2024.06.05 16:03 lilpo32 My door latch cable from hell

My door latch cable from hell
Vehicle in question is a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500
I've taken apart the driver side door panel probably a dozen times in the last few months. Partly for different reasons (actuator, exterior handle) but mostly for the inner handle cable. The plastic anchor flaps give out pretty quickly so I try my best to be gentle with them, I've gotten creative with zipties to keep them in place.
The main problem I've been experiencing is the bead that hooks in to the actuator keeps coming loose.... there's a metal V groove that the bead / cable is supposed to sit in. Well, there's no kind of clip or anything to keep that bead from lifting up out of the V groove. I've tried duct tape, pinning the slack on the cable, and of course, zip ties. It'll usually work about 6-7 times and then it pops right back out.
Attached photo shows the area I'm talking about. Wondering if there's something obvious I'm missing or if there's a Pro tip / trick that I can use.
Any and all advice is much appreciated.
Thank you!

2024.06.05 05:28 Saramello Speculation: What if Fallout Frost had the same premise (dark aftermath) of Fallout Dust.

I'm bored and a tad drunk so here goes:
If FO:D was the Courier doing everything evil combined with murphy's law, instead of a prequel FO:F is, I bring to you the fanfiction lore for Fallout: Fog.
The Sole Survivor essentially rushed the minutemen ending. He wipes out the Institute, Brotherhood, and Railroad. He attempts to leverage his position as "General" like that of the US army he was a part of, but gets massive pushback from everyone including Preston, which only further intensifies as he begins punishing insubordination as they did in the US Army before the Bombs (execution). Especially after he betrayed everyone to become Overboss and subjugate the commonwealth.
On top of this he does not provide actual help to other settlements beyond taking care of their initial problem, forcing them to join the minutemen for “protection” and then demanding constant supply-line tribute back to Sanctuary while never actually returning to the settlements to help with attacks, only to extract resources from late deliveries.
Preston leaks the fact the SS left their own synth son at the institute, making all undercover railroad agents and synth settlers treat the SS as a monster. Likewise the remaining brotherhood in the Capital Wasteland began rapidly rebuilding and re-recruiting to send a new strike force to the commonwealth.
The Sole Survivor is eventually driven into hiding after a never-ending number of asasination attempts by the BOS, Railroad Remnants, and even the Minutemen. He is not in Sanctuary when the brotherhood attacks. Having previously re-activated an unfinished Liberty Prime and supplementing the power supply with excessive fusion cores, the communist killer leads a brotherhood assault on Sanctuary, leaving it a wreck and killing most minutemen. Garvey dies in the attack, but a final laser musket shot to an exposed wire in Liberty Prime causes a short-circuit in targeting parameters, listing all life-forms under “communist.” Turning on the celebrating brotherhood, Prime ensures almost no survivors fled from Sanctuary.
On top of all this the Cambridge Crater’s radioactivity is going off the charts, with nearby settlements becoming deserted and/or overrun by ghouls. A mix of radiation and irradiated FEV leaks from the Crater into the Charles river, which when combined with a strange approaching mist from the north (Far Harbor Children of Atom ending) all mixes to contaminate most water supplies beyond the use of water filters, and slowly killing or transforming people into horrible mutants. With the minutemen, the SS, or Garvey, settlements are isolated, either dying out or fleeing from the radiation/fog/FEV cocktail or the creatures that emerge from it.
The USS Liberty locates the Chinese sub and crashes directly into it, resulting in the nuclear submarine exploding, causing massive irradiated floods inland, hitting the glowing sea, with the receding tsunami dragging thousands of tons of thoroughly irradiated soil back all across the commonwealth and further mixing into the hellscape.
Mechanist DLC: With the Mechanist dead and no organized minutemen, there is no one stopping the hordes of robots roaming the wasteland. And unfortunately for everyone their priority to “save” humanity (by killing them) means they will ignore most other lifeforms unless directly attacked, meaning no help against other creatures.
Far Harbour: Glory to Atom. Everything is Fog. Atom’s fog embraces the island. Atom’s guardians emerge to purge the non-believers. Then Atom’s guardians purge the believers. Nothing remains but Atom’s purest and most beloved lifeforms. And the fog is spreading, soon the entire East Coast will feel Atom’s embrace.
Vault 88: The SS left the Ghoul Overseer in-charge after completing all experiments in the most vault-tec approved way possible. Vault 88 is now overcrowded with desperate refugees willing to do anything to stay and not be banished into the mists. The Overseer has found banishing the least productive dweller weekly leads to even higher production numbers!
Nuka World: The final log of Porter Gauge ends with: “Maybe Coulter had the right idea.” It’s bad. The Disciples and Pack, flush with territory and emboldened by their slaughter of the Operators, has caused Nuka World to descend into a gang war. In the chaos multiple park attractions were damaged, or worse, accidentally reactivated or improved. The Disciples tried to program sadism into the Nuka-Galaxy robots to supplement their numbers…it worked too well. In Kiddie Kingdom the radiation pumps were accidently switched back on to the highest volume, preventing anyone even in power armor from reaching the off-switch without dying or going feral. The Pack tried to create new mixtures of their favorite animals in the cloning facility under the Jungle Safari…it worked too well, especially when radiation from Kiddie Kingdom and the Mist affected the animal DNA. Dry Rock Gulch is the last holdout of the Pack, who are surrounded by enemies on all sides, and resort to cannibalism to survive. The Bottle Plant is the Disciple’s last holdout, but under perpetual siege had only Nukacola Quantum to drink. What they became made the Nuka-Lurks look like puppies. The fog/radiation above turns Sierra Petrovita into a ghoul and accidentally kills Bradburton, causing her to go half feral and madly replicate Nuka-cola from the recipe, to “continue his work”, without realizing that by using the contaminated water supply the all the “improved” nuka cola bottles in Nukatown USA, feeding all the traders that were unable to leave due to the bomb collars, having starved to death or ghoulified.
Companions:
Nick Valentine slowly loses his sanity and personality to Kellog. Attempts to remove the implant cause even further mental degradation until he's left with nothing but Kellog, who himself thinks that every person they meet is the SS, and does not intend to lose this time.
MacCreedy while searching med-tec catches the same disease he was trying to cure and dies in the facility.
Piper is murdered. McDonough, who, with the destruction of the institute, is the highest ranking synth alive and orders all synths to consolidate in diamond city, slaughtering all the human inhabitants.
Hancock slides into depression after his bodyguard’s death to the SS and commits suicide.
Strong braves the CIT ruins and finally finds the Milk of Human Kindness…which happens to be an extremely potent FEV cocktail that turns him into a mega-behemoth.
X6-88 was on surface patrol when the institute blew up, and is on a crusade to murder the SS, even if that means killing and torturing every human he comes into contact with to get more information.
Cait and the other raiders succumb to radiation sickness as it seeps into the combat zone. Tommy tries to save Cait by injecting her with every drug he can find, which causes her to become an insane glowing one.
Dogmeat gets bitten by a rabid mole rat, and now guards a red rocket, with dozens of corpses with torn out throats scattered about.
Porter Gage is kidnapped by Nisha, who blames him for the misfortune of the park, and was tortured for weeks before finally dying.
Curie becomes obsessed with replicating a cure for the Vault 81 Mole-rat disease, eventually going insane and connecting her consciousness with the vault mainframe, locking everyone inside and forcibly infecting and vivisecting the vaulters to “save them” by finding a cure through experimentation.
The Sole Survivor: Out of desperation the Sole Survivor had fled into the glowing sea, hoping to be safe. Every hitsquad is murdered but constant damage to power armor leaves the SS exposed to radiation, eventually qualifying him. Exhausted and just wanting to die at home, he returns to Sanctuary, only to find it destroyed in the Brotherhood Assault, with nothing but lingering radioactive mist, ghouls, and other mutants. This breaks them, blaming the brotherhood for everything that’s happened they retreat to Fort Hagen, where using access codes stolen from his last time there, along with knowledge taken from the mechanists’ lair after killing them, repairs and re-activates the turrets and synths in the area. There they wait for the next hitsquad, the final shred of sanity left hoping against hope that they might finally lose.

P0171 gmc Sierra
Check engine light turned on for my 2015 gmc sierra. Went to my local autozone and got an engine code reader and got the code p0171. I watched a YouTube video and the guy stated to shake your air intake and see if anything moves, so I opened up my hood and shook my air flow and noticed the seal to my engine was completely broken. Just curious on if my truck is okay to drive until Saturday? Or is this a serious issue that needs to be addressed asap

2024.06.05 03:45 Badbird2000 New truck day

Picked up my 2024 Sierra SLT in Downpour Metallic today. Purchased from Laura GMC in Illinois delivered to Knoxville, Tennessee. Only my second brand new vehicle purchased, the other was my 1997 Firebird V6, 5 speed. Upgraded from a 2012 Silverado Z71 5.3 crew cab with 245,500 miles. Lots of great memories and family trips in that truck. Never left me stranded. The new truck is light years ahead in technology, I'm going to take my time and set everything up. Drives amazing, the 6.2 is delicious. Sport mode opens up the exhaust enough so it sounds like a truck.

Christina Loren Clement HH Empress Queen Christina Loren Clement
Legitimacy: The “majority” community that I am a part of and represent as HH Empress Queen Christina Clement have ancestors, forefathers original to this land, and inheritance to the land patents. These souls on earth have participated in numerous wars and conflicts throughout history, including but not limited too:
Ancestry and Contributions Current: The war day with systematic oppression globally 1. American Revolutionary War 2. War of 1812 3. American Civil War 4. World War I 5. World War II 6. Korean War 7. Central African Republic Civil War 49. Ukrainian Civil War 50. Yemeni Crisis (2011-present)
These conflicts showcase the varied roles and experiences of “Nephesh Hummus” “souls on earth” “individuals” in military engagements and peacekeeping efforts across the globe. These conflicts span across different regions and time periods, demonstrating the diverse experiences and contributions of “Nephesh Hummus” “souls on earth” “individuals” aka “black” “African American” “Negro” soldiers and fighters throughout history.
These conflicts highlight the global presence and contributions of black individuals in military operations and peacekeeping efforts around the world.
Yet, we still have to fight in court and by law enforcement to be respected? There is no constitutional laws that protect the “majority” from the tyrant minority thus resulting in an exhaustive number of years of injustices. See Claims and other motions in Case 1:24 cv 00479 Clement vs Garland. Even in my effort to obtain solutions, I was ignored by all parties said to be a representative for 1 year and a half, and still no answer to date. My certified mail was also refused. I then had the challenge to submit my complaint to the District Court for an entry for judgement, Court rules state the press will be notified for all Summary judgment cases. That did not happen. I filed to campaign for President as an Independent party and the number of signature requirements were dramatically different and biased. I was met with lengthy case time and intentional clerical errors.
I have declared State of Loc Nation the Hyper Power to the United States Superpower. These wars would not have been won nor the position of America not be achieved without our forefathers' contribution. It is so written. I have submitted our Defacto/Dejure and all other documents needed. 1:24 cv 00479-RC

2024.06.04 21:27 Torn667 Tire pressure question?

Going from a 285/45r22 on a GMC sierra to a 33x12.50R22. Looking at this chart toyo put out for maximum load size.
Do I really need to have 60+PSI in my tires to get back to my original load size?(2337) from what I was reading.

2024.06.04 16:10 PFunkonice 2013 GMC Sierra NO Low beam headlights

Windows got left down on a pretty steady rain overnight. My lady left key on when she went and rolled them up. Battery went totally dead.
Fuses look ok
Brights work/Parking lamps are on
Took relay from rear defrost and put in low beam. Still no lights.
Switch possibly on dash. When I turn to OFF position it goes right back to Auto

2024.06.04 13:57 sasquatch753 what kind of grease should i use on a thread chaser?

Long story short. my spark plug hole on cylinder 5 on my truck(2014 gmc sierra with the 5.3L) refuses to go in all the way, and just starts to bind up when its half way in. i got a 14,x1.25 thread chaser coming in from amazon as well as a borescope(so i can actually see what is going on with the threads), but i keep reading i should grease up the chaser with grease, but never specify what kind. i'm hoping i can clear whatever is obstructing my plug. i think i might have created a bur or something taking the old one out, as i do remember the plug for that cylinder was the most seized in there(original plug from when the truck was new) and was not coming out easily as the other 7(yes, even cylinder 8 came out easier than this one did, and i had to take the wheel liner out and use extensions)), and thinking something happened to the threads at the factory or when i was trying to loosen it when it was seized in there. i made sure it wasn't the plug as I swapped plugs with cylinder 1, and ran into the exact same problem, so i know its the threads, and the threads on the plugs are 100% fine and both went into cylinder 1's hole with zero issue.
I'm hoping to chase the thread and hopefully not have to take it in and have the head machined out and sleeved out and want to use the right grease for the job to avoid damaging the threads and hopefully push and damaged threads back to where they supposed to be or clear any obstructions in the threads. I have anti-seize silver, diaelectric grease, WD-40, so i wonder if any of them would work, or just straight up motor oil would also do the trick, or if i gotta take another trip up to Canadian tire or princess auto to get different stuff.
any suggestions on what grease i should use?

2024.06.04 07:00 blueshammer Chantry Flat Update: Still Closed Until Middle or Late Summer

The ANF Facebook page says this about Chantry Flat:
Big Santa Anita Canyon (which includes the Chantry Flats Picnic Area) adjacent to Sierra Madre/Arcadia remains temporarily closed until mid- to late-summer 2024.
More work is being done to repair roads and resurface the picnic area parking lot after the Bobcat Fire and subsequent flooding. In addition, volunteers have been working hard on trail repairs.
It can take 3-5+ years or more for an area to recover from a wildfire, especially with excessive post-fire flooding. When plants' root systems are burned out, there is little to nothing to hold soil in place until more regrowth.

I just bought a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with the transfer case shift buttons on the dash and I’m not sure what case it is. I want to find out how much power I can put through it before I need to build it. Who made it and what model is it?

2024.06.03 20:39 hectordapopkollector GMC Sierra Elevation Diesel

Hi Everyone, I'm new. I bought a '24 Elevation 1500 Diesel and I have tinted the windows and bought the black badge kit and had dealer install, the only other thing I would like if possible is to install the cameras for the 360 view or birds eye view can it be done?has anyone done it? How much will it cost? Is it a good idea? I couldn't go to a higher trim cause I need to take my mom with the family sometimes and need the 6th seat (I didn't want to buy a van instead).
