State farm claims adjuster jobs

So the purpose of this post is to gain some clarification on if my partner is a narc, for me… the signs are definitely there. Has anyone else experienced something like this and regretted giving them a chance?.
First off, he struggled to tell me he was divorced, he didn’t have any remorse/listening or consideration when I asked him before I informed my family about him. He would get very angry/jealous or possessive if I got a job offer that he didn’t like the look of. He would do this passively like “ugh that jobs for flipping losers, what a losers office job”. I mean he would say EVEN worse stuff to the point I would be like you know what I’m just not gonna go down that route.
If I want to go out with friends he would get angry again, “Yeahh I’m too busy to go out with friends, wish I could have the time to do that”. “Oh well I’ll just be a loner then shall I?”. Then he would try so hard to keep me on the phone it’s like wtf dude just let me go??.
He drives so aggressively and takes notice of every person on the road, often saying negative things about them. He’s a terrible communicator and listener, he does try but all he says is about the physical things he does for me, which is true he does make an effort for me physically but emotionally quite neglectful and doesn’t take things into consideration.
I feel scared and on edge a lot of the time after 6-7 months I still haven’t really let my guard down after being lied to about him being divorced, I haven’t found out after that, he wants to “prove himself” to me by giving me his location at all times, and his social media logins. Something in me literally just cringes and I feel like I can’t trust him at all. He’s emotionally unstable at times it just confuses the hell out of me.
Honestly in recent months I would like to have left him, but he has shown improvements in behaviour which makes me wonder if he’s really a narcissist or if he’s hiding behind a mask that will totally slip when/if we get married. It hasn’t been awful between us but at times I feel so affected by certain things I can’t let them go.
The other week his friend referred to me as something disrespectful over the phone, my Bf thought I didn’t know what he was talking about and when he turned the phone off I said take me home because I was so annoyed at him. He didn’t correct his friend and let him talk about me like that. He cut his friend of 12 years off because he “disrespected him” not me, he was only thinking about HIMSELF. When I got home I decided to not talk to him, then my bf flipped out and was spam calling me. I messaged him telling him I’m fine, he was so mad because I was “ignoring him”. All he was talking about was himself again, he wanted to ring me to vent and b8tch about his friend. Didn’t have any consideration for me and how I was feeling.
Can someone tell me if they’ve been in a similar situation where their partner has shown signs of improvement, claim they want to be with you etc and

I'm 25(M) & like the title says I'm in a very unique situation. My grandfather passed away last year & my grandmother is still living. I'm not wishing nothing on her but I understand she's 94 now & with my career about to kick back off I'm looking for advice on what I should do in my situation. My grandparents have also stated that they want me to have this house. So the house is 2800 sqft & sitting on a tad bit under 2 acres. I previously worked in the oil & gas industry but I came back home to get a 2 year degree to make more money. Now that I'm done with school & gearing up to head back. I have come to a fork in the road. The job I'm interviewing for has a work schedule of 28 days working (with housing while l'm at work) & 14 days off. So I can practically live anywhere I would like. But part of me understands how imperative it is to take advantage of this opportunity in life and the other half of me just wants a break from the place where I stay now. I've been here my whole life & I would like to see other places. But I also understand with this new job I can easily make 150k with OT & can save so much money and live comfortably. What should I do?

I can’t believe I’m even posting here but I have been journaling and I feel like I just need to get this all out.
I have been going through a breakup recently that has taken me completely by surprise with a woman who I thought would be my life partner. We were best friends, did everything together and have known each other for over two years. When we first met we didn’t date cause I was interviewing for a job out of state, but we stayed close and she even visited me, we knew we both felt something but couldn’t do distance.
A year later I moved back to the city we both live in and she was dating someone else, I respected that and we were friends again, but before we both knew it we found ourselves inseparable and not much longer fully dating.
I loved this woman, I still do. We had one argument in almost 2 years and it was cause we got too competitive over a game of pong at a party that we both ended up laughing off. I knew her family and she knew mine, our friends all liked eachother and we talked every day, even if I was away on a work trip just a check in or an update on what show we were watching.
In the last few months I had thought about how I really wanted to find a place of our own together, we’re both 26&25 so we couldn’t afford to buy anything but to rent and start thinking about the long term while still having fun in our 20s. She would go back and forth and eventually we agreed it wasn’t time yet, I was hurt but I respected that she wanted to still have her space, totally cool as long as we’re happy i would support that.
Then it all fell apart in about 72 hours. We went on a vacation together with her family to Wyoming for a week. It started beautifully with horseback riding, dinners together and hikes! It was like out of a cheesy romantic comedy. It wasn’t all perfect anyones family 24/7 in the middle of nowhere can get a little annoying but I didn’t care I was with her. While on the trip one night by the fire she started asking about our future, and how she wants to be a mom and move out of the city, and I said how I was surprised to hear her bring these topics up as we hadn’t even talked about if we would move in together for another year.
Then it came: she told me that she didn’t move in with me cause it would be easier if she ever wanted to leave cause she didn’t know if I could be that “endgame” for her. So I feel like I panicked my response, I felt like I was shot. I saw her by my side in an uncertain future where the only answer I had was wanting her with me for whatever came our way….
She and I offically broke things off, traded bags of our stuff back and promised to respect each others space. She said she wants to stay friends and that I was the best man she’s ever loved. I feel like I don’t even know why we’re breaking up. It hurts so much, I thought everything was fine and to know this was something she felt makes me feel so incredibly pained.

RESULTS FOR FOURTH QUARTER 2023 AND FULL YEAR 2023
For fiscal 2023, FF produced its first year of revenue as well as a reduced operating loss, and cash used in operating activities, while improving the composition of its balance sheet, as compared with fiscal 2022. These results were achieved through major cost reductions and cost discipline.
FF reported revenue of $0.8 million for 2023 and cost of goods sold of $43 million, compared with no revenue and cost of goods sold in 2022. This reflects that the Company only began delivering vehicles in the third quarter 2023. Loss from operations was $286 million for 2023, as compared to a loss from operations of $437 million for 2022. The change was due to a significant reduction in operating expenses which registered $244 million in 2023 compared to $437 million in 2022. The improvement in operating expenses for the year was primarily due to lower research and development expenses as the Company completed product development and transitioned to fulfilling sales through manufacturing and production. Net loss improved to $432 million for 2023, as compared to $602 million for 2022.
Total assets on December 31, 2023, were $531 million, compared to $529 million as of December 31, 2022. Total liabilities were $302 million, versus $328 million on December 31, 2022.
Net cash used in operating activities for 2023 was $278 million compared to $383 million in 2022. Capital expenditures were $31 million for 2023 compared to $123 million for 2022.
Cash balance at December 31, 2023, was $4 million, including restricted cash of $2 million. This compares to cash of $17 million at December 31, 2022. As of May 23, 2024, the Company's cash position was approximately $5 million, which includes restricted cash of $2 million.
To support future growth the Company continues to pursue additional significant strategic investors to support future growth. It also is considering equipment- and IP-backed financing to potentially reduce reliance on dilutive funding. The Company does not plan to issue additional shares unless and until the Company receives shareholder approval to increase total authorized share count.

Trigger warnings: self harm, abuse.
I just got home from my first session trying to go into IFS with a therapist I’ve been seeing for about six weeks or so. I’ve had tons of prior talk therapy. I’m seeing this new therapist because I feel I’m in maximum trauma mode. My ACE score is 9 out of 10. This new state of trauma has been brought into such an active state because of emotional abuse and relationship separation.
Today I told my therapist I feel so sensitive I cry at the tiniest interactions. The message I keep hearing is that I’m unlovable, my parents didn’t love me, my siblings, my partner. There are times of the day I get so overcome with emotion and I feel like I need to peel my skin off. She also knows I have been suicidal and cutting.
So today in session she asked if she could try something. She asked me to lean back and close my eyes. Take deep breaths. Go to that place that feels unlovable (something along those lines I honestly can’t remember the particulars) I was overwhelmed with emotion instantly. Like TOO big. She asked me to breathe. She asked me where did I feel it. I told her my throat, my chest. She asked me to stay with the feeling but keep breathing, it was still big emotion. She asked me to describe anything I could see. At that point I could see a small gray ball only, but I couldn’t tell her that. I felt like that was the wrong answer. And then I went completely blank. Like I just felt so empty. She would walk me back to the emotion. And I would be right back to it. But kept cycling back and forth.
She had me put my hand on my heart. Put my hand on my forehead. Breathe. Move my forehead hand to my belly. Breathe. Then I could open my eyes.
She told me I did a great job.
I told her I felt like I did a terrible job.
My question is: did I have a panic attack, instead of getting work done? I’m an overthinker and I am wanting to pick this to oblivion. And of course I am feeling like a failure.

I'm job hunting, and could use a little advice navigating the state of the UX job market. I have 9 years experience and am looking for Senior UX roles, but most of the job descriptions I'm coming across read to me like listings for UI Designers. I haven't had to look since before the pandemic, but I'm used to UI and UX being thought of as completely different, tho related, practices, and that was how my last workplace was structured as well. So, my portfolio is highly UX-focused. I've met with a couple of mentors and have gotten the feedback that to be employable I need to have more shiny, visually focused UI work in there. I DO NOT want to be a UI designer again (I started my career in UI). I think its a poor investment as AI tools are going to replace a lot of that work. I also don't like the idea of UI designers suddenly being able to call themselves UX designers because they are completely different skill sets, and I resent this pressure to be forced into a role where I'm just thought of as someone who makes things look nice, when UX is supposed to be about strategy and how things work. What's going on? Am I being expected to perform two jobs now that used to be separate disciplines? Has "real UX work" gone somewhere else? Is there some sort of effort to erase the discipline completely and replace it with lower-paid, AI-driven production work, while managers become the ones making product decisions? Just trying to figure out the best direction to go in.

After the revolution of 1918, a new German state has been formed! Whatever you wish to call it — the German Reich, the German Republic, the German People's State, or, as a certain Austrian soldier will famously refer to it, the Weimar Republic — it is the most democratic that Germany has ever been, with all forms of nobility abolished, and all Germans over age 20, including women and soldiers, given the vote. And with democracy comes elections, these elections being especially important as they will determine who writes the constitution. Many groups have different ideas for the overall German state, with both the radical right and radical left opposed to its current form; the left, in particular, has recently made multiple attempts to create communist governments via insurgencies. Moreover, groups that agree on basic governing principles still have different ideas on basic day-to-day policies. So, let's get into the parties!
The Center Party (Zentrumspartei) is Germany's primary Catholic political organization, having re-emerged. It purports to not represent any faction of society, but rather the entire Catholic majority. Ironically, because of this, it is divided into several factions. The party's left wing favors a commitment to republicanism and working with trade unions, a small minority of them supporting a type of Christian socialism. Some also support forming a broader party of all Christians, but such plans have been rejected. The right wing, in contrast, generally denounces democracy as being opposed to Catholic values. Adolf Gröber, the current leader of the party, leans towards the left, supporting trade unions and the republic without going anywhere near socialism. The party's strategy for the election is based on uniting by focusing on what they all oppose: they have utilized attacks on the Church by some Social Democratic officials to fan their Catholic base into fighting a culture war.
The German Democratic Party (Deutsche Demokratische Partei), or DDP for short, represents the left-wing component of German liberalism. Founded almost exactly when the Republic was (in large part by, interestingly enough, Max Weber), it is proud to call itself the party representing the republic and liberal republican ideas of personal freedom. Hence, it is known as the strongest opponent of calls for dictatorship, and is the only party to have no significant wing in favor of replacing democracy with despotism. Let's see how that turns out. While still liberal and in favor of private enterprise in general, it also supports social reforms, a system of negotiations between labor and capital, and even the state takeover of natural monopolies, a policy which has caused much internal controversy. Friedrich von Payer leads the party, with a background having worked to strengthen the legislature and support peace during the Imperial era.
The German People's Party (Deutsche Volkspartei), or DVP for short, represents the right-wing component of German liberalism. Their platform calls for secular education, lower tariffs, conservative values, opposition to welfare spending and agrarian subsidies, and hostility to socialism — a crucial tenet is private property, which they are the only party fully in support of. The DVP emphasizes personal liberty as its utmost priority, viewing excessive state intervention as wrong even when it comes from majority support. To that end, the party is split on whether a constitutional monarchy or a republic would be better safeguards of liberty, a question with an answer that seems obvious but here we are. Unlike other conservatives, they support restoration of great power status via free trade, peace with the United States, and expansion of credit, though they don't oppose radically oppose militarism either. They are led by Rudolf Heinze, a major founder of the party.
The Social Democratic Party (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands), or SPD for short, is, you guessed it, the party supporting social democracy. Nowadays, social democracy is a vague term, but back then they were sure that it meant...uh...well, they weren't quite sure either. The party contains support for Marxist historiography, such as the idea of class struggle, and they do consider themselves socialists, but they focus more on pragmatic reforms, such as improved working conditions, support for unions, and increased welfare spending. The SPD has come under some controversy from its left for its suppression of anti-democratic leftist radicals seeking to overthrow the state, and the left also still resents the party leadership's support of the Great War. The party is led by Friedrich Ebert, a moderate Social Democrat strongly supportive of democracy, and Philipp Scheidemann, one of the figures who first proclaimed the Republic and a supporter of using the workers councils in the context of parliamentary democracy.
The Independent Social Democratic Party (Unabhängige Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands) or USPD for short, meanwhile, is the front for the aforementioned alienated left-wing social democrats. Founded during the War as unabashed pacifists, they aren't communists, but they are definitely socialists, supporting Soviet Russia, frequently using Marxist language, and advocating for the creation of a full-on socialist economic system. To this end, they are supporters of the movement to form independent councils of workers, though they doubt that those who want to replace the democracy with said councils have correct judgement; after all, they say to themselves, surely the SPD and USPD will easily have a majority when every worker is able to vote! With the Communist Party boycotting the elections, the USPD is likely to gain a large amount of the hardline Marxist vote, but the actual USPD politicians still see themselves as left-wing social democrats above all else. The party is led by Hugo Haase, who is a moderate "revisionist" in the party supportive of reform rather than revolution, and a noted prominent Jew (and much of the criticism against him, even among Social Democrats, is related to that fact).
Last, and probably least, we have the German National People's Party (Deutschnationale Volkspartei), or DNVP for short. This is the most right-wing party, and their three planks are anti-democracy, anti-Catholicism, and anti-Semitism. They buy into the "stabbed-in-the-back" myth about the end of the war, claiming that the loss of the war and founding of the Republic came from intentional sabotage (by, of course, the Jews), and thus seek to restore the Kaiser and reclaim all lost territory. They have a very negative view towards Catholics, who they call "Romish". Unsurprisingly, they have an even more negative view towards Jews: they've banned Jewish membership since their founding, their first ever convention had enthusiastic chants of "without the Jews," and for this election they've produced a pamphlet entitled "The Jews—Germany's vampires!" More women than men vote for the DNVP, and women are very active in the party, particularly those concerned with getting rid of prostitution and pornography. They also have a high farmer presence, and strongly support agricultural tariffs. The DNVP is led by Arthur von Posadowsky-Wehner, a member of the old nobility.
So, who will we vote for to lead our country and write our constitution? Vote here to find out! If no party gets a majority, I'll do a separate post and vote for coalition formation. Try to vote without hindsight.

I am from Hungary (member of EU), I am a Hungarian citizen. I have a master's degree in "computer science engineering". My area of ​​expertise is cyber security. I would like to live and work here happily in Utah, but only if I get a job and a working VISA.
I checked Linkedin, I see there are many open positions in Utah. The only thing that is not clear to me: Should I send applications for open positions in Utah with my actual state? Is there a need for foreigners here, and would any company help me apply for a working VISA?

New to Philly -- My husband (32M) matched at CHOP for his Fellowship beginning June 2025. I (29M) am trying to find the best place for us to Rent & gather any tips/tricks as we've never been to Philadelphia. Few things about us that may be helpful:

I was born and raised in Alabama & my husband was born and raised in Georgia. So the North East is going to be a very new experience for us. Any tips to adjusting? • ⁠My husband is going to be in fellowship so with my job our combined household income is around $120K. We are looking to spend no more than $4,000 on rent. Neighborhoods I have looked at are Rittenhouse Square, University City, Center City, and Old City. Any recommendations? • ⁠Husband will be bringing his car but I am leaving mine behind. He wants to be close enough to walk to CHOP or walk to a train/trolley station so proximity is really important. I also would like to be walking distance to shops and restaurants. Since he won't need his car often; should we look at an apartment with a garage or are there other long term parking options? Would it be cheaper to get an apartment without a garage and pay for a long term off-site garage? Maybe CHOP has free parking and we keep his car in that garage? • ⁠A few buildings I have found are 1919 Market St., Locust on the Park, Domus, The Sterling, Riverloft Apartments, The Alexander, or The Left Bank. • ⁠Amenities that are important are: pool, updated appliances, pet friendly, location (close to public transit and shops), club/game room area. Hello, we are REFORGE! A Cutting Edge focused mythic raiding guild on Tichondrius. We are currently recruiting and are looking for a few exceptional players to join our raid team as we make preparations for the upcoming expansion. Our ideal candidates are players with high skill and mechanics who are self motivated to attain CE on a 2 night raiding schedule.
In Shadowlands the guild attained CE in Castle Nathria and Sanctum of Domination. Unfortunately Sepulcher was kind of a mess so the guild only reached Anduin before burning out and calling it for the rest of the tier.
In Dragonflight the guild missed CE by a boss or two (Raszageth Phase 3, Sarkareth Phase 3, Tindral Phase 2), We are close and I believe if we have the right players and the right preparation going into the new expansion we can be CE 2-day raiding guild once again.
Our raid plan for season 4 will be to clear the awakened raid at heroic and mythic difficulty as far as we can go within our designated tues/weds progression raid nights. Thursday are optional raid days but once heroic is moved off tues/weds we intend to full clear on this day. Season 4 as a whole will serve as training and preparation for the upcoming expansion and raid tier as we want to put together a very solid team going into The War Within.

In regards to our roster, we try to run a deep but competitive roster to insure that we always have enough raiders to raid. We determine the nightly rosters based on recent performance, optimal raid composition, and attendance. Attendance is important but we are a guild of professional adults with jobs/families and we understand that absences will happen and IRL > WoW. So to start off, I do not need this job. I picked it up while between jobs, and am now in a salaried office position where I am treated very well. In other words, I'm in a position to do something here.
I'll describe the weird situation, and then will go into the confirmed wage theft below it.
The weird situation: Pretty much since I've started, I've watched as people lose hours they need. I was hired full time, and then slashed down to 23 hours. I believe it was maybe a week after that, that a new hire was brought on. To be honest, I'm pretty sure my hiring caused slashes in the hours, too. The store is extremely overstaffed. Most stores (including high volume) work their best with 3 people, 4 max. That's not corporate schlock, that's coming from me working at other stores, and seeing/ hearing it. My home store is low traffic, and typically staffs 5 people, with 4 already being more than needed. But people keep being hired on FT hours, and dropped down to unlivable hours. Also kind of weird, is that she lets anyone split up the tips, and product is all pretty much free without limit, to employees.
I feel like this is some kind of scheme, but I'm not sure what it is.
The wage theft, comes in the form of her telling us to cut her in on all tips. When I was at another store, their GM alerted me to this not being allowed. And when I looked into it, it is in fact illegal in my state. GMs may only take tips, if they are the only person handling your experience, from the kitchen to the bill. Which is not the case.
I did bring up the tips, to the DM, and I know he spoke with her. But I am 1000% certain that no one's wages- physical or digital- have been returned. And she is still employed. Gets overtime hours, while everyone else is scrounging. And yes, she is paid hourly.
She put me on the schedule this coming weekend, and part of me feels I shouldn't go. But regardless of that, what could this all be? Does anyone recognize this behavior?

im gonna start by saying i am not married but for the sake of the story ill be referring to my boyfriends sister as my SIL to make it easier to read
SIL (f 20) and i (f 21) have known each other for the past 3 years that i have been dating her brother. we never got along, we never see eye to eye, and i have been told by many others that it’s not really my fault cuz she’s just a difficult person to be around in general. she is very rude, selfish, immature, and bratty and her own family avoids her. it got to a point where for almost a full year i ignored her and refused to even look at her because she made me so angry and she was so annoying.
now you might be wondering what happened so i’ll sum it up. around the same time i started dating my boyfriend SIL started dating a man who i’ll call “coral”. i knew coral in hs, he was a creep who hmu asking for sex every day for 2 months before i blocked him. when he started coming around it was 2 years after he had sent those messages so i hoped for the best and assumed he changed. spoiler alert: he only got worse.
coral and SIL break up after 3 months of dating, SIL tells me he cheated and then she tells me that he told her that i messaged him in hs and that we were in a situationship. i told her what really happened and we laughed and called him crazy. they get back together a month later, she claims he’s changed, i start thinking she’s a moron. i don’t talk to coral and i only have short interactions with SIL. SIL notices that i don’t talk to coral and gives me attitude.
4 months later they break up, SIL says they had a really bad argument after she had a pregnancy scare and it made her realize she didn’t wanna be with him long term. 2 months later they get back together. i’m more annoyed, my boyfriends annoyed, her parents are acting like this is fine and it’s all okay, and i stop talking to SIL and coral and keep my distance.
6 months later they break up. he dumps her via text while she’s in mexico. i don’t care i mind my business. 1 month later they get back together. 3 months later they break up after he talked SIL into buying a manual car that she doesn’t know how to drive and a dog that she neglects and convinces her to quit her job. 2 days later she finds out she’s pregnant and they get back together. at this point i’m like damn she’s an idiot and really want nothing to do with her. she starts treating me like shit yelling at me and being rude and she throws things at my boyfriend and hits him which really pissed me off more.
4 months later they break up. he cheated again. 2 months later they get back together. 2 weeks after that they break up. 3 months later (right before baby is born) coral starts talking to another girl and tells this girl that SIL is crazy and abused him and says a bunch of mean things about her whole family. the girl posts their dms online and tags SIL and her whole family. turns out the account he was texting was a fake ig account and no one knows who did it. but we all saw how he talked mad shit on everyone in the family and was extremely disrespectful so then they get in a huge fight and SIL says she wants nothing to do with him. after that for some reason SIL started being even more rude to me. i still don’t talk to her and my boyfriend has minimal contact with her.
a few weeks later baby is born and i talk things out with SIL. i tell her i think she was stupid for getting back with coral over and over again and she tells me she understands, but she loves him and she’s just gonna be friends with him and never wants to date him again. we ended on good terms and we each made good apologies but my boyfriend still avoids her. now (3 months later and baby is a little over 2 months old) she gets engaged.
you might be wondering why after alllll of that they’d get engaged. well i’m wondering that too. my boyfriend and his older brother hate the dude and are mad at their parents for giving him their blessing the day before he proposed. older brother is especially mad since a week before the engagement she said they’re not dating and that she’s just taking their friendship/coparenting relationship really slow and focusing more on baby than on him. they then go on a weekend vacation with baby to san diego where he proposes and his whole family meets them at a restaurant after to celebrate. none of SIL’s family was there. my boyfriends SIL (older brothers wife who i’ll call “morning”) was especially pissed off since she had mentioned two weeks before to SIL that she thinks coral wanted to propose and SIL yelled at her and told her that’ll never happen.
well now they’re engaged and moving in together and planning a wedding and SIL tells my boyfriend that she’s gonna ask me to be a bridesmaid. she has a whole plan to make little gift boxes for all her bridesmaids to invite them to be in the wedding. my boyfriend and i already agreed that we wouldn’t be going, and his older brother and “morning” agreed to skip too and we’d all go on a couples vacation or something just to be away from that wedding. all he told his sister though was “maybe talk to her about it first.” and SIL got mad at him and stormed off. i already know i’m not going to spend money on going to a wedding for a couple that shouldn’t even be together. i never liked coral and i think SIL is an idiot for marrying him. i understand that they have a kid but they’ve never been able to have a successful dating relationship so idk why they think their marriage will work. i don’t agree with it and i want nothing to do with it (if it even happens. they have to stay together for a full year in order to make it to the wedding), but idk how to explain that to SIL without being rude. should i just suck it up and attend and be a bridesmaid? would i be an asshole if i declined? how do i decline? what do i do??

Discharged in ‘09, initiated a claim for ptsd and anxiety/depression, but missed an appointment I didn’t know about and then got a denial letter shortly after. It was quick and I wasn’t really in the best state to deal with it, so I never reopened the claim or anything. While active duty, I was diagnosed with ptsd and anxiety, and have basically just been self-medicating and dealing with panic attacks and stuff on my own. My spouse and father (also a vet) keep probing me to reopen the case and get assistance. I did email a VSO a long time ago about getting some assistance in navigating the process, but never got a response. Point me in the right direction, please? I don’t really know what I would need to “prove” for a ptsd rating, and don’t have medical records or anything.

Recently I discovered that my bf is in a group chat with his cousins, friends, and ex. My bf claims he’s over his ex and wants nothing to do with her. He told me that he has had multiple chances to get back with her, but he wants to be with me. To me this did not sound romantic because her husband died last year, so I thought his comment was inappropriate. What gets to me is that 2 weeks before he asked me out he told me he was going to ask me out but this group chat hung out together and he had mix feelings. I guess seeing his ex and interacting with her made him relive his moments with her. I know she is his first love because not talking to her for 10 years, but seeing her once made him catch feelings again. I asked him how long did it take to get over his feelings for her after seeing her for the first time in 10 years, and he said it took a week. So that means he asked me out a week after his feelings for her went away. I don’t know if I am nitpicking everything but I basically removed him from the group chat, he said it did not matter to him if I did it. But I know they have another group chat as well. Also I saw in the text messages that they hung out as a group on December, so after we started dating.
PS: 1)We are not from the same state so he hung out with them during our college breaks. 2)At the time he told me had mix feelings about asking me out, I did not know it was due to his ex until after we started dating. 3) I am 20f and he is 26m , so they dated when they were 16-18, but he said their relationship was toxic (on and off). I know he cheated on her but supposedly he states that she cheated as well.

New to Philly -- My husband (32M) matched at CHOP for his Fellowship beginning June 2025. I (29M) am trying to find the best place for us to Rent & gather any tips/tricks as we've never been to Philadelphia. Few things about us that may be helpful:
• ⁠We are moving from Birmingham, AL where we currently have a $1700 mortgage for a 3 Bed/2.5 Bath house - Philadelphia prices are definitely going to be a new world for us. I was born and raised in Alabama & my husband was born and raised in Georgia. So the North East is going to be a very new experience for us. Any tips to adjusting? • ⁠My husband is going to be in fellowship so with my job our combined household income is around $120K. We are looking to spend no more than $4,000 on rent. Neighborhoods I have looked at are Rittenhouse Square, University City, Center City, and Old City. Any recommendations? • ⁠Husband will be bringing his car but I am leaving mine behind. He wants to be close enough to walk to CHOP or walk to a train/trolley station so proximity is really important. I also would like to be walking distance to shops and restaurants. Since he won't need his car often; should we look at an apartment with a garage or are there other long term parking options? Would it be cheaper to get an apartment without a garage and pay for a long term off-site garage? Maybe CHOP has free parking and we keep his car in that garage? • ⁠A few buildings I have found are 1919 Market St., Locust on the Park, Domus, The Sterling, Riverloft Apartments, The Alexander, or The Left Bank. • ⁠Amenities that are important are: pool, updated appliances, pet friendly, location (close to public transit and shops), club/game room area. I work from home so I need a home office. Either a 2 bedroom, 1 bed+Den, or a 1 Bed with a workstation area in the common areas.

First, let us make something clear. This is a very subjective look; other people may have different opinions, and we don't claim to own the one and only truth here. Now that this has been said, let us go on.
Lately, there have been challenges to the claim that 'We Have Arrived' by Mescalinum United is 'really' the first Hardcore track ever. People point to other earlier tracks that already have quite distorted bass drums or otherwise heavy sounds.
Are these challenges legit? Perhaps 'We Have Arrived' is not the first Hardcore track at all?
Let us take a look at this. First, the dry facts. 'We Have Arrived' has a distorted, 'Gabber' type bass drum, howling synths/sirens, overly distorted percussion, frantic sounds, and noises. It's undoubtedly a Hardcore track. But was it the first one?
I would say: yes. For the following reason:
People point to other tracks that were earlier and already had 'heavy' sounds in one way or another. But I think this is missing the point by far because people focus too much on what are more or less just 'production' details.
Yes, there were tracks with heavy bass drums before 'We Have Arrived.' Also, shortly afterwards, there were tracks with truly distorted 909s and such. But I think 'We Have Arrived' stood out, literally for years after its release.
Let us look at two aspects of this: First, what was later called 'Techno' was referred to as 'House' in the Netherlands. It was to the point that 'Gabberhouse' became established as a term similar to Hardcore Techno. I believe this goes beyond semantics. Techno, as a whole, evolved from House, and the Gabberhouse sound was still tied to the House sound. What was House? It was a genre that evolved from Disco in the 80s (or late 70s). It represented people coming together in a venue or club, getting drunk or high, dancing, enjoying life, having fun, and celebrating with positive moods and vibes. It was a lot like Disco, but more intense. The early Gabberhouse tracks followed in that direction. They were fun party music for a real intense celebration, just more extreme than the usual House fare.
A lot of early 'hard' tracks were actually kind of novelty tracks, even somewhat silly and cheesy at times. This doesn't diminish their value because they were intended as party music and worked in that way.
No disrespect meant at all (because I love the following track), but I would say that even 'Alles naar de klote' was still such an 'extreme party' track. It certainly isn't a dark, somber, or introspective track, right?
On the other hand, 'We Have Arrived' was different. It had a distinct attitude. In my opinion, this new attitude, mood, feel, philosophy, and ideology marked the true advent of Hardcore Techno. Describing precisely what was expressed by this attitude, concept, or theme is hard, maybe even impossible. But it was undoubtedly a very dark thing. A dark mood. Brutal. Nihilistic. Without mercy. Without remorse. Rebellious.
And that was something truly new, something no other Techno, House, or EBM track had at that time. Early Gabberhouse had that sense of 'Hey, we are here to celebrate and have a good time, and now we take it to the extreme.' There was nothing like that in Mescalinum United's track. 'We Have Arrived' doesn't evoke a sense of 'good vibration' and a happy celebration. It's a sonic attack that kicks you directly in the teeth—and in your mind.
When other early Gabber producers were interviewed, they said: 'we're doing music because we want to have a party, we want to have fun'. When Marc Acardipane was interviewed he said (paraphrased): 'we're doing music to prepare people for the coming times, because times will get tough'.
Certainly, dark dance or rhythmic music existed before in genres such as EBM, Industrial, and No Wave. However, it was not Hardcore.
Now, some may argue that this is an interesting interpretation and analysis (or perhaps an uninteresting one), but also a bit of nit-picking and overthinking. "It's akin to the topic of discussing which member of the Beatles had which role in a particular song. While it may captivate music historians and trainspotters, the average person listening to a Beatles song on the radio couldn't care less."
However, I don't view it that way. It's not purely a matter of theoretical value. I believe 'We Have Arrived' had tangible, practical consequences and results for the ongoing development of Hardcore.
This 'dark, nihilist, remorseless' attitude, or rather, this 'Hardcore' attitude, fundamentally transformed the emerging scene and continues to shape it to this day.
Because after the initial wave of Gabberhouse tracks, we started to see the emergence of darker and more somber Hardcore tracks (beyond PCP and its associated labels). Hardcore and Gabber, as a whole, took a darker turn. While some parts of the scene in the mid-90s veered toward what some might call 'commercial radio bullshit,' with its overly happy and cheesy sounds, twisted and disturbing genres like Speedcore, Acidcore, Industrial Hardcore, Doomcore, or even Breakcore emerged. In my opinion, these genres were spawned from the seed planted by Mescalinum United's track, albeit with many steps in between. Yet, they are still connected to this very root.
Without 'We Have Arrived,' we might have a world with Gabberhouse but without Hardcore Techno. This pivotal development, along with the subsequent branching out into various styles and subgenres (such as Doomcore, Slowcore, etc.), continues to evolve and will persist into the future.
'We Have Arrived' was the first bona fide Hardcore Techno track, period. Its significance goes beyond just its drums, noise, or distortion. Most importantly, it defined the attitude and state of mind that we now associate with 'Hardcore Techno.'

So I got a strange call from my niece who lives out of state. She said that her and her five siblings had received this 50+ page document with a raised seal and notarized. It claimed someone we never heard of had died in the state of Texas. She was divorced and had no children. Doesn’t mention any amounts. It is signed by a law firm in Houston who is a criminal injury attorney.
The weird thing is that there is a 40+ page genealogy report paid to a company that goes back to the early 1800’s. On that report they have my great great grandparents and my grandfather’s siblings even in France! Stuff we had great difficulty in finding out ourselves, including my great great grandfathers middle name and his wife’s maiden name.
They claim to be working for a cousin twice removed of said deceased woman. Also odd too that I can’t find anything on this dead woman. No address, no obituary, no paper trail. So far, 12 people in my family received this packet they had to sign for.
So I could t stand it I had to call personal injury attorney listed. A woman, all professional answered. I asked for the attorney. She replied he’s away on business and out of the office. She is his paralegal and asked if she could help me. I said I’m calling on an inheritance packet we received and she interjected with “oh you mean ……”. I said yes. There are seven people who have been left off and it’s asking if we know anyone. She said yes. “Do you have their names?” she asked. I said yes and gave her the names. She said I’ll forward this to him upon his return and if he needs anything further he’ll be in touch. But didn’t ask for phone number, address, SS, bank account…..thank goodness cause I wouldn’t give that info if asked. She was polite and then hung up.
If this is indeed a scam, it’s a very involved one. Any thoughts?
