought with my own money. I said no, and when he wanted to get angry with me again, thankfully Lucinda stepped in and told him to take a shower while she prepares food for him..I thanked Lucinda and gave her a hug, to which she hugged me back and winced. Fast forward to last week, last night on a Saturday,(after finding out that he somehow installed an Airtag inside my phonecase, I told Lucinda, and she said I should leave it there for my own safety, but by this point i was already pissed off at how controlling Harlton was so i removed it and put it in the sole of his own shoe ) to go for a walk for a little smoke break. Not even 10 minutes after I've left, I recieved exactly 32 missed calls and 99+ messages from Harlton asking where I am, and where did I go. When I finally answered, he called me a bunch of rude misogynistic words that I can't even think of typing, and demanded I turn on my location so that he come and pick me up. How would he have known I wasn't home unless he came into my room. At 10PM at night. I told him I would be home in an hour and he should chill out, and he said I should turn on my location or else I would regret it. I ended the call and quickly called my now boyfriend Miguel, with my hands shaking, I explained everything that's been happening and what the current situation was. He said nothing but ' Send me your location' with a love heart. I sent it to him and he said calmed me down over the phone and told me he would be there in 15 minutes. I was relieved until I saw the headlights of Harlton's car. I saw him He saw me He started chasing after me, screaming at me fo come back. And I all I could do was run Run. Don't stop. By the time it had been five minutes, I was slowing down and he was catching up. I screamed when he pulled me back by my hair onto the muddy grass floor and he told me that I can never escape him, and he told me, 'do you know who you are to me?' He placed a tight grasp on both my arms and tried pulling down my hello kitty pajama pants (which now had to get rehashed after I just washed them) I was frozen in shock according to Miguel, who had heard Harlton shouting and my screaming, and pushed Harlton off me and took me to his car. I remember Miguel lying ne down in the backseat of his car with a blanket and a packet of chips telling me its going to be okay.
Miguel's parents welcomed me ever so lovely into their home without know the situation, and when Miguel explained what happened, they said I cab stay in the guest room and live with them for as long as I need.
Lucinda's phone called me, and I picked up. Harlton was on the other line saying how I'm going to regret this, and how he's going to get me back from my little 'boytoy' and show me what a real man is like. I ended the call, and called back in the morning to Lucinda. Thankfully, Lucinda picked up, and the first thing she told me was that she was in a hotel. When I asked her what happened, Lucinda explained that Harlton was shouting and cursing at me so loudly on the phone that it woke her up, and when he opened her phone to call me, he saw the male contact of her boss at work and woke her up fully enough to start verbally abusing her. She said that when he finally put her to sleep, he packed a small amount and went to hotel, and called our parents to let them know that Lucinda and I would be coming back soon because we have nowhere else to go. Surprisingly, they complied and they paid for Lucinda's hotel night and they asked for my contact information, after I cut all contact with them after my dad kicked me out. I explained to Lucinda who I was staying with and she was relieved.
Fast forward to today, we met up at Miguel's House, and talked. She said she was planning to leave Harlton, just after he called her and begged her to come home, saying that he bought an engagement ring to make it official that she's truly his.

2024.06.08 23:04 Freedomfighter5DN1 What can I do to salvage the situation?

It’s a long story, please bear with as I would really like advice. My partner (27, dismissive avoidant) and I (29, anxious) had been through a roller coaster the last 3 years -
For the first two years, he didn’t know what he wanted, was at a really stressful job, kept going back and forth, always chose other things before me, did a lot of damages to us (e.g. ghosting, gaslighting). I was constantly crying and feeling anxious. We had a a 5-6 months break and reconnected the end of last year.
Since we reconnected (the last 6 months), things have really changed 180 degrees. He was a lot more consistent, most of the time it didn’t trigger my anxious attachment style, we would call almost everyday even if it’s just 10-15 mins to catch up on our day. We saw each other a healthy amount of time (1-3 times a week, whereas in the first two years it was almost once every two weeks or less), we had been on a weekend away etc. I thought: things are finally going the right direction. It just felt natural.
We had booked a holiday abroad for August but a few weeks ago, he told me his new job had offered him to go to a work conference for a few days which meant he would have to miss the first few days of our trip and he wanted to hear what I thought. Due to our history, I immediately thought “again, he’s choosing something else over me/us” and got really angry. Words were thrown in that argument from both sides and I hung up on him when he called me a narcissist. A few days later, we made up but we never thoroughly talked about it as I was in the middle of exams.
Two weeks ago, he told me that he’d booked his flights and sent resort suggestions. I got angry again (I guess we never talked about the problem). I told him I was still angry etc. He sent a message saying hope I’d understand as he really wanted to do well in his new job and wanted to go to this work conference. But all I could think of at the time was how angry I was, that was meant to be our time away. I tried calling him as I wanted to talk things out but he refused to answer and said he didn’t want me to ruin his Sunday and let’s talk tomorrow. He also said he didn’t want to be a therapist to me whenever I was down/angry. It immediately triggered me as he used to avoid me during conflicts. So the last two weeks, it felt like there was less communication from him as he was moving house, Went on holiday and I had two really important exams last week. We never spoke about the argument as it was too stressful for me.
Yesterday, we had planned to meet up to celebrate the end of my exams. I called him and asked what the plan was (before the phone call he was suggesting places to go etc.), but very quickly he became very annoyed and said that phone call had put him in a really bad mood. He was picking on small (invalid) things to say we were such different individuals. The conversation took a turn and he said he’d been weighing what he wanted and he still doesn’t know. He asked whether I was an unhappy person and that it’s made him quite unhappy too. He said he felt like he’s not in the place to offer what I wanted and I deserved someone who could be there for me whenever I needed them to be. He said he can’t pinpoint what it is but he’s not as happy as he wanted himself to be in a relationship, and there’s something lacking in out emotional connection. I said how did things go from how they were two weeks ago to now, and he said he doesn’t know. We are not right for each other etc. He’d done enough damage to us in the first two years. He went from saying he hasn’t decided what he wanted yet, to forget about him / he won’t bother me again and burn all our photos, to give it a few days for the dust to settle and don’t block him. We were both crying on the phone the whole time.
Initially I thought that’s his dismissive avoidant attachment style acting up again, as he’s said the exact same things to me before. But after talking to a friend, I realised how selfish I’d been in the last few months. I was so focused on not wanting to get hurt again, that he had to prove himself after hurting me so much the last two years and so I barely put in any effort. HE was the one who put in all the effort, always the one apologising after every arguments the last few months. I never thought from his perspective in arguments and was always so focused on how he was hurting me and he should be the one to fix it. Every little trigger I would bring up how horrible he was to me in the past. I realised how selfish I was.
It’s eating me up, I feel horrible and I really miss him. I want to change, and do more for him. He was super nice to me the last few months and I want to do the same for him. Any thoughts on what I could do now?

2024.06.08 23:00 skittleslover___ 1 month of Lupron and 2 months of cyproterone acetate and seeing a tiny bit of feminization..? (transfem)

yeag (only posting because I can't find a concrete answer online that isn't behind a paywall)
before I was on either (switched from lupron to cpa because lupron fucked my mental state up) I saw a bit of feminization but it stopped pretty quickly
and now it's back with more effects (fat redistribution, chest growth, being cold 24/7, improved mood) and is more consistent/slow (not complaining) - has anyone else experienced this or are my genetics just really good?
also is this the right place for asking about HRT related stuff? sorry if it's not 😭
fuck forgot to mention that I'm on 25mg daily in the title (and the lupron was 3.75mg) and that I'm not on E yet

2024.06.08 22:52 MicrowaveDave24 I accepted it. And it is ok.

(Please imagine a beautiful picture of a sunset here, I can’t add t because my account is very young)
I accepted it. It just IS
Love y‘all. I had so much hate ln God. Gave him everything. He punched my heart. I seeked him so much- Nothing. Jeremaia 29 12-14 is not true for me. So much belivers I am terrible pain, so much suicides, even if God provides that he will give our thoughts even if God provides that he will give our souls what they really need what they really need. The promised that he created us perfectly, but I see children coming on earth with bone cancer and terrible pain. No one could ever explain to me and that’s OK. People are so bad in general, they are monsters. I wanted to live with God and after all what I went through, I just asked him for a life and a family. I never wanted money. I never asked for anything apart from love. And I also asked for a clear sign that God is there for me. This world is full of atheism, and I didn’t want to be a part of this. I want to be a child of God and live in his presence. I wanted to know if I die. He will be there for me. I see This world is full of atheism, and I didn’t want to be a part of this. I want to be a child of God and live in his presence. I know that if I die, he will be there for me. I seeked him with all my heart. I read so much testimonies and near death experiences. I wanted to understand everything nothing. Never an answer never a feeling of love from God. So there are two opportunities left which we sel so there are two opportunities left which result in the same thing. God is not what we think and the Bible is not true , or not like that- and God want help us here on earth Second thing is that there is maybe no God so all those people telling me to shut up with god where true. If you see the facts and the opening questions that would be the easiest thing. Reality Shows that there is no God.
Whatever, at the end of the day, I am all alone and not even God is there for me. I will die from my broken heart or from whatever you know what I’m saying. So they are sold so could do so much in this world and are so loving, but their purpose is to die, to suffer.
Of course, that makes me very distant for god because that’s a lie that he loves us. Maybe there’s really a Satan. But if God is not able to protect me from him, even if I trust him and not Satan then what is God? Not powerful ?
However, I just finished my belief . Like thousand times before I spoke so often and out of my heart. But it’s OK. I accept it. It was just such a great situation to look in the sunset on the mountain and speak my last prayer . I was very naïve. Why should I be one of those who seem to have a real testimony while they are so much who are suffering terribly?
It makes me so sad . After speaking for almost 10 minutes I didn’t feel a thing. I felt that my prayer didn’t end on God. Even if i was on my knees. So people don’t make the big mistake I did . if you lost everything in life, go to God and think that he is there for you maybe he is but the chance that you are one of his chosen (testimonies) is very low. From a quote that powerful I would have expected at least assign that he is there may be a tree or whatever . If he knows it’s my soul like he tells me he knows that I am skeptical. I apologized e so often for that.
Bless you !!!

2024.06.08 22:45 Przeglo Bike commuters are happier/more satisfied, but so are people who get to their jobs faster. Is it the drive/ride duration or the bicycle that matters more?

I've recently got into a discussion with someone, who gets to their job by either, a car, or an e-scooter. We've been talking about some studies, and they claimed that people, who walk and cycle live closer to their jobs, and therefore get there faster. He argued that it's not the means of transportation that you pick to get to the job, but the time required to get there that matters for overall happiness.
There are studies which confirm, that people who cycle to their jobs are happier in general, but there are also studies, which confirm that people, who have shorter commute time are happier as well, with some articles claiming that adding 20 minutes to your commute is as bad as getting 19% pay cut.
Also, to clarify a couple of things:
  1. It's not distance we're talking about, but end-to-end time only, including parking.
  2. We're only interested in commuting, not leisure driving/cycling.
  3. We do not include any health benefits here, or other kinds of phenomena that are claimed to make you happier. Only declared/measured differently satisfaction or happiness I am interested in. In other words, on-topic statistical data, rather than some slogans about my endorphin levels rising or bones hardening. Don't get me wrong, these may or may not have some influence, but it must have its reflection in measured happiness/satisfaction. Otherwise, it's kind of irrelevant for this discussion.
Also, to give you some context: they (my discussion partner) claimed that cyclists/walking commuters are happier, because they live nearby their working place. They said, that people who live nearby [their workplace] have more of a choice between cycling and going by car, and on short distances both are fast. On the other hand, people who live farther away have less choice, but to rely on a car, and their are the less happy ones, because of an outside factor being commute time, not the vehicle type itself. To put it differently: set of cyclists consists mostly of people going short distances, but set of drivers consists both of people going short and long distances, with emphasis on the second group. Presumably, that is. Oh, and an implicit assumption was made here that time is approximated by distance times some vehicle-dependent coefficient, which is fair I guess.
tl;dr he claimed that cyclists are happier than drivers, but it's only a correlation not a causality relation, and putting the words "because their cycle" is unjustified given the evidence that we have(i.e. it might be, but we don't know). This implies that headlines quoting these studies and calling us to ditch car in favor of bicycle are unjustified, to put it lightly.
Then it got a bit political, as he claimed that promoting bicycles is a way of screwing over poorer people, especially younger ones, who are not able/willing to pay for older, smaller, more expensive, and worse housing next to or in the city center. It turns out, that it is the case in the city, where I live. That is, the more expensive part, not necessarily the screwing part. To understand his case, you have to calculate the fact that the time gap between bicycle and car grows, as the distance between start and end points grows, with cars obviously getting relatively faster. Also, if there is no cycling infrastructure on the way, then car is almost always faster even for short distances in rush hours. Nonetheless this whole paragraph is out of scope of this post, so just ignore it :P
To sum it up, my #1 question is: Do you know any studies, which focus on that issue: whether it's a vehicle type or total commute time, that makes people happier? Or is it something else, like some mix of these two variables, which presumably is the most plausible option? Or maybe cyclists are fancy people earning more money, and this is what makes them happy, and they are only attributing that to bicycle? Just speculating.
In other words: Will switching to bike change how happy I am? If I am screwed, and live far away from my job, should I cycle there, even if it would lengthen my commute? And if I only have a couple of kilometers to go, does it even make any difference? Happiness-wise that is.
I've been thinking about it, and these issues invalidate many other things like congestion. It may be not as annoying, if you know that you will get to the destination as fast as on a bicycle, especially when it happens to rain horizontally, or it's really hot outside, and you have AC.
I also know that it may be a wrong subreddit to ask that question and get unbiased responses, but I'd like to know your experiences: is going by bicycle or end-to-end (like including parking and walking) commuting time more important for you? With emphasis on picking only one of these, if you had to. Do you have any comparison, like you own both a car and a bicycle and have a reliable choice between picking either of these vehicles each day?
Answers to these questions is vital in assessing another issue, which is out of scope of this post: Is switching to bicycle a sad necessity impairing long distance trips especially in bad weather conditions, and, like a lot of policies, mostly affecting the working class/lower middle class, or should we enjoy the fact that the overall politics in the western world (especially EU) generally tends to slowly force encourage masses to cycle and walk at the expense of driving?
